Moutari, Mahaman Sabo. "Les emprunts arabes en hausa dans l'oeuvre poétique de Nana Asma'u (1792-1864) : étude linguistique et statistique." Thesis, Bordeaux 3, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016BOR30026/document.
Full textThe incursion of Islam in Sub-Saharan Africa from the 19th Century was operated through trans-Saharan commerce between the peoples of North Africa and those of the Sahel. This contact, maintained by the commercial caravans of these two peoples engendered the progressive islamisation of the Hausa-speaking populations. Under the influence of Arabic, several terms were introduced into Hausa lexicon. This Islamic effect comes with a revolution in the production of Arabic-Ajami literature. Thanks to the adaptation of Ajami writing, Nana Asma’u, a renowned polyglot, wrote several poetic works in the 18th Century, most of which are in the Hausa, Fulfulde and Arabic languages. On the basis of these observations, this thesis proposes to analyse the borrowed Arabic lexicon in the poetic works of the author, and their integration into the Hausa language. From the methodological perspective, our research work relies on a combination of two methods: linguistic and statistical; which enable us to analyse all the phenomena relating to linguistic and cultural hybridization in the works of Nana Asma’u. Our corpus is made up of poetic works that we have first of all lemmatized using statistical calculations with the help of Excel software. The principal results, obtained in the form graphs, indicate a frequency of very high usage of words borrowed from Arabic. The association of the linguistic and computer analyses enabled us to confirm, in a formal and impartial manner, that most of the frequent borrowings fall under religious domains, and as such linked to situational vocabulary
Crouzet, Yvan. "Les Hausa de Garoua (Nord-Cameroun) : identité et intégration d'une communauté immigrée." Paris, INALCO, 1999. http://www.theses.fr/1999INAL0016.
Full textThe aim of this thesis is to determine the constituent elements of the collective identity of the Hausa tradesmen and craftsmen settled in the Peul Kingdom of Garoua (Northern Cameroon), and also to determine the factors which have favoured, or on the contrary hindered, the integration of this community into the Garoua and "Grand-Nord" society, moreover into the Cameroonian nation. The study of the identity of the Hausa of Garoua requires the prior study of the Hausa people's identity, through its origins, heterogeneous, its founding myth, through to the social, political and economic organisation of the "Hausa land". The specific identity of the Hausa of Garoua and Northern Cameroon and consequently to their membership of a huge diaspora. The second part is devoted to the study of socio-cultural components of the Hausa identity, as revealed by the fieldwork, specially through the examination of the main patterns and poles of socialisation : the family, the professional guilds and the Muslim community. The last part opens with the presentation of the two geo-socio--politics spaces : Garoua and the "Grand-Nord" on the one hand, the Cameroonian nation on the other hand, within which the Huasa community had to become integrated. An integration that was successful in the first space, although within the limits set by the Peul aristocracy ; but difficult in the second space because of, at once, the state's partiality and the Hausa's reticence facing modernity values

Full textThis study focuses on a frequent, ordinary activity of every day life : judging personality. More precisely, it examines how individuals see themselves as capable of making a judgment about another person based on a range of different information, but relating equally to their assessment of certain factors conditioning that judgment. This thesis seeks to show how this judgmentis influences by a particular positional but personal variable : expertise. The first chapter is a general review of the question of making judgments about personality ; : it covers classical approaches relating to the structure and content of descripion and considers the emergence of impressions from two points of view -the mental processes of individual perception, and the influence of the situation on these processes. The second chapter develops the model of social " judgeability " based on studies confirming the validity of this theory. " Judgeability " is a concept which enables us to understand how judgments are regulated by the information and meta-information indicators which the individual perceives. The third chapter develops a psycho-social model of met-cognition, showing the iumportance of two factors : the context, and the degree of implication of the indifidual in the regulatory processes of judging. Chapter four details one particular form of such insertion : expertise. This is considered as a met-cognitive activity with the capacity to influence social judgeability. Chapers five and six describe research which shows how this influences can be identified. Chapter five demonstrates that the area of competence and the level of competence are both influences on judgeability. Chapter six indicates that the judge's belief in his or her own expertise has a greater influence on social judgeability that the actual level of expertise. The discussion concludes by offering a more general model of the " judgment contract " conceived here as a particular case of a communication contract

