Abstract:
Abstract Beyond national history. The Rawagede Massacre told as an entangled historyIn a historic first, the ruling of a civil court in The Hague in 2011 obliged the Dutch state to take responsibility for a mass execution perpetrated by Dutch military in the West Javanese village of Rawagede in 1947. Sixty-four years after the end of Indonesia’s struggle for independence (1945-1949) some justice has been served. This article explores several of its unintended historiographical effects. Taking the armed conflict between states as a frame of reference was an inevitable starting point for the court case, but the consequence is that national perspectives (Dutch colonizer / Indonesian colonized) are centered. Consequently, the entanglement of local experiences and transnational dynamics remains invisible. By presenting the so-called ‘Rawagede case’ as a form of entangled history instead of consisting of two antagonistic opposites, we believe that space can be created, within both the Dutch and Indonesian contexts, for multiple positions and perspectives. In doing so, this article offers alternative frames to (Dutch) historians who have argued for writing histories that challenge the still dominant national discourse in postcolonial historiography.

Abstract:
Using in vitro autoradiography, the distribution of 2-[125I]iodomelatonin (IMEL) binding sites in the brain of the pied flycatcher and the zebra finch was examined. The results show IMEL binding in retinofugal, tectofugal and thalamofugal brain areas of the visual system. Additionally, IMEL binding sites were detected in the ectostriatum, the thalamus, the mesencephalon and the limbic system. No IMEL binding could be demonstrated in the pineal gland, the hippocampus, the nucleus suprachiasmaticus, the visual wulst or the pituitary.

Abstract:
An improved online multiple instance learning (IMIL) for a visual tracking algorithm is proposed. In the IMIL algorithm, the importance of each instance contributing to a bag probability is with respect to their probabilities. A selection strategy based on an inner product is presented to choose weak classifier from a classifier pool, which avoids computing instance probabilities and bag probabilityMtimes. Furthermore, a feedback strategy is presented to update weak classifiers. In the feedback update strategy, different weights are assigned to the tracking result and template according to the maximum classifier score. Finally, the presented algorithm is compared with other state-of-the-art algorithms. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed tracking algorithm runs in real-time and is robust to occlusion and appearance changes.

Abstract:
Study Design: Cross-sectional observational study.Purpose: This study aimed to analyze any potential associations of extramyocellular lipid (EMCL) and intramyocellular lipid (IMCL) contents with (1) the intensity of low back pain (LBP); (2) age, cross-sectional area (CSA), and fatty infiltration (FI) of the psoas major; and (3) spinopelvic parameters.Overview of Literature: The psoas major has clinically relevant function; however, the association of this muscle with chronic LBP is controversial. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy enables a detailed analysis of the composition of muscular fat tissues such as its EMCL and IMCL contents. Methods: The study population comprised 40 patients (19 males, 21 females; mean age, 61.7±2.4 years). Possible correlations of LBP Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores, age, CSA, FI, and spinopelvic parameters with EMCL and IMCL contents of the psoas major were assessed. Results: No association was identified between the EMCL and IMCL contents and LBP VAS scores (<i>r</i>=0.05, <i>p</i>=0.79 and <i>r</i>=0.06, <i>p</i>=0.75, respectively). The EMCL content correlated with age (<i>r</i>=0.47, <i>p</i><0.01), body mass index (BMI) (<i>r</i>=0.44, <i>p</i><0.01), CSA (<i>r</i>=−0.59, <i>p</i>< 0.01), and FI (<i>r</i>=0.49, <i>p</i><0.01). EMCL content showed a significant negative correlation with sacral slope (SS) (<i>r</i>=−0.43, <i>p</i><0.05) and positive correlation with pelvic tilt (PT) (<i>r</i>=0.56, <i>p</i><0.01).Conclusions: EMCL content correlated with age, BMI, CSA, and FI of the psoas major, while IMCL content had no correlation. This study found correlations between SS and PT and EMCL content of the psoas major, but no correlations were found between spinopelvic parameters and IMCL content of the psoas major.

