Dubresson, Alain. "Industrialisation et urbanisation en Côte-d'Ivoire : contribution géographique à l'étude de l'accumulation urbaine." Paris 10, 1988. http://www.theses.fr/1988PA100011.
Full textSince the fifties, Ivory Coast is distinguished by high rhythms of industrialization and urbanization. How does this concomitance enter the national space? In what way do the actors and mechanisms of urbanization report about factories localization in the cities or at their close proximity and how to explain the lacks of balance of the industrial core distribution? In what way does industrialization participate to the to-day’s urban growth? To answer these questions three axes of research around which the book is articulated have been privileged. In the first one the accent is put to urban and industrial spatial solidarities and also to the foundations and stakes of the several scales industrial localizations inside the Abidjan city and inside the inland cities. The second one approaches the links between industrial employment, consecutive population growth and workers coming to cities. In the third on are examined the articulations between manufacturing activities and other urban activities

Full textTo produce a big number of accommodations destined mostly for a big number seems to be a means to offer the urban populations of the countries in development, habitations that actually present a minimum level of equipment, of size and comfort. Since the Ivorian government is no more capable because of the financial difficulties to assure the role of the first building productor that its played until a recent period, we have decided to examine the conditions in which this production could be assured on the locale basis by the communes

Full textSince the end of the eighties, plantation economy based on coffee and cocoa is facing in Côte d’Ivoire a deep crisis. The imminent disappearance of last forest masses and the reduction of access to labour force witch is linked to it, are indeed threatening reproduction within the system. What possible solutions are there today? Are we seeing the beginning of intensification work or technology or are we seeing a slow disappearance of the system through emigration and labour forces? How does one explain the current changes? To follow and fully understand the evolution of this agricultural system of production, our research work is based on the following hypothesis: migrants are more concerned with the survival of their domestic group and the social link with their community of origin than with safeguarding their space of production. Migration, in the sense that it constitutes the instrument of this desire of social reproduction, naturally serves as the "revealing" factor and basis for "analysis" of the economic system based on coffee and cocoa. Through this migration factor, we aim at demonstrating how the logic of family and community reproduction command the structuring and de-structuring of the plantation economy

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to prove the importance of public policies and therefore, of government, in the expansion and the crisis of the ivorian coffee sector since the inter-war period untill nowadays. The spreading of the coffee planting economy from 1933 to 1965 is indeblet to the french preferential system for its beneficial effects on the exchange of colonial coffees. The system which is made up by the metropolitan government of france rests on the custom duties, import quotas, marketing boards and farming supports funds. From the local viewpoint, the policies affecting access to producing factors, the abolition of the hard labor regime, the supports brought by the colonial administration to coffee plantation owners and trading houses, beyond their discriminatory and constraining characters, constitue the basic elements f the expansion. During the twenty-five years after the broken up of the french preferential system, expansion in the ivorian coffee sector results from the preferential organization of the local market (oligopolistic regimes of industrial and export activities, price fixing tables, taking charge of external costs. . . ) by the caisse de stabilisation, the stable farm princing policies and the liberal access to producing factors. The ivorian government's interventions in the sphere of production through the system of research and popularization inherited from the colonial period remain derise

