Abstract:
Imam Abu Hanifa , descended from Persian lineage and hailed from Kabul, was born in the city of Kufa in Iraq. He spent most of his life in Kufa, where he was a student, teacher, and debater. Born in Kufa in 80 AH/699 CE, he passed away in 150 AH/767 CE and was buried in Baghdad. Initially, Imam Abu Hanifa engaged in the study of Kalam (Islamic theology) but later shifted his focus to Islamic jurisprudence. According to Imam Abu Hanifa, faith (Iman) comprises verbal acknowledgment and heartfelt conviction. While conviction is immutable, verbal acknowledgment may lapse in certain circumstances.
