Abstract:
Abstract Inland excess water (IEW) is a type of flood where large flat inland areas are covered with water during a period of several weeks to months. The monitoring of these floods is needed to understand the extent and direction of development of the inundations and to mitigate their damage to the agricultural sector and build up infrastructure. Since IEW affects large areas, remote sensing data and methods are promising technologies to map these floods. This study presents the first results of a system that can monitor inland excess water over a large area with sufficient detail at a high interval and in a timely matter. The methodology is developed in such a way that only freely available satellite imagery is required and a map with known water bodies is needed to train the method to identify inundations. Minimal human interference is needed to generate the IEW maps. We will present a method describing three parallel workflows, each generating separate maps. The maps are combined to one weekly IEW map. At this moment, the method is capable of generating IEW maps for a region of over 8000 km2, but it will be extended to cover the whole Great Hungarian Plain, and in the future, it can be extended to any area where a training water map can be created.

Abstract:
Nowadays, climate change not only leads to riverine floods and flash floods but also to inland excess water (IEW) inundations and drought due to extreme hydrological processes. The Carpathian Basin is extremely affected by fast-changing weather conditions during the year. IEW (sometimes referred to as water logging) is formed when, due to limited runoff, infiltration, and evaporation, surplus water remains on the surface or in places where groundwater flowing to lower areas appears on the surface by leaking through porous soil. In this study, eight different machine learning approaches were applied to derive IEW inundations on three different dates in 2021 (23 February, 7 March, 20 March). Index-based approaches are simple and provide relatively good results, but they need to be adapted to specific circumstances for each area and date. With an overall accuracy of 0.98, a Kappa of 0.65, and a QADI score of 0.020, the deep learning method Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) gave the best results, compared to the more traditional machine learning approaches Maximum Likelihood (ML), Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and artificial neural network (ANN) that were evaluated. The CNN-based IEW maps can be used in operational inland excess water control by water management authorities.

Abstract:
Changing climate is expected to cause more extreme weather patterns in many parts of the world. In the Carpathian Basin, it is expected that the frequency of intensive precipitation will increase causing inland excess water (IEW) in parts of the plains more frequently, while currently the phenomenon already causes great damage. This research presents and validates a new methodology to determine the extent of these floods using a combination of passive and active remote sensing data. The method can be used to monitor IEW over large areas in a fully automated way based on freely available Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 remote sensing imagery. The method is validated for two IEW periods in 2016 and 2018 using high-resolution optical satellite data and aerial photographs. Compared to earlier remote sensing data-based methods, our method can be applied under unfavorite weather conditions, does not need human interaction and gives accurate results for inundations larger than 1000 m2. The overall accuracy of the classification exceeds 99%; however, smaller IEW patches are underestimated due to the spatial resolution of the input data. Knowledge on the location and duration of the inundations helps to take operational measures against the water but is also required to determine the possibilities for storage of water for dry periods. The frequent monitoring of the floods supports sustainable water management in the area better than the methods currently employed.

Abstract:
Fasciolosis is one of the major constraint factors for ovine production development in Ethiopia by inflecting direct and indirect loss at different parts of the country. Ovine fasciolosis is an economically important parasitic disease of sheep caused by tr ematodes species of the genus Fasciola , which migrate in the hepatic parenchyma and establish and develops in the bile ducts. In Ethiopia, both species co - exist at different altitudes. The snails of the genus lymnae are mainly involved as an intermediate host in the life cycle of fasciolosis. Ovine fascioliasis in Ethiopia were losses annually estimated at 48.4 million Ethiopian birr due to mortality, productivity (weight loss and reproductive wastage), and liver condemnation at slaughter. This fasciola di sease has three phases of clinical sign acute, sub - acute and chronic forms. Acute fasciolosis occurs as disease outbreak following a massive, but relatively short - term, intake of metacercariae. Death usually results from blood loss due to hemorrhage and ti ssue destruction caused by the migratory juvenile flukes in the live resulting in traumatic hepatitis. Diagnosis of Fasciolosis is based on clinical sign, grazing history, and seasonal occurrence, examination of feces by laboratory tests and post mortem ex amination. Treatment of infected animals will largely depend on the correct use of appropriate and registered anthelmintic. Triclabendazole is the most effective anthelmintic drug which can be destroys or kills all stage of fasciola. Fasciolosis may be con trolled by reducing the populations of the intermediate snail host, or by appropriate anthelminthic treatment and the population of snail should be destroyed by applying Molluscicide and destroying the environment that suit for snail’s reproduction.

