Abstract:
Research in ancient Roman architectural design has come increasingly to the view that geometry was often as important as metrication and proportion. The present paper examines the contribution of both geometry and arithmetic to the design of the four imperial fora in Rome, as well as the closely related Temple of Peace. An analysis of the Forum of Augustus-the best-known of the imperial fora-shows that it was designed according to a geometric model with a particular size utilizing a "base dimension" of 146 Roman feet. Analyses of the other fora show that the same geometric model-but with a base dimension of 150 feet-can be used to generate their basic spatial divisions and dimensions. The model accounts not only for straightforward and integral dimensions or proportions, but also for irrational and nonintegral proportions hitherto unexplained. The article argues that the mixture of integral, nonintegral, and irrational metrication was a deliberate aspect of the design process, in line with the Early Imperial propensity to combine rectilinear and curvilinear architectural forms. The article concludes with a suggestion that the model originated in the Etruscan ritual division of space, which was adopted by the Romans and later applied to an increasingly broad range of building types. The model may thus have served as a kind of template or cosmogram whereby each building designed on it could embody essential features of cosmic order. It gave to each Roman building its uniquely "Italic" flavor quite separate from Greek "cosmetics." If the model's application proves to be sufficiently broad, then the possibility is raised of developing a "unified design theory" for Etruscan and Roman architecture. These issues will be broached in future articles.

In seeking the origins of the celebrated portico-framed fora of Imperial Rome, John R. Senseney explores the earliest recognizable example of this architectural type, a lost porticus of the 160s BCE built by the victorious commander Gnaeus Octavius. Adrift toward Empire: The Lost Porticus Octavia in Rome and the Origins of the Imperial Fora adduces ancient testimony to aid our understanding of the purposes and formal appearance of this pivotal monument. While the author suggests that Octavius emulated a Hellenistic model, he does not posit that the patron necessarily sought to associate his triumph with those of his Greek forebears. Those meanings did, however, become attached to the building type by later viewers and the architects who created the Imperial fora. In order to appreciate this phenomenon, the author questions the usefulness of fixed categories like "Hellenistic" and "Roman" and argues for a history sensitive to the fluidic intentions and changing meanings of architecture.

Movement, particularly repeated or ritualized movement, can play an important role in the practices of cultural memory. Using Jan Assmann’s concept of cultural and communicative memory to explore the creation and reproduction of cultural memory through movement, Memory and Movement in the Roman Fora from Antiquity to Metro C illuminates the enduring influence of ancient street networks on the modern cityscape. The Forum Romanum and the neighboring Imperial Fora were places of memory in antiquity and are major tourist sites today, but they had different relationships to urban movement networks in the past. Amy Russell argues that the pattern of long-term continuity and recent change in each area’s relationship to the wider city and its movement patterns are direct consequences of the way cultural heritage has been consumed and cultural memory constructed through movement.

Resumo O artigo tem por objetivo discutir os mecanismos de organização da assistência à saúde em Juiz de Fora (MG), na segunda metade do século XIX. Investigaram-se quais arranjos foram organizados para prover cuidado aos doentes e como essa estrutura se ajustou às demandas do cenário sociopolítico e econômico. Percebe-se que, enquanto perdurou o sistema escravista, o protagonismo do Hospital da Caridade juiz-forano foi irrelevante, uma vez que as fazendas de café possuíam instalações capazes de assistir os doentes. A fundação daquele equipamento de saúde cumpriu a função de catapultar o fazendeiro José Antonio da Silva Pinto – barão de Bertioga – no cenário da nobilitação à brasileira e de acomodar as exigências da legislação imperial nos moldes dos arranjos personalistas.

