Abstract:
This article addresses some apparent problems in the practical application of factorial models of return on equity. Our investigations demonstrate that the main problem lies in the interpretation of the influence of financial leverage (degreel of indebtedness). From the application of factorial models it follows that the higher the financial lever, the higher the return on equity. But in economic practice, increasing the degree of indebtedness cannot permanently contribute to increasing the profitability of equity because the permissible limit of the indebtedness degree may constitute no more

Allocating labels to an object, either physical or abstract, contributes to expanding or consolidating the meaning of that particular object, hence, the name ,,metadata" used in informatics. The structure of learning materials usually attempts to simply the categorization of their contents by creating a hierarchical structure that is reflected in chapters and sections. However, this categorization approach is both subject to the author's perspective and limited in terms of reflecting the relations between the concepts included in the learning contents. The Web 2.0 era brought the advent of a n

Full text
Abstract:
To assess climate change effects on crop yields, remote sensing-derived yield and agrometeorological reanalysis data are used to construct a panel at 0.1-degree resolution for 2003–2015. Regressions controlling for grid cell-specific intercepts and time trends, temperature, rainfall, and cloudiness estimate the subregional relationships between yields and precipitation-evapotranspiration extremes for rice, wheat, and maize. Results imply that climate change will cause global yield reductions for all crops, with losses highest for wheat and maize, especially in South Asia and Southern Africa.

Abstract:
This article investigates labour market segmentation of EU-13 workers in Sweden. Labour market segmentation is a driver of income differences between natives, EU-15 migrants and EU-13 migrants in many EU member states. There are, however, indications that labour market inequalities as a result of segmentation among EU-13 migrants is less pronounced in Sweden. Previous research, both quantitative and qualitative, has shown surprisingly low levels of labour market segmentation among the employed. The structural differences on the labour market has, instead, been between the employed and unemploy

Objectives To determine endocrine factors that regulate the partitioning of amino acids by the mammary gland. To evaluate dietary flow and supply of energy and amino acids and their effects on milk protein synthesis and endocrine status. To use primary cultures of cow mammary epithelial cells to examine the role of specific factors on the rates and pattern of milk protein synthesis. Milk protein is an increasingly valuable component of milk but little is known regarding the specific hormonal and nutritional factors controlling milk protein synthesis. The research conducted for this project has

Abstract:
This report contains descriptions of 13 family planning (FP) projects recently implemented in Bangladesh. The results in terms of the contraceptive prevalence rate (CPR) are analyzed to investigate the degree to which improved FP service delivery in Bangladesh can increase contraceptive use in the present status of demand, investigate the programmatic factors most associated with increased prevalence, and make these projects more widely known. Criteria for inclusion included coverage of a geographic area where household distribution of contraceptive supplies was available, and where at least o

Abstract:
Singapore's unique monetary policy consists of a managed exchange rate framework that can be characterized as a Taylor-like reaction function with the nominal devaluation rate instead of the nominal interest rate as the main policy instrument. We build a small open economy New Keynesian model to estimate and characterize such a monetary rule from a welfare perspective. Welfare gains under an exchange rate rule (ERR) relative to the more standard interest rate-based Taylor rule (IRR) are unambiguously increasing in the degree of trade openness (defined as exports plus imports as a share of GDP)

Abstract:
The EU Single Farm Payment (SFP) is currently distributed in proportion to primary factor shares in version 8 of the GTAP database. In this paper, we investigate whether this way of modeling the EU SFP makes a difference in analyzing agricultural policy reforms. To do so, we create alternative versions of the GTAP database to compare the effects with the default setting in GTAP. Employing OECD data, along with the GTAP framework, we vary the assumptions about the allocation of the SFP. In the process, we demonstrate how to alter and update the GTAP database to implement domestic support of OEC
