An immediately electrically detachable coil (IEDC) that we previously developed was modified to enhance the reliability in its detachment system. IEDC is detached by applying a monopolar high-frequency electrical current that heat and disrupt a junction between a platinum coil and a delivery wire. The original IEDC immediately detaches only when the junction is just outside the catheter tip and precise positioning of the junction is required. In the modified IEDC Its delivery wire was insulated with polytetra fluoroethylene (PTFE) to concentrate electrical current to the junction. The modified

Multiplanar reconstruction images should be used to evaluate such a lesion correctly. A tortuous tubular complex shape could be a key finding to differentiate from other retroperitoneal cysts.

This article presents the necessity for the training of specialized units designated to combat IEDs in accordance with “The Training Program of Professional Engineering Units”. It shows training requirements as well as the equipment used by specialized units in order to fight against IEDs as part of the Polish Military Contingent (PMC). Besides, the authors introduce a new concept of training intended to prepare soldiers to carry out their combat assignments in the areas where there is a high risk of the occurrence of IEDs. Moreover, the authors propose the use of new technical solutions in th

Abstract: Illness-induced poverty remains a major issue on a global scale. China has initiated the model of integration of elderly care and medical services in community (IEMC). Using the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) (2014–18), this article examines the effects of IEMC on illness-induced poverty among older adults in China. Findings show that IEMC has reduced the incidence of illness-induced poverty among older adults by improving their health level, promoting outpatient service utilisation and increasing income from spouses’ labour market participation and offspring t

Background For COVID-19 vaccine safety, the vaccination program of Bangladesh started facility-based passive surveillance to address adverse events following immunization (AEFIs) with COVID-19 vaccination. The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), Bangladesh, has been using emergency hotlines for outbreak reporting since 2008. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these hotlines are being used for pandemic-related information and reporting. Thus, COVID-19 vaccinees also use these hotlines to report AEFIs. Objective We analyzed the documented AEFIs records of the IEDCR to cha

Abstract The Immune Epitope Database and Analysis Resource (IEDB) contains information related to antibodies, T cells, and MHC across a broad spectrum of research fields (infectious diseases, cancer, allergy, autoimmunity, and transplantation). A critical component of this information is three-dimensional structural data on T cell receptors (TCRs), antibodies, and pairwise residue interactions between immune receptors and antigens, which we refer to as IEDB-3D. Analysis using atomic models helps to understand the intricate interactions between immune receptor and epitopes. Here, we present IED

Introduction: Inner ear decompression sickness (IEDCS) is a condition from which only a minority of patients recover completely, the majority ending up with mild to moderate residual symptoms. IEDCS has been reported after deep technical dives using mixed breathing gases, and moderate recreational dives with compressed air as the breathing gas. Considering this and the high proportion of technical diving in Finland, a comparison between IEDCS cases resulting from technical and recreational dives is warranted. Abstract:
Interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) are brief neuronal discharges occurring between seizures in patients with epilepsy. The characterization of the hemodynamic response function (HRF) specific to IEDs could increase the accuracy of other functional imaging techniques to localize epileptiform activity, including functional near-infrared spectroscopy and functional magnetic resonance imaging. This study evaluated the possibility of using an intraoperative multispectral imaging system combined with electrocorticography (ECoG) to measure the average HRF associated with IEDs in eight patients

Interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) are transient neural electrical activities that occur in the brain of patients with epilepsy. A problem with the inspection of IEDs from the scalp electroencephalogram (sEEG) is that for a subset of epileptic patients, there are no visually discernible IEDs on the scalp, rendering the above procedures ineffective, both for detection purposes and algorithm evaluation. On the other hand, intracranially placed electrodes yield a much higher incidence of visible IEDs as compared to concurrent scalp electrodes. In this work, we utilize concurrent scalp and
