Full textSocial media is a big part of today’s society and it may seem as a certainty to constantly be available and online. These social platforms have opened the door for a new kind of marketing strategy, the Influencer Marketing. Through this new marketing communication companies are given the possibility to target a new group of customers through the social media channels of the influencer. By studying previous research of the topic we have identified a gap in the research regarding how the business relationship, within Influencer Marketing, between the involved company and influencer work. This paper’s purpose is therefore to study said relationship from the perspectives of marketing to acknowledge how the two parties work together to maintain and uphold the own and each others image. To gain a depth in our paper and to understand the company’s as well as the influencer’s perspective the empirical material has been gathered through several qualitative semistructured interviews. These interviews have been analysed alongside previous research through a qualitative approach.

Full textWe live in a consumer society where we daily are being exposed for advertising in all its different forms. Companies are constantly striving to find new innovative marketing techniques that will break through the media noise, where Influencer marketing has been identified as one of the most successful marketing strategies of today. Previous research that points to the strategy's success has mostly been done on a younger target group. Thus, we have identified a gap in the literature and intend to investigate the effect of this marketing method on an older generation. The purpose of the study is to investigate what relationship women at the age 50-65 have to Influencer marketing, as well as get an idea of what influences their wish to buy clothes for personal use. A subsidiary aim is also to investigate what personal attributes businesses should look for in an Influencer, for women aged 50-65 to embrace their message. We have used qualitative methods with inductive approach. Mainly semi-structured interviews in the form of focus groups, complemented with the method photo elicitationinterview. The result shows that Influencer marketing on social media is not a successful marketing strategy for this target group. Mainly because the respondents do not use social media to the extent required for this to be a possible marketing method. On the other hand, traditional advertising and people in their surroundings showed to hold great influence when it comes to the choice of clothes they wear. Although, if you choose to use Influencer marketing to target these women, trustworthiness, similarity and charisma are three key personal attributes that the target audience appreciates in a potential Influencer.

Research question: How does different actors view the usage of influencers’ social media channels in digital marketing? Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the usage of influencers and their social media channels in digital marketing. The phenomenon will be studied from the perspective of four different actors; influencer marketing-agencies, companies, influencers and consumers, to be able to examine how to combine the different actors’ views in order to make influencer marketing more effective. We aim to interpret the different actors’ views of influencer marketing to be able to provide implications to companies using or thinking about using influencer marketing and to influencer marketing-agencies that act as intermediaries between companies and influencers. We also aim to provide influencers with implications. Method: This thesis had a qualitatively oriented case study with an inductive approach and an explorative purpose. Data formation consisted of a literature review and an empirical study through semi-structured interviews and focus groups. The empirical data obtained was analyzed through a qualitative data analysis. Results and conclusions: We can conclude that the four actors view influencer marketing as an effective marketing method which is preferred over companies' own marketing. A number of requirements should be taken into consideration when producing influencer marketing-campaigns in order for the messages to reach out to the intended audience. For the messages to be received by the consumers as credible matching must occur between brands and influencers, the cooperation should be genuine and inspiring, the messages should fit into the context in which they are presented and balance should be found between personality and professionalism. Theoretical and practical implications: The theoretical implications of the thesis consists of a revised research model with key stakeholders and relevant social media channels for influencer marketing. The practical implications are made up of a TRIMPP-model in which the concepts of trustworthiness, relevance, inspiration, matching, personality and professionalism are presented as important in the creation of influencer marketing- campaigns. Key words: Influencer marketing, influencers, social media, digital marketing

Full textInfluencer marketing is one of the fastest growing parts of the advertising industry, and with the help of influencer marketing, brands have the opportunity to establish a close relationship with their consumers on Instagram. Today many companies use influencers with a large number of followers to make marketing as effective as possible. To become a successful influencer, it requires the influencer to have a good understanding between what's interesting, relevant and what followers want to see in their Instagram feeds. As there is currently not much research on corporate strategies on how they use influencers in their marketing. There is a gap in research because this is a relatively new way for companies to market their products. There has been little research on influencer marketing strategies from a business perspective. This has been done with observations on selected fashion companies Instagram accounts as well as observations on the various influencers Instagramaccounts with which the respective fashion companies collaborate in their influencer marketing. In addition to this, qualitative, structured interviews were conducted with respondents from Swedish fashion companies regarding the companies' influencer marketing strategies on their respective Instagramaccounts. The study's findings show that fashion companies make some form of strategic choice in their influencer marketing when choosing which influencers they want to collaborate with on Instagram. The strategic choices fashion companies make in their influencer marketing on Instagram include how well the influencer suits the companies' target groups and campaigns. The influencer choice is often based on the size of the influencers, their way of building relationships with their followers and the way they communicate with their followers. The strategic choices companies make when choosing influencers in their influencer marketing are of-ten similar, but depending on which market they targeting, there is greater variation in which influencers they collaborate with on Instagram.