Abstract:
In the transmission expansion planning (TEP) problem, it is challenging to consider a fault current level constraint due to the time-consuming update process of the bus impedance matrix, which is required to calculate the fault currents during the search for the optimal solution. In the existing studies, either a nonlinear update equation or its linearized version is used to calculate the updated bus impedance matrix. In the former case, there is a problem in that the mathematical formulation is derived in the form of mixed-integer nonlinear programming. In the latter case, there is a problem in that an error due to the linearization may exist and the change of fault currents in other buses that are not connected to the new transmission lines cannot be detected. In this paper, we use a method to obtain the exact updated bus impedance matrix directly from the inversion of the bus admittance matrix. We propose a novel method based on the inverse matrix modification lemma (IMML) and a valid inequality is proposed to find a better solution to the TEP problem with fault current level constraint. The proposed method is applied to the IEEE two-area reliability test system with 96 buses to verify the performance and effectiveness of the proposed method and we compare the results with the existing methods. Simulation results show that the existing TEP method based on impedance matrix modification method violates the fault current level constraint in some buses, while the proposed method satisfies the constraint in all buses in a reasonable computation time.

Abstract:
Previous autoradiography studies illustrated that several areas of the avian brain can bind the pineal hormone melatonin. In birds, there are three melatonin receptor (MelR) subtypes: MelIa, MelIb and MelIc. To date, their brain distribution has not been studied in any passerine bird. Therefore, we investigated mRNA distribution of MelR subtypes in adjacent sections of the brain of two songbirds, the blackcap and the zebra finch, in parallel with that of 2-[125I]-iodomelatonin (IMEL) binding sites in the same brains. The general pattern of receptor expression shown by in situ hybridization of species-specific probes matched well with that of IMEL binding. However, the expression of the three subtypes was area specific with similar patterns in the two species. Some brain areas expressed only one receptor subtype, most brain regions co-expressed either MelIa with MelIb or MelIa with MelIc, whereas few areas expressed MelIb and MelIc or all three receptor subtypes. Since many sensory areas, most thalamic areas and subareas of the neopallium, a cortex analogue, express MelR, it is likely that most sensory motor integration functions are melatonin sensitive. Further, the area-specific expression patterns suggest that the regulatory role of melatonin differs among different brain areas. Since subareas of well-defined neural circuits, such as the visual system or the song control system, are equipped with different receptor types, we hypothesize a diversity of functions for melatonin in the control of sensory integration and behavior.

The software development processes proposed by the most recent approaches in Software Engineering make use old models. UML was proposed as the standard language for modeling. The user interface is an important part of the software and has a fundamental importance to improve its usability. Unfortunately the standard UML does not offer appropriate resources to model user interfaces. Some proposals have already been proposed to solve this problem: some authors have been using models in the development of interfaces (Model Based Development) and some proposals to extend UML have been elaborated. But none of them considers the theoretical perspective presented by the semiotic engineering, that considers that, through the system, the designer should be able to communicate to the user what he can do, and how to use the system itself. This work presents Visual IMML, an UML Profile that emphasizes the aspects of the semiotic engineering. This Profile is based on IMML, that is a declarative textual language. The Visual IMML is a proposal that aims to improve the specification process by using a visual modeling (using diagrams) language. It proposes a new set of modeling elements (stereotypes) specifically designed to the specification and documentation of user interfaces, considering the aspects of communication, interaction and functionality in an integrated manner

This work presents an ontology to describe the semantics of IMML (Interactive Message Modeling Language) an XML-based User Interface Description Language. The ontology presents the description of all IMML elements including a natural language description and semantic rules and relationships. The ontology is implemented in OWL-DL, a standard language to ontology description that is recommended by W3C. Our main goal is to describe the semantic using languages and tools that can be processed by computers. As a consequence, we develop tools to the validation of a user interface specification and also to present the semantic description in different views

