Abstract:
Factors such as increases in population, urbanization, growth in per capita income and changes in consumer taste and preferences are causing gradual increases in livestock product consumption and demand. South Africa is addressing this predicted increase in livestock products demand by commercializing smallholder livestock producers. The Limpopo Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Nguni Cattle Development Project is an example of such effort. The economic performance of these efforts needs to be evaluated. We use gross margin analysis to evaluate the performance of the Limpopo IDC Nguni Cattle Development Project. Additionally, we use regression analysis to identify factors influencing gross margins. Our results indicate that although smallholders show potential to commercialize, they lack commercial farming experience and require that a strong extension support system be used as one of the strategies to improve profitability. We also noted that individual farmers were more profitable than group farmers. Multiple regression analysis shows that three variables could be used to stimulate gross margin among the Limpopo IDC Nguni Cattle Development Project farmers. These are herd size, distance to market and farm size. Since farm size is a given, policy should focus on assisting farmers to build their herds and to have better access to markets.

Abstract:
What are the variables determining the organization structure of public sector enterprises in developing countries? Are they different from those of private sector organizations in developed and developing countries? Venkataramana and Sarma attempt to answer these questions by examining in depth the structure of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (APIDC), which has been set up by the Government of Andhra Pradesh to promote industrial development in the state. The authors examine how APIDC'S structure has evolved and assess the performance of the organization against the stated objectives. They state that APIDC's structure has so evolved as to subserve the strategic interests of a dominant coalition which relies on political power in decision making.

Abstract:
In recent years, also in connection with Covid-19 pandemics and enforced restrictions, there has been the formation of large industrial corporations gathering separate companies with similar, sometimes complementary production profiles. This evolving trend has brought usually positive economic effects; however, it has also created some integration problems that include the process safety management. The Texas City BP accident in 2005 and its tremendous human and economic losses underlined the obstacles in defining a well-structured corporation process safety management. The main causes of the above-mentioned accident were connected to an inadequate safety culture at the managerial level. Strong leadership and high standards of corporate governance are required to inspire correct safety behavior in the staff. The so-called soft skills become even more important in the Industry 4.0 arena, where the foundation of the whole system is based on an intelligent use and interpretation of data. The importance of this aspect is confirmed by several post-accidental analyses of past events. Although some research on this topic has been already done, it is worth it to dedicate some effort to identifying specific factors which influence the corporate process safety management quality, and, once identified, to assess them. This paper applies the concept of “lessons learnt” for the identification of organizational and managerial aspects worth consideration in process safety management. Based on accident and literature reviews and expert opinions, the aim is to identify the major contributing factors among leadership and safety culture, risk awareness, knowledge and competence, communication, and information and decision-making processes. To self-assess the level of commitment of the top leaders in process safety management, a checklist approach is proposed, combined with a quantitative, weighted evaluation based on the Relative Efficiency Indicator (REI). Positive value of REI may ensure the effectiveness of process safety management in major hazard industries and their appropriate adaptation to the corporation community. The proposed method, which is validated in an actual case study, underlines the importance of an appropriate education, and of a more careful selection of HSE managers.

Abstract:
This study focuses on the wide range of manufacturing industries in Japan and hypothesized the numerous factors external to a corporation particularly for abstracting the determinants of research and development (R&D) expenditures. Previous studies primarily dealt with internal corporate factors such as sales, operating profits, or diversification. This study selected, integrated, and performed multiple regression analyses for nine industries based on the panel data concerning R&D expenditures. This resulted in the abstraction of statistically significant factors. R&D expenditures in the preceding term are an internal factor. This could be considered a comprehensive and continuous indicator of the scale of a corporation, its performance, its fixed R&D expenditures and corporate strategies. External factors cited are growth of the market, competitiveness, export dependency, labor intensity, and whether products are directed toward end-customers. This study would especially aid in deciding the R&D strategy as an aspect of the company expenses.

