AbstractBased on the fast spectral approximation to the Boltzmann collision operator, we present an accurate and efficient deterministic numerical method for solving the Boltzmann equation. First, the linearized Boltzmann equation is solved for Poiseuille and thermal creep flows, where the influence of different molecular models on the mass and heat flow rates is assessed, and the Onsager–Casimir relation at the microscopic level for large Knudsen numbers is demonstrated. Recent experimental measurements of mass flow rates along a rectangular tube with large aspect ratio are compared with nume

This paper presents a methodology for aerodynamic optimization of UAV with VTOL capabilities. Aircrafts such as these usually fly at low speeds and due to that low Reynolds numbers are to be expected. The friction drag is highly dependent on the quality of the production process so unless special measures are undertaken, high friction drag coefficients could drastically influence overall performance of the aircraft. Changes of the geometrical parameters influence not only the induced drag of the wing, but also the distribution of the base drag due to sensitivity to changes of the Reynolds numb

An important feature of the service process is the degree of customer influence on the service process. A characteristic of service quality evaluation is that it consists of both tangible and intangible factors. In this paper the customers' subjective opinions and the weights of factors are described by linguistic labels which can be expressed in trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. After aggregating these linguistic labels, a linguistic decision–making method is proposed to evaluate the servic

Even for few measured data, the analysis results can be also obtained by the inverse analysis method. And the analysis results can be applied to appraise the uncertainty in interval. Based on parameter perturbation, the reversible inverse analysis model is proposed for linear-elastic problems. A numerical example is given to illustrate the validity of the present method.
