Abstract:
This research examines the cointegration of macroeconomic variables and the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index toward IHSG. The Sampling data used is non probability sampling techniques by using historical monthly data from January 2015 to December 2019. The method used in this study are Augmented Dickey-Fuller Test for stationarity test, Johansen Test for Cointegration, and Error Correction Model for short-term relationships with eviews 10. The findings showed that DJIA Index not cointegrated with IHSG because investors are more responsive to global market and domestic sentiment. Exchange rates not cointegrated with the IHSG because exchange rate and IHSG movements do not always had a negative relationship. Interest rates are not cointegrated with IHSG because most of the sectors in the IDX affected by external sentiment than interest rates. Meanwhile, inflation have a cointegration relationship but does not have a short-term relationship with IHSG because inflation is generally known as a continuous increase in the price of goods as a whole. Crude oil have a cointegration relationship but does not have a short-term relationship with IHDG, which implies that an increase or decrease in crude oil in the short term can not affect IHSG.

Abstract:
A complete exploration of intramolecular hydrogen bonds (IHBs) has been undertaken using a combination of statistical analyses of the Cambridge Structural Database and computation of ab initio interaction energies for prototypical hydrogen-bonded fragments. Notable correlations have been revealed between computed energies, hydrogen-bond geometries, donor and acceptor chemistry, and frequencies of occurrence. Significantly, we find that 95% of all observed IHBs correspond to the five-, six- or seven-membered rings. Our method to predict a propensity for hydrogen-bond occurrence in a crystal has been adapted for such IHBs, applying topological and chemical descriptors derived from our findings. In contrast to intermolecular hydrogen bonding, it is found that IHBs can be predicted across the complete chemical landscape from a single optimized probability model, which is presented. Predictivity of 85% has been obtained for generic organic structures, which can exceed 90% for discrete classes of IHB.

Abstract:
This paper proposes a communication system in order to facilitate the development of communication for distributed systems based on TCP/IP network. The system provides real-time communication service based on UDP, subnetting network, broadcast and multi-NIC(Network Interface Card) configuration in the same host. It also provides reliable communication service based on TCP. These services are some application programming interfaces (APIs) that can be called in client applications with IHBs (Information Harbors) to identify the communication end-points. An IHB is a name defined in a network configuration file (NCF) to make network transparent so that all network concepts are invisible to the users. The NCF is the same for all client applications to guarantee the communication end-points identical. The system is general that can be applied in any network without any source codes needing to be modified and the use is very easy. To apply it to a new network, all of the work is to provide a NCF. The uses in many flight simulators show that the system is more efficient to implement communications.

Abstract:
This research is done with the aim to know whether some macroeconomic variables, which are inflation rate, certificate of Bank Indonesia (SBI) rate, and exchange rate of IDR/USD have an impact on the movement of the composite stock price index (IHSG) at the Indonesia stock exchange (BEI) partially and simultaneously in the period of 2006–2014. The research population is inflation rate, SBI rate, and exchange rate of IDR/USD. Data analysis in this research is multiple regression by using time series monthly data of 2006–2014. Research results show that partially inflation rate gives positive significant impact on IHSG, SBI rate has negative significant impact on IHSG, and exchange rate of IDR/USD has positive significant impact on IHSG. Simultaneously it shows that inflation, SBI rate, and exchange rate of IDR/USD have an impact on IHSG at BEI to the period of year 2006 – 2014. Those variables affect IHSG by 58,74%, while other variables affect IHSG by 41,26%. That information can be used by investors to make decision on their investment.Keywords: inflation, SBI, exchange rate, IHSG, BEI.

Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) bisa dibilang sebagai pandangan pergerakan saham dikarenakan indeks ini mencakup seluruh saham yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI). Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, yaitu faktor internal dan eksternal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh nilai tukar rupiah terhadap US Dollar,BI Rate, Indeks Dow Jones, dan Indeks Nikkei 225 terhadap Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) pada periode 2017-2019 dalam periode bulanan. Data sekunder yang digunakan oleh peneliti diperoleh melalui Website Bank Indonesia (BI), Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI), dan Investing.com. Metode Penelitian kuantitatif dipakai dengan menggunakan Analisis Regresi Linear Berganda dengan model Ordinary Least Square (OLS). Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apa saja yang mempengaruhi Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) karena IHSG juga termasuk pandangan perekonomian Indonesia. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa nilai tukar Rupiah terhadap US Dollar tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan dikarenakan dilihat dari nilai signifikansinya yaitu 0,079. Variabel BI Rate juga belum bisa mempengaruhi IHSG karena mempunayi nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,541. Indeks Nikkei 225 tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) dikarenakan memiliki nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,550. Sedangkan Indeks Dow Jones berperngaruh signifikan Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 dan menjadi satu-satunya variabel yang berpengaruh terhadap IHSG.