Abstract:
FARHAN is a PC interactive, graphically oriented search–match–identification–quantification computer program for X-ray powder diffraction, which uses a variable intensity-error window (IEW). Both the intensity scale factor and the IEW for each standard phase are estimated by a simple iterative procedure. A new tunable combined figure-of-merit (agreement function) is suggested for estimating the goodness-of-fit of matches. The concentrations of the identified phases may be determined by normalized or generalized RIR quantification methods, if the RIRs of the identified phases are known.

Abstract:
We analyzed a sediment core from the equatorial Arabian Sea, chronologically constrained by accurate accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) radiocarbon dates on selected planktonic foraminiferal species, for paleoproductivity variations corresponding to the variations in the Indian Ocean Equatorial Westerlies (IEW). The IEW in turn are positively correlated to the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI), which is a measure of El Niño, Southwest monsoon (SWM), and east African rainfall (EAR). The productivity data show that Indian and east African rainfalls declined from 35,000 calendar yr BP up to the last glacial maximum (LGM), with the maximum El Niño frequency during the last glacial period. From ∼14,500 to ∼2000 calendar yr BP (i.e. core top), we find strengthening SWM and EAR along with declining El Niño frequency.

Abstract:
This paper examines the implementation of counter-radicalization extension by Islamic Extension Workers (IEW) and the policies issued in the effort at the Ministry of Religion Affairs (MoRA) in Sukoharjo, Central Java. The descriptive method was used by using the qualitative approach. The results show that the MoRA had established a program for disseminating Islamic moderation in the 2015-2020 Strategic Plan as a counter-radicalization, which the Directorate General of Islamic Guidance programmed to optimize the role of IEW. However, until the end of the Strategic Plan, the program was unclear to the level of extension workers. Although there was no policy for operational guidance on it, MoRa of Sukoharjo made a policy to enact the decision of the General Director of Islamic Guidance number 297/2017 as a reference for radicalism extension. In the implementation of the face-to-face approach of extension (inter persona communication), it has not run optimally by IEW due to their competency and capacity factors. While in the mediated communication approach, IEW of Sukoharjo has succeeded in developing the extension activities through counter radicalism narratives, mosque coaching, and forming the communication forum for Mosque administrators as counter radicalism efforts.

Abstract:
This article is the publication of a stela from Abydos that will be exhibited in the Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza (CG 20394/JE 15108). The stela can be dated to early in the first part of the Thirteenth Dynasty, probably in the reign of King Ameny-Qemau, on the grounds of its stylistic, phraseological, iconographic, and epigraphic details. It is the only monument that records the names of Queen Nofret, who may have been the wife of Ameny-Qemau and their daughter Princess Hatshepsut. It documents the marriage between Hatshepsut and the stela’s owner, the 'tw n tt ha', Commander of the [Ruler’s] Crew, Nedjesankh/Iew. It also depicts their children, and the children of another woman called Nebuemwakh who may have been a secondary wife of Nedjesankh/Iew. The author describes the stela, deals with its individual idiosyncrasies, texts, and focuses on the genealogy of its individuals.

Abstract:
Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus expresses two major transregulatory proteins IE0 and IE1 immediately upon infection. IE0 differs from IE1 only by 54 additional N-terminal amino acids (aa). Either IE0 or IE1 can support viral replication; however both are required for a wild-type infection. It is unknown what the different functions of IE0 and IE1. Both IE0 and IE1 can transactivate viral early genes and support viral DNA replication. It is therefore hypothesized that by the addition of Nterminal 54 aa, IE0 acquires different transactivation activity on viral genes and interacts with different viral or host partners. To test this hypothesis, functional comparisons between IE0 and IE1 and the identification of their interaction partners in infected cells were performed. Comparisons of subcellular localization and transactivation activities between IE0 and IE1 showed no difference. However analyses of the nucleocapsid content of occlusion derived virions (ODV) revealed that IE0 and IE1 appear to regulate the number of nucleocapsids per ODV. Deletion within the IE0 specific N-terminal 54 aa did not affect IE0 transactivation dramatically but reduced its ability to support viral DNA replication. Analyses of interacting proteins did not identify any proteins that were specific to either with IE0 or IE1. However, the viral protein AC16 (BV/ODV-E26) was shown to bind to both IE0 and IE1 via a binding domain at IE1 72-99 aa. Mutation of the binding domain enhanced budded virus (BV) production by viruses expressing only IE0 but not IE1. Deletion of ac16 however resulted in increased levels of IE0 relative to IE1 as the only observable impact. These results would therefore indicate that AC16 regulates ie0 expression. Deletion of ac16 and the overlapping gene ac17, interestingly resulted in a significant delay of viral gene expression for up to 12 hours. However, the delay of viral gene expression was only observed with BV-infected cells and not in cells infected by transfecting viral DNA. AC16 and AC17 are therefore critical for rapid gene expression during the very early events of infection, and highlight the fact that proteins interacting with IE0 and IE1 play key roles in baculovirus biology.

