Abstract:
Industrial surveying is special field of work within engineering surveying. In this article we have documented some procedures and principles which are very special in industrial surveying. A micro-network consists of net points which are set as a base for all surveying in the industry. These points create coordinate system for all measured parts of the machine. For realization of micro-network are used well known geodetic methods such as triangulation, trilateration, levelling or trigonometric high. As horizontal and vertical controls do not exist in a factory hall, a surveyor has to find some different method to start working.

Abstract:
Over the past five years or so three-dimensional coordinate measuring techniques traditionally associated with surveyors and photogrammetrists have gained a significant place in industrial metrology. Nowhere has this been more apparent than in the automobile, shipbuilding and aerospace manufacturing sectors in the U.S. From the outset, optical triangulation techniques such as digital theodolite systems and automated photogrammetry have been widely employed, but more recently laser trilateration and total station systems have found limited application. In this paper the present role of the surveying engineer in the burgeoning field of industrial measurement is discussed, and prospects for the future are considered. One question that arises regarding the use of surveying technologies in this new area is whether the services and expertise of the surveyor are being called upon at a rate commensurate with that at which the traditional “tools of his trade” are being applied. Although the paper centers on the scene in the U.S. there is reason to believe that trends there will also be witnessed in other countries of the industrialized world.

Abstract:
In the last few years, a number of articles have pointed to the groiving relevance of joint consultation within Australian workplaces, a view which is stipported by the data from the 1990 Australian Workplace Industrial Relations Survey. The purpose of this paper is to extend the brief analysis contained in Industrial Relations at Work, and analyze the role played by joint consultative committees across employing organizations as a whole. In particular, evidence is examined relating to the growth/ decline of consultation, its links with other mechanisms for developing employee involvement, the rationale for its implementation at work, the shape and character of joint consultative committees, as well as the participants' attitudes towards these schemes. There appears to have been an increase in consultation recently, and—contrary to some observers—the committees themselves seem to be well received by those who are involved in them. The analysis also suggests that at least two rather different models of consultation appear to be operating in Australia, largely dependent upon the degree and strength of unionization at the workplace. It is argued that the links between consultation and collective bargaining should be more closely examined if there is a further move towards devolved negotiations in Australia.

Abstract:
Industrial IoT has special communication requirements, including high reliability, low latency, flexibility, and security. These are instinctively provided by the 5G mobile technology, making it a successful candidate for supporting Industrial IoT (IIoT) scenarios. The aim of this paper is to identify current research challenges and solutions in relation to 5G-enabled Industrial IoT, based on the initial requirements and promises of both domains. The methodology of the paper follows the steps of surveying state-of-the art, comparing results to identify further challenges, and drawing conclusions as lessons learned for each research domain. These areas include IIoT applications and their requirements; mobile edge cloud; back-end performance tuning; network function virtualization; and security, blockchains for IIoT, Artificial Intelligence support for 5G, and private campus networks. Beside surveying the current challenges and solutions, the paper aims to provide meaningful comparisons for each of these areas (in relation to 5G-enabled IIoT) to draw conclusions on current research gaps.

This study aims to identify a learning involving the world of work, to formulate the learning model, and to evaluate the learning model. This study used a qualitative approach for design and development research, consisting of the development and validation steps. The study concludes as follows. (1) the learning through partnerships having been conducted in all vocational high schools were industrial practice and vocational practice examination. (2) the constraints of learning through partnerships were mainly the far distance and the industry schedules that did not always match with the school’s. (3) the model development could be done by improving the learning quality by industrial practices in the private companies and with adding the learning model by industry visits, guest teaching, and up-to-date technology training. (4) the implementation of the developed model showed the feasibility and the effectiveness to prepare the students with the competencies required by the world of work. (5) the learning models through partnerships that could be practiced were guest teaching, orientation for industrial practice, industrial practices, students’ industry visits, up-to-date technology training, and vocational practice examination.

Abstract:
Abstract Ernő Foerk’s most well-known work in architectural circles is certainly the volume published in the reprint edition, which collects the material of the building surveys conducted by the students of the Hungarian Royal Public Higher Architectural Industrial School between 1912-1942. The introduction to each volume shows that he considered to document the buildings as the main task of the surveys - besides their role in education - and thus to serve the Hungarian culture. Architectural surveying is still one of the most important starting points for monument reconditioning. Ideally, the process of monument reconditioning consists of the following steps: Scientific Research - Pre-planning Technical Studies – Compilation of a Planning Program and Planning - Professional Authority Control (getting of building permission) – Building Construction Work and (Fine Art) Restoration - Maintenance. This paper presents the essential role of surveying in this process.

Abstract:
Photogrammetry is the science of acquiring and interpreting three-dimensional data of physical objects by measuring and analyzing their images on photographic plates. The development of this technology since the mid-seventies has increased its credibility for application to industrial and shipbuilding use. Analytical photogrammetry is now routinely employed in shipbuilding for tasks as diverse as predicting the fit-up of structural steel assemblies prior to their joining, verifying the circularity of submarine hulls, and checking the alignment of catapult trough components on aircraft carriers. The authors address the practical applications of photogrammetric technology, and identify the reliability, versatility, and productivity of photogrammetric surveying when applied to shipbuilding.

