Abstract:
Between 1943 and 1945, 1,500 Indian women in Burma, Malaya and Singapore exchanged their colorful saris for the khakis, breeches, half caps and boots of the Rani of Jhansi Regiment, the all-female brigade of the Indian National Army (INA). Under the leadership of Subhas Chandra Bose, Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs, members of the moneyed elite and the daughters of rubber plantation laborers shared the same food and fate to fight a jungle war for India's freedom.

Abstract:
Electronic hovercraft is a device which can easily move on sand, water, hill areas and also muddy places. The main reason behind this project is to rescue the people in the flooded region. Our Indian army forces like Indian army, Indian navy will have greater use of this project. For example coming to our local areas just recently happened these situation is in Hyderabad we got floods so many people lose their houses, property.so many people were injuired. There is no such reliable system to rescue there. In that one senior citizen was died due to the helpless situation these type of situation makes so hurting to us. In that cases these type of devices may save their lives. In this system we have Bluetooth, Arduino UNO, propellers, two navigation motors which can give right and forward moving directions. Considering the price, simple implementations this project proses a less cost compare to fire brigade. With the help of Bluetooth in distance we can operate the system. With driving manually we can operate. Due to this one person can be saved. Instead of a driver one extra person can save. By using Bluetooth Arduino control app we can send command to the Arduino. When we give command we can operate, navigate the device with the help of down propeller air fills in cushion with the help of back propeller it will move towards forward direction with this we can control the device navigation for this we have 12volt 3.5Amps Battery power supply. Amplified current version battery to drive the motors.

Abstract:
Bardia has a natural deep-water harbour confined by cliffs, making it an ideal submarine haven. It held a strategic position in the last war in connection with the capture of Tobruk, and was used by both the Germans and British as a supply base (Fig. 1). Set back from the shoreline were numerous single-storey, flat-roofed buildings overlooking the harbour, one of which was a lookout post where the mural under discussion survives. On 30th December 1941 the Allies launched a decisive attack on Bardia (Liddell Hart 1953, 177–178), which surrendered on 2nd January 1942 (Murphy 1961, 511–512). On 27 th January Rommel had struck again at Benghazi; General Auchinleck gave orders to withdraw, and formed a front line near Gazala in early February.According to its contemporary War Diary, the 5th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment arrived in the Western Desert from Palestine and Syria on 20th February, and two days later took over from the 11th Indian Brigade approximately 20 miles south of Gazala (W.O.169/5076). One of the soldiers in this batallion was Private John Frederick Brill 4617871 of the Royal Army Service Corps, the artist of the mural in the Painted Room at Bardia.

Abstract:
India’s opposition to humanitarian intervention has been influenced by its colonial experience and its predisposition towards the principles of sovereignty and non-intervention. However, India did not adopt a strident opposition in the post-Cold War due to the changed power configuration. The article discusses how India adopted a cautious approach and yet used every opportunity to remind the international community the baleful effect of intervention in the internal affairs. After securing concession to a considerable extent on the ambitious Responsibility to Protect (R2P) and when most of the countries showed an inclination to accept humanitarian intervention in the form of ‘R2P’ at the UN summit in 2005, India grudgingly went along accepting it. India participated in the deliberation on the implementation of R2P and took its stand on various crises in which R2P was evoked. The experience of NATO’s Libya operation under R2P was regarded as substantiation of India’s apprehension of the misuse of the concept, and India reverted its position to the sceptical view of humanitarian intervention/R2P. By mere complaining about the mixing of peace enforcement with peacekeeping, when the United Nations deployed ‘intervention brigade’ for the protection of civilians, India lost the opportunity to take the initiative to propose a new mechanism to deal with the humanitarian crisis in atrocious internal conflicts.

Abstract:
In India, the urban local bodies do not have decentralization in various functions. Therefore, municipal corporations find various issues in functioning and revenue generation. It has resulted into either shortfall or low quality infrastructure services to people. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is developed as modern municipal corporation. Municipal corporation invested financial resources in development for civic infrastructure. Therefore, population, industries, educational institutions, markets, transport and other facilities are expanding very fast. The ordinary least square regression results shows that the municipal corporation has positive co-relation with revenue receipts from LBT, property tax and town planning. The revenue expenditure is positively co-related with municipal estate, public health and hospitals, primary and secondary education. The engineering work for poor is negatively correlated with revenue expenditure. The capital receipts are positively co-related with fire brigade, auditorium, sports and cultural programs and security deposits and water supply. The capital expenditure is positively co-related to women and child welfare schemes, primary education, environment monitoring. It is negatively co-related with dumping grounds. The municipal corporation must raise funds from capital market through municipal bonds. More investment must be made in civic infrastructure. Similarly, corporation must spend more funds on poor, welfare of women and children. Municipal corporation must monitor and protect environment. It must give more priorities for processing of solid and e-waste, protect local culture, primary and secondary education, health care for all and technology in provision of civic services. It must develop human resource and create best place to live in metropolitan region.