Abstract:
The amount of information transmitted in automation systems has grown exponentially, since the modern digital protection and control devices had been introduced. These systems with different features, limited data flow and the mutual incompatibility were mostly based on the principles defined by vendors themselves. The international communication standard IEC 61850 was created with the aim of introducing definite rules and the structure into the communication part of the electrical substations with the application of the latest technologies. This standard also emphasises the mutual interoperability of the different vendors´ devices. This thesis is focused on the comprehension of basic principles, the practical application and the testing of digital protections with IEC 61850 communication standard implemented. The first part of my thesis is a theoretical one and describes basic principles, services and possibilities of the abstract communication model defined by IEC 61850 standard. The second part of my thesis describes the configuration of IEC 61850 communication standard of the protective terminal REF 542plus with the partial support of this standard including only the vertical communication and the subsequent testing using the OMICRON's testing tool IED Scout. The third part of my thesis is focused on the configuration of the feeder protection REF615 which has fully implemented IEC 61850 standard covering both vertical and horizontal communication by means of the GOOSE messages and the subsequent testing using the ABB's testing tool ITT600 SA Explorer. The testing of both protective devices was carried out in the laboratory of the protection relays on the testing panels at ABB PPMV Brno. The conclusion summarizes the contributions of IEC 61850 communication standard and there are also compared the engineering procedures of the protective terminal REF 542plus and the feeder protection REF615.

Abstract:
The nature of the power system is changing; what was once a clearlydened generation-transmission-distribution-consumer power ow is nowshifting towards a distributed infrastructure, with great amounts of variablerenewable sources in the system. The penetration of alternative energieslike solar and wind have represented a game changer for the electricpower industry, diminishing the traditional dominance of fossil fuel basedsources, and moving towards a more renewable mixture. All this wasmade possible due to severe climate regulations, both in the Europeanand global framework, as well as ever decreasing installation, operationand maintenance costs for these novel technologies. However, the penetration of renewable energies brings challenges to thereliability and stability of the power system, which must be tackled accordingly.Fortunately, the tools are there, standards like the IEC61850 andIEC61499 were independently designed, and for dierent purposes. TheIEC61850 standard strives for inter-operability and vendor-independencewithin the substation design eld, specically in regards to the data objectsexchanged between the devices. On the other hand, the IEC61499standard is used for the design of industrial distributed systems. This report aims to answer the question: is it possible to generate anIEC61499 description which complements an IEC61850 substation speci-cation? To this end, an IEC61850-IEC61499 interface was created, whichtakes an IEC61850 substation specication description, as well as a seriesof conguration les (rules, connections, allocation, parameters) andgenerates extended descriptions of the substation, as well as a fully operationalIEC61499 system specication. This can be directly imported inthe 4DIAC tool, and executed to evaluate the performance of the designedprotection systems, in a network of distributed or centralized devices.A series of test cases were evaluated, and the obtained results demonstratethat it is possible to bridge the gap between IEC61850 and IEC61499,thus enabling power system engineers to assess the performance of a certainprotection scheme, before actually implementing it in the substation. This potentially reduces human errors and development times. The interfacewas implemented in Java p.l. and is distributed as an open sourceproject.