Abstract:
In the context of the systemic reform of the Russian economy, there is a tendency to the emergence of corporations in various sectors of the national economy. The military-industrial complex is no exception. The article deals with the specifics of property management of corporations of the military-industrial complex in the production of high-tech products. To achieve the strategic goals of the corporation, it is necessary to develop a strategy based on objective forecasts of the development of the arms market, taking into account potential external and internal risks, as well as an analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the corporation. Corporate governance is based on the existing norms in the field of financial activities, securities, labor relations in the labor market, contractual obligations, and contractual activities between enterprises. It is proved that the adaptive development of corporations of the military-industrial complex directly depends on the competent organization of financial activities, as well as within its framework of credit and investment activities. The article presents the balance sheet model of financing of the defense industry corporation, which allows to form the budget of the defense industry corporation, based on the allocation of financial resources for the operation and development of the main activities of the defense industry corporation. One of the most important tasks of managing the property of corporations of the military-industrial complex is to provide opportunities for scientific and technological development, which, after commercialization, can create key strategic competitive advantages for enterprises of the defense industry corporation.

Abstract:
THE BASIC strategy of export promotion currently in vogue is import liberalization. The objective is to remove every possible obstacle to the production of goods for export. The logic is that the liberal import of machinery and intermediate products would make production for export less expensive, more profitable and hence easier. Whatever way we might look at it, the major beneficiary of a strategy of import-based export production and industrialization is the transnational corporation. We need a different approach to foreign trade as one of the components of industrial development. Foreign trade must become an integral part of the planning process. The basic principle of imports for industrial development and exports bas to be modified, to ensure that import liberalization meets priority needs of industry, not indigenously available or likely to be developed within a short time. Import substitution has not become irrelevant, however fashionable it might be to say so. In our drive to increase our exports of engineering goods, we should not Jose sight of our traditional exports. In the case of nontraditional goods, the need is to bear in mind comparative advantage and build up such thrust areas as are likely to have a continuing and expanding market over a reasonable time-frame. This is what demands unport substitution in certain well-identified thrust areas, in which we have comparative advantage.

Abstract:
ECONOMIC HISTORY IS FAR REMOVED FROM PRECISE SCIENCE and cannot offer an unambiguous explanation of the initiation, pace and causes of rapid industrial growth. Nevertheless, few economic historians would disagree that the pattern of growth is not random; and that in evaluating it, technological innovation must be a central element. The landmarks of industrial development are conventionally thought of in terms of science and technology. From the adoption of the stirrup and the plough, which heralded the feudal age in Europe; to the spread of the silicon chip and the microprocessor, which lie at the core of the emergent IT economy, the development of society can be charted in terms of technological change. And just as the analysis of technological change has become one of the dominant tools of the economic historian, so ‘futurology’ is centred around trajectories of innovation. Over the next century changes are projected which are just as profound as those experienced since 1890. The world of 2090 will be different, and while the fundamental political differences may be unpredictable, there is a presumption that it will be technologically very different from the present. It is appropriate that popular speculation about future society is termed not ‘future fiction’ but ‘science fiction’.

A large share of the energy efficiency improvement measures available for industrial companies remains unadopted due to the existence of various barriers to energy efficiency. One of the main means of overcoming barriers to energy efficiency is via energy management operations. The major parts of the published scientific papers have covered energy management on a company level or on a sector level. However, so far, the literature is scarce regarding empirical studies on energy management on a corporate level. With the aim of filling the research gap, the aim of this paper is to empirically assess the performance of an in-house energy management program adoption from the year of initiation and four years ahead in the multinational company Volvo CE. The paper was conducted as a case study including a participative approach, which has not previously been done in energy management research. This paper adds value, through complementing the existing literature on energy management on a factory or sector level, by highlighting the importance of leadership, speed of execution, and cultural transformation on a corporate level.