Abstract:
“Nostalgia,” writes Svetlana Boym, often emerges in times of “historical upheavals” or when the “rhythms of life” are suddenly “accelerated.” One can well understand that such nostalgic outbreaks are the results of the experience change. One such moment was that of the Partition of India in 1947. This paper focuses on this moment as it is depicted in Qurratulain Hyder’s novel, My Temples, Too. Hyder’s novel, that centers around the experience of Partition, is haunted by a palpable sense of loss, of rupture, and an acute longing for the places and spaces of the past that its characters witness as eroding. Following scholars like Boym, Linda Hutcheon, De Brigard, Gaston Bachelard, Edward Casey, and others, this paper first prepare the ground of its argument by showing how memory and nostalgia are often deeply rooted in everyday things, objects, and places of habitation, investing them with a sense of belonging. Thereafter, it situates Hyder’s novel in its immediate context and explores its poetics of loss, longing, and nostalgia.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
Light brown, raised lesions were observed on the leaves of bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) plants throughout a commercial field in northwest Ohio in 1999. Bacterial streaming from the lesions was observed microscopically. Five representative, pale yellow colonies isolated on yeast dextrose carbonate medium were selected and purified. All isolates induced a hypersensitive response in Mirabilis jalapa L. plants 24 h after inoculation with a 1 × 108 CFU/ml bacterial suspension. All five were identified as Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis by fatty acid methyl ester analysis (mean similarity index [S.I.] = 0.76; MIDI, Newark, DE). Identity was confirmed at the University of Hawaii (W. Kaneshiro and A. Alvarez) by carbon substrate utilization pattern (mean S.I. = 0.75; Biolog, Hayward, CA) and positive reactions with C. michiganensis subsp. michiganensis-specific monoclonal antibodies (clones 103-142-1-1 and 103-148-2-1) in ELISA. DNA extracted from lesions and pure cultures was used as template in a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay with primers specific for C. michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (CMM-5 and CMM-6) (1). DNA from a known strain of C. michiganensis subsp. michiganensis served as a positive control, while water and DNA from healthy tomato plants were used as negative controls. A 0.6-kb PCR product was amplified from lesions, pure cultures of all five strains, and positive control DNA, but not from the negative controls. Pathogenicity tests were performed twice on 5- to 6-week-old bell pepper (cvs. Collossal, Lafayette, King Arthur, Brigadier, and Commandant) and tomato (cv. Peto 696) plants. Pepper plants were inoculated with each strain by clipping the lowest petioles with scissors that had been dipped into a bacterial suspension (1 × 108 CFU/ml) or by spray inoculation (approximately 5 ml/plant). Tomato plants were inoculated by clipping. Both inoculation methods included a water control. All five strains caused water-soaked lesions on leaves of all pepper varieties within 7 days after spray inoculation. Pepper plants inoculated by clipping did not develop symptoms. DNA extracts from lesions of challenged pepper plants were positive in PCR. All inoculated tomato seedlings exhibited wilting, streaks, and cankers in the stems and necrosis of leaf margins within 15 days after inoculation. None of the control plants developed symptoms. All five strains were re-isolated from inoculated tomato and pepper plants. The original pepper strains and the strains re-isolated from tomatoes were compared using rep-PCR with ERIC primers (4). DNA fingerprints of the re-isolated strains were identical to those of the original strains and were characteristic of C. michiganensis subsp. michiganensis type C. Bacterial canker is a common disease of tomatoes worldwide and has occurred in Ohio for at least 70 years. However, this is the first report of C. michiganensis subsp. michiganensis infecting peppers in Ohio. While the pathogen does not appear to cause systemic disease in peppers, it may serve as a source of inoculum for tomatoes, which are highly susceptible to the disease and often produced in the same greenhouse as peppers or planted in adjacent fields. Bacterial canker has been reported previously from commercial pepper fields in California (2) and Indiana (3). References: (1) J. Dreier et al. Phytopathology 85:462, 1995. (2) M. Lai. Plant Dis. Abstract:
John Randal Baker , who was born at Woodbridge in Suffolk on 23 October 1900, was well provided with genes and memes by both his parents and, as this account of his life unfolds, it will become clear that his interests and the qualities of his character were closely akin to those that had appeared in earlier generations of his family. John was the youngest of the five children, three girls and two boys, of Rear Admiral Julian Alleyne Baker, R. N., and of his wife Geraldine Eugénie, née Alison. On his mother’s side, his grandfather was General Sir Archibald Alison, G. C. B., who served in the Crimea, the Indian Mutiny and was second-in-command of the Ashanti expedition in West Africa in 1873. In 1882 it was his leadership of the Highland Brigade at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir that ended in the victory which proved to be the turning point of the Egyptian Campaign of that year. The General was a direct descendant of the Alisons whose family, together with that of the Gregorys, was discussed in Gabon’s Hereditary genius (1869) as an example of genius inherited over five generations.

