Financial implications of developing a hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) center have not been considered. We undertook this study to determine hospital income associated with a new HPB center and to gauge the opportunity cost associated with such a center. Operations included were based on the HPB fellowship curriculum and the six most commonly undertaken general surgery operations. The income with “core” HPB operations (n = 93) and the six most frequently undertaken general surgery operations (n = 583) at one hospital from June 2012 to June 2013 were determined. Abstract Normal operations of cathodic protection systems caused hydrogen embrittlement failures of subsea bolts of Monel® K-500 on offshore platforms. Subsequent testing showed that the embrittlement could be predicted from cathodically protected slow strain rate tensile tests. Additional slow strain rate tests have shown that cathodic protection caused embrittlement of Ferralium® 255, Inconel® X-750, Inconel® 718, high strength steel, and 13 percent Chromium alloys but not of beryllium copper, A-286, Beta-C® titanium, and steel at a yield strength of 115 ksi.

Abstract The incore instrumentation system of a pressurized water reactor (PWR) facilitates neutron flux mapping and temperature measurements at specific core locations. A guide conduit, extending from the seal table to the lower reactor pressure vessel head, guides and protects each incore guide thimble between the table and the lower reactor vessel head. Each flux thimble houses a detector and drive cable. Once filled with reactor coolant, the conduit becomes an extension of the reactor coolant pressure boundary. Abstract Inconel alloy 740, a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium-cobalt alloy with niobium addition, has emerged as a leading candidate material for ultra-supercritical (USC) boilers due to its superior stress rupture strength and corrosion resistance at operating temperatures near 760°C. While derived from Nimonic alloy 263, alloy 740's unique chemistry necessitates comprehensive weldability studies to address potential challenges including heat-affected zone liquation cracking, ductility-dip cracking, and post-weld heat treatment cracking. Most CHP plants have shifted from base load operation to flexible operation on the power market to cope with these challenges. The reason is that only formal sector workers are eligible for this benefit while many low-income individuals work in the informal sector in Brazil. In addition, since this subsidy i

The history of the OPSF presents important lessons for policymakers. Petroleum price setting by fiat and using a price stabilization fund to smooth the price resulted in mismatches between payments to the fund and claims against it.