Abstract:
Despite the old image of degradation and fall, modern research has shown that Roman Greece underwent a series of changes which are best reflected in the central public space of the ancient city, the agora. A variety of different factors, such as the dynamic presence of the local elite, the exploitation of the past, the imperial presence and most importantly the will to maximise functionality and monumentality, contributed to the formation of the spatial and architectural framework of the agora. In many cities the development of the agora is best described as the juxtaposition of old and new, which was achieved by the preservation and enhancement of the traditional landscape as well as by its enrichment with new buildings, many of which, like the Roman-style baths, improved the provision of services. In this context the term Romanisation describes the effort of each city to adapt to the requirements of the urban framework of the Imperial period, a framework characterised by monumentality and functionality. Roman colonies were the newest additions in the city pattern of Greece. In contrast to the Roman colonies in the west, many of the Roman foundations in Greece were founded over pre-existing cities with long histories. Therefore, they raise a series of questions concerning not only their architectural development but also the process of restructuring the existing landscape in order to create an urban framework that reflects their romanitas.

Este artigo apresenta uma breve análise de duas obras voltadas à educação do público infantil durante o século XIX: o Tesouro de Meninas e o seu congênere, o Tesouro de Meninos. Publicados originalmente na Europa, estes livros ajudaram a difundir modelos de comportamento para os/as filhos/as das camadas médias e altas da sociedade brasileira do Império. O conteúdo dessas obras mesclava lições de história, geografia e ciências naturais com lições de ordem moral constituindo um compêndio de conhecimentos gerais para uso nas escolas e na educação doméstica. Os textos destes livros foram compostos no formato de diálogos em que um personagem adulto ensina às crianças as regras do bem viver dentro e fora de casa. Como recursos didáticos, estes livros se valiam de contos, fábulas e biografias de celebridades históricas, de modo a introjetarem nos/as pequenos/as leitores/as os exemplos de conduta que deveriam seguir. Através de suas páginas, meninos e meninas deveriam aprender, assim, a representar os papéis sociais almejados por seus progenitores numa sociedade organicamente constituída.

A expansão da marinha mercante britânica na era do vapor foi estimulada pelo emprego de tripulações do subcontinente indiano. Entre os mais mal pagos do mercado, os marinheiros indianos eram os trabalhadores internacionais pioneiros que compunham quase um terço da força de trabalho na marinha britânica em 1937. Rotulados genericamente como “lascars”, seu emprego em regimes semelhantes a contratos firmados reforçou o status de “coolies”, promoveu a desoneração/desqualificação do trabalho marítimo e instituiu hierarquias racializadas no trabalho na marinha mercante, que perduram até hoje dentro e fora do setor. Este artigo apresenta um breve relato das condições de vida e de trabalho dos marinheiros subcontinentais, explora a atitude dos sindicatos britânicos em relação ao emprego dessas tripulações e destaca sua crucial contribuição para a expansão da navegação imperial britânica e, de maneira mais geral, para a dimensão marítima do poder imperial britânico.

Le projet urbanistique et architectural lié à la construction du forum de Trajan à Rome (106 et 113 ap. J.-C) s’inscrit dans la tradition de ceux qui l’ont précédé. Pourtant ses dimensions et les travaux colossaux nécessaires à son établissement en font un projet particulièrement exceptionnel qui a entraîné la transformation totale de l’ensemble de la zone située entre les collines du Capitole et du Quirinal. Cette étude porte sur les modalités de ce réaménagement et ses conséquences non seulement sur la zone du forum, mais également sur l’ensemble du tissu urbain de la ville. Il s’agit d’analyser ce grand programme architectural en soulignant, comment, au-delà de la réalisation de la place publique, a été conçu, autour du complexe impérial, tout un ensemble urbanistique cohérent et surtout entièrement structuré par un nouveau système de circulation complexe. Le contexte urbain avant et après la réalisation du forum sont successivement étudiés et une attention particulière est accordée aux solutions architecturales adoptées afin d’intégrer les nouvelles constructions dans le tissu urbain préexistant. L’objectif est de reconstruire chronologiquement toute l’organisation urbanistique de la zone et de déterminer dans quelle mesure la construction du forum de Trajan a conditionnée le développement de l’Urbs dans son ensemble
The urban and architectural project related to the construction of the Trajan Forum in Rome (106-113 AD) joins the tradition of its predecessors. However, its dimensions and the colossal work needed for its creation make it a one-of-a-kind project, which caused the transformation of the whole area between the Campidoglio and Quirinale hills. This study focuses on the methods of this transformation and on its impact on the proper Forum area, and on the rest of the city’s urban texture. It is an analysis of this big architectural project, beyond the public square, with particular attention to the collection of architectural solutions and to the complicated system of paths created around the imperial complex. The urban context was analysed in parallel, before and after the completion of the Forum, in order to understand better the architectural solutions adopted, and to integrate the new buildings in the pre-existing urban context. The objective is to chronologically reconstruct the whole urban setup of the area, and to determine to which extent the construction of the Trajan Forum conditioned the development of this part of the empire-period Urbs