Abstract:
Indeks Harga Saham Gabugan (IHSG) merupakan salah satu faktor pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisa pengaruh variabel Ekspor, Impor, Inflasi dan Kurs Tengah USD Terhadap Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG). Data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini diperoleh dari Kementerian Perdagangan, Bank Indonesia dan Otoritas Jasa Keuangan. Hasil uji F menunjukkan hubungan yang signifikan antara variabel Ekspor, Impor, Inflasi dan Kurs Tengah USD terhadap IHSG. Sementara, pada uji t menunjukkan variabel Inflasi mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap IHSG, namun pada variabel Ekspor, Impor dan Kurs Tengah USD tidak mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap IHSG. Berdasarkan hasil Adjusted R Square, variabel Ekspor, Impor, Inflasi dan Kurs Tengah USD mempengaruhi IHSG sebesar 56.4% sementara sisanya 43.6% dipengaruhi faktor lain di luar model.

Abstract. To date, there has been inconclusive evidence on the predictive ability of health-related cognitive distortion, as measured by the Irrational Health Belief Scale (IHBS), regarding health behaviors (HBs). The aims of our study were to provide a validation of the Slovak translation of the IHBS and to assess the relationship of the IHBS with a wide range of HBs, as well as the predictive ability of the IHBS regarding HBs over and above other health-related psychological constructs. A total of 448 students attending mostly Slovak universities completed the IHBS, the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale, the Big Five Inventory – 2, the Positive and Negative Affect Scale, and the Bratislava Health Behaviors Questionnaire. The internal consistency and temporal stability of the Slovak version of the IHBS were confirmed. The IHBS correlated moderately with medical adherence but was unrelated to substance use and an unhealthy diet. The association of cognitive distortion with the sum score of HBs was only weak, albeit statistically significant. The IHBS had weak but significant incremental power. However, two health locus of control dimensions as well as negative emotionality were more strongly related to HBs than cognitive distortion in that multivariate model.

Investasi pada saham dianggap memiliki tingkat risiko yang lebih besar dibandingkan dengan alternatif investasi lain seperti obligasi, deposito, dan tabungan. Oleh karena itu, investor sangat membutuhkan informasi dari pergerakan indeks harga saham pada Bursa Efek. Untuk melihat perkembangan pasar modal Indonesia salah satu indikator yang sering diguakan adalah Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG). IHSG dalam perkembangannya sangat rentan terhadap kondisi makro ekonomi secara umum. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat bagaimana pengaruh faktor-faktor makro ekonomi yaitu nilai tukar rupih/USD (kurs), inflasi dan BI rate terhadap perubahaan nilai IHSG pada Bursa Efek Indonesia.Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah IHSG, nilai tukar rupih/USD (kurs), inflasi dan BI rate yang diambil dari statistik bulanan dengan nilai harga penutupan setiap bulan pada periode Januri 2011-Desember 2016. Data yang digunakan dalam peneitian ini adalah data sekunder yang diperoleh dari Bursa Efek Indonesia, dan situs resmi Bank Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahawa dari ketiga faktor makro ekonomi yang diteliti, hanya nilai tukar rupih/USD (kurs) yang secara signifikan memepengaruhi IHSG, sedangakan 2 faktor makro ekonomi lain yaitu inflasi dan BI rate tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perubahan nilai IHSG. Besar pengaruh dari nilai tukar rupiah/USD, Inflasi dan BI rate terhadap IHSG masing masing adalah 0,23 , -9,408 dan -100,17. Dari hasil tersebut diketahui bahawa hanya pengaruh nilai tukar rupiah/USD yang berbanding lurus terhadap nilai IHSG , sedangkan pengaruh inflasi dan BI rate terhadap IHSG berbanding terbalik.

Pasar modal adalah salah satu alternative yang dapat digunakan dalam berinvestasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji seberapa besar pengaruh inflasi, harga minyak, dan nilai kurs (usd/idr) terhadap pergerakan Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) secara parsial dan simultan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah indeks harga saham di bursa efek seluruh dunia. Sedangkan sampel dalam penelitian ini IHSG. Penentuan IHSG sebagai sampel berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel yang diambil dalam penelitian adalah harga minyak WTI, inflasi, nilai kurs (usd/idr) dan Teknis analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi linier berganda. Sebelum melakukan uji regresi peneliti melakukan uji asumsi klasik. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap data-data semua variable independen dan dependen selama periode 2011-2014. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial inflasi tidak berpengaruh terhadap Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) periode 2011-2014, harga minyak dan nilai kurs (usd/idr) memiliki pengaruh terhadap IHSG. Sedangkan secara simultan semua variable independen tersebut berpengaruh terhadap IHSG. Penelitian ini hanya menggunakan tiga variable makroekonomi, sehingga penelitian selanjutnya perlu menemukan variable makroekonomi lain yang diduga berpengaruh terhadap IHSG.

