Endosulfan, as an effective broad-spectrum insecticide, has been banned in agricultural areas because of the potential harmful effects on human health. This study aimed to develop an indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ic-ELISA) and colloidal gold immunochromatographic (ICA) strip based on a prepared monoclonal antibody (mAb) for quantitative and qualitative detection of endosulfan. A new mAb with high sensitivity and affinity was designed and screened. The ic-ELISA showed a 50% inhibition concentration (IC50) value of 5.16 ng/mL for endosulfan. Under optimum conditions, th

Immunochemical-based methods for the detection of Salmonella in food can be complicated by the presence of closely related, immunocrossreactive non-Salmonella species in the sample that may cause false-positive results. To circumvent this problem, specific bacteriophages against immunocrossreactive, non-Salmonella bacteria were used in the sample enrichment step to suppress their growth and improve the performance of an immunochromatographic strip–based detection method for Salmonella. Cross-reactive bacteria were isolated from various food sources and were characterized with a panel of Salmon

Globally, hepatitis B infection is a serious health problem as its morbities are difficult to handle with the commonly used antivirals. This study therefore aims to evaluate the serological, biochemical and hematological markers of Hepatitis B virus infection in a discordant partner in an attempt to aid proper diagnosis, management and control of the infection. This is a cross-sectional study consisting of 150 subjects recruited using a simple random sampling technique. Over the past decades, several tools have been developed for food pathogen detection, including proteomics, metabolomics, immunological, biosensor, and nucleic acid-based approaches. Although these techniques are reliable and precise, they are time-consuming, technically challenging, and costly. Hence, it is necessary to develop rapid techniques for food pathogen detection, which can be performed at the household level. Protein residues can persist even on the surface of stone tools over archaeological time spans. The structure of proteins contains information—amino acid abundances or sequence, specialized structures, etc.—that can be used to identify the origin of such residues. Chemical tests have long been used to identify haemoglobin, a protein in blood, though these tests suffer from poor specificity. Antibodies undergo highly selective reactions with species-specific proteins, but in archaeological contexts, the higher-order protein structure upon which that specificity relies is often lost or degraded.

Chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a clinical syndrome characterized by destruction of platelets by antiplatelet antiboodies. The precise pathogenic mechanism of platelet destruction in ITP is not known, although many investigators have reported that platelet-associated IgG (PAIgG) is increased in this desease. We have evaluated PAIgG in 66 patients with ITP by a competitive solidphase microenzyme immunoassay and investigated its specificity aganist antiplatelet antibody in 24 patients with ITP by Western blotting.
