Abstract:
The paper highlights the results of an empirical study of sources of obtaining information about books and the role of mass media in the promotion of reading among Kremenchuk student youth. The methodological basis of the study was the social and communication paradigm. A set of research methods was used to achieve the goal: theoretical to determine the state of development of the problem, the definition of conceptual apparatus; empirical (survey) to identify the role of media in reading promotion. The survey was conducted in the framework of the project "Book in virtual space". As a result of empirical research, the hypothesis that mass media plays an important role in the popularization of reading, particularly among student youth was confirmed. The study showed that the main media kinds, from which young people receive information about books, are online media and websites of publishing and book-selling organizations. The indirect ways of book promoting are considered by students to be a priority over direct advertising and promotion of books. The mass media is the main source of information about books; this determines the importance of expanding the communication channels of libraries with the audience, first of all, by accessing the virtual space. The generalized analysis of respondents' comments and wishes testifies to students' understanding of the role of reading in human development and the need for its promotion.

Abstract:
Objectives – The main objectives of this study were the following:

 1) To determine the existence of a formal promotion or marketing strategic plan for e-books in academic libraries.
 2) To identify the marketing and promotion tools being used for e-book marketing.
 3) To understand the role of faculty in promoting e-books.
 4) To explore the issues and challenges that the libraries are facing in promoting e-books.
 5) To investigate the future plans for the promotion of e-books.

Design – Qualitative study involving individual interviews followed by thematic analysis.

Setting – The research setting was seven academic libraries with various sizes of e-book collections (~9,000 to ~500,000) and ranging from research leading to teaching focused universities.

Subjects – The interviews were conducted with 25 academic librarians, including 19 subject librarians, 4 e-resources librarians, 1 collection development manager, and 1 acquisition and metadata officer.

Methods – Using a multiple case approach, the researchers interviewed 25 librarians from 7 academic libraries. The interviews were digitally recorded. The interview transcripts were coded and analyzed using thematic analysis. The researchers recorded information about the type and size of the university, number of e-books, and the role of interviewees, and then conducted a semi-structured interview. The following questions were asked:

 1) “Do you have a promotion/marketing strategy for e-books (or e-resources)? If not, is there a need for one?
 2) What are the marketing and promotion tools you use for e-books?
 3) What are the issues and challenges in promoting e-books?” (p. 629)

Main Results – While none of the cases had a formalized marketing strategy, most participants (19 out of 25) acknowledged the importance of developing one. Those who did not find it necessary argued that their users had good knowledge of library e-resources, thus, marketing was unnecessary. Although there was a lack of a marketing strategic plan across all the cases, some of the participants were practicing e-book marketing and promotion to some extent. The interviewees mentioned a total of 20 different promotional tools. The most frequently used promotional tools were library websites, information literacy sessions, OPACs, and e-mails. Participants also noted marketing using online help tutorials and various events. The least frequently mentioned promotional tools were announcement boards, a library representative, blogs, bulletins, the display screen, and a marketing campaign. The marketing campaign was only mentioned by librarians from one library.

According to some respondents, there are faculty and course instructors who contribute in promotion of e-books dependently or independently from the library. Some recommend e-books as course reading materials, some add links to e-books on the virtual learning environment (VLE) reading lists, and some even go beyond that and provide instructions on how to use e-books. Not all librarians were aware of the use of e-books by faculty.
The authors also investigated the future plans anticipated by the participants. There was only one library that has appointed a marketing officer and intends to develop a marketing strategy. All other cases plan to improve on current marketing practices or expressed innovative approaches in marketing by “development of an information literacy project, use of online chat, promotion of e-books in course committee meetings, provision of a paper guide for e-books,” CD case display of available e-books, and other strategies (p. 633).

Marketing a new service comes with its own issues and challenges. The most frequently mentioned issues and challenges that librarians were facing were time constraints, raising users’ expectations, and e-book availability in the library. Also, accessibility was of concern to some participants.