ABSTRAK: pasar modal syariah memiliki beberapa perbedaan dengankonvensional pada jenis jenis surat berharga dan tingkat risikonya. Saham adalah salah satu surat berharga yang memiliki risiko tinggi. Salah satu risiko yang ada adalah fluktuasi harga yang di kenal dengan volatilitas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah membandingkan volatilitas risiko indek harga saham di Indonesia dengan metode GARCH. Data yang di gunakan adalah dari IHSG dan JII mulai dari 1 mei 2013 sampai 31 desember 2014. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa volatilitas mempengaruhi IHSG dan JII. Hasil forecast variance menunjukan bahwa fluktuasi dan proporsi varian IHSG dan JII 0.05. namun demikian, jika dilihat dari proporsi divergennya adalah 0.05 dan 0.04 artinya volatilitas risiko IHSG lebih tinggi daripada JII. Namun jika di lihat dari nilai akurasinya, JJI lebih Akurat daripada IHSG.Kata kunci: IHSG, JII, Volatilitas, Pasar modal syariah dan GARCH.ABSTRACT: Islamic Capital marketand conventional have some typesecurities which have different risks levels. A stock is one of security among other securities that have the high level of risk. One of the risk that exist in the stock is fluctuations price, it is commonly called as volatility. The aimed of this research is to know the comparative volatility risks of stock price index in Indonesia with GARCH Method. The samples taken in this study is Indek Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) and Jakarta Islamic Indexs (JII), from 1 May 2013 to 31 December 2014. The research found that there the volatility influence the IHSG and JII. The forecast of variance results showed that the fluctuations and the proportion of the variant of the IHSG are same as with JII that is 0.05.Nevertheless, when viewed from diverge proportion of IHSG and JII each of them are 0,05 and 0,04, it means the volatility risk IHSG is higher than JII and if it seen from the accuracy percentage of forecast, JII is more accurate that is amounted 16.83% contrasted with IHSG it is 12.99%.Keywords: ISHG, JII, volatility, Islamic capital maret and GARCH

