This study aimed to document the detailed features of the hind limb bones in chinchillas (Chinchilla lanigera). Twenty chinchillas (10 females and 10 males) were used. Animals were euthanized and X-ray of appendicular skeleton of pelvis was taken immediately. Then the bones were macerated. The iliac wing was considerably long and the gluteal line formed a distinct crista. The sacropelvic surface (facies sacropelvina) was not observed, however, the iliac tuberosity (tuberositas iliaca) was evident. While the average distance between the midacetabulum and the tuber coxae (ventral iliac spine) wa

SummaryTwenty-eight feline pelves (56 hemipelves) were examined in order to identify the location for optimal sacroiliac screw placement in sacroiliac fracture-luxation repair. A drill hole was started on the median plane of the hemipelvis in the centre of the body of the first sacral segment until it penetrated the lateral cortex of the ilial wing, thus providing optimal drill hole placement. The position of the drill hole on the articular surface of the sacral wing and on the lateral surface of the ilial wing was measured. The distance of the drill hole from the cranial margin of the sacral

There is currently a lack of information on presentation patterns and the appropriate investigation and treatment of aortic brucellosis. Herein a case affecting the iliac component of an aorto-iliac aneurysm, managed successfully with in situ graft repair, is reported. A review of the literature identified 25 cases, with the infrarenal abdominal aorta (65%) followed by the ascending thoracic aorta (23%) being mostly affected; only our case involved the iliacs. Aortic brucellosis affected mostly older men, caused pain more often than fever (in 73% and 57%, respectively), and involved frequently

Abstract: In Iliad 1, Achilles challenges Agamemnon to save the Greeks from misrule and the gods. Under similar circumstances in Iliad 2, it is not the best of the Achaeans who stands against Agamemnon but the man considered by many to be the worst. Thersites is part of a poetic strategy, evident in both the Iliad and Odyssey , to generate investment and suspense in extended narratives by introducing the hero only to replace him with less impressive but still potentially promising substitutes. By playing Achilles’ part poorly, Thersites encourages anticipation for Achilles’ return, but he simu
