Building on an analysis of interviews with 61 social entrepreneurs, the study offers a more fine-grained exploration of the identity work of social entrepreneurs from a psychoanalytic, particularly Lacanian, perspective. Specifically, it suggests that what defines social entrepreneurial identity work is the blurring of beatific and horrific aspects of fantasies and a desire for struggle and lack. This in turn creates an emancipatory space in which discursive movement enables alternative forms of market enjoyment and ethical agency. The latter unsettles macro-discourses of capitalism by demandi

The downside of this approach comes with the query patterns having subject unbound (i.e. ?S rdf:type:Class). Abstract:
This paper considers a practical truncated traveling salesman problem (TTSP), in which the salesman is only required to cover a subset of out of given cities (rather than covering all the given cities as in conventional travelling salesman problem (TSP)) with minimal traversal distance. Thus, every feasible solution tour contains exactly cities including the starting city. However, extensive research on TSP has been received and various efficient solution techniques including exact, heuristic, and metaheuristic algorithms are devoted, a very limited attention has been given to TTSP models beca

What is reality? Is reality what we see? How do we tell what is real, and how do wedifferentiate “real” from “false” or uncover the truth in an objective fashion? The searchfor reality or understanding the dynamics of human interaction in an institutionalized settinghas resulted in a vibrant debate in international relations (IR) theory over the metatheoreticalfoundations of knowledge production. Positivists and realists claim that truth andreality can be and have been uncovered by thorough and patient research. Truth is, after all,“out there” somewhere in the real world, and it is the task of

This inquiry offers insight into how Black women assistant professors traverse the challenging journey toward tenure while acknowledging their connection to their students and communities, research, teaching, and service. By employing a phenomenological approach and utilizing Black feminist thought and community cultural wealth as conceptual and theoretical frameworks, this research advances scholarship identifying commonalities across Black women’s experiences. Further, we offer implications for how the academy can support Black women and other professionals from marginalized populations. Fin

This article draws on findings from a broad study on the influences of globalization on the experiences of international doctoral students at a large, research intensive Canadian university. It focuses specifically on these students’ lived experiences of change in their national identities and senses of belonging in a globalizing world. Using a qualitative, multiple case narrative approach, students’ experiences were collected via in-depth interview and analyzed through a theoretical lens of transnational social fields. The study found that international doctoral students experienced multiplic

This article uses a duoethnographic approach to explore the intersection of lesbian and queer sexualities and transgender identities in intimate relationships. By comparing experiences of gender and sexual identity negotiation within transgender relationships, the authors document how sexual identity borders are traversed, and how gender is negotiated and interrogated in and through these relationships. We argue that our differential experiences of ‘queer’ as an identity, our relationship challenges and how we express/relate to gender are heavily shaped by feminist politics, and how social int

Since 2018, Venezuelans have been the largest immigrant group, making up 30% of all international migrants living in Chile. This article explores how Venezuelan migrants become citizen-subjects through their residential practices, that is, through actions that symbolically construct their inhabited spaces (neighborhood and housing). Abstract:
In this paper, we introduce an approach for helping visually impaired people to find the closest-to-user traversable region. The aim of our work is to reduce the computational cost of this task. For this purpose, we develop a convolutional neural network that classifies patches to segment floor regions in a point cloud. Segmented regions are evaluated by their size and position in the point cloud to identify the closest-to-user traversable region. We evaluate our approach using the NYU-v2 dataset and find that by searching only in the lower section of the point cloud, it is possible to reduce