El Fòrum d’August de Roma va ser una gran plaça pública inaugurada l’any 2 a.C. que es va bastir al voltant del temple de Mart Venjador amb llargs pòrtics revestits de marbres i farcit de cicles icònics escultòrics que resumien la història mítica de la fundació de Roma, els fets dels seus grans homes i la història de la casa d’August, el PaterPatriae. Ens hem centrat en la relació dels diferents espais arquitectònics amb la seva decoració, proposant una lectura dels seus diversos conjunts iconogràfics gràcies al establiment de vincles visuals i simbòlics entre els diferents elements icònics. Aquesta tasca ens ha permès revelar la complexa trama de relacions que s’establiren entre les escultures i relleus que formaven el programa iconogràfic del fòrum.
The Forum of Augustus in Rome was a great public square opened in 2 BC built around the Avenger Mars temple with long marble porticoes and filled with sculpture series that resumed all the history of Rome from its very foundation, the deeds of all its great men and of the house of Augustus, Pater Patriae. We focused on the relationship of the different architectural spaces with the decoration, offering a reading of the multiple iconographic sets using the symbolic and visual links between the iconic elements. This work has allowed us to reveal the complex web of relationships between the sculptures and reliefs that were the iconographic program of the forum.

Abstract:
(i): The first part of this thesis questions the concept of ‘minority’, and the way it has been used to analyze French imperial policy in Syria (‘divide and rule’). Chapter 1 traces the concept’s emergence, showing that it is not self-evidently valid but rather depends on a set of wider social and political circumstances related to the existence of modern nation-states: the minorities of modern Syria cannot be mapped directly back onto the Ottoman millets or religious communities. Chapter 2 examines the term’s application in Syria between the wars: French imperial policy emphasised divisions in Syrian society, but the term ‘minority’ was only systematically attached to these divisions from the 1930s. The concept’s spread in Syria reflects its growing importance in international public discourse worldwide, as the nation-state became the standard state form after World War One. The second part of the thesis uses case studies of particular themes to show how the emergence of minorities illuminates processes of state-formation that have shaped the modern world. Chapters 3 and 4, on the question of ‘separatism’ and the definition of modern Syria’s northern border, examine the spread of effective state authority across a ‘national’ territory. This process bound culturally-divergent populations more tightly into the fabric of a centrally-controlled state, thereby constituting them as ‘minorities’. Chapter 5 examines the debate about a Franco-Syrian treaty leading to Syrian independence, showing that this made the recently-established body of international law on ‘minorities’ in newly-independent states applicable to Syria: the term only became widespread in Syria at this time. Chapter 6 looks at French efforts to reform personal status law in the later 1930s, when the restructuring, on religious lines, of the institutional relationship between the Syrian state and its population created a new uniformity within communities at the national level (one condition for their developing the sense of being ‘minorities’). It also sparked opposition from groups now claiming to represent the ‘majority’. Other Syrians, though, understood their society in different terms.