Abstract:
Introduction. The development of a modern society is determined by the interaction of various state, commercial and public organizations, which have their own principles, traditions and values, on which the behavior of individuals is based. In such a case, an urgent problem for industrial corporations is finding a value-oriented idea to develop a system of careful management of the environment and taking into account the interests of all stakeholders. It must be accepted by consumers, staff and business owners, without which its successful implementation is impossible. For this purpose, the whole process, from the development of the idea to the control of the obtained results, should be carried out on the basis of scientifically substantiated methodical and practical recommendations for the choice of appropriate management measures that will maximally contribute to the sustainable development of the enterprise. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to develop a management system for an industrial corporation’s sustainable development while minimizing the losses caused by the realization of financial, technological and environmental risks. Methodology. The methodology of the work is based on the method of systematic analysis in describing а management system for an industrial corporation’s sustainable development, and management methods in the development of management measures. Results. The results of the article are to formulate the definition of "management system for an industrial corporation’s sustainable development " as a system in which executives of various levels exercise on the environmental, economic and social elements of the managed subsystem of industrial corporations a purposeful set of measures to ensure positive changes in socio-economic indicators of activity loss while minimizing caused by the realization of risks associated with the effects of financial, environmental, technological and human factors. In order to achieve sustainable development goals, industrial corporation executives are invited to choose a set of measures for the environmental, economic and social elements of the managed subsystem, which should include: organizational changes to identify the centers of decision-making responsibility, identify signs of risk realization and prevent the occurrence of appropriate risks and optimizing the distribution of results of industrial corporation activities among stakeholders.

Abstract:
Purpose. To establish integrated innovation management based on developing a corporate innovation base at industrial enterprises in the context of post-conflict transformation. Methodology. In the course of the works, the methods of theoretical generalization, comparison, synthesis, analysis were used to reveal the general principles and to determine the basic categories of the study. Findings. A model of the integrated innovation management approach at industrial enterprises is developed. In modern corporate structures, innovations are divided into groups according to their independent properties. The innovation management system, if it exists, is considered as an independent system that has its own set of goals which are not integrated into the goals of the corporation itself. The paper considers the goals of innovation management in an integrated structure as the implementation of the goals of a corporation, where innovation management processes are integrated horizontally and vertically according to business processes. Innovation management is based on three approaches: transfer, algorithmic and creative ones. Originality. The paper offers the authors methods for managing innovation by using the system of methodological approaches (algorithmic, transfer, creative managements), based on processes of innovation management at the industrial enterprises in the context of post-conflict transformation, which have been identified applying the mathematical models. Abstract:
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems play a significant role in providing remote access, monitoring and control of critical infrastructures (CIs) which includes electrical power systems, water distribution systems, nuclear power plants, etc. The growing interconnectivity, standardization of communication protocols and remote accessibility of modern SCADA systems have contributed massively to the exposure of SCADA systems and CIs to various forms of security challenges. Any form of intrusive action on the SCADA modules and communication networks can create devastating consequences on nations due to their strategic importance to CIs’ operations. Therefore, the prompt and efficient detection and classification of SCADA systems intrusions hold great importance for national CIs operational stability. Due to their well-recognized and documented efficiencies, several literature works have proposed numerous supervised learning techniques for SCADA intrusion detection and classification (IDC). This paper presents a critical review of recent studies whereby supervised learning techniques were modelled for SCADA intrusion solutions. The paper aims to contribute to the state-of-the-art, recognize critical open issues and offer ideas for future studies. The intention is to provide a research-based resource for researchers working on industrial control systems security. The analysis and comparison of different supervised learning techniques for SCADA IDC systems were critically reviewed, in terms of the methodologies, datasets and testbeds used, feature engineering and optimization mechanisms and classification procedures. Finally, we briefly summarized some suggestions and recommendations for future research works.

