The plants which cause sudden death of cattle in Brazil occupy a leading position for losses in the cattle industry. Amorimia exotropica is one of the plants pertaining to this group. Diagnostic findings in these cases may be inconclusive; further knowledge is necessary. This paper identifies cardiac lesions through anti-cardiac troponin C (cTnC) immunehistochemistry performed in tissues from cattle poisoned after consumption of A.exotropica in southern Brazil. Heart fragments from nine A. exotropica-poisoned cattle were studied immunohistochemically using anti-human cTnC as the primary antibo

Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-2 (TREM-2) restrains phagocytosis of both dendritic cells (DCs) and macrophages(MΦs), and reduces release of inflammatory cytokines through DAP12-mediated inhibitory signal, prompting us to investigate the role of TREM-2 involved in immune dysfunction among tumor-bearing host. Methods: In lung cancer patients, monocytes of peripheral blood were

Abstract Background Immunotherapy has grown to a rapidly advancing sphere of research on modern strategies for treatment of cancer. A well-known way of immunomodulation is the principle of immune checkpoints leading to a down-regulated immune response in tumor microenvironment. Recently, beside the PD1/PD-L1 pathway, several immunecheckpoint pathways have been found. However, almost nothing is known about the expression and the correlation as prognostic factor in esophageal adenocarcinoma. Methods Two tissue micro arrays (TMA) were construced, a multi-spot TMA with up to 8 spots from different

Abstract Abstract 1555 Background: Tumor-infiltrating immune cells perform important functions in host immune reaction against tumor cells including diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Recently, variable tumor-infiltrating cells were reported to give a influence for prognosis, for example, regulatory T cell (T reg), cytotoxic T cell, macrophage and mast cell etc. Among these microenvironmental cells, we focused on Treg cell, and we assessed the distribution and prognostic significance of these cells in DLBCL. Caffeoylquinic acids, coumarins and dicaffeoyl derivatives are considered to be three kinds of the most abundant bioactive components in Sarcandra glabra, an anti-inflammatory herb mainly found in Southern Asia. The combined anti-inflammatory effect of three typical constituents C + R + I (chlorogenic acid + rosmarinic acid + isofraxidin) from this plant has been investigated. The result implies that targeting the MAPK-NF-κB pathway would be one of the major mechanisms involved, using LPS stimulated RAW 264.7 cells as in vitro model and LPS-induced acute lung injury in mice as in vivo model. Abstract:
