Developmental stage theory has been well attended to by groupwork theorists. A neglected area in the group work literature is the stages, or phases, of group development in each group session. The paper provides a holistic model for sessional groupwork practice that includes tasks and skills in the beginning, middle and ending stages of individual sessions, problems typically encountered in sessional work, transition between sessional stages and connectedness between sessions.

Abstract:
The implementation of Team-Based Learning (TBL, http://www.teambasedlearning.org) in one-semester undergraduate courses of chemistry offered to first year students is reported. TBL is an active learning instructional strategy heavily relying on small group interaction. Teaching lab classes in a TBL context presented a specific challenge, as decisions were required about their role in the global framework and the possibility of incorporating lab activities as “teamwork”. The design of lab sessions as TBL team application activities is here also illustrated, both for a course of General Chemistr

This guide shows how practice supervisors can best facilitate discussions about child sexual abyse within individual and group supervision sessions, and in team meetings. It also explains how they can use a range of publications produced by the Centre of expertise on child sexual abuse (CSA Centre) – and particularly our ‘Key messages from research’ series – to support reflection and discussion.

Abstract: Multiple studies have found that psychiatric disorders, like mood disorders and substance use disorders, are highly comorbid among adults with either disorder. Integrated treatment refers to the treatment of two or more conditions and the use of multiple therapies such as the combination of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. Integrated therapy for comorbidity per numerous studies has consistently been superior to the treatment of individual disorders separately. The purpose of this QI project was to identify the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) instead of current t

Review question / Objective: This systematic review aims to compile and order all the training load measures, all fatigue assessments, and all well-being questionnaires used in volleyball training/match monitoring, systematizing them. Condition being studied: Training load: cumulative amount of stress placed on an individual from multiple sessions and games over a period of time. Neuromuscular fatigue: A response that is less than the expected or anticipated contractile response, for a given stimulation. Well-being: A continuous, active process, which is geared towards balancing one’s physical

Abstract:
MERCOSUR made substantial achievements in a short period. There was a great deal of liberalization; intra-regional trade increased significantly; a certain sense of regional belonging was inculcated among national publics; and the regional project served as a pretext for national adjustments. Inconsistencies nonetheless persisted between the project¿s goals, on the one hand, and its institutions and mechanisms on the other; there have been persistent gaps between rhetorical aims and concrete practices; and by the turn of the present decade various subregional crises seemed to call MERCOSUR¿s r

Abstract:
We report a laboratory experiment on dynamic patent races in an indefinite horizon with complete information. In a competitive environment, we analyze the R&D investment behavior of players who are randomly and anonymously paired in each race. We vary subjects’ initial positions as leader/follower or symmetric/asymmetric, as well as the distance between the initial knowledge stock and the target. Our results show that individual average effort is highest for players in a tie position, followed by leaders, and lowest for followers. Starting as a follower (leader) leads to a lower (higher) c

McEntee, Alice, Sonia Hines, Joshua Trigg, et al. Tobacco cessation in CALD communities. The Sax Institute, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.57022/sneg4189.

Full text
Abstract:
Background Australia is a multi-cultural society with increasing rates of people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. On average, CALD groups have higher rates of tobacco use, lower participation in cancer screening programs, and poorer health outcomes than the general Australian population. Lower cancer screening and smoking cessation rates are due to differing cultural norms, health-related attitudes, and beliefs, and language barriers. Interventions can help address these potential barriers and increase tobacco cessation and cancer screening rates among CALD groups

This report describes an online course developed to support education systems to build an aligned and sustainable approach to integration of 21st Century Skills (21CS). 21CS are those skills that are considered particularly important to succeed in today’s knowledge-based society in which innovation and technology are predominant. Prominent examples include critical thinking, creative thinking, and collaboration, and such skills need to be better understood in order for them to be integrated. While different countries may have their own frameworks or priorities surrounding 21CS, a consistent ap