Abstract:
Objective - The growth and magnitude of industrial sickness is a dangerous issue, not only for the present situation but also for the near future. There are many reasons that could have caused a company to become sick and the reasons could be internal or external or a combination of both. In that regard, this paper aims to analyse the presence of industrial sickness by reviewing the revival policy measures of the Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited (FCIL), particularly the Ramagundam unit. Methodology/Technique - Data for this paper are extracted from sources such as the Indian Economy reports, the Department of Fertilizers Government of India reports and personal interviews with the employees of the Fertilizers Corporation of India Limited, Ramagundam unit. Findings - The results showed that the FCIL unit became sick mainly because of poor management decisions, feeble human resource management, use of outdated technology, power-cut problems, non-availability of raw materials and wrong government policies. Novelty - This paper highlights why the FCIL has been declared as a sick company and what sort of government policies and preventive actions should be taken for revival or to rehabilitate the company. The development of communication technology in the field of education has an impact with the rise of virtual education or E-learning is a method of learning by using communication technology and Internet information. With the development of technology, the media books that have been used slowly began to switch to digital media. Digital media has several types of devices that can be used as a substitute media for books such as television, PC (Personal Computer), laptops and smartphones. Of the several digital devices that allow for easy to use and flexible is a smartphone. According to IDC (International Data Corporation), the smartphone market worldwide grew 1.1% from the third quarter of 2016, with 363.2 million shipments. Android dominates the smartphone market with 86.8% share. And Samsung, being the number one contributor remains in the top spot. The Directorate General of Primary and Secondary Education reports that the value of English subjects in the National Examination is low. The concrete picture of the result of the national survey of English language learning in 2009, the junior high student test scores low and very heterogeneous, the average value is 44.71 with a range of 0 - 95. From the explanation of the problem, it is necessary to realize a solution for someone interested even desire to learn English. One interesting solution to apply is Electronic Learning (E-learning). By using E-learning, will facilitate the user in learning something, this is because users can access the material through a smartphone. Abstract:
Abstract Established in 1949 in the face of Fianna Fáil hostility, and greeted with suspicion by both the department of Industry and Commerce and the department of Finance, the Industrial Development Authority within ten years had carved out a powerful position for itself within the bureaucracy. By the early 1950s, while Seán Lemass was still wedded to the concept of import-substituting industrialisation, the I.D.A. was formulating its vision for ‘industrialisation by invitation’ and lobbying internally for the introduction of export profits tax relief. The adoption of this measure in 1956 initiated the low corporation-tax regime that remains in place to this day. Though frequently conflated, the reorientation of industrial policy in the 1950s and the dismantling of tariff barriers in the 1960s were quite separate initiatives. That the establishment of the I.D.A. and the adoption of export profits tax relief were opposed by the department of Finance and enacted by inter-party governments clearly distinguishes them from the later trade-liberalisation initiative associated with the partnership of T. K. Whitaker and Lemass. The present paper explores the circumstances surrounding the establishment of the I.D.A. and traces its evolution and expanding influence over the first ten years of its existence.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT This paper and presentation will focus on the importance of developing a comprehensive emergency management plan and how it could be integrated with your corporate crisis management plan along with federal, state, and local response agencies. Industrial Business Continuity represents a comprehensive planning process that includes everything from risk assessment and response operations through recovery. The trend over the past few years has been to move from a corporate profit structure to strategic business units with plant managers increasingly responsible for overall business development. Traditionally, business continuity focuses on systems and data recovery, while regulatory requirements tend to focus on emergency response and compliance. Industrial Business Continuity goes a step beyond both of those. It focuses on quality and critical business functions as well as the more traditional risk assessment and emergency response procedures that are found in most plans. In today's world, a measure of quality for the plant manager is how quickly and efficiently the plant can resume normal operations and circumstances after a major incident. This process includes such areas as community relations and risk communications., those areas that are usually associated with recovery. An Industrial Business Continuity plan that is developed to enhance a facility's response and recovery capability and is developed solely within facility boundaries does not accurately reflect its actual capability. Companies must integrate their crisis and emergency management programs within their corporation and with pertinent external response agencies. The benefits of integrating these plans far surpass the costs of program development.

