Abstract:
Given a graph G, let Q(G) denote the collection of all independent (edge-free) sets of vertices in G. We consider the problem of determining the size of a largest antichain in Q(G). When G is the edgeless graph, this problem is resolved by Sperner's theorem. In this paper, we focus on the case where G is the path of length n − 1, proving that the size of a maximal antichain is of the same order as the size of a largest layer of Q(G).

To identify potential determinants of emotion socialization (ES) in the socio-cultural context, the current study examined a moderated mediation model whereby parents’ independent and interdependent self-construals were proposed to moderate associations of parents’ beliefs about children’s emotions with parents’ ES, which in turn relate to children’s social competence. Seventy-five Chinese parents (65 mothers, 10 fathers) with children in middle childhood (43 girls, 32 boys; Mage=9.18, SD=1.26) completed translated Chinese versions of the Parents’ Beliefs about Children’s Emotions Questionnai

Abstract:
This chapter examines how smartphones may function as a relevant digital tool for maintaining both family and romantic relationships. Using data from a quantitative diary study and follow-up qualitative interviews with twenty-four smartphone users aged 20–30 years as a part of a research teaching course at a German university in June 2015, the chapter considers the different reasons for using text messages. It first provides an overview of relationship maintenance in the age of mobile communication before discussing the research methodology and the findings. The results show that smartphones are used as everyday companions by the majority of respondents and allow perpetual contact with loved ones, independent of time or space. The study also revealed the content of the text messages and the perception that smartphones and texting pose a threat to relationships. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the limitations of the study.

Recognizing graphs with high level of symmetries is hard in general, and usually requires additional structural understanding. In this paper we study a particular graph parameter and motivate its usage by devising eÿcient recognition algorithm for the family of I-graphs. For integers m a simple graph is cycle regular if every path of length ` belongs to exactly cycles of length m. We identify all cycle regular I-graphs and, as a conse-quence, describe linear recognition algorithm for the observed family. Product families, reconfigurable assembly systems and concurrent engineering are frequently used to achieve this desired cost effective and rapid supply of product variety. This paper presents a systematic methodology to optimize the module instance configuration of an evolving product family (PF). The proposed methodology seeks to maximize the total profit of a PF for a given planning horizon by taking into account the interdependencies of modules at both the product level and the PF level. The module configuration optimization problem can be viewed as a stage-wise sequential decision process. Dynamic programming (DP) is suitable for modeling such problems. Motivated by the fact that the topological structure and the number of DOFs of a GKC can be changed by engaging clutches or brakes to connect two or more coaxial links, this work is aimed to reveal how non-fractionated GKCs of higher-DOF are relate

Parametric modeling has become a widely accepted mechanism for generating data set variants for product families. These data sets that include geometric models and feature-based process plans are created by specifying values for parameters within feasible ranges specified as constraints in the definition. The ranges denote the extent or envelope of the product family. Increasingly, with globalization the inverse problem is becoming important. This takes independently generated product data sets that on observation belong to the same product family and creates a parametric model for that family

Answering ontology mediated queries (OMQs) has received much attention in the last decade, but the big gap between practicable algorithms for lightweight ontologies, that are supported by implemented reasoners, and purely theoretical algorithms for expressive ontologies that are not amenable to implementation, has only increased. We consider mechanisms that elicit alternatives by randomly sampling voters for their favorite alternative.