La Tesi di Laurea qui descritta, ha come oggetto l’Area Archeologica dei Fori Imperiali di Roma. Il progetto prevede un atteggiamento che valorizzi la quota archeologica e che la metta in contatto con la città contemporanea, che le si sviluppa attorno. Due città che appartengono a tempi differenti, ma in stretto contatto. Una relazione che vede vittoriosa la città contemporanea, ma che sottomette la città archeologica dei Fori Imperiali. L’intervento di Tesi, si concentra nel riportare un equilibrio tra le unità stratigrafiche, in cui il disegno della pianta dei Fori riconquista forza e leggibilità. La Via dei Fori Imperiali si trasforma in dispositivo museale, al servizio della fruizione dell’area imperiale. Il nuovo volume si plasma in base alla forza generatrice delle archeologie e ne regola i percorsi museografici. Un progetto che prevede la ridefinizione dei luoghi dei Fori e la loro apertura all'esperienza diretta dei fruitori, che attualmente non è prevista. Lo scopo è quello di progettare per il visitatore una passeggiata archeologica, il più consapevole possibile.

This paper aims at understanding the formation and consolidation of the Brazilian State through an analysis of the judiciary organization. The starting point is the State itself. On the one hand, there is a colonial administrative heritage that results in a continuity line. On the other hand, the process of independence shows a moment of rupture. This study is developed based on this duality. The focus of the analysis is on the judiciary administration in Rio Grande do Sul from 1833 to 1871 – a province inserted late in the Lusitanian domains and constantly involved in wars, sometimes for and sometimes against the Empire. We studied the strategies of the central government to build and modify the judicial apparatus as well as the local specificities that characterized its operation, that is, the insertion of this judiciary structure in the society of Rio Grande do Sul. In this research two ways of administrating justice were found: one was in line with the state interests and the other was permissive to local interests. Thus, we consider that the maintenance of the State, cohesive and unified, of the Imperial Period was guaranteed by the capacity of survival of two parallel and antagonistic interests. In this veiled confrontation, the State seemed doomed to defeat until the Regency Period. However, during the Second Kingdom, the project of normalization, which was first started with the Constitution of 1824, was resumed with redoubled force. From this moment on, the government organized an efficient institutional and political arrangement that allowed the maintenance of the state order. Meanwhile, local authorities resigned themselves to the gaps left by the State to keep performing in them the mandatory vocation. One of these gaps was the judiciary administration that had been configured in a theater of interests in which the magistracy fulfilled double paper.
Este trabalho busca entender a formação e a consolidação do Estado brasileiro através de uma análise da organização judiciária. O ponto de partida é o próprio Estado. Por um lado, há uma herança administrativa colonial que resulta em uma linha de continuidade. Por outro, o processo de Independência evidencia um momento de ruptura. Sobre essa dualidade, constitui-se este estudo. O foco de análise está na administração judiciária do Rio Grande do Sul, entre 1833 e 1871, uma província tardiamente inserida nos domínios lusitanos e constantemente envolvida em conflitos bélicos, ora a favor, ora contra o Império. Foram investigadas as estratégias do governo central na construção e modificação do aparato judiciário, bem como, as especificidades locais que caracterizaram o seu funcionamento, ou seja, a inserção dessa estrutura judiciária junto a sociedade sul-riograndense. Nessa investigação, foram identificadas duas formas de administrar a justiça: uma em consonância com os interesses estatais e outra permissiva aos interesses locais. Por isso, defende-se que a manutenção do Estado, coeso e unificado, do período imperial, foi garantida pela capacidade de sobrevivência de dois interesses paralelos e antagônicos. Nesse embate velado, o Estado, até o período regencial, parecia fadado à derrota; mas, a partir do Segundo Reinado, o projeto de normatização, iniciado com a Constituição de 1824, foi retomado com força redobrada. A partir daí, o governo organizou um eficiente arranjo político institucional que permitiu a manutenção da ordem estatal. Enquanto isso, os poderes locais resignavam-se com as brechas deixadas pelo Estado para continuarem nelas perpetrando a vocação mandatária. Um desses espaços era a administração judiciária, que se configurou num teatro de interesses, no qual a magistratura cumpria duplo papel.

