In order to implement the spatial Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) interpolation in parallel, we use the quadtree approach to decompose the spatial domain and execute the IDW interpolation on these quads through the parametric tasks on Windows HPC platform. The whole implementation includes the executables of QuadDC, IDW, output gathering and data visualization which should be run serially. Compared with the traditional method to integrate each executable manually, the Job Manager of Windows HPC utilizes multi-task job to serialize all the executables as a workflow. Abstract This paper presents the optimization of the inverse distance weighting method (IDW) in the process of creating a digital terrain model (DTM) of the seabed based on bathymetric data collected using a multibeam echosounder (MBES). There are many different methods for processing irregular measurement data into a grid-based DTM, and the most popular of these methods are inverse distance weighting (IDW), nearest neighbour (NN), moving average (MA) and kriging (K). Kriging is often considered one of the best methods in interpolation of heterogeneous spatial data, but its use is burdened by

Abstract Both the spatial regression test (SRT) and inverse distance weighting (IDW) methods have been applied to provide estimates for the maximum air temperature (Tmax) and the minimum air temperature (Tmin) in the Applied Climate Information System (ACIS). This is critical to the processes of estimating missing data and identifying suspect data and is undertaken here to ensure quality data in ACIS. The SRT method was previously found to be superior to the IDW method; however, the sensitivity of the performance of both methods to input parameters has not been evaluated. A set of analyses is

Precipitation is a key variable in the hydrological cycle and essential input data in rainfall-runoff modeling. Rain gauge data are considered as one of the best data sources of precipitation but before further use, the data must be spatially interpolated. The process of interpolation is particularly challenging over mountainous areas due to complex orography and a usually sparse network of rain gauges. In spatial interpolation, one of the most widely used deterministic methods is the inverse distance weighting (IDW) technique. The general idea of IDW is primarily based on the hypothesis that the attribute value of an ungauged site is the weighted average of the known attribute values within the neighborhood, and the ‘weights’ are merely associated with the horizontal distances between the gauged and ungauged sites. However, here we propose an extended version of IDW (hereafter, called the EIDW method) to provide ‘alternative weights’ based on the blended geographical and physiographical spac

AbstractIn this paper, a hybrid dynamic mesh generation method for multi-block structured grid is presented based on inverse distance weighting (IDW) interpolation and transfinite interpolation (TFI). The major advantage of the algorithm is that it maintains the effectiveness of TFI, while possessing the ability to deal with multi-block structured grid from the IDW method. In this approach, dynamic mesh generation is made in two steps. At first, all domain vertexes with known deformation are selected as sample points and IDW interpolation is applied to get the grid deformation on domain edges.

Project Completion Reports (PCRs) are the main instrument through which different multilateral organizations measure the success of a project once it closes. PCRs are important for development effectiveness as they serve to understand achievements, failures, and challenges within the project cycle they can feed back into the design and execution of new projects. The aim of this paper is to introduce text analysis tools for the exploration of PCR documents. We describe and apply different text analysis tools to explore the content of a sample of PCRs. We seek to illustrate a way in which PCRs c

Abstract:
This method determines total dietary fiber (TDF) in foods and food ingredients, as defined by Codex Alimentarius. The method measures soluble and insoluble dietary fiber, including resistant starch, as well as nondigestible oligosaccharides. In this method, enzymatic digestion is used to simulate human intestinal digestion. Insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) and soluble dietary fiber that precipitates in 78% ethanol (SDFP) are separated by filtration and quantified gravimetrically. Additionally, highly soluble oligosaccharides (SDFS) are quantified by chromatographic separation. TDF is reported as