Full textThe inhibitor of apoptosis protein cIAP1 (cellular inhibitor of apoptosis protein-1) from the IAP family (Inhibitor of Apoptosis Protein) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase that displays oncogenic properties. Our team is interested in the mecanisms that allow macrophagic differentiation from monocytes. cIAP1 is relocalised from the nucleus to the cytoplasm during the differentiation of many kind of cellular models (macrophages, dendritic cells, colon epithelial cells, hematopoietic stem cells, cardiomyocytes). The well-known functions of cIAP1 are associated with its cytoplasmic localisation, where it regulates the TNFα receptors and NF-κB signalling pathways. During macrophage differentiation, we show that cIAP1, once it is in cytoplasm, induces TRAF-2 degradation, a molecular adaptator of the TNFα receptors family and NF-κB signalling pathways. This degradation blocks the canonical pathway of NF-κB and is essential for the terminal differentiation into macrophages that needs a transitory activation of this pathway. However, cIAP1 is mainly expressed in the nucleus on many cell types which is not in accordance with its cell signalling activity. My objective was to investigate the nuclear function of cIAP1 in proliferative cells or during macrophage differentiation. My work identifies a function of cIAP1 in proliferation regulation. cIAP1 interacts with E2F1 transcription factor and favors its recruitment on Cyclins E and A promoters, both involved in G1/S and G2 phases of the cell cycle, which leads to high level of transcript and protein expression of these two targets. It seems that cIAP1 regulates the cellular proliferation and is important for the balance between proliferation and differentiation, two mechanisms tightly connected in cells

Full textThe aim of this study is propose a typology of predicates of motion in Hungarian. The typology reflects a simple objective perception of motion and space. The analysis uses the theory of object classes, which we applied to Hungarian, The predicates of motion correspond to verb predicates, noun predicates and to predicate adjectives. Our classification is based on semantic properties such as directionality, mood, destination, goal, place and the aspectual properties. These semantic properties are completed by morpho-syntactic properties needed for natural language processing. The contrastive component of our study has made it possible to propose a better description of the classes of predicates in Hungarian and to bring out the morpho-syntactic and combinatory differences specific to both languages in the expression of motion, such as the role of verb prefixes, locative complements, and to underline the importance of noun predicates

Full textThe more generalized use of wood for building raises concern for fire safety. The current standards require the structure stability for a minimum time to ensure the building evacuation and the fire fight. Considering that the fire endurance of wood is well-known, the stability requirement is mainly reduced to the understanding of the behaviour of wood joints on fire. The aim of this work is to study the behaviour of single-dowel timber joints and it is divided into three parts. The first part is a study of the influence of temperature on the modulus of elasticity and on the embedding strength in a range between 20 and 300 °C. In the second part the wood charring and the influence of a metallic dowel embedded in wood, is studied. In the third part, the fire behaviour of single-dowel wood joints is tackled. The first two studies have provided mechanical and thermal data to allow the development of a model to simulate the joint behaviour and its fire endurance before fracture

Full textThe prevalence of the food allergy is in constant increase. At the same time food consumptions and food they even evolve. The food, more and more subjected to the industrial treatments, can present a modified allergenicity. The aim of this thesis will be to estimate the influence of the various industrial processes on the immunoreactivity of modified food proteins. The various studies presented in the work will approach the effect of the texturisation on proteins of soy or the extrusion on flaxseed proteins (heat treatment), the effect of the incorporation of new ingredients in the modern food (inuline, flaxseed). The allergenicity of recombinant proteins (biotechnological process) will be approached through two studies: the one will propose peanut recombinant proteins as a diagnostic tool, in particular for the basophil activation test (BAT); other one will try to demonstrate the allergenic harmlessness of a recombinant human lysozyme, which will be used in human food. The study of these allergenic properties will be realized by the in vivo tests (prick tests) and by the in vitro tests (IgEs). Studies by immunoblot and by infrared spectrometry will allow identifying modified proteins. Finally cellular tests (BAT) will be also performed