Abstract:
Fortifications are now recognized as a defining feature of the late antique city and in a time of insecurity they were a positive factor for the maintenance of urban life as well as making an important contribution towards imperial defence. But in place of the fora, aqueducts and curiales of the high Roman Empire, the new foundations of the fourth century display new urban typologies derived, in part at least, from patterns of military organization rather than urban organization. This chapter compares the two frontier cities of Amida in Roman Mesopotamia and Tropaeum Traiani in Scythia as examples of new urban foundations in the early fourth century. Detailed structural evidence from the walls of Amida indicates two main phases of construction, one under Valens and a second under Anastasius following the major siege of 502. On the lower Danube the city of Tropaeum Traiani reveals similar features of major defences and urban layout with a range of internal structures including granaries and churches distinct from the typical attributes of the classic Graeco-Roman city.

O presente artigo tem por objeto analisar os primordios da formacao docente no Termo de Mariana no periodo de 1772 a 1835, periodo este que compreendeu a criacao das Aulas Regias e as mudancas das politicas educacionais que ocorreram com a instituicao do Imperio Brasileiro, encerrando - se com a promulgacao da Lei Mineira n. o 13, de 28 de marco de 1835, em resposta ao Ato Adicional de 1834, que delegou as provincias a responsabilidade de organizar a Instrucao Escolar. A partir de entao, o Estado assumiu o ensino na Capitania de Minas com o discurso de civilizar a populacao, devido a ocupacao do territorio ter acontecido de forma descontrolada, do encontro de varios povos e culturas diferentes, formando uma populacao indistinta, constituida em sua maioria por escravos e pessoas desprovidas de instrucao. Neste contexto, as aulas regias foram criadas na America portuguesa a partir da Carta de Lei de 6 de novembro de 1772 e, desde entao, emerge a figura do mestre regio, cuja atribuicao era ensinar aos suditos os principios morais, as regras de civilidade e de boa conduta, como tambem a ler, escrever e contar. No periodo de 1772 a 1835, o Brasil passou pelo sistema colonial ate a vinda da familia real em 1822, demarcando a partir desse momento o sistema imperial. Na fase colonial, as Aulas Regias nao abrangiam toda a Capitania de Minas, mas a partir de 1822, com a formacao do Imperio, iniciou-se o projeto nacional de institucionalizacao e organizacao da profissao docente, que substituiu as Aulas Regias por um projeto de Instrucao Elementar. Com a promulgacao da Lei Mineira n. o 13 de 1835, a provincia de Minas Gerais promoveu mudancas na Educacao, pois regulou o ensino primario, o provimento e o ordenado dos professores. Assim, abordamos o discurso civilizador na Minas colonial pela Coroa portuguesa, as politicas iluministas, a atuacao dos mestres no ensino e a institucionalizacao da profissao docente, estabelecendo um paralelo com as deficiencias da formacao docente nos primordios com a formacao na contemporaneidade e os sentidos da formacao humana. Para tal, realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliografica centrada nas tematicas das reformas pombalinas, o discurso civilizador nas Minas setecentistas, a organizacao do ensino regio, a atuacao dos mestres, as politicas e o processo de institucionalizacao da profissao docente em Minas Gerais com a mudanca do regime colonial para o imperial. ,

One of characteristic features of ancient law was a particular form of restriction on contractual autonomy in the form of provisions on the non-pledgeability of items indispensable for the social or economic life of citizens. This paper outlines the evolution of the closely related provisions in the Code of Hammurabi, the Decalogue, the Code of Gortyn, and Roman Imperial Constitutions, and considers the underlying motives for their enactment. A particular question is whether the relevant norms on non-pledgeability of the Roman Imperial period were motivated by a Christian tendency to favour the debtor (favor debitoris).

