Abstract:
With the four poems discussed in this essay, Rowan Williams brings us deep into a land of both likeness and unlikeness. These thoroughly incarnational poems are not besotted with the baby Jesus, but rather turn our attention to ourselves as incarnated beings, as incarnations of the incarnation. What trepidations does the incarnation bring with it? What responsibilities does it ask of us, require of us? With beauty of language and intrepidness of speech, Williams has put into verse profound theological, soteriological, and anthropological considerations. By doing so, he considerably widens our

In a series of papers, Thomas P. Flint has posited that God the Son could become incarnate in any human person as long as certain conditions are met (Flint 2001a, 2001b). In a recent paper, he has argued that all saved human persons will one day become incarnated by the Son (Flint 2011). Flint claims that this is motivated by a combination of Molinism and orthodox Christology. I shall argue that this is unmotivated because it is condemned by orthodox Christology. Flint has unknowingly articulated a version of the heresy called Origenism that is condemned by the Fifth Ecumenical Council. After

This article analyses the essence and roles of silence in the œuvres of Mallarmé and Valéry. The Mallarmé’s musicality gradually gives way to the silent music of words; poetry is becoming spatial and takes the form of the music score. In the poem Coup de dés it gets up to the incarnation of silence which shows the ideal of the Mallarmé’s musicality; the ideal in which an eye serves to listen. The theme of music and silence reappears in the Valery’s œuvre. Consequently, it seems right to reassess how we think about liturgy by, with, and among Latinos. In this article, the author proposes that liturgy entails, above all, signifying actions involving the whole congregation. Latinos are the people to whom these actions must signify, and worship must be incarnated or inculturated in Latino cultures in imitation of the incarnation, a theological foundation of liturgical theology and practice. The article is devoted to the Erasmus’ Christology, depicted in two of his works: Disputatiuncula de taedio, pavore, tristicia Iesu (1499) and Apologia ad Iacobum Fabrum Stapulensem (1517). Erasmus in his vision of Christ as an incarnated God, puts special emphasis on his humanity that made him an adequate exemplar for man to imitation. Barth’s rejection of natural theology gives the impression that his theology holds only negative views of anthropology. A description of the office of the priesthood of Christ offers insight into how humanity matters in the theology of Karl Barth. The article argues that Christ, the priest, actualised and effectuated the strange priestly yes of God to humanity. The strange priestly yes of God to humanity can be understood, as grounded upon the radical yes of God to humanity, revealed and actualised in the incarnated person and redemptive history of Jesus Christ as the one who is the Son of God

Abstract Geoffrey Hill’s poems are saturated with the cluttered bleakness of the nihilistic view of the natural world, but in Hill’s own Christian incarnational theology it is precisely this filthy world into which Christ was incarnated in order to redeem humans from Original Sin. Fortified with but also rattled by the Incarnation and the doctrine of Original Sin, in his poems Hill is faced with the profound, agonizing existential choice to embrace Christ or reject Christianity as a farce, and it is this perilous pose that serves as the theological grounding of the oeuvre the man who now, sadl

Abstract The nuclear regions of the galaxies are fascinating. It contains a vital clue about galaxy formation and evolution. This letter presents a detailed photometric study of the galaxy NGC 5689. The Hubble space telescope WFC2 PC and 3.6 micron Spitzer image are adopted for the analysis. A one-dimensional photometric study is used to analyze the nuclear galaxy profile. The two-dimensional analysis(GALFIT) is performed to study bulge and disc counterparts. Our study shows that the nuclear region of the NGC 5689 is incarnated with a colossal nuclear dust lane, which causes drastic changes in

In the general context of literary criticism, the literary work of art has been multi-dimensionally approached through the different and sometimes opposed orientations advanced by literary critics. The multiplicity of these approaches is usually concretized through two main and differently oriented approaches incarnated in the objectivistic poetics of formalist critics and the reactionary approaches that emphasize relatively a non-word constructionist treatment of the literary work. In this respect, the focus of this paper is to highlight the main differences between the two approaches to the

The object of this research is the semantic structure of a literary work. The subject of this research is the nature of interrelation between visual and semantic aspects of the work. The “visual” implies not a characteristic of the text of the novella, but rather one of the “properties of artistic imagery” (S. P. Lavlinsky, N. M. Gurovich). On the one hand, the article interprets the semantics of visual images in A. S. Abstract:
Blake Hereth has recently argued for zootheism, the view that God has incarnated as a non-human animal. I argue that zootheism is compatible with orthodox Christianity, and that at least one argument for it has some force. But I also argue that Hereth’s version of zootheism conflicts with orthodox Christianity, as do some of the arguments Hereth uses to motivate it. And then I argue that the elements of Hereth’s view which conflict with orthodox Christianity are independently implausible anyway: the conflicting details are better filled in in other ways, and the conflicting arguments fail.
