Abstract:
Currently at Bombardier Aerospace, aeroelastic analyses are performed using the Doublet Lattice Method (DLM) incorporated in the NASTRAN solver. This method proves to be very reliable and fast in preliminary design stages where wind tunnel experimental results are often not available. Unfortunately, the geometric simplifications and limitations of the DLM, based on the lifting surfaces theory, reduce the ability of this method to give reliable results for all flow conditions, particularly in transonic flow. Therefore, a new method has been developed involving aerodynamic data from high-fidelit

Flutter, or the dynamic instability of an aircraft wing due to aerodynamic loads, must be considered when designing an aircraft. For this reason work has been done to improve a method developed at Bombardier Aerospace to analyze the dynamic aeroelastic response of aircraft. This method replaces original Doublet Lattice Method (DLM) aerodynamic data with that from high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes. The new aerodynamic loads are transmitted to the NASTRAN aeroelastic module through improved Aerodynamic Influence Coefficients (AIC). Previously this high-fidelity data was sole

Abstract:
This thesis draws a distinction between the nature of intonation and tuning in tonal and atonal music. I describe the musical aesthetic of the Second Viennese School as conditioned by and born out of equal temperament. In contrast, tonal music often employs intonation that varies from equal temperament significantly. These contrasting notions are explored through an examination of two historically opposed ideologies that concern consonance and dissonance. This thesis suggests that the aesthetic evaluation of twelve-tone atonal music may be informed by its theoretical limitation to the equally

Little is known about the effects of contralateral acoustic stimulation on suppression tuning curves (STCs). Studies have examined the effect, but may have been confounded by activation of the acoustic reflex and the possibility of transcranial crossover of the contralateral signal. This study compared the sharpness (Q10 of STCs of SOAEs with and without contralateral stimulation that employed wideband noise. The intensity of the contralateral noise was well below the acoustic reflex threshold. The STCs of four female subjects were examined. The results revealed no change in the sharpness (Q10

Cracks can occur due to temperature induced movements during the hardening phase of concrete. Thermal cracks are not decisive for the load-bearing capacity but cause costs for repair and may reduce the life of the structure. The risk of cracking can be judged through safety values, (partial coefficients) given in building codes. In the thesis, partial coefficients for thermal cracking problems are determined with a probabilistic model. One crucial parameter influencing the risk of cracking is the restraint. In the report, methods are derived and presented for the determination of the restraint

Abstract:
In this thesis, we are interested in damped wave models with time-dependent propagation speed and time-dependent damping term both having a time-dependent oscillation term. The main goal of this thesis is to understand the influence of strong time-dependent oscillations on Sobolev solutions to the linear models and consequently, to the semilinear models. Especially, due to the deteriorating influence of oscillations on solutions, a stabilization condition and higher-order regularity of the time-dependent coefficients may compensate 'bad behaviors' arising from oscillations.:1.