Frente às condições em que o Império do Brasil fora constituído, o acreditar na existência de um sentimento patriótico ou nacionalista subseqüente à independência, é uma postura ufanista. Com vistas ao despertar destes sentimentos e a constituição da nação brasileira, o Império dá a si seus intercessores, como o Instituto Histórico e Geográphico Brazileiro, Von Martius e Varnhagen; uma cadeia de intercessores responsáveis pela elaboração de uma imagem de si e pela instituição de um estar no mundo. Pretendemos então, com presente trabalho, o estudo do fazer-se aceitar pelo movimento do autor Francisco Adolfo de Varnhagen e de sua História Geral do Brasil, a qual tem seu primeiro volume publicado em 1854 e o segundo em 1857. Entendemos os objetivos aos quais Varnhagen se propõe para que sejam efetivados por sua obra, sejam características fulcrais para a compreensão de sua aceitação por um movimento em que se imbricavam projeto civilizacional e produção do conhecimento histórico, para a construção da nação brasileira. A presente dissertação propõe-se a compreender a ditadura brasileira a partir da análise da relação entre determinados segmentos da sociedade civil com o regime que se instaurou a partir do golpe de 1964. Para tanto, busca-se investigar o Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro (IHGB) no período de 1964 a 1979 com o intuito de apresentar e inserir o objeto de pesquisa no debate historiográfico atual a respeito da ditadura, procurando compreendê-lo nesse momento autoritário do país. A investigação, de modo geral, consiste em conhecer os sócios que foram membros da administração do Instituto ao longo desses anos através da abordagem prosopográfica e analisar a forma como o IHGB lidou e se relacionou com a ditadura logo após o golpe e nos anos posteriores, dialogando com estudos que procuram compreender o regime a partir das bases fornecidas pelas agências da sociedade civil. A fonte privilegiada para a pesquisa é a Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro (RIHGB) e, além dela, são utilizados dicionários biobibliográficos como referências para a coleta de informações a respeito dos membros do instituto. De um lado, a RIHGB propicia a análise de atas de sessões ordinárias, pareceres, notícias referentes à instituição, atos administrativos, quadro dos sócios e outras informações que interessam para esta pesquisa, possibilitando a investigação das relações existentes entre o instituto e os governos vigentes no período e as discussões desencadeadas no interior do IHGB. De outro, através dos dicionários biobibliográficos, são estudadas as biografias e trajetórias dos membros da administração do IHGB no período com o objetivo de conhecer os indivíduos e analisar o perfil coletivo desses sujeitos mediante a utilização do método prosopográfico.
The present dissertation proposes to understand the Brazilian dictatorship through the analysis of the relationship between certain segments of civil society and the regime that was established after the 1964 coup. For this purpose, we seek to investigate the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro (IHGB) from 1964 to 1979 with the purpose of presenting and inserting the research object in the current historiographic debate about the dictatorship, trying to understand it in this authoritarian moment of the country. The research generally consists of meeting associates who have been members of the Institute's administration over the years through the prosopographic approach and analyzing how the IHGB dealt with and related to the dictatorship shortly after the coup and in later years, dialoguing with studies that seek to understand the regime from the bases provided by civil society agencies. The privileged source for the research is the Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro (RIHGB) and, in addition, biobibliographic dictionaries are used as references for the collection of information about the members of the institute. On the one hand, the RIHGB provides an analysis of minutes of regular sessions, opinions, news regarding the institution, administrative acts, members' board and other information that may be of interest to this research, making possible the investigation of the relations between the institute and the current governments in the period and the discussions unleashed within the IHGB. On the other, through the biobibliographic dictionaries, the biographies and trajectories of the IHGB administration members are studied in the period with the purpose of knowing the individuals and analyzing the collective profile of these subjects through the use of the prosopographic method.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior
A presente dissertação analisa a gama de programas históricos propostos no Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro, entre os anos de 1838 e 1856. Enunciados e desenvolvidos pelos sócios do IHGB, os programas revelam uma série de questionamentos originados no seio daquela elite letrada. Através de um significativo contingente de agremiados protagonistas da esfera política, tais inquietações migravam rumo ao Instituto, em busca de soluções acadêmicas. Considerando a expressividade do IHGB no cenário político da década de 1840, o objetivo central deste estudo é avaliar em que medida tais formulações constituíam, por um lado, uma herança das práticas acadêmicas setecentistas e, por outro, um espaço para o debate intelectual acerca dos imperativos colocados por um Estado em processo de consolidação, bem como pela disciplinarização do saber histórico.
This dissertation examines the historical range of programs proposed at the Institute of Geography and History Brazilian, between the years 1838 and 1856. Statements and developed by members of the IHGB, the programs show a series of questions that originate among the erudite elite. Through a significant number of associates players in the political sphere, such concerns migrated to the Institute, in search of academic solutions. Whereas the expression of IHGB political scenery in the 1840s, the main purpose of this study is to assess the extent to which these formulations were, first, a legacy of academic practices eighteenth century and, second, a space for intellectual debate about the imperative posed by a state in the consolidation process, as well as the disciplining of historical inquiry.

Abstract:
Retrieval induced forgetting är ett fenomen som uppstår när återkallande av information skapar glömska för annan relaterad information. Detta tros vara en av processerna som understödjer adaptiv glömska, en process där icke-relevant och störande information inhiberas för att premiera minne för relevant information. Tidigare forskning har sett samband mellan låga nivåer av adaptiv glömska och negativa tankeprocesser. I denna studie undersöktes sambandet mellan svårigheter att glömma irrelevant information och oro, ruminering och påträngande tankar. 34 deltagare rekryterades i Örebroregionen. Deltagarna fick genomgå ett minnestest för att sedan fylla i enkäter kopplade till oro, ruminering och påträngande tankar. Nivå av störning från irrelevant information hos deltagarna korrelerade negativt med nivå av oro och ruminering. Dessa resultat är motsatta de resultat som kan förväntas utifrån teorin. Alternativa teorier och förklaringar till detta resultat diskuteras. På grund av omständigheterna för studien bör resultaten tolkas med viss försiktighet.

Esta dissertação tem como objetivo apresentar uma reflexão acerca das práticas retóricas desenvolvidas pelos sócios do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro entre 1838 e 1850. Pretende-se demonstrar o envolvimento do Instituto em um projeto político voltado para a consolidação do regime monárquico e para promover o progresso nacional. Através dos pronunciamentos, necrológios, homenagens e discursos do gênero observa-se o uso de recursos linguísticos para persuadir um amplo auditório (políticos, eruditos nacionais e estrangeiros etc.) de que o IHGB era uma das instituições basilares para a efetivação deste projeto.
This dissertation aims to present a reflection on the rhetorical practices developed by members of IHGB between 1838 and 1850. It is intended to evidence the involvement of the Institute in a politic project aimed at the consolidation of monarchy regime and to promote the national progress. Through of the statements, obituaries, tributes and speeches of the gender, it is possible to observe the use of language resources to persuade a broad audience (politicians, national and foreign scholars etc.) that IHGB was one of the basic institutions for the realization of that project.