Abstract:

Abstract:
REIN JR., O An integration model between the IEC 61850 and IEC 61970 standards. 2006. 98 p. Dissertação Mestrado – Escola Politécnica, Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo. The exchange of information among several management systems and other information systems of an electric utility company is not only desired but in most cases needed. Two international standards have emerged, one related to the data exchange of substations (IEC 61850) and another related to the exchange of information among control centers (IEC 61970), both published by the IEC technical committee 57 (TC57) that deals with the management and exchange of information on power systems. Nevertheless, in spite of the similarity in its application domain, each standard has its own object model. This work intends to investigate how to achieve the integration of data belonging to the substation control and control center systems, thus allowing a specific substation topology to be known by the EMS/SCADA. It is important to emphasize that the verification of such analysis required the implementation of a prototype to simulate the proposed integration architecture. Therefore, this work includes notes describing the implementation steps, as well as the record of the tests that have been done, encompassing substation configuration information within a SCL file, real-time information obtained from intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) and data recording in a relational database modeled according to the Common Information Mode (CIM) comprised in the IEC 61970-301.

In support of the Naval Postgraduate School's Systems Engineering Capstone, a project team was formed from Cohort 311-093A to perform an analysis on the possibility of utilizing Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) in campaign against improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The goal of the project was to determine if a weapon system is feasible to increase capabilities to the warfighter in the fight against the IED threat. The project scope was limited to the UAV classes with local (squad/battalion) control to provide an organic increase in capabilities
specifically Tier I (man-portable) and Tier II (tactical) families of UAVs. Modeling and simulation, warhead analysis, and a cost analysis were used to score the proposed alternatives on specific Key Performance Parameters. This information was analyzed and a recommendation was made to only arm the Tier II UAV using a small missile.

Abstract:
We propose a logic of directions for points (LD) over 2D Euclidean space, which formalises primary direction relations east (E), west (W), and indeterminate east/west (Iew), north (N), south (S) and indeterminate north/south (Ins). We provide a sound and complete axiomatisation of it, and prove that its satisfiability problem is NP-complete.

Abstract:
Energy efficiency actions is a shared policy goal of many governments in the world. In that sense, drive systems represent an important opportunity for energy savings. With an average of 20.1 million installed motors that represents approximately 30% of total energy consumption In Brazil, old motors sub-stitution for new and more efficient technologies is now a reality. The present work analyses the impact of voltage unbalance (VU) with under and over voltage on the line current and temperature of electric motors classes IE2, IE3 and IE4, the latter being a hybrid permanent magnet and squirrel cage motor. To do this, six different unbalance voltage conditions were applied to each motor while measurements were made to capture the main variations for each technology. The results show how the voltage unbalance results in considerable uneven increases in current and temperature in each motor, it was also observed how the hybrid permanent magnet motor shows less dependence on voltage variations, mainly with undervoltage.

Abstract:
More than 30 million electric motors are sold every year in the world, in the last 20 years the appearance of more efficient electric motors resulted in the replacement of more than 70% of the old motors installed. New technologies are being presented by manufacturers as substitutes for the squirrel cage induction motor (SCIM). Given this scenario, studies should be carried out to analyze the performance of these motors in the same operating conditions to know their main advantages and drawbacks. This study presents a comparison of the performance of electric motors classes IE2, IE3 and IE4 in the presence of voltage unbalance (VU) with under and over voltage. Results show that not only the unbalance percentage present impacts the motor performance, but also the magnitudes of the voltages present. The VU also results in an increase in the harmonics present in each motor, mainly in the permanent magnet hybrid motor, which presents non-linear characteristics.