Full textSongbird presence is often associated with the area of habitat in the surrounding landscape. However, the extent of landscape for which habitat area is assessed is generally unknown. Studies have already demonstrated that some species are associated with the amount of habitat at the regional scale and that for certain species, measures of area-sensitivity vary depending on the spatial scale used. My goal was to demonstrate the influence of spatial scale on apparent area-sensitivity of forest songbirds. I tested the response of forest songbirds to habitat area measured inside nine radii from 100 m to 24 km, based on Ontario’s Forest Bird Monitoring Program, a long-term project initiated in 1987 by the Canadian Wildlife Service. Songbird occurrence was obtained from point counts distributed across southern and northwestern Ontario. Area of coniferous, deciduous and mixed forest was derived from landsat-TM satellite imagery. I used species-specific measures of habitat area to account for differences in preferred forest stand types among species. Forty-nine of the 52 species studied were area-sensitive for at least one radius. For most species, area-sensitivity varied depending on the extent of landscape considered. The radius at which area-sensitivity was strongest also varied greatly among species, making generalizations across species difficult. As a result, interspecific comparisons of area-sensitivity were strongly dependent on the choice of spatial extent. This study shows that the amount of habitat should be measured not only at the local and landscape scale, but also at the regional scale before attempting to draw conclusions on the association between a species’ presence and the area of habitat.

Full textWhen two objects are in contact, an adhesion experiment is carried out if they are separated and a friction experience if one object slides on the other. A fundamental parameter which controls the adhesion and friction forces is the real area of contact between the surfaces which is largely determined by the surface roughness. To better understand the role of roughness, adhesion and friction experiments were performed with spheres of PDMS elastomer and textured surfaces (hard or soft). The latter’s roughness is modeled by an hexagonal network of cylindrical pillars with micrometrical dimensions and spacing. In adhesion experiments, a JKR set up (for Johnson, Kendall and Roberts) was used to observe the contact between an elastic sphere and a textured surface while controlling the force between the surfaces. At low normal force, the sphere remains at the top of the pillars and the contact is called "top". When the force between the surfaces increases, a full area of contact, where pillars are collapsed ("intimate contact"), appears in the center contact, surrounded by a crown of "top" contact. A model of evolution of this intimate contact which takes into account the adhesion between the pillars and the mechanical properties of surfaces has been achieved. Furthermore, it was possible to measure effective energies of adhesion between the surfaces using a similar analysis to the classical JKR analysis. Studying the evolution of these adhesion energies as a function of the pillars’ surface density below the sphere-plan contact proved to be a challenging task. At last, measurements of the pull off force were realised, corroborating the important role of the nature of contact on the evolution of effectif energies of adhesion. For friction experiments, a tribometer developed in the laboratory was used to measure the dynamic frictional force. During these experiments, the two kinds of contact previously reported were observed. When the contact remains "top", it is natural to introduce a friction stress equal to the friction force divided by the real area of contact. It has been shown that friction stress increases on textured surfaces (relative to the smooth case) and that this increase depends in a complex manner on the geometry of the pillars. Moreover, it has been shown that for small curvature radii of the friction spheres, the friction stress is no longer independent of the real area of contact. Finally, we have shown that the friction stress in the zone of intimate contact is the same as on smooth surfaces. The experimental results obtained in this thesis will serve to validate future numerical models

Full textThe purpose of this thesis was to study the influence of the environment on the evolution of baculovirus genomes. We first genetically characterised the AcMNPV natural population by high-throughput sequencing and established the susceptibility of 4 hosts to the virus by bioassays. Then, the AcMNPV natural population was subjected to experimental evolution on the 4 host species for 10 cycles. The 10th generation of the evolved viral lines were then phenotypically and genotypically characterised. This experiment showed a virulence trade-off for each line: to increase their virulence to the host on which they evolved, the lines have lost generalist adaptive potential. Furthermore, intra-population diversity decreased for all the lines regardless of host susceptibility. Lastly, by correlating all these results we found specific genome positions involved in host adaptation

Full textThis thesis is about the influence of aeration on submerged hollow fibre membrane fouling in outside/in filtration. In a first part, yeast filtration (0. 5 g. L-1) is studied in a 100 l tank with a membrane area of 0. 32m2. Two types of filtration experiments were performed: critical condition determination with flux step method and filtration experiment under fouling condition. These experiments were performed without and with aeration with small and spherical cap bubbles. Fouling sensitivity to position and small bubble injection flow rate as well as to frequency and volume of spherical cap was analysed. Filtration experiments involve characterization of filtration efficiency with tight and loose fibres. In a second, part local experimental and numerical studies were performed thanks to the image analysis, P. I. V. Measurements and FLUENT numerical simulations (two-fluid model for small bubbles and V. O. F. Model for spherical cap bubbles). Filtration and hydrodynamics analysis results lead to the determination of mechanisms explaining aeration effect on submerged hollow fibre fouling. This study contributes to better understand the revelant global hydrodynamic parameters in order to control fouling