Conclusion – This study underlines the importance of marketing a library’s new resources, particularly e-books, and it confirms the lack of a strategic approach to marketing in academic libraries. Some participants recognize the importance of a strategic plan, and practice e-book marketing using a variety of tools. However, most tools are not marketing specific, but are either communication tools or part of service delivery. The authors stated that most interviewees had a reflective approach to marketing, since they were trying to improve the current marketing practices by innovative means or by adapting successful practices from other colleagues.

The authors recommend that establishing a well thought-out strategic approach would help overcome several issues and challenges raised by participants. It would help manage the tension between service delivery and promotion. Also, it would provide clear guidelines for developing a budget allocation plan for e-book purchasing. In addition, internal marketing would help establish a culture of user-centred service in the library, and highlights the importance of new services among library staff.
Libraries are always dependent on publishers’ decisions concerning the availability of and licensing agreements for e-books. They are considered as “intermediaries in the information or document supply chain” (p. 638). The authors suggest future studies to understand the role of libraries in managing links between licensing issues and service delivery.

One interesting observation in this study was the absence of Web 2.0 tools as promotional tools. It seems that libraries do not fully take advantage of new technology for marketing. Another interesting finding was the inaccurate or indirect reference to the notion of word-of-mouth by respondents. In this study, word-of-mouth was mentioned as a marketing tool by only a few participants. No one perceived the role of academic faculty in promoting e-books by word-of-mouth. While word-of-mouth is considered to be an invaluable marketing strategy because it is a tailored recommendation by consumers to consumers (Alire, 2007), it was neglected by most respondents in this study. Overall, the lack of knowledge of marketing strategies and users’ information seeking behaviour among academic librarians is evident.

Services in the health sector have indirectly undergone changes, initially promotions could be in the form of face-to-face, now becoming a digital system called the industrial revolution 4.0. People in this world have been exposed to the digital system, so where there is a medium there must be a human. This change has a positive impact where you can enjoy this change. In the present era, it has developed into electronics in the form of modules, books (e-modules, e-books) and others. Development occurs in the book on maternal and child health (the MCH handbook). Methods in solving this problem can be done in stages include; (1) Dissemination of e-module links, (2) Mother's identity; (3) Pre test; (4) Learning (electronic); (5) Test post; (6) Personal or group discussion. Evaluation of the stages above, the process of developing the MCH e-module and the final result through the assistance of mothers who became respondents. By differentiating the initial and final results of learning, it is hoped that it will motivate mothers to carry out supporting activities for maternal and child health. In addition to the material, it can also be used as a reminder that mothers should check their mothers and children on time. With the development of this MCH handbook, it is hoped that mothers can wisely carry out pregnancy checks, preparation for birth to care and growth and development of children.

Abstract:
Modern agricultural practices rely on the excessive use of chemical fertilizers to increase crop yields to meet the growing population's demand. It has exploited the inherent biological potential of soil and plant systems. Sustainable agricultural practices focus on equal attention to soil and plant health. Plant growthpromoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) serve the plants by combating abiotic and biotic stressors in the environment. These microorganisms aid plants in multiple ways by colonizing the plant roots. They work effectively as biofertilizers and as biocontrol agents and help in fostering plant growth through either direct (potassium and phosphorous solubilization, siderophore production, nitrogen fixation) or indirect (production of VOCs, antibiotics, lytic enzymes) mechanisms. To upgrade their application to agro-ecosystems, modern technologies are being worked out. These aim at improving the efficacy of PGPR and uplifting agricultural sustainability. Therefore, in this book chapter, the role and mechanism of PGPR as soil health boosters and plant growth enhancers were discussed. Further, it sheds light on recent developments made to strongly present PGPR as a potent candidate for green agriculture.