As the global paradigm became an accepted reality, the local dimension has gained particular interest as an object of analysis. This is because key factors of global competitiveness have become deeply rooted at a local level. In this context, clusters, as geographical and socio-relational entities with a specific evolutionary path, institutional embeddedness and local knowledge dynamics, have become crucial elements in regional development, assuming a significant role in public policies. Despite its growing importance, the concept of cluster has been subject to a rather discretionary use in terms of interpretation and meaning. Since the multiplicity of definitions has flourished with the historical evolution of the cluster concept, it became necessary to find a way to organize the existing literature, in an attempt to overcome this multitude of notions and meanings. This dissertation aims to systematize the existing corpus of theoretical approaches and empirical studies on clusters by carrying out a thorough, qualitative survey of the cluster literature, complemented with a comprehensive bibliometric account, based on articles published in journals indexed in the Econlit and EBSCO bibliographic databases, from 1962 to 2007. The main outcomes of this research show that besides their importance in academic fields, the role of clusters has also been widely acknowledged in political spheres. Along with an increasing interest in the `local dimension, an emergent corpus of literature on global networks and clusters has also arisen. Moreover, behind the recent boom in the cluster literature is the influence of the prominent themes `local networks and social approaches and `knowledge-based theories . Studies on `regional and national innovation systems and `institutional approaches (mostly concerned with enrooted local cultures, governance and customs) have been achieving a particular importance since the 1990s. This clearly reflects the most recent trends in the cluster literature, which focus particularly on `systemic and `institutional factors. Finally, despite the positive correlation between the `quality of journals and related formal research, the evolution of the literature on clusters continues to be mostly appreciative-led.

Abstract:
Augmented Reality (AR) is a powerful tool for the visualisation of, and interaction with, digital information, and has been successfully deployed in a number of consumer applications. Despite this, AR has had limited success in industrial applications as the combined precision, accuracy, scalability and robustness of the systems are not up to industry standards. With these characteristics in mind, we present a concept Industrial AR (IAR) framework for use in outdoor environments. Within this concept IAR framework, we focus on the improving the precision and accuracy of consumer level devices by focusing on the issue of localisation, utilising LiDAR based point clouds generated as part of normal surveying and engineering workflow. We evaluate key design points to optimise the localisation solution, including the impact of increased field of view on feature matching performance, the filtering of feature matches between real imagery and an observed point cloud, and how pose can be estimated from 2D to 3D point correspondences. The overall accuracy of this localisation algorithm with respect to ground-truth observations is determined, with unfiltered results indicating an on par horizontal accuracy and significantly improved vertical accuracy with best-case consumer GNSS solutions. When additional filtering is applied, results of localisation show a higher accuracy than best-case consumer GNSS.

Abstract:
Bibliography: pages 51-53.
This thesis reports on the design, development and testing of a semi-automated system to aid in the mapping of the interior of industrial plants. The system makes use of digital photogrammetry to assist an operator in locating and identifying components of the plants. All of the important photogrammetric theory is discussed in the text, and explained in detail in the appendices. Specifically, this system implements various algorithms used for camera calibration, object point intersection, and a method combining the two techniques. Considerable use is made of the iterative least squares method, which is the basis of many of the algorithms employed in this work. Image processing algorithms are implemented to enhance the digital images, and to ease the identification of objects in the images, and these are fully explained in the text. Adaptive least squares image matching is a method of matching corresponding points in different images and is used to ensure correspondence between points identified by the system operator. A weighted centre of gravity method is used to find the centre of target areas, and an algorithm is implemented to determine the radius, centre and direction of a pipe passing through a number of points. Various aspects of the system design are discussed and explained. In particular the requirements in terms of hardware and software are presented. In addition, the choices of the operating system and of the compiler are justified. Potential problems with the system, and possible enhancements of it are also described. Tests were performed to verify the correct operation of all of the algorithms used in the calibration of the cameras. Together with the point intersection routines, these tests calculated the position of various control points, the correct coordinates of which were previously known. The calculated point positions are compared to the known coordinates of the points to determine the accuracy of the various algorithms. Further tests were conducted to demonstrate and verify the ability of the system to measure distance in three dimensions. These tests illustrate that the accuracy achievable is approximately 0.053 of the total distance measured for an object occupying 803 of the width of the image. The system improves considerably on the method presently used in South Africa and in many industries worldwide which rely on analytical photogrammetry for the determination of object point locations. While the system suffers from reduced accuracy as a result of the use of digital cameras, this problem will become less important as technology and digital camera resolution improve. Possible enhancements include the use of more numerically efficient algorithms, and the introduction of techniques that would partially automate the identification of control points and pipes.