Abstract:
The mathematical models, which describe the transfer process in Imperial Smelting Furnace (ISF) of Pb-Zn, were established by means of the rules of metallurgical reaction engineering, mass and energy conservation. These models took into account 4 important chemical reactions, heat and mass transfer between gas and solid. The solid particles were treated as porous media when the diffusion of the gas was calculated. The main parameters, such as temperature, the mass of every species, etc, were measured for an operating ISF, and were used as boundary conditions. Based on the Fortran program language, the code to solve the corresponding govern equations was developed, and thermal processes in the furnace were numerically simulated. The results show that the maximum temperature is about 1870K, which is around 1m from the inlet of primary air. The temperature of gas from the top of burden is about 1300K, which is lower than that in the similar furnace. So, it is necessary to take some means to decrease the heat loss from the wall of ISF. A lot of CO exists in the flue gas, which can be used as fuel of boiler or combustion equipment. Based on the mass flow rate and temperature distribution of gas and burden in ISF, the height of five zones, i.e. preheating zone, PbO reduction zone, ZnO reduction zone, coke gasification zone and coke combustion zone, are respectively 2.0m, 0.6m, 3.8m, 4.0m and 2.5m The predicted results by the model are accordant with the measured values in an operating ISF.

The actual area of the Imperial Forums is presented as a big urban void in which the scale of the city has been lost. A "no man's land", inhospitable, to which you could assign the qualifying of "non-place". A huge and fragmented "archaeological park" in which the observer is not able of relate the rests and recognise the trace of the ancient forums. This problems have been adressed within the framework of the "Workshop of Conservation and Intervention" of the MCPA Master of the UPV, in which have been suggested differente strategies, both of search of the sewn of the city, and of the recognition of the different historical stratums existing on the place. To the same extent, this topic has been an international contest object, on which the proposal we have presented comes from a “modern” attitude, that helps us going beyond the evocative power of the ruin, or from its value as a referent from the past. An attitude which seeks to inhabit the ruin, occupy and settle it with architectures that renew its value, they are commited with the past and the present, and they guarantee their future presence. In this sense, the wanted and searched condition of "presence", is not as supported by the recovery of what have existed as it is by the ability of the intervention by accepting the transformations which have happened throughout history, introducing in turn a new stratum that besides answering the current needs, strengthen its statement as architecture. With the annexation of Bessarabia to the Russian Empire, not only economic, political and cultural changes took place, but also spiritual ones. The strengthening of the role of the Orthodox Church for the idea of the Russian press will take place with the launch by Nicholas I of the well–known triad: “Orthodoxy, autocracy, people” – the three pillars on which Russian statehood will be based. It is interesting that “orthodoxy” in this triad occupies the primordial place and this in a multinational and multi–denominational state, and “autocracy” is on second place giving way to the Church. This position of the Russian Orthodox Church existed before and has been preserved since, with slogans such as “For Faith, the Tsar and Fatherland” or “Russian God, Russian Tsar and Russian People”. Obviously, for this position, the Orthodox Church had to make a significant effort to spread the cult of the tsar, which also refers to Bessarabia as a component part of this colossus. And this is done through all existing measures and possibilities. This also refers to the publicity of books invoking the entire imperial family, to the publication of instructions and special regulations related to the manner and rules of performing divine services in honor of the emperor and the imperial family, as well as various actions aimed at promoting the imperial image.

