This study aims at excavating the unsaid in Mohammad Bin Al Qasim Al Abari's analysis of Imru" Al Qais and Tarafa Ibn Al Abd Mualaqas. The study attempts to reevaluate Al Anbari's (1965) misinterpretations resulting from neglecting the context and the motive behind the composition, as well as the failure to appreciate the connotations and sticking only to dentations, which resulted in losing the gist of the texts.

Considerable scholarly attention has been given to Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem, "Locksley Hall," in relation to one of its main sources, the "Mu'allaqa" of Imru' al-Qais, but scarcely any has been paid to the comparative aspects of the two poems. The essay argues that Tennyson's borrowing—importing—of the "Mu'allaqa's" more salient poetics reveals much about "Locksley Hall's " sp

Abstract:
Classical Arab critics held conflicting and blurred views regarding the history of Jahili poetry. They believed that Imru al-Qais was the father of Jahili poetry and the creator of most, if not all, of the Jahili poetic conventions, but at the same time they referred to a host of distinguished poets who either lived before Imru' al-Qais or were his older contemporaries, and whose works embody most of the conventions attributed to Imru' al-Qais. The discrepancy of the classical critics seems to have been overlooked by the scholars of the last two hundred years who, instead of examining the inhe