AbstractThe redevelopment of former docklands, with docks frequently backfilled by end tipping through water, requires careful planning and a proper understanding of the geotechnical properties of the materials involved. An overall scheme for development of part of the former Surrey Commercial Docks Southwark, disused since 1960s, was formulated by London Docklands Development Corporation to provide a new environment encompassing housing, schooling, a shopping centre, social and recreation facilities and light industrial units. This paper presents a review of the development strategy and planning aspects of the development of Surrey Quays with particular reference to the assessment of the former wharf areas and the quality of the dockfill. Planning considerations, along with the role of geotechnics within the infrastructure development plan, are presented. The results of geotechnical investigations which included an extensive phase of field and laboratory testing, led to a ground improvement programme consisting of surcharge loading and vibro-replacement.

Some moments in the history of the formation of the concept and the modern components of the mechanism of industrial corporations sustainable development, which comprehensively combines the managerial, economic, social and environmental aspects have been presented in the paper. The experience of disclosing information in the field of sustainable development by the largest metallurgical corporations having assets in the Russian Federation has been presented and analyzed as well. The research has shown that using the unified GRI Standards recommendations, management of each corporation independently determines the number and composition of indices required to assess the Triple Bottom Line. It has been concluded that the lack of a unified methodology for disclosing information in the field of achieving sustainable development results does not allow corporations to compare them, since one of the main principles of scientific research, i.e. the principle of results comparability is violated. The following authors’ position is defended: in order to eliminate the reasons that complicate the comparative assessment of the results of sustainable development of industrial corporations, the reporting methodology needs to be improved.

Abstract:
The paper investigates the factors and indicators of innovative development, considers their impact on the environmental management and improvement of the efficiency of innovation management of the oil and gas corporations. The purpose of the paper is to determine exogenous and endogenous factors and indicators of innovative development of the oil and gas corporation. The paper employs empirical, theoretical, and quantitative (statistical) research methods. As a result of the study, the authors determined an effective indicator calculated based on several indicators of innovative development; the factors of innovative development were identified and a connection between the factors of innovative development was proposed, proceeding from which, an approach to factor analysis of the indicators of innovative development of the oil and gas corporation in a certain restriction system (correlation system) was developed. The developed approach to factor analysis of innovative development indicators allows to adequately assess, analyze, and determine key indicators based on the effectiveness of innovation management to reduce high inappropriate costs for research and development (R&D) and optimize the business at large upon the introduction of high-tech solutions, innovative products and developments. This study can be applied in industrial sectors.

The formation of Halal Development Corporation (HDC) in September 2006 was a strong indication of the Malaysian government’s aspiration towards actualising Malaysia as the regional and international hub for Halal industry. HDC is dedicated to becoming the central implementation agency for key Halal industry development initiatives. Its pertinent roles are to promote Halal industries, liaise with government agencies and authorities and to assist business entities and investors. Since Halal is a national agenda, in discharging its function HDC closely works with various agencies which include Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), State Religious Council/Department of States, Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-Operatives & Consumerism (MDTCC), Ministry of Trade And Industry (MITI), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA), Department of Veterinary Services, Department of Standards and many more. AbstractThis article uses theories of industrial policy to analyse the growth of China's telecommunications equipment industry over the past 20 years. It highlights the role of the Chinese government in shaping the sector, by first utilizing imported equipment, then promoting Sino-foreign joint ventures and finally fostering domestic companies. Significantly, the government encouraged market competition, and avoided the pitfall of monopoly state control. Today, key telecommunications players include joint ventures, state-owned companies and even a major Chinese private corporation. The article concludes that the government's fiscal and regulatory industrial polices were successful, in that they rapidly built a modern communications network while promoting a vibrant free-market competitive environment.