Первые практические уроки колонизации были получены британскими правителями в ходе создания так называемой «первой империи», при объединении Англии, Ир-ландии, Уэльса и Шотландии. Своеобразие британской имперской идеологии было связано с тру-дами известных деятелей Т. Мора, Ф. Бэкона, Дж. Ди, Р. Хаклейта, которые служили наглядной иллюстраций сложного сочетания гуманистического идеализма эпохи Просвещения и стремления к колониальным захватам и власти. The author examines the formation of the British imperial ideology under the influence of Great Geographical Discoveries, primarily the travels of H. Columbus, A. Vespucci to the New World. Imperial ideas in Britain, as in other European countries, were born under the influence of the heritage of the Roman Empire. The first practical lessons of colonization were learned by the British rulers during the creation of the so-called “first empire”, when England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland were united. The peculiarity of the British imperial ideology was associated with the works of famous figures T. More, F. Bacon, J. Dee, R. Hakluyt, which served as a clear illustration of the complex nature of the merger (convergence) between the humanistic idealism of the Enlightenment and the desire for colonial conquest and power.

The Mount Hare map area extends across the western limb of the Richardson anticlinorium in the southern Richardson Mountains, northern Yukon. It is underlain by four Paleozoic sedimentary successions: middle Cambrian Slats Creek Formation, middle Cambrian to Early Devonian Road River Group, Devonian Canol Formation, and Late Devonian to Carboniferous Imperial and Tuttle formations. The Richardson trough depositional setting of the first three successions is succeeded by a deep-marine, turbiditic Ellesmerian orogenic foredeep setting for the Imperial-Tuttle succession. The carbonate-dominated Road River Group defines a west-dipping homocline which is transected by oblique transverse faults in its upper part. In the overlying Imperial-Tuttle succession, map-scale folds can be defined where shales are interbedded with thick persistent sandstone units. The structural geometry reflects Cretaceous-Cenozoic regional Cordilleran tectonism.

In this paper, a review of the current understanding of Devonian conodont biostratigraphy in the Mackenzie Mountains in the Northwest Territories is presented. The Devonian stratigraphy of the northern and southern Mackenzie Mountains is presented on two chronostratigraphic charts, from the first deposits on top of the sub-Devonian unconformity to the lower part of the Imperial and Fort Simpson formations. Schematic maps give an overview of the regional distribution of the formations in the Mackenzie Mountains. This update revealed that several of the assemblage and formation contacts are younger than presumed in an earlier time-stratigraphic chart; several formations and members are now better constrained in the updated charts. The update also pointed out intervals in the charts for which no data were available and for which more research is needed to constrain formations in the Devonian conodont biozonation.

Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to outline the structure of the main methodological ideas within the frames of interpretive thinking in the essay of the famous Vistnyk’s writer, critic and essayist Yevhen Malaniuk. Considering the purpose and tasks of the studio, an interdisciplinary methodological base, related to the author’s “national approach”, has been worked out. The epistemological potential of national philosophy as a philosophy of national existence, national science as a theory of nation, hermeneutics as a theory and practice of interpretation and post-colonialism as interpretation of cultural phenomena from the standpoint of anti- and post-imperial consciousness are used in the work. The scientific novelty is that on the basis of the previous hermeneutic generalization and definition of national-existential methodology, a propaedeutic outlining of the structure of national-philosophical concepts within the frames of the essayistic interpretation of reality in Ye. Malaniuk is proposed. In the methodological sense, the writer’s essayism is structured by such concepts as nation-centrism, idealism, voluntarism, heroism, and can be considered as one of the variants (close by the experiences of D. Dontsov, Yu. Lypa, M. Mukhyn, etc.) of the Vistnyk’s national-philosophical (national-existential, nationalistic or nation-centric) hermeneutics, that is, the way of understanding, which the author by himself outlined as a “national approach”. The support of Ye. Malaniuk as a culture-philosopher and exegete on the eternal nation-centric values and criteria in his essayistic studies makes his reflections not only historically interesting, but also theoretically productive, classically important for the development of modern Ukrainian hermeneutics and humanities in general.