Abstract:
A biofuel is defined as any fuel derived from organic materials like plants, agricultural crops, their waste products, and by-products. Due to depleting oil sources, energy security issues, and growing environmental concerns from rising greenhouse gas emissions and climate change, biofuels have gained a lot of attention recently. Modern technology is causing a significant rise in energy demand, which is resulting in an excessive use of fossil fuels. As a result, renewable energy is being examined as a potential replacement and is becoming more and more significant due to its effects on the environment, society, and economy. The biofuels are categorized into solid, liquid and gaseous biofuels based on the biomass used in their production. Biofuels are derived from biomass, which absorbs a substantial amount of CO2 from the atmosphere, their production and utilization are often considered carbon-neutral. Biochemical conversion and thermochemical conversion are the two main methods used to convert biomass into energy. Through the use of these processes, the biomass is transformed into three main categories of products: biofuels, heat, and power for the production of electricity. Globally, there is an increase in the generation of biofuels employing various developing technologies and biological processes from various bioresources. Waste disposal difficulties could be resolved and environmental burdens reduced if biomass waste and agricultural crop leftovers are used to make biofuels Economic sustainability is just unsustainable in the current environment. By contributing to local and national energy security, fostering economic growth, diversifying rural economies, creating employment opportunities, substituting imports with direct and indirect trade balance effects, enhancing energy supply, and promoting diversification through new industry creation, biofuel production and utilization offer opportunities for sustainable solutions.

Abstract How does an authoritarian state oscillate between neglecting and emphasizing an epidemic? How does it dismantle or innovate bureaucratic arrangements controlling its transmission? Whose suffering becomes policy-worthy and whose is overlooked? This opening chapter outlines these central questions of the book, moving beyond conventional domestic factors to introduce a novel framework that examines the dynamic interactions among transnational interveners, government agencies, and local activists in driving the evolution of China’s epidemic control systems. Utilizing eleven-year longitudinal multi-sited ethnography, it demonstrates how foreign interventions promoting liberal reforms can be generative of authoritarian health institutions, either directly through shaping bureaucrats, or indirectly through mobilizing domestic social movements. This generative framework highlights organizational and knowledge dynamics, rather than money and power, in explaining the remarkable impact of seemingly weak transnational AIDS organizations on China.

Abstract:
Law pertaining to trade worldwide and climate change are two distinct domains that inexorably and frequently cross paths. A new significant issue about the connection between climate change and global trade was about to emerge. Due to the fact that the production and distribution of traded products and services are directly or indirectly responsible for 25% of the world's carbon dioxide emissions, trade policies may significantly aid in promoting climate change mitigation and adaptation. Coherence between policies and systems is crucial when discussing the global trading system. Global trade has an impact on emissions in a globalizing world. Trade regulations are crucial for the spread of eco-friendly technologies. While some contend that environmental conservation and trade liberalization are mutually exclusive objectives, others assert the opposite. This publication's major goal is to make the requirements of international trade law in connection to climate change policy clear and transparent. This will allow negotiators to judge the legitimacy of the WTO threat strategy. The article is broken up into four parts in this context. The preambles of all multilateral and other agreements concerning free trade and environmental harm that have been adopted by United Nations members states are included in Part I. Carbon Limits (BCA) in Part II; To balance variations in the rigor of climate regulations among trading partners, a trade-related policy tool will be created. The new WTO regulations on subsidies for fossil fuels are discussed in Part III. The article ends with an analysis and final remarks.

Abstract:
What is the future of open ecosystems, the ancient savannas, grasslands, shrublands, and woodlands that are the central topic of this book? Their trajectories under current and future climate change are difficult to project since their dominant growth forms are only indirectly determined by climate. Rising CO2 is changing the balance so as to favour trees. Woody encroachment is widespread in open ecosystems globally, though the causes are complex, including fire suppression, changes in herbivore densities and composition, and CO2 effects on plant growth. Increasing drought is promoting large fires in woody fuels. The net effect on forest advance or retreat is uncertain. The biggest threat for untransformed open ecosystems is conversion to forests, whether by invasion of native or alien trees, or afforestation schemes targeting their assumed potential for carbon sequestration. This chapter considers the threats to open ecosystems, the consequences of their loss, and changes in policy and management needed to ensure their future.

