The concept of lifelong learning and the ways in which this learning takes place are of key importance for both students and professional musicians. Musicians in the 21st century need a broad and rapidly adaptable set of skills with which to build and sustain their careers, as substantial research shows that most musicians work within multiple roles that change according to their personal and professional needs. In order to forge new opportunities, musicians are often required to look beyond their initial training and experience to transition to new instruments and genres. There is limited res

Abstract:
Imposter Syndrome (IS), described by Pauline Clance, is characterized by feelings of unworthiness of success and fear of being exposed as a fraud, despite evidence to the contrary. The study examined the occurrence of IS among medical students, revealing that factors such as critical family dynamics and external pressures contribute to the development of the syndrome, being more common among women. The research suggests that IS can affect the mental health and academic performance of these students, recommending cognitive behavioral therapy as an approach to managing the condition.

Imposter syndrome is a pertinent issue in academia. A recent article from May 2023 titled "The imposter phenomenon and its relationship with self-efficacy, perfectionism and happiness in university students" (Pákozdy et al., 2023) sheds light on this pressing issue. This blog aims to summarise the key findings of the article, discuss its strengths and limitations, evaluate its evidence, and provide a personal perspective on how this evidence can inform practice and future research.