Full textThe objective of this thesis was to justify the performance of the ivorian agricultural industry (ag-industry) through out its market structure. The thesis used traditional and modern theory of industrial organization and linked them to ag-industry. The thesis shows that the ivorian ag-industry faces a quite paradoxal situation as far as economic efficiency is concerned this is due to the high level of protection and concentration. In other words, the agricultural and food sector did not benefit from profits earned from the existing market structure. Government intervention in all ag-industrial activities has created non-rational practices from an economic standpoint. This situation is due in part to community constraints which, in africa, are ranked number one priority in firm management
Konate, Mathy. "La mise en place d'une cellule d'Intelligence Économique en Côte d'Ivoire : cas du secteur touristique." Thesis, Brest, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015BRES0041.
Full textThis thesis focuses on the establishment of an economic Intelligence in Côte d'Ivoire given cell specificities cultural and organizational of this country, particularly with regard to information. It is particularly interested in the sector of the tourism industry in Côte d'Ivoire. Business Intelligence is today part integral of the world economy based on the knowledge economy, it is the central link in the chain information and enables organizations to identify growth opportunities while protecting any threats. The concept, born within large groups of developed countries, often cannot be applied as to small and medium-sized organizations and even less to those of the countries of the third world. Côte d'Ivoire struggling to get out of the crisis and important organizational and structural disorders that undermine its economy, has difficulties to find its place in this 'new' collective culture of the information era. Our approach will be based on prior interviews to any analysis, to establish a model meso economic IE cell viable in Côte d'Ivoire. On a methodological level, this thesis is structured after a review of the literature, to the selection of a sample of 10 companies of the Ivorian tourism industry in a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews. It breaks down into six chapters, offering the go from the general to the particular. These work highlighted the expectations and needs of the actors in a given area in Business Intelligence and lead to a series of actions to achieve for the practice of Business Intelligence in the Ivorian context, within the chosen activity. In replicative logic, this implementation plan can be applied to all the sectors on the basis of the expectations of the actors

Full textA strong local pharmaceutical industry is one of the foundations of an effective health system. The aim of this work was to contribute to the optimization of the legal framework for the development of the pharmaceutical industry. Starting from a description of the legislative and regulatory texts applicable to the pharmaceutical industry in Côte d'Ivoire, we have researched and analyzed the factors that condition the development of this sector of activity and finally formulated axes of optimization. The Ivorian legal corpus on the pharmaceutical industry in force defines an organized normative, institutional and professional framework. The opening of the capital to the non-pharmacists by the legislation of 2015 is to be welcomed. However, genuine promotion measures for the establishment of pharmaceutical laboratories and some protection of the market should be adopted to support the first steps of development of the sector. The political will and ambition of the players in the sector are paramount. Coordination of legal mechanisms through an attractive policy will make it possible to meet the challenge of pharmaceutical industrialization

Full textThe surplus crisis on the world cocoa market at the end of the 80's is part of a usual surplus-deficy cycle which the political reglation attemps on the international scene did not succeed to jugulate. The world market situation remains largely submitted to the supply dynamics. In the long term, there is no imbalance in the world cocoa market. However, in the short and medium term, the supply is the main factor of both market disturbance and market adjustment. What are the determinants of cocoa supply dynamics? The market price is the leading factor of cocoa production growth. Natural conditions have a double impact: in the long term, they determine the location of production areas and the production cycle; in the short term, climate, pest and disease hazards cause fluctuations on the market. These factors do not have a homogenous effect on cocoa supply in major producing countries and one can identify delayed entries in the market, differences in the dynamics of the cocoa boom and long term production, heterogeneity in the integration of cocoa industry in the national economy. This research is based on a through investigation of the world market mechanisms, a comparative study of cocoa dynamics in Malaysia and Cote d'Ivoire and an in-depth reflection on the different theoretical paradigms

Full textA remarkable increase of the maize in cote d'ivoire was observed during the 1970's and 1980's, due to the urban development and the creation of an animal feeds industry. The analysis fo the supply response demonstrate the capacity of the "traditionnal" agents - producers and traders - to spontaneously adjust to the market. The emergence of an industrial demand does not result in the setting of supply channels based on specific production and distribution structures. This observation does not fit with dualist models which are generally proposed by the usual commodity approach