A central communication channel was identified as a “must” area for improvement. Aided by Wipro Consulting Services, active and passive measures were adopted to make the internal communication vibrant, which would, it was envisioned, change organizational culture and bring about attitudinal change. However, the review after 18 months pointed towards gaps in the existing model. Should BEL continue with the existing strategies or amend? Abstract:
Surface water represents one of the most utilized sources for water distribution systems globally, despite the fact that rapid urbanization and industrialization has reduced its cleanliness. As a result, the end-user's health is seriously impacted by the dirty water. Nevertheless, it is clear that many developing nations, including India, pay little regard to or care about this crucial issue. The Vidhyadhari River has become a receiver of high organic and bacteriological load of entire Kolkata City through Basanti canal. As a result, the purpose of this investigation is to evaluate how rapid urbanization and industrialization has changed the water quality of Vidhyadhari River using Canadian Water Quality Index (WQI). We have used seasonal water quality data collected at two monitoring stations (Haroa bridge and Malancha) from 2011 to 2020 to study the water quality of Vidhyadhari River. Results of the study indicated that the annual WQI value of Haroa brigde ranged between 21.62 (very bad) and 62.89 (medium) with an average of 27.29 (bad), whereas annual WQI value of Malancha station ranged between 15.44 (very bad) and 43.09 (bad) with an average of 18.77 (very bad). In comparison to downward location, the water quality of Vidhyadhari River was somehow good at upstream i.e., Haroa brigde. According to WQI, the water quality of Vidhyadhari River fall into bad to very bad category, which indicated deterioration of river water quality. Factor analysis revealed that both stations are predominated by hardness cluster (hardness, calcium, magnesium and chloride) followed by cluster of total dissolved solids (TDS), sulphate and ammonia. Sewer, excessive human activity, industrial discharges, poor sanitation, and urban runoff outflow can be extrapolated as the main causes for the deterioration of Vidhyadhari River water quality. This study emphasized the significance of implementing measurement actions, introduction of watershed characteristics and implications for developing water management strategies.

Abstract:
Fire brigade officers, health care personnel, police are often delayed due to traffic congestion, across major cities in India. Considering the predicament, Artificial Intelligence has the potential to enable us to solve such problems by adopting a number of unique perspectives and approaches, especially in this domain. The solution developed by us enables an emergency vehicle driver to select the route to reach the destination as quickly as possible. As cameras are deployed at most of the traffic signals today, especially in cities where traffic congestion is a major pain point, Video Analytics can be used for calculating vehicle count, which will be streamed and updated continually. We create effective algorithms to alter the time of the traffic signals based on this real-time vehicle count, the distance of the vehicle from the signal, the bearing angle made by the vehicle with the signal and also by making sure that the traffic congestion doesn’t increase exponentially and multiple emergency vehicles do not put the system in a deadlock. The loss of life due to accidents and the delay in getting the required treatment must be avoided. The designed system will automatically control traffic light intervals based on vehicle density. This solution will allow an emergency vehicle to reach its destination during emergencies, plying on the best possible route, in the most decongested traffic conditions, which will be facilitated by specifically developed algorithms. To save human life from accidents and unnecessary delays due to traffic congestion, is the main aim of our system.

Abstract:
Cookfights in the northern coast of Paraíba: performances in a sport interethnic AbstractThis is an ethnography about cockfights held in the northern coast of Paraiba, Brazil - region characterized by interethnic contact between Potiguara indigenous and non-indigenous population. These cockfights occur inside and outside the indigenous area, which makes this research an anthropological exercise understanding of an extreme situation, which involves hiding and ethnic border. How then configures the interaction between Indians and non-Indians in a male ritual event, illegal, marked by symbolic confrontation and has non-human animals as central characters? To answer this question, I take the approach of "anthropology of performance" as epistemic and methodological filter and analyze cockfights in order to understand and describe what routines, sets, characters and conflicts are involved in this practice. Considering that the native people perceive the cockfight as a sport in which the cock is an athlete and the humans are its coaches, support this trinomial (sport, athlete and coach) to interpret this activity. Keywords: Human and non-human animals. Masculinity. Contact interethnic. Sport. Anthropology of performance.