Abstract:
Employment generation has been one of the goals of creating or maintaining government -owned enterprises in the past. In fulfilling this role public enterprises often played the role of the model employer see Lakshman (1984). In the current policy atmosphere both domestically and internationally, there is a trend to limit the size of government intervention in the economy. In Pakistan the privatisation of industrial units and the planned divestiture of infrastructural units like Water and Power Development Authority (W APDA), Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESe) and Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation (PTe) is changing the mix of public-private domain in economic activity. What would be the impact of labour retrenchment in the former public enterprises? Estimates show that there has been a 42 percent reduction in employment in the recently privatised units [Naqvi (1994»). If the government reduces the public sector workforce and cuts back the liberal remuneration package to public employees, which groups would benefit from such a move? These questions have been analysed in the context of a computable general equilibrium (CGE) model. Section 2 describes the model. This is followed by a brief discussion of the data. Model simulation results are discussed in Section 4 and the conclusions are presented in Section 5. The Appendix contains the equations referred to in the text.

The Shuaiba Industrial Area (SIA) is located about 50 km south of Kuwait City. It accommodates most of the large-scale industries in Kuwait. The total area of the SIA (both eastern and western sectors) is about 22.98 million m2. Fifteen plants are located in the eastern sector and 23 in the western sector, including two petrochemical companies, three refineries, two power plants, a melamine company, an industrial gas corporation, a paper products company and, two steam electricity generating stations, in addition to several other industries. Therefore, only 30 percent of the land in the SIA's eastern sector and 70 percent of land in the SIA's western sector is available for future expansion. Presently, industries in the SIA generate approximately 204,000 t of solid waste. With future development in the industries in the SIA, the estimated quantities will reach 240,000 t. The Shuaiba Area Authority (SAA), a governmental regulatory body responsible for planning and development in the SIA, has recognized the problem of solid waste and has developed an industrial waste minimization program. This program would help to reduce the quantity of waste generated within the SIA and thereby reduce the cost of waste management. This paper presents a description of the waste minimization program and how it is to be implemented by major petroleum companies. The protocols employed in the waste minimization program are detailed.

Abstract:
Abstract This study examines the cultural perceptions of Africans in Diaspora on the Atlantic slave trade and reparations. It uses a cultural centered model to analyze the perception of Africans in Diaspora about the issue of slavery and reparations. The paper also uses a survey method to explore the perceptions of African-Americans in the United States, Africans living in Europe, and Africans living in the African continent about reparations. It argues that the environmental, religious, occupational, social and political conditions that Africans in Diaspora currently live in will determine their perception of slavery and reparations. Despite this argument, the paper stresses that it is a violation of the established precedence in law that is based on the principle of unjust enrichment to not pay some reparations to the present generation of Africans. This principle stipulates that if a person, a corporation or a country profit from the criminal treatment of a group of people, such a person, corporation or country is subject to the payment of reparations on the basis of unjust enrichment. The study further attempts to explain why it has been difficult for the western industrial world to agree to pay reparations to the children of over 25,000,000 Africans who were wrenched out of Africa as slaves. The concluding section of the paper suggests different reparation methods that would help create a permanent solution that might be acceptable to all.

Abstract:
The authoritative International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates that by 2023, global spending on public cloud services and infrastructure will be more than double, mainly due to the introduction of digital transformations. Globally, the cloud market is becoming a field of increasingly fierce competition between the world's leading IT corporations. Modern education is rapidly evolving due to teachers who in recent years have introduced cloud services in their professional activities. There was an urgent question about the formation of information and educational environment for cooperation, collaboration, communication and learning mobility. This study is devoted to the analysis of the methods peculiarities of designing the information and educational environment of the discipline with the help of GoogleServices. The authors reviewed Google Services for designing open and closed information and educational environments, which are free, so they can be actively used in the educational process. The advantages of open and closed information-educational environment of the discipline as environments for the organization and management of the educational process are described. In the study, the authors identified the following characteristics of the information and educational environment: openness (support for modern standards, Internet / Intranet technology); scalability (increasing the number of services provided in the environment; the amount of information that can be processed); expansion of databases and knowledge (does not lead to the need to reconfigure the system); integration (the ability to organize a single educational environment to expand the tasks associated with the development and design of educational and methodological support of the educational process); adaptability (dynamic adjustment to the needs of both a particular educational institution and an individual user).