Der massenhafte Anstieg der individuellen Pkw-Nutzung der zurückliegenden Jahrzehnte wird weitestgehend auf strukturelle Veränderungen zurückgeführt, die sich aus dem Zusammenwirken von technologischer Möglichkeit (hier: der Option „Pkw“) und allgemeinen ökonomischen und sozialen Entwicklungstrends in modernen Industriegesellschaften ergeben (vgl. exemplarisch Kutter 2001; Kutter/Stein 1998). Insbesondere bezogen auf die soziale Akzeptanz von technischen Neuerungen – ökonomisch gesprochen: die Substitutionsbereitschaft zwischen bestehenden und neuen Technologien – muss jedoch die Perspektive des Akteurs und sein individuelles Entscheidungsverhalten stärker in den Blick genommen werden, um die für Verkehr, Umwelt und Raum sich ergebenden Folgen besser abschätzen zu können. Entsprechende Studien, die das individuelle Entscheidungsverhalten im Umgang mit technologischen Neuerungen ins Zentrum der Untersuchung stellen, sind jedoch nach wie vor nur in geringer Zahl vorhanden. So steht beispielsweise außer Frage, dass Neuerungen im Bereich von IuK-Technologien die physische Mobilität nachhaltig beeinträchtigen werden. Gleichwohl sind die vorhandenen theoretischen wie empirischen Befunde der Mobilitätsforschung, wie die Entwicklung von IuK-Technologien die individuelle Mobilitätsnachfrage verändern wird, jedoch unklar oder widersprüchlich. Entsprechend stellt etwa Bamberg (2010) fest: „Die Dynamik dieser Entwicklung ist z.Z. kaum prognostizierbar“. Vor diesem Hintergrund hat unter anderen das Institut für Mobilitätsforschung (ifmo) in Kooperation mit dem Imperial College London jüngst eine Grundlagenstudie gestartet, um den Stand des Wissens zum Einfluss von IuK-Technologien auf das Mobilitätsverhalten aufzuarbeiten. Ein ähnlicher Erkenntnisstand lässt sich für andere verkehrs- und mobilitätsrelevante Technologiebereiche diagnostizieren. Eine der wenigen Ausnahmen hiervon bilden Analysen des Nutzerverhaltens bezogen auf die Akzeptanz neuer Antriebstechnologien im Bereich des motorisierten Individualverkehrs und hier speziell mit Blick auf die Nutzung elektrisch betriebener Fahrzeuge (vgl. stellvertretend Bongard 2014; Fazel 2014; Peters et al. 2013; Haugrund 2013; Pieper et al. 2013; Paternoga et al. 2013; Dudenhöffer et al. 2012; Döring/Aigner 2012; Döring 2012; Ahrend et al. 2011; Peters/Hoffmann 2011; Döring/Aigner 2011). Zu den Elektrofahrzeugen zählen dabeiterminologisch nicht alllein reine batterieelektrisch betriebene Fahrzeuge (BEV), sondern auch solche Elektrofahrzeuge, die entweder über einen Verbrennungsmotor zur Reichweitenverlängerung verfügen (REEV) oder bei denen sowohl ein E-Motor als auch ein Verbrennungsmotor für den Antrieb sorgt, wie dies bei den am Stromnetz aufladbaren Plugin-Hybridfahrzeugen (PHEV) der Fall ist. Schließlich werden zudem Brennstoffzellenfahrzeuge (FCEV), welche die benötigte Energie direkt an Bord des Fahrzeugs erzeugen (z.B. in Form von Wasserstoffbrennstoffzellen), zu den Elektrofahrzeugen gezählt. In Anbetracht dessen sollen nachfolgend exemplarisch die vorhandenen Einsichten zum Nutzerverhalten im Umgang mit der Elektromobilität zusammenfassend dargestellt sowie – wenngleich nur ansatzweise und damit in lediglich rudimentärer Form – einige sich daraus ergebende verkehrs-, umwelt- und raumbezogene Implikationen aufgezeigt werden.
