Knowledge of the direction of causality between electricity consumption and economic growth is of primary importance if appropriate energy policies and energy conservation measures are to be devised. This study estimates the causality relationship between electricity consumption and economic growth in per capita and aggregate levels. The study uses the price and income elasticities of total electricity demand and industrial demand by using the auto regressive distributed lag (ARDL) method for some developed and developing countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Japan, China, India, Brazil, It

We use both the realized volatility and the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity models to measure the volatility in the world energy price. Empirical findings from dynamic panel data estimations show that the volatility in world energy price is negatively associated with the aggregate economic a

Some developing universities in Turkey may have some senior faculty members who are distinguished by their scientific and academic qualifications. However, there is an ongoing debate over the sufficiency of the level of the graduate studies in Turkey due to the low number and ratio of such distinguished faculty. As such, making an effective use of the potential of international-level qualified faculty members in Turkish universities, especially those in the developing universities, is essential since the potential of faculty with international-level qualifications in Turkey is already insuffic

Through a comparative discussion of public rituals of national commemoration in India and Turkey, this essay examines the relationship between the formation of the public sphere, the production of national identity, and the establishment of state sovereignty. The central organizing principle is the notion of the “creation of the public” as a historically specific political and cultural project. This departs from the evolutionary understanding of the public sphere as a derivative byproduct or “unintended, rolling effect”1 of social, economic, and political “structural transformations” that took

The present study confirms the presence of a Sacoglossan (Mollusca) species, Lobiger serradifalci (Calcara, 1840), from India. The distribution of this species has not yet been documented in India. It has been reported from Turkey, Italy, France, Greece, Israel, and now, for the first time, from the western coast of India. L. serradifalci was discovered under green seaweeds in the lower intertidal zone. The species was found to remain hidden within various types of green seaweeds in the region.
