The subspecies of the biological species concept with incomplete reproductive isolation versus the incipient sibling species of the phylogenetic species concept with permeable reproductive barrier are still applied side by side in the everyday practice of taxonomy. Both terms refer to the same organisms diverged mostly in allopatry with various stages of repro-ductive isolation. Question remained: how human ranks these entities organised by nature? The reliable ranking of living hierarchies is retarded and even obscured by the suppressed state of taxonomy. Disappointing scenario: the science o

In the present paper on the Western European Trichoptera we revise or overview the Platyphylax and Simaphylax limnephiline genera, as well as establish and/or overview the Drusus chapmani, Chaetopteryx gessneri and C. gonospina species complexes based on the principles and procedures of our fine phenomics. Having collected a new Drusus chrysotus (Rambur, 1842) specimen we have reconfirmed its delineation from its eastern sibling species Drusus lapos Oláh, 2017. Abstract Treosulfan (TREO), a water-soluble bifunctional alkylating agent, has demonstrated strong immunosuppressive and antileukemic activity as well as profound stem cell toxicity in animal studies. Due to the advantageous clinical toxicity profile lacking significant non-hematologic organ toxicities, high-dose TREO in combination with cyclophosphamide (CY) has recently been evaluated in patients (pts) with an increased risk for organ toxicities precluding standard myeloablative conditioning regimens before allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT). Abstract The present deprived state of taxonomy gives no appropriate resources for taxonomists to apply more sophisticated phenomic tools and to carry out more appropriate population sampling. Without fine structure analysis of large population samples there is no hope to discover speciation traits and there is no chance to delineate young incipient sibling species with subtle but stable shape divergences. Phylogenetic species complexes of these incipient species are frequently mistaken with species polymorphism. However, historical polymorphism is a sympatric phenomenon based on discontinuous

There are several barriers to preclude the gene flow between diverging populations. On the basis of their temporal nature, these can be broadly categorized into two forms: pre- and post-zygotic. Post-zygotic reproductive isolation can manifest in the form of reductions in hybrid fertility. Keeping this fact in view, in the present study, we studied sterility in hybrids of D. ananassae and D. pallidosa. Surprisingly a distinguishable pattern of infertility was found in the hybrids. This pattern, referred to as Haldane’s rule, is often observed in hybrids of recently diverged populatio

Heterochromatin is identified as a potential factor driving diversification of species. To understand the magnitude of heterochromatin variation within the Anopheles gambiae complex of malaria mosquitoes, we analyzed metaphase chromosomes in An. arabiensis, An. coluzzii, An. gambiae, An. merus, and An. quadriannulatus. Using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) with ribosomal DNA (rDNA), a highly repetitive fraction of DNA, and heterochromatic Bacterial Artificial Chromosome (BAC) clones, we established the correspondence of pericentric heterochromatin between the metaphase and polytene X

AbstractThe species previously recognized as Euxoa ridingsiana (Grt.) is shown to be composed of a sympatric pair of sibling species, Euxoa ridingsiana (Grt.) and Euxoa maimes (Sm.), which in the laboratory will produce viable F1 hybrids but no F2. Results of F1 sib and backcrosses show that the F1 males are fertile and the F1 females are infertile. In mating-bias tests conducted in laboratory cages, 74% of matings were conspecific and 26% interspecific. Differences in the diel periodicities of mating, which are about 2 h out of phase, may account for the mating bias. The duration of developme