Denna utvärdering handlar om Referensbiblioteket.se, en ämnesportal som skapades 2005 av Informations-och lånecentraler i samverkan, ILS. Webbplatsen riktar sig till personal på folk- och gymnasiebibliotek,och tipsar dem (och andra intresserade) om kvalitetsgranskade internetkällor inom olika ämnesområden.Studien har ett brukarperspektiv. I syfte att undersöka om Referensbiblioteket är en ändamålsenliginformationstjänst har jag studerat webbstatistik, gjort en webbenkätundersökning och samtalat medsju bibliotekarier, fördelat på tre intervjuer. Jag ville ta reda på vilka som i praktiken besöker ämnesportalen,vad de tycker om den och hur de använder den. Bibliotekariernas åsikter har legat till grund förbedömningen av portalen.Utvärderingen visar att Referensbibliotekets styrkor verkar finnas inom SAB-avdelningarna Språkvetenskap(F), Konst, musik, teater och film (I), Historia (K) samt Teknik, industri, kommunikationer(P). Portalen används huvudsakligen av den tänkta målgruppen folk- och gymnasiebibliotekarier – inteminst av den relativt nyanställde, men också av den med 35 år i yrkesrollen. Möjligen drar folkbibliotekarierstörre nytta av Referensbiblioteket än kollegerna på gymnasiebiblioteken, men det finns ingamarkanta skillnader i själva användningen. De som noterats (till exempel när det handlar om bruk i inreeller yttre tjänst) beror framför allt på individen eller det enskilda bibliotekets förutsättningar. När detgäller ämnesportalens innehåll riktar somliga informanter kritik mot att man rekommenderar en delavancerade källor och abonnemangsdatabaser. Men mestadels är Referensbiblioteket uppskattat, intebara för det källkritiska arbetet och länkbeskrivningarna, utan också för att webbplatsen med fördelkan användas för bibliotekariens egen kompetensutveckling.Trots goda vitsord är portalen i många fall en obekant eller lättglömd resurs på biblioteken. Informanternavittnar om att den ofta får stå tillbaka för mer etablerade informationskällor. Denna paradox –omtyckt men underutnyttjad – ligger i linje med tidigare forskning om ämnesportaler. Utöver praktiskaförbättringar, som förfinade sökfunktioner och ännu noggrannare länkpresentationer, skulle Referensbiblioteket.se därför behöva marknadsföras mer för att bättre fylla sin funktion som bibliotekarieverktyg.

O presente trabalho pretende analisar as concepções de história com que operavam os sócios fundadores do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro de até o fim dos anos 1840. Este recorte temporal refere-se ao período em que os mesmos citados sócios estiveram à frente dos trabalhos do Instituto, sendo que em fins dos anos 1840 muitos dos mesmos sócios já haviam falecido ou estavam perdendo lugar para uma nova geração que pensava o fazer historiográfico de modo diverso. Pretende-se demonstrar que os fundadores do IHGB não tinham um conceito único de história, operando com métodos e elementos tanto do conceito antigo quanto do conceito moderno de história. Para compreender por quê os membros da Casa pretenderam fundar o IHGB e como pretendiam pesquisar e escrever a história, procedeu-se uma pesquisa e análise das biografias dos sócios, e posteriormente uma análise dos temas mais frequentes de história que circulavam nos debates durantes as sessões periódicas e na publicação principal do Instituto, a Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Brasil, que estavam bastante vinculados à preocupação de construir a identidade nacional.
This present dissertation intends to analyze the concepts of history used by the founders of Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro, until the end of the 1840`s. This time choice refers to the period in which the same named members were most in charge of the Institute`s works, because at the end of the 1840`s many of these men had already died or were losing place for a new generation of members, who thought the doing of history in a diverse way. It intends to demonstrate that the founders of IHGB didn`t have a unique concept of history, operating with methods and notions either of the ancient and the modern concept. In order to comprehend why these men intended to found the Institute and how they intended to investigate and write the history, a research and an analysis of the biographies of the founders have been done, and also after an examination of the most frequent subjects of history that the members used to raise on their periodic meetings and that used to appear on their principal publication, the Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Brasil, that were very linked to the concern of creating the national identity.