Abstract:
Climate change will profoundly impact global health, putting billions at increased risk. Earth's average surface temperature is projected to exceed the safe limit of 2°C above pre-industrial levels. Higher latitudes like northern Canada, Greenland, and Siberia may experience even greater temperature rises of 4–5°C. The report identifies significant health threats, including changing disease patterns, water, and food insecurity, vulnerable settlements, extreme weather events, and population growth and migration. While direct risks from vector-borne diseases and heatwaves are evident, the most significant health impacts are likely to result indirectly from changes in water and food availability and the frequency of extreme climatic events (Watts et al., 2018). Despite the pressing concern for global health, the gendered dimensions of climate change's impact remain largely overlooked. This review addresses this gap by examining gender-specific health impacts and underlying socio-cultural factors exacerbating vulnerability. It highlights disparities in women's and men's health outcomes concerning food security, water and sanitation, vector-borne diseases, mental health, and reproductive health. Synthesizing evidence from diverse regions and case studies reveals distinct vulnerabilities faced by women. 'Intersectionality' is now a crucial aspect of feminist scholarship, driving extensive research and academic engagement, revolutionizing feminist and gender studies since the late 1980s (Salem, 2018). Guided by feminist theory, the review analyzes climate change and health impacts through a gendered lens, revealing disparities in nutrition, access to clean water, and mental health risks women face, especially in disaster-prone regions. Gender-inclusive mental health interventions are essential during and after climate-related disasters. The review highlights climate-induced disruptions to reproductive health services, increasing maternal mortality rates in vulnerable regions. The feminist theory prioritizes family planning and reproductive health in climate-resilience strategies to protect women's rights and well-being. Promising gender-responsive climate policies empower women as change agents, leading to effective resilience measures and sustainable solutions. Integrating gender-specific data collection is crucial to address women's unique vulnerabilities. In conclusion, this review underscores the critical importance of recognizing the gendered impacts of climate change on health. Integrating gender perspectives into climate change policies is essential to achieve equitable health outcomes and enhance overall resilience. Guided by the feminist theory, we call for concerted efforts at local, national, and global levels to prioritize gender-responsive climate policies, thereby promoting the health and well-being of all and fostering a more sustainable and just future

Full text
Abstract:
Tropical regions such as South Asia (SA) and Sub-Saharan (SSA) do have storage environment that may impose abiotic and/or biotic stress or. This book chapter aims to broaden current knowledge on the ‘Abiotic and Biotic Stress Factors Affecting Storage of Legumes in Tropics’. This book chapter is prepared by including all relevant studies and detailed literatures using various scholastic search approaches. Typically, published papers and abstracts are identified by a computerized search of electronic data bases that include PubMed, Science Direct, Scirus, ISI Web of Knowledge, Google Scholar and CENTRAL (Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials). Thus, diseases, insects, etc…, are biological factors that cause biotic stress in plants while abiotic stress is caused by either physical or chemical factors. Biotic and abiotic stresses create adverse effects on multiple procedures of morphology, biochemistry and physiology that are directly connected with growth and yield of legume grains. It is, therefore, clear that the most important factors of food grains loss are moisture, temperature, metabolic activity and respiration, insects, mites, micro-organisms, rodents, birds and storage structures. Initial grain condition or quality of the seed for storage can indirectly be affected by abiotic stresses like water scarcity, high salinity, extreme temperatures, and mineral deficiencies or metal toxicities which reduce the crop’s productivity. For maintenance of storage of initial grain’s quality, grain must be dried and cooled prior to storage, the store must be constructed for blocking rodents and birds, enabling protection from sun and light entrance, allowing aeration to keep the temperature uniform in the store. Also, bringing the temperature of the grain down to below 12°C is necessary, since this temperature is a threshold at which microorganisms’ reproductive activity is inhibited. Storage spaces with higher relative humidity (95%) and a temperature of 35°C, are detrimental for storage of legume grains. In general, legume grains should be attaining a temperature of about ≤ 10 °C before placing them in store. For storage safety, it is preferable to place the grain in the storage at moisture content of 13%, or less than 14% on wet basis. Also, combining drying and storage facilities in one and the same structure is economical, and allows further conditioning at later stages if required. In order to reduce postharvest loss from customs of traditional storage by farmers in tropics, governments should mobilize and integrate multidisciplinary management system of storage loss, and monitor precautionary measures of the stored grain throughout the storage period. They should be facilitating the selection and promotion of alternative, cost-effective and appropriate storage structures considering suitability to local conditions and sustainability.