With hardware and software technologies advance, it s also happenning modifications in the development models of computational systems. New methodologies for user interface specification are being created with user interface description languages (UIDL). The UIDLs are a way to have a precise description in a language with more abstraction and independent of how will be implemented. A great problem is that even using these nowadays methodologies, we still have a big distance between the UIDLs and its design, what means, the distance between abstract and concrete. The tool BRIDGE (Interface Design Generator Environment) was created with the intention of being a linking bridge between a specification language (the Interactive Message Modeling Language IMML) and its implementation in Java, linking the abstract (specification) to the concrete (implementation). IMML is a language based on models, that allows the designer works in distinct abstraction levels, being each model a distinct abstraction level. IMML is a XML language, that uses the Semiotic Engineering concepts, that deals the computational system, with the user interface and its elements like a metacommunicative artifact, where these elements must to transmit a message to the user about what task must to be realized and the way to reach this goal. With BRIDGE, we intend to supply a lot of support to the design task, being the user interface prototipation the greater of them. BRIDGE allows the design becomes easier and more intuitive coming from an interface specification language

It is increasingly common use of a single computer system using different devices - personal computers, telephones cellular and others - and software platforms - systems graphical user interfaces, Web and other systems. Depending on the technologies involved, different software architectures may be employed. For example, in Web systems, it utilizes architecture client-server - usually extended in three layers. In systems with graphical interfaces, it is common architecture with the style MVC. The use of architectures with different styles hinders the interoperability of systems with multiple platforms. Another aggravating is that often the user interface in each of the devices have structure, appearance and behaviour different on each device, which leads to a low usability. Finally, the user interfaces specific to each of the devices involved, with distinct features and technologies is a job that needs to be done individually and not allow scalability. This study sought to address some of these problems by presenting a reference architecture platform-independent and that allows the user interface can be built from an abstract specification described in the language in the specification of the user interface, the MML. This solution is designed to offer greater interoperability between different platforms, greater consistency between the user interfaces and greater flexibility and scalability for the incorporation of new devices
This work presents an User Interface (UI) prototypes generation process to the softwares that has a Web browser as a plataform. This process uses UI components more complex than HTML elements. To described this components more complex this work suggest to use the XICL (eXtensinble User Interface Components Language). XICL is a language, based on XML syntax, to describe UI Components and IUs. XICL promotes extensibility and reusability in the User Interface development process. We have developed two compiler. The first one compiles IMML (Interactive Message Modeling Language) code and generates XICL code. The second one compiles XICL code and generates DHTML code

Abstract:
Visual instructional design languages currently provide notations for representing the intermediate and final results of a knowledge engineering process. As some languages particularly focus on the formal representation of a learning design that can be transformed into machine interpretable code (i.e., IML-LD players), others have been developed to support the creativity of designers while exploring their problem-spaces and solutions. This chapter introduces CPM (Computer Problem-based Metamodel), a visual language for the instructional design of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) situations. On the one hand, CPM sketches of a PBL situation can improve communication within multidisciplinary ID teams; on the other hand, CPM blueprints can describe the functional components that a Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) system should offer to support such a PBL situation. We first present the aims and the fundamentals of CPM language. Then, we analyze CPM usability using a set of CPM diagrams produced in a case study in a ‘real-world’ setting

Abstract:
In the case of vessels are moored at the quay, the drift and the wash up to the quay due to the broke of mooring lines is occurred by the tsunamis. In the previous study, the authors are examined to the applicability of the proposed tsunami protection measures as the install more mooring lines (IMML) and the floating tsunami protection wharf (FTPW). However, the Fender influences were not considered in previous authors studies. In this study, the fender influences are considered on the numerical simulation. The three-dimensional MPS (Moving Particle Semi-implicit) method is used as numerical simulation method. The linear compressing spring model is used as the fender model. The fender influences were investigated against the influences of tsunami protection measures using IMML and the damage status of vessel.