Abstract:
Our long-term goal is to learn to control (expand and restrict) the host range of baculoviruses. In this project our aim was to expand the host range of the prototype baculovirus Autographa cali/arnica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcMNPV) towards American and Israeli pests. To achieve this objective we studied AcMNPV infection in the non-permissive hosts L. dispar and s. littoralis (Ld652Y and SL2 cells, respectively) as a model system and the major barriers to viral replication. We isolated recombinant baculoviruses with expanded infectivity towards L. dispar and S. littoralis and tested their infectivity towards other Lepidopteran pests. The restricted host range displayed by baculoviruses constitutes an obstacle to their further implementation in the control of diverse Lepidopteran pests, increasing the development costs. Our work points out that cellular defenses are major role blocks to AcMNPV replication in non- and semi-permissive hosts. Therefore a major determinant ofbaculovirus host range is the ability of the virus to effectively counter cellular defenses of host cells. This is exemplified by our findings showing tliat expressing the viral gene Ldhrf-l overcomes global translation arrest in AcMNPV -infected Ld652Y cells. Our data suggests that Ld652Y cells have two anti-viral defense pathways, because they are subject to global translation arrest when infected with AcMNPV carrying a baculovirus apoptotic suppressor (e.g., wild type AcMNPV carryingp35, or recombinant AcMNPV carrying Opiap, Cpiap. or p49 genes) but apoptose when infected with AcMNPV-Iacking a functional apoptotic suppressor. We have yet to elucidate how hrf-l precludes the translation arrest mechanism(s) in AcMNPV-infected Ld652Y cells. Ribosomal profiles of AcMNPV infected Ld652Y cells suggested that translation initiation is a major control point, but we were unable to rule-out a contribution from a block in translation elongation. Phosphorylation of eIF-2a did not appear to playa role in AcMNPV -induced translation arrest. Mutagenesis studies ofhrf-l suggest that a highly acidic domain plays a role in precluding translation arrest. Our findings indicate that translation arrest may be linked to apoptosis either through common sensors of virus infection or as a consequence of late events in the virus life-cycle that occur only if apoptosis is suppressed. ~ AcMNPV replicates poorly in SL2 cells and induces apoptosis. Our studies in AcMNPV - infected SL2ceils led us to conclude that the steady-state levels of lEI (product of the iel gene, major AcMNPV -transactivator and multifunctional protein) relative to those of the immediate early viral protein lEO, playa critical role in regulating the viral infection. By increasing the IEl\IEO ratio we achieved AcMNPV replication in S. littoralis and we were able to isolate recombinant AcMNPV s that replicated efficiently in S. lifforalis cells and larvae. Our data that indicated that AcMNPV - infection may be regulated by an interaction between IE 1 and lED (of previously unknown function). Indeed, we showed that IE 1 associates with lED by using protein "pull down" and immunoprecipitation approaches High steady state levels of "functional" IE 1 resulted in increased expression of the apoptosis suppressor p35 facilitating AcMNPV -replication in SL2 cells. Finally, we determined that lED accelerates the viral infection in AcMNPV -permissive cells. Our results show that expressing viral genes that are able to overcome the insect-pest defense system enable to expand baculovirus host range. Scientifically, this project highlights the need to further study the anti-viral defenses of invertebrates not only to maximi~e the possibilities for manipulating baculovirus genomes, but to better understand the evolutionary underpinnings of the immune systems of vertebrates towards virus infection.

Abstract:
Invasive exotic plant (IEP) species are a significant threat to natural ecosystem integrity and biodiversity. Controlling them is a high priority for the National Park Service. The Northern Colorado Plateau Network (NCPN) selected the early detection of IEPs as one of 11 moni-toring protocols to be implemented as part of its long-term monitoring program. From June 5 to July 29, 2020, and May 30 to June 2, 2021, network staff conducted surveys for priority IEP species along the Oak Creek, Pleasant Creek, and State Route 24 monitoring routes at Capitol Reef National Park. We detected 834 patches of 11 priority IEP species along 67.9 kilometers (42.2 miles) of three monitoring routes. There were more patches of tamarisk along State Route 24, and a higher percentage of large patches, than in previous years. This indicates that previously identified IEP patches have expanded and grown. Field bindweed (Convolvulus arvensis) and Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia) along State Route 24 have both increased in prevalence since monitoring began. Tamarisk (Tamarix sp.) was the most prevalent prior-ity IEP species on all three routes. On Oak and Pleasant creeks, there were fewer than three patches of all other IEPs. On State Route 24, there were 30 or more patches of Russian olive, quackgrass (Elymus repens), field bindweed, and blue mustard (Chorispora tenella). IEP prior-ity species were found on 71%, 47%, and 62% of transects along Oak Creek, Pleasant Creek, and State Route 24, respectively. Yellow sweet-clover (Melilotus officinalis) was the most fre-quently observed IEP on Oak Creek and Pleasant Creek. Percent cover was highest for yellow sweet-clover, Russian thistle (Salsola sp.), and tamarisk on Oak Creek, Pleasant Creek, and State Route 24, respectively. The NCPN plans to return to Capitol Reef in 2023 to continue the fourth rotation of invasive plant monitoring.
