The solutions used to solve the NP-complete problem called the Traveling Salesman Problem, will be examined with respect to how real designs are done. Design and implementation of TCR (Thyristor Controlled Reactor) for industrial SVC (Static VAr Compensator) systems require special design. Both power stage and control system design and implementation are thoroughly investigated in this thesis. Engineering aspects of TCR design are emphasized and supported with case studies. As the first case study<br>a novel, unified and relocatable SVC for open cast lignite mining in Turkey is designed, implemented and commissioned. The second case study is the first 12 pulse TCR design and implementation for ladle furnace compensation in the world. The SVC

Cap-and-trade is the most discussed CO2 emissions control scheme in the U.S. It is a market-based mechanism that has been used previously to successfully reduce the levels of SO2 and NOx emitted by power generators. Since electricity generators are responsible for about 40% of the CO2 emissions in the U.S., the implementation of CO2 cap-and-trade will have a significant impact on electric power generation systems. In particular, cap-and-trade will influence the investment decisions made by power generators. These decisions in turn, will affect electricity prices and demand. If the allowances (

In the past, technology efficiently assisted industrialised countries in their conquest of colonies. However, technology has not helped many less developed countries in their industrialisation. Although some literature contended that technology would inevitably spread to less developed countries, it has spread only partially to most less developed countries. The literature seems to have failed to present a clear picture of how a less developed country can acquire technology. Recently, East Asian economies and their peculiar nature became a focal point in Western literature. A key to understand

More dynamic markets, shorter product life cycles and comprehensive variant management are challenges that dominate today's market. These maxims apply to the automotive sector, which is currently highly exposed to trade wars, changing mobility patterns and the emergence of new technologies and competitors. To meet these challenges, this thesis presents the creation of a digital twin of an existing production line of electric motors using discrete event simulation. Based on a detailed literature research, a step-by-step establishment of the simulation model of the production line using the soft