Publicado na Alemanha em 1557, o livro de Hans Staden sobre suas viagens à América portuguesa adquiriu vasta circulação pela Europa, com várias traduções. Parte de seu sucesso se atribui ao fato de ser relato sobre região recém incorporada ao conhecimento europeu e por expor o convívio do autor com indígenas praticantes de rituais de antropofagia. Em 1882, o relato de Staden teve sua primeira tradução para o português realizada por Tristão de Alencar Araripe. O membro do IHGB, além da transposição de uma língua para outra, (re) significaria o livro transformando-o em um registro científico capaz de dizer sobre o Brasil nos seus primórdios. O relato terá ainda outras traduções para o português, sendo (re) significado em diferentes momentos e circunstâncias: por Albert Lofgren (membro do IHGSP) em 1900 e pelo literato Monteiro Lobato em 1925, 1927 e 1945. Cada um destes agentes traduziram o livro de Staden com o objetivo de alcançar públicos distintos e dizer, através do relato, sua ideia de história de Brasil e de nação que se pretendia formar. Monteiro Lobato publicou mais de uma vez aquele material, dando a ele uma tradução lobatiana ou uma ordenação literária, adaptando-o ainda para o público infantil, utilizando seus famosos personagens do Sítio do Pica Pau Amarelo como Dona Benta e Narizinho. A partir da localização destas publicações, busquei compreender o porquê deste livro do século XVI assumir um valor emblemático pelos seus diferentes tradutores e, nesse sentido, identificar como cada um atribuiu novas significações ao livro e quais são estas.
Published in Germany in 1557, the book of Hans Staden about his travels to Portuguese America acquired wide circulation in Europe, with several translations. Part of its success is attributed to the fact that reporting on newly incorporated into the European knowledge region and expose the author s association with indigenous practitioners of cannibalism rituals. In 1882, the reporting of Staden had its first translation into Portuguese made by Tristao de Alencar Araripe. The IHGB member, in addition to the transposition from one language to another, (re) mean the book turning it into a scientific record can say about Brazil in its early days. The report also will have other translations into Portuguese, and (re) meaning in different times and circumstances: Albert Lofgren (IHGSP member) in 1900 and the writer Monteiro Lobato in 1925, 1927 and 1945. Each of these agents translated the book Staden in order to reach different audiences and say, through the report, his idea of history of Brazil and nation that was intended to form. Monteiro Lobato published more than once that material, giving him a lobatiana translation or a literary arrangement, adapting it also for children, using his famous characters of the Sitio do Pica Pau Amarelo (literally translated as Yellow Woodpecker Ranch) as Dona Benta and Narizinho. From the location of these publications, I tried to understand why this book of the sixteenth century take on a symbolic value for their different translators and, accordingly, identify how each assigned new meanings to the book and what are these.

Nossa tese de doutorado consiste em analisar como o saber linguístico se constituiu no discurso da Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro (RIHGB) no século XIX (1838-1889). Objetivamos analisar que formas de saberes linguísticos foram coletadas/metodizadas/divulgadas na RIHGB. A tese segue quatro direções: (i) Um discurso de abertura: o IHGB, (ii) O saber linguístico na RIHGB, (iii) Os instrumentos linguísticos e (iv) A RIHGB n° 400 (1998). Em (i), analisamos os discursos de abertura do IHGB que aparecem no primeiro tomo da RIHGB (1839), o modo como esses discursos se formulam e constituem um dizer do/sobre o IHGB no Brasil do século XIX. Em (ii), evidenciamos como o saber linguístico aparece na Revista do IHGB, que concepções linguísticas circulam nas RIHGB, como a RIHGB conceitua língua e como esse conceito aparece nas Revistas. Que teorias são consideradas para a produção desse saber linguístico? Quais são os autores que escrevem na Revista? Que obras são documentadas? Em (iii), observamos o modo como os instrumentos linguísticos (principalmente os dicionários) são coletados e divulgados nas RIHGB. Nessa direção, analisamos como um verbete se constitui. Para isso analisamos os prefácios, a nomenclatura, a definição, os exemplos, a etimologia que são apresentados nesses instrumentos linguísticos. Por fim, nessa direção, compreendemos como uma Revista, aqui especificamente a RIHGB, participou do processo de gramatização no Brasil do século XIX. Em (iv), analisamos como a RIHGB n° 400 funciona como um índice, isto é, analisamos como um índice sistematiza, ordena, data e seleciona os saberes sobre as línguas do Brasil desde a primeira publicação da Revista (1839) até 1998. Our doctoral thesis analyzes how the linguistic knowledge was constituted in the discourse of Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro (RIHGB) in the 19th century (1838-1889). We aim at examining which forms of linguistic knowledge were collected/methodized/disclosed in RIHGB. The thesis follows four directions: (i) Um discurso de abertura: o IHGB, (ii) O saber linguístico na RIHGB, (iii) Os instrumentos linguísticos and (iv) A RIHGB n° 400 (1998). In (i), we analyze the opening speeches of the IHGB that appear in the first volume of RIHGB (1839), how these discourses are formulated and constitute a saying of/about the IHGB in nineteenth-century Brazil. In (ii), we highlight how the linguistic knowledge appears in the IHGB magazine, which linguistic conceptions circulate in RIHGB, how the RIHGB conceptualizes language and in which way this conception appears in the magazines. Which theories are considered in order to produce such linguistic knowledge? Who are the authors who write for such magazines? Which works are documented? In (iii) we observe how the linguistic tools (especially dictionaries) are collected and divulged in RIHGB. In this direction, we analyze how an entry is composed. In order to do that, we examine the prefaces, the nomenclature, the definition, the examples, and the etymology presented in such language tools. Eventually, in this direction, we comprehend how a magazine, here specifically RIHGB, took part in the process of grammaticization in nineteenth-century Brazil. In (iv), we analyze how RIHGB n° 400 serves as an index, i.e. we study how an index systematizes, orders, dates and selects the knowledge about the languages in Brazil since the first publication of the magize (1839) until 1998. The theoretical perspective which supports our work is the Discourse Analysis in conjunction with the History of Linguistic Ideas