Abstract:
Despite all technical enhancements in the past modern electronic tacheometers do not differ significantly to their analogue predecessors. All have in common that aiming around the nadir is not possible. This means that points situated in the zenith angle region between ca. 170 to 230 gon cannot be measured directly. Therefore the subject of the present work was the development of a system that makes measurements in the zenith angle region between 170 and 230 gon possible. The concept is based upon the suspended theodolite which is known in mine-surveying. To carry out measurements in the region of the nadir a total station is mounted in a hanging position similar to a suspended theodolite. However the function of the tilt compensator which is used for levelling of the instrument is not supported in this position. Hence inclination is monitored externally. For this purpose the tacheometer is connected to a clinometer by an appropriate suspension arrangement. The combination of a tacheometer mounted in a suspended position and an external clinometer is called suspended tacheometer. Combining the system with an external clinometer a marginal variation occurs between the vertical axis of the tacheometer and the plummet axis of the clinometer due to production conditions. To quantify this variation an appropriate method was developed and its accuracy tested. Measurements conducted by the tacheometer are influenced by the variations of the instrument and must therefore be adjusted. Moreover these measurements must be adjusted by the inclination detected by the external clinometer. The axis variations of the tacheometer must be determined in suspended position. It cannot be generally presumed that these measurements comply with the ones determined in upright position. To actuate the suspended tacheometer a software was developed. This software also offers integrated functions for calibration of the sensors, analysis and adjustment of the measurements and their storage and processing as well as export of data. A combination of the suspended tacheometer with an ocular camera makes automatic target detection and tracking of non-cooperative signals possible also when measuring near the region of the nadir. To realize an autofocus the suspended tacheometer was combined with a stepper motor which moves the focus lens. Based on the image contrast an autofocus function was developed. The calibration of the ocular camera is based on modelling the mapping process by linear functions. Here the dependency of calibration values on the position of the focus lens (position of the stepping motor) was demonstrated. Image processing algorithms used for optical target detection can be divided into manual target detection in the image, measurement of point-shaped patterns by edge detection and ellipse adjustment and image allocation operations (Least squares matching). To determine the efficiency of the suspended tacheometer as well as to test the performance of the calibration several accuracy tests were performed. Also the suspended tacheometer was successfully deployed in industrial surveying. An automatic calibration routine without participation of a user was developed. The achieved accuracies of the system correspond with the accuracies of the inserted tacheometer

Abstract:
Kenora, Ontario is a city with a strong industrial identity, linked specifically to forestry. Historically sawmills were situated on waterfront properties for purposes of harnessing energy and transporting logs. As technology has evolved, the proximity to water is no longer integral and industry has become less centralized in the city. This practicum explores the implications of the loss of an industrial presence, and the impact of industrial disturbance in both the urban fabric as well as the surrounding region. A design proposal for a specific site, that has been home to a sawmill for over a century, reacts to the research through the design of a large scale public landscape intended to remediate the post industrial conditions and take advantage of the strong historical past.

Abstract:
AbstractAwareness that AI-based technologies have far outpaced the existing regulatory frameworks have raised challenging questions about how to set limits on the most dangerous developments (lethal autonomous weapons or surveillance bots, for instance). Under the assumption that the robotics industry cannot be relied on to regulate itself, calls for government intervention within the regulatory space—national and international—have multiplied. The various approaches to regulating AI fall into two main categories. A sectoral approach looks to identify the societal risks posed by individual technologies, so that preventive or mitigating strategies can be implemented, on the assumption that the rules applicable to AI, in say the financial industry, would be very different from those relevant to heath care providers. A cross-sectoral approach, by contrast, involves the formulation of rules (whether norms adopted by industrial consensus or laws set down by governmental authority) that, as the name implies, would have application to AI-based technologies in their generality. After surveying some domestic and international initiatives that typify the two approaches, the chapter concludes with a list of 15 recommendations to guide reflection on the promotion of societally beneficial AI.

Abstract:
This chapter presents an overview of 3 graphical tools supporting soundscape assessment in different settings, indoors and outdoors. These research prototypes support the spatial organization of the perceptual information available to the participants and are designed based on surveying techniques used in architectural training to create a foundation for acoustic design education in architecture schools. This chapter reports the contexts of the focus groups investigations, presenting advantages and drawbacks related to their use. It has been found that participants often added explanatory verbal data and arrows to the provided diagrams. The diagrams and their use have been interpreted with the support of the qualitative data captured along the studies through thematic analysis. Finally, paper prototypes are useful for educational approaches, but future more comprehensive studies will require integrating these tools in existing or yet-to-be-designed systematic frameworks for soundscape analysis and design.

Abstract:
The Real Estate Service is one of the most profitable businesses in the world. It is this fact that attracts many people to try their hand at this area. Obviously it is rather complex subject to deal with. There is a number of disciplines to be studied to provide efficient development. These are some of them: Architecture, Engineering, Public Relations, Industrial Relations, Property Finance, Property Law, Construction, Accountancy, General Management, Sales and Marketing, Communications, Town Planning, Valuation, Quantity Surveying, Land Surveying, etc. In this chapter the authors suggest a way to overcome the modern challenges in the service of real estate by means of the academic master's program developed by the Russian State University for Tourism and Service. The Master's Program is international and is based on E-Learning Systems. It also uses the author's and by Prof. Vardan Mkrttchian (Mkrttchian, 2011, 2012, 2015) techniques, software and technology of Estimation and Control in Sliding Mode.
