Abstract:
The paper illustrates the results of determination of HBsAg and HCV occurrence in patients blood serum with suspecting viral hepatitis (VH) by usage of immunochromatographic (IC) express-tests of ―Farmasko‖ company. This gives the opportunity to identify the presence of HBV and HCV viruses, and to diagnose VH. IC express-tests results on HBsAg showed 10 (5%) patients analyses out of 201 to be positive for the presence HBV. IC analysis was verified by immunoenzyme analysis (IEA) in 80% patients. IC express-tests results on HCV displayed 46 patients samples (13.6%) out of 343 to be positive on H

Background: Hepatitis B and C viruses (HBV and HCV) are major causes of liver disease worldwide, with significant prevalence in low-resource settings. Rapid and accurate diagnosis is crucial for effective management and control of these infections. This study compares the efficacy of immunochromatographic tests (ICT) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the screening of HBV and HCV. Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of ICT in comparison with ELISA for the detection of HBsAg and anti-HCV in a semi-urban, low-resource setting. Aims: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections during pregnancy have a risk of transmission to the newborn. Therefore, pregnant women are routinely screened for HBV and HCV in many countries. This study aimed to reveal the seroprevalence of HBsAg, anti-HBs, and anti-HCV in pregnant women in the Kastamonu region and to compare the obtained data with the results of studies conducted in Turkey. Methods: Pregnant women who applied to Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital Microbiology laboratory between January 2022 and January 2023 for HBsAg, anti-HBs, and anti-HCV tests w

Background The burden of HIV, HBV, and HCV infections remains disproportionately high in sub-Saharan Africa, with high rates of co-infections. Multiplex rapid diagnostic tests for HIV, HBV and HCV serological testing with high analytical performances may improve the “cascade of screening” and quite possibly the linkage-to-care with reduced cost. Based on our previous field experience of HIV self-testing, we herein aimed at evaluating the practicability and acceptability of a prototype finger-stick whole-blood Triplex HIV/HCV/HBsAg self-test as a simultaneous serological screening tool for HIV,

Abstract:
Background: Thalassemia is a group of inherited hemoglobinopathies characterized by defective synthesis of alpha or beta globin chains, leading to microcytic hypochromic anemia. Patients with beta thalassemia major require lifelong blood transfusions to maintain adequate hemoglobin levels, increasing their risk of transfusion-transmitted infections (TTIs) such as hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). In regions with limited blood screening infrastructure, such as parts of Pakistan, this risk becomes a critical public health concern. Objective: To determine the prevalence of HBV

BACKGROUND Blood transfusion is a common life-saving medical procedure, but it may cause acute and delayed complications. A transfusion transmissible infection (TTI) is any infection that is transmissible from person-to-person through parenteral administration of blood or blood products i.e. packed red blood cells (RBC), platelets, plasma and other blood products. This study was undertaken to assess the prevalence of transfusion transmissible infections among blood donors in blood bank connected to a tertiary care hospital in Kerala and evaluate the safety of the blood donations. Background. HCV and HBV present a great challenge in the management of β-thalassemia patients. Objective. The present study aimed to determine the prevalence of both HBV and HCV in multitransfused-dependent β-thalassemia patients in northern West Bank, Palestine, using sero-molecular markers. Methods. Serum sample from 139 multitransfused β-thalassemia patients were tested for HBV and HCV markers including HBsAg, anti-HBc, anti-HBs, HBV-DNA, and anti-HCV and HCV-RNA. Abstract:
Immunization with hepatitis B (HB) vaccine is highly effective; however, more needs to be learned about the duration of protection and the need of booster dose. Present study suggest that age of vaccination is very important also it is observed that there is waning effect of vaccine after a long period. Our study throw light on the reliability of qualitative and quantitative tests to observe seropositivity of HBs antibodies. Qualitative detection of HBsAg was done with the help of chromatographic Hepacard method. For HBsAb detection we have done Immunochromatographic assay (Westernblotting). I