Full textThe first reference to an industry in Ivory Coast go back to the XVIIth century, and concern the export of the palm oil produced by aboriginal populations, whereas the colonial history of Ivory Coast begins in 1893 and ends in 1960. Evoke an industry in Ivory Coast with regard to a chronological frame whick breaks the colonial period arouse questions, in the same line, to present a post-colonial industry and an industrial heritage would not know a better appreciation without answers about these questions. The industrial fact ensues from an antagonism between technology introduced by Europeans (colonists at first, cooperating then and finally partner in the development) and local practices of populations living in the forest area of Ivory Coast. Indeed, this particular space was at the origin of the shock of knowledges and know-how between two peoples, two cultures and two approaches in the production. School introduced in the territory met more or less important success because of leading transitions which contribute to build branches of industry based on sociocultural and technical transformations, certainly rough at first, but whose appropriation rise to a new shape of industry. Industrial heritage is a perfect testimony and its study a new contribution to the comprehension of this territory

Full textThis thesis deals with the branch of textile activity in the Ivory Coast during the post-colonial period (1960-1990). The study of different channels (from production to marketing) enables us to pin-point a series of characteristics within this branch of activity. Apart from the procedures of the second phase and those of import, export and distribution, which are carried out by professionally trained people, the other areas are run by untrained people who have learned their skill on the job. There are very few inhabitants of the Ivory Coast and very little capital within the textile branch. The textile industry in the Ivory Coast manufactures expensive products which are not competitive in relation to those of their rivals. It is competed with on the home ground and has reached its highest level with the implementation of the "plan d'ajustement structural" of the mundial banc. It's the fraud with its corollary which causes enormous difficulties for the textile industry in the Ivory Coast. In conclusion, one can say that the Ivory Coast clothing textile industry is disappearing and if the state wishes to save it, they must react now

Full textThis work addresses, in the light of the case of Market for African Performing Arts (MASA), the question of media issues in the promotion of cultural policies of the continent. It follows from the observation that the market for cultural products is increasingly confronted with profound changes: extension of the provision of recreation are now perceived as cultural activities among others (sport , tourism, etc. . ) development of cultural industries that contribute to increased production and dissemination of new series in cultural property; dazzling breakthrough strategies for corporate communication, marketing and advertising that determine, in part, the success or failure of a cultural project. Indeed, the observation of crisis in the dissemination, promotion and circulation of African artists and their works has prompted the creation of a market with the intention to serve as spearhead for operators. At its inception, MASA has actually met their expectations. Through its market size, festival or professional meetings, the event has taken on important issues. First, contribute to the preservation of cultural diversity, facing the threat of globalization seen as a possible factor in the standardization of cultures. Then economic, to the extent that artists could now offer their works to buyers from various backgrounds. After six editions, it seems appropriate to develop a factual record of this market to determine what are its policies for the promotion and repositioning. The key assumption made here is based on the realities of the terrain and elements, from questioning established themselves on facts, findings and statements of resource people. Ranging from a qualitative study aims to better understand the reasons which tests MASA faced in recent years in achieving its missions. The analysis of its policy to promote and fits into a comprehensive paradigm and a logic of construction, from an inductive reasoning. Theories of information science and communication convened to grasp this reality are: cybernetics and the two step flow of communication. This theoretical framework allows, ultimately, to demonstrate that the effectiveness and relevance of the policy of promoting MASA based in part on the establishment of an egalitarian

Full textPeri-urban breeding is a hot topic in a world increasingly characterized by urban growth. However, the link between city and breeding in the large agglomerations of West Africa remains less studied under the prism of metropolisation. Knowing that moderns poultry and pig productions have flourished in Abidjan since the mid-1970s without officially dedicated space, this thesis questions the influence of metropolisation on their territorialization on the Ivorian economic capital periphery. In a cross-section of urban and rural geography, our field surveys allowed us to grasp, on the one hand, a tendency to relocate « step by step » at the time of the old buds of Abidjan's spatial expansion. On the other hand, we see the creation of new farms or a renewed dynamics of poultry farms located farther from the metropolis, notably in Agnibilékrou, Assinie, Jacqueville or Agboville. While the structural land routes and the financial possibilities of industrialists reorganize the poultry production area, things are lesser for pig farms. Thus, the variability of responses at the producer level alone would tend to stabilize with clearer regional agro-industrial development