Abstract:
This chapter contrasts the political interpretation of sertanejos’ endemic illnesses, promulgated by Brazilian sanitarians, with the approach to public health promoted by Rockefeller Foundation International Health Board (IHB) representatives who also worked in Brazil during the 1910s. These contrasting interpretations of the political and racial origins of endemic disease delineate two poles around which subsequent approaches to sertão development turned. Early in the chapter, public health infrastructure in the northeast region is evaluated in relation to states’ limited capacity to assist drought refugees or prevent epidemics in migrant camps, and the efforts of cearense physician Rodolfo Teófilo are emphasized. The remainder of the chapter focuses on a sanitary survey of the sertão undertaken by Belisário Penna and Arthur Neiva in 1912; subsequent public health projects engaged in by Penna (notably the Serviço de Profilaxia Rural, or Rural Sanitation Service) and the Rockefeller Foundation’s International Health Board in Brazil; and the establishment of a national department of public health stemming from these efforts. The analysis emphasizes the racism of IHB director Wickliffe Rose which led him to dismiss the modernizing potential of sertanejos and to attribute their diseases to racial weakness. This is contrasted with Penna’s rejection of racial and climatic determinism.

Industrialised house builders in Sweden have been challenged to meet the demand for housing solutions as the population has increased at a faster rate. As a result, the housing industry is currently faced with objectives to improve productivity and internal efficiency while also controlling the production cost of houses without compromising external efficiency. To remain competitive, many companies developed own building system (BS) based on fixed or partially fixed production systems with different prefabrication techniques. The challenges remain in the design phase and proper methods and tools are required to manage it. In many industries, the product platform approach has been used as a means to achieve both internal and external efficiency. However, little attention has been paid in relating the platform approach to building system support in the design phase of Industrialised house building (IHB). Thus, the main purpose of this paper is to explore the current state of the industrialised house building system and outline design support solutions for the building system from a product platform approach. Qualitative research was conducted by linking a single case company working with post and beam building system in combination with a literature review. Empirical data were gathered from five semi-structured interviews and two workshop sections. A cause-effect analysis has been conducted to realize the potential causes of challenges in the design process. The result illustrates a methodology with principle solutions that can be used as design support for the case company as a path forward and improve further from a product platform perspective.

Abstract:
Abstract An efficient Galerkin averaging-incremental harmonic balance (EGA-IHB) method is developed based on the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and tensor contraction to increase efficiency and robustness of the IHB method when calculating periodic responses of complex nonlinear systems with non-polynomial nonlinearities. As a semi-analytical method, derivation of formulae and programming are significantly simplified in the EGA-IHB method. The residual vector and Jacobian matrix corresponding to nonlinear terms in the EGA-IHB method are expressed using truncated Fourier series. After calculating Fourier coefficient vectors using the FFT, tensor contraction is used to calculate the Jacobian matrix, which can significantly improve numerical efficiency. Since inaccurate results may be obtained from discrete Fourier transform-based methods when aliasing occurs, the minimal non-aliasing sampling rate is determined for the EGA-IHB method. Performances of the EGA-IHB method are analyzed using several benchmark examples; its accuracy, efficiency, convergence, and robustness are analyzed and compared with several widely used semi-analytical methods. The EGA-IHB method has high efficiency and good robustness for both polynomial and nonpolynomial nonlinearities, and it has considerable advantages over the other methods.

Abstract In this work, a new incremental harmonic balance (IHB) method with two time scales, where one is a fundamental frequency, and the other is an interval distance of two adjacent frequencies, is proposed for quasi-periodic motions of an axially moving beam with three-to-one internal resonance under singletone external excitation. It is found that the interval frequency of every two adjacent frequencies, located around the fundamental frequency or one of its integer multiples, is fixed due to nonlinear coupling among resonant vibration modes. Consequently, only two time scales are used in the IHB method to obtain all incommensurable frequencies of quasi-periodic motions of the axially moving beam. The present IHB method can accurately trace from periodic responses of the beam to its quasi-periodic motions. For periodic responses of the axially moving beam, the single fundamental frequency is used in the IHB method to obtain solutions. For quasi-periodic motions of the beam, the present IHB method with two time scales is used, along with an amplitude increment approach that includes a large number of harmonics, to determine all the frequency components. All the frequency components and their corresponding amplitudes, obtained from the present IHB method, are in excellent agreement with those from numerical integration using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method.

Abstract:
Co-utilization of solid fuels with combustion turbines (CTs) can be accomplished by blending feedstocks in indirectly heated gasifier/liquifiers (IHG/L), Blending could improve the quality and yields of gaseous and liquid fuel outputs and, with gas clean-up (GCU) or liquid distillation, serve valuable societal functions. Gas yields vs. temperature, time and other variables have been obtained using batch fed and continuous fed laboratory scale IHG/Ls using particle sizes suitable for commercial systems. The rates of solids to gas/liquid conversion are mainly dependent upon the heat transfer and diffusion coefficients of the biomass rather than the rate constants for chemical decomposition. Phenomenological engineering formulas are developed for use with biomass that can be treated as a blend of hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin. The main immediate goals are to develop: 1) laboratory scale process development units (PDUs) that can help anticipate results with commercial IHG/L systems, 2) predictive models for estimating gaseous, liquid and char yields when various blends of biomass and other domestic fuels are processed in IHG/Ls and 3) applications of IHG-GCU-CT systems that could drive technology development during periods of low oil and natural gas prices.

Abstract A new incremental harmonic balance (IHB) method with two time scales procedure is used to analyze quasi-periodic motion of multiple degrees of freedom systems with cubic nonlinearity. An amplitude increment algorithm is adapted to deal with cases where the two frequencies are unknown a priori, in order to automatically trace frequency response of quasi-periodic motion of the system and accurately calculate all frequency components and their corresponding amplitudes. Results of application of the present IHB method to quasi-periodic free vibration of the nonlinear system are shown and compared with previously published results with Lau method and those from numerical integration. While differences are noted between results predicted by the present IHB method and Lau method, excellent agreement is achieved between results from the present IHB method and numerical integration even in cases of strongly nonlinear vibration.

Abstract:
This paper presents solutions to a one-dimensional solid-liquid phase change problem using the integral method for a semi-infinite material that generates internal heat. The analysis assumed a quadratic temperature profile and a constant temperature boundary condition on the exposed surface. We derived a differential equation for the solidification thickness as a function of the internal heat generation (IHG) and the Stefan number, which includes the temperature of the boundary. Plots of the numerical solutions for various values of the IHG and Stefan number show the time-dependant behavior of both the melting and solidification distances and rates. The IHG of the material opposes solidification and enhances melting. The differential equation shows that in steady-state, the thickness of the solidification band is inversely related to the square root of the IHG. The model also shows that the melting rate initially decreases and reaches a local minimum, then increases to an asymptotic value.

Abstract:
We present solutions for solid-liquid phase change in materials that generate internal heat. This problem is solved for both cylindrical and semi-infinite geometries. The analysis assumes a temperature profile in the solid phase and constant temperature boundary conditions on the exposed surfaces. We derive differential equations governing the solidification thickness for both geometries as functions of the Stefan number and the internal heat generation (IHG). For the cylindrical geometry, the solidification layer obtains a steady-state value which is related to the inverse of the square root of the IHG. The solutions to the semi-infinite geometry problem show that when the surface is cooled to below the freezing point, a solidification layer forms along the edge and begins to grow until it reaches a maximum, then begins remelt.
