This master thesis is made in 2001 at Blekinge Institute of Technology and Symbian, which is a software company in Ronneby, Sweden. The purpose of the thesis is to find a suitable prediction and estimation model for the test effort. To do this, we have studied the State of the Art in cost/effort estimation and fault prediction. The conclusion of this thesis is that it is hard to make a general proposal, which is applicable for all organisations. For Symbian we have proposed a model based on use and test cases to predict the test effort.

Abstract:
This paper highlights research characterizing the distribution and time impacts of spacecraft discrepancies found at the system level of integration and test. Reducing discrepancies will result in cycle time reduction and cost savings, as well as increased product quality and reliability. All of these potential outcomes are indications of successful progress toward becoming a lean organization.<br>Lean Aerospace Initiative

Abstract:
The thermal contact conductance (TCC) between two machined pieces of stainless steel was studied. A guarded hot plate thermal conductivity test fixture was designed and built for the experiment. Factors investigated included the contact pressure, surface roughness, interface material and average test temperature. The contact pressure at the interface ranged from 80 to 800 psi. The mean surface roughness of the opposing surfaces was 2.8 in (.0708 m) parallel to the sanding direction and 1.9 in (.0482 m) perpendicular to the sanding direction. Interface materials included air, indium foi

In order to implement this online-test study, Item Response Theory and Pyramidal Test Theory are employed as basis to help the implementation of this system. Free software Xoops is chosen for the system platform. Its module was modified to have the function of an adaptive test system.
