Cross-border acquisitions (CBA) are a form of foreign direct investments and have been dramatically increasing over the last three decades. India has been one of the top CBA destinations among emerging economies, making it interesting to explore the determinants. Even though the CBA research is voluminous, the role of economic freedom is understudied. In this background, by extending the knowledge of distance measures impacting cross-border acquisition (CBA) activities, we examine the impact of economic freedom distance on India’s inbound CBA volume and the moderating role of economic distance

AGAT deficiency is a rare and treatable autosomal recessive disorder. The symptoms are early-onset developmental mild to moderate intellectual disability, delayed speech acquisition, behavioral problems or proximal muscle weakness. Biochemical screening for creatine, creatinine and urinary guanidinoacetate and genetic tests are used for diagnosis. Electromyography may be normal or may have a myopathic pattern with low amplitude polyphasic waves. Muscle biopsy may show abnormalities including small myocytes. Creatine supplementation can fully prevent the neurological disability, if the treatmen

The language is a creature which is constantly evolving – just like a child as a result of the gained language experience developes its knowledge and perception of reality. Hence there is a need to look at the acquisition of language in the category of colloquialism. A philosophical reflection on conceptual analysis says that ‘all cultures have as one of their most powerful constitutive instruments a folk psychology, which we learn early’ (Bruner 1990: 35). Bruner’s thesis accurately shows the communicational status of the names of feelings and emotions that are expressed in language. J. Brune

Key business indicators show an upward trend in exploration activity in Australia during 2006. The year was marked by fluctuating high oil prices, a strong uptake of acreage in most basins, and increased levels of drilling activity and seismic acquisition. Market demand for product, production infrastructure and the fruition of several development projects have pushed the level of exploration activity in both offshore and onshore basins. Despite this trend and the spread of tenements, almost all petroleum discoveries made during 2006 were located within 15 km of existing (but often undeveloped

In contemporary sociological studies, Wittgenstein, in his Philosophical Investigations, contends that the concept of a private language is unattainable due to the inherent necessity of shared meanings and societal conventions within language. Wittgenstein posits that language is intrinsically tied to social norms and communal practices, asserting that the acquisition of language is inseparable from cultural immersion and participation in shared activities – what he terms “playing the game” of language. In contrast, Noam Chomsky challenges this perspective by proposing the existence of a unive

Outboard, under deep-water areas, potential hydrocarbon resources in thick late Cretaceous depocentres remain significantly under-explored, with limited sparse legacy 2D seismic lines and no wells drilled to date. The GASH/Sal (Genetic Audiogenic Seizure Hamster, Salamanca) is a model of audiogenic seizures with the epileptogenic focus localized in the inferior colliculus (IC). The sound-induced seizures exhibit a short latency (7–9 s), which implies innate protein disturbances in the IC as a basis for seizure susceptibility and generation. Here, we aim to study the protein profile in the GASH/Sal IC in comparison to controls. Protein samples from the IC were processed for enzymatic digestion and then analyzed by mass spectrometry in Data-Independent Acquisition mode. After identifying the proteins usin

Abstract The controlled development of cellular intestinal immunity in the face of dynamic microbiota emergence constitutes a major challenge in very early life and is a bottleneck for sustained growth and well-being. Early-onset inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) represents an extreme disturbance of intestinal immunity. It is a hallmark and often the first manifestation of chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), caused by inborn defects in the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase 2 (NOX2) in phagocytes and thus the failure to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS).