Full textPurpose and research questions The purpose of this study is to clarify and analyse influencers’ role in corporate marketing communications. With this purpose in mind, the following three research questions have been formulated: ❖ What characterizes influencers’ role as marketers? ❖ What does the digitalization mean for companies’ ways of working with their marketing communication? ❖ How has the development of social media affected companies’ use of influencer marketing? Method The essay is designed according to a qualitative research method. The research approach could be considered as abductive, since the research process comprises of an interaction between a deductive and inductive approach. Furthermore, the empirical data consists of seven semi-structured interviews where the respondents are considered experts in the field. Conclusion The study’s results have shown that the digitalization and the development of social media have increased the use of influencers within corporate marketing communications. Thus, influencers have gained a significant role in corporate marketing communication, and the role can be summarized with the following concepts: Conducting a dialogue and sharing the companies’ stories, higher authenticity, longer reach on various platforms, greater impact, niche the company’s marketing and reach younger target groups, disguise marketing, build and be responsible for a corporate brand and at last loss of control.

Full textInfluencer marketing is a growing phenomenon and is becoming more and more common as a marketing tool on social media. After reviewing previous research we discovered that there has not been much research in the past about how influencer marketing differs between different industries. The purpose of this study is to find out what role the concepts of credibility and identity have in the fashion- (hedonism) and the IT-industry (utilitarianism / hedonism) when it comes to the use of influencer marketing, from a societal perspective. The result will contribute to increased understanding of perceived differences between the various industries, which in turn can contribute information to companies classified as hedonistic and utilitarian in their use of influencer marketing. This essay will be written in Swedish and the questions this study examines are: 1. In what way can the fashion and IT industry be linked to hedonistic and utilitarian values? 2. What differences, linked to the concepts of credibility and identity, do consumers perceive that there is between the fashion- and the IT-industry when it comes to the use of influencers on social media? To be able to answer the study's questions, the study started with a so-called pree study. The pree study consisted of two semi-structured interviews, one with an IT company and one with a fashion company. The aim of the pree study was not to carry out a complete qualitative study, instead the purpose of the pree study was to gain an insight into the subject we have chosen to write about and how our representatives of the industries looked at the subject. The purpose of the pree study was also to be able to answer the two research question, together with the answers obtained from the survey. The main focus of this study was a quantitative study with a survey conducted via Facebook, e-mail and sms. The aim of the survey was to capture consumers’ perspectives on influencer marketing on social media linked to perceived differences between the fashion- and IT industry linked to the study's two main concepts of identity and credibility. The result of our study indicate that the fashion industry is perceived to use influencer marketing more often, which can depend on the use of fashion products compared to IT products. The fashion industry is mainly linked to hedonic values while the IT industry is more difficult to define. This may have had a major impact on why the IT industry does not use influencer marketing to the same extent as the fashion industry does, but the study concluded that there is evidence that the IT industry, which has elements of both hedonic and utilitarian values, can also obtain positive effects through the use of influencer marketing. The study indicates that there is no greater difference when it comes to credibility between the industries. It is perceived to be of significant role for the fashion industry as well as for the IT industry. When it comes to identity, the study showed that there is a difference between the industries. IIIIdentity is considered to be more important for the fashion industry. Which may be because identity play a larger role when it comes to more hedonistic industries.

Full textProblematization: Consumers have demonstrated an increased distrust against traditional marketing and are demanding authenticity. Influencer Marketing is used more frequently by companies in order to reach the target audience in a desired manner, and the industry is considered to have matured. As a further development of Influencer Marketing, a new phenomenon has evolved; Artificial Influencers. The phenomenon is still relatively unknown by the commonalty but has already been recognized by both fashion houses and marketers worldwide. The effects this phenomenon will have upon companies deciding to follow this new trend, their brands and perceived authenticity is still unclear and as for now, there is a lack of research on the subject. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine if, and how, consumers perception of a brand and its authenticity alters whether the brand is communicated by a Real- or an Artificial Influencer. Furthermore, the study aims to compare how these two marketing strategies differs in terms of brand perception and authenticity. Conclusion: This study determines that both similarities and differences can be distinguished among the attitudes of the respondents regarding the matter of Real- versus Artificial Influencers. The decisive factor was found to be whether or not it was clear that the Influencer was artificial. If the respondent could not tell the origin of the Influencer, the brand collaboration was assessed upon the same criteria for both types of Influencers, hence they can be regarded being equal in terms of authenticity. Moreover, it became clear that the overall congruence of fit between all of the determinants as well as the theoretical models were of importance, which depended on the individual’s subjective perception of authenticity. Contribution: This study contributes with new insights on how individuals perceive brand authenticity when companies market themselves with the help of Artificial Influencers. The phenomenon can therefore be seen as a remastered form of Influencer Marketing hence this thesis contributes to an increased understanding of both the Influencer Marketing field as well as the phenomenon of Artificial Influencers.

Full textAs advertising fatigue increases in the western world, influencer marketing is growing ever stronger as a marketing strategy. Influencers, who are basically ordinary people, earn great power on their social media platforms with thousands to millions of followers. They partner with companies for money and free products, and in return, they help companies by reaching huge target groups. In addition to paid partnerships, they publish beautiful images that strengthen their brand, which usually means to emphasize themselves as good looking, funny and nice people with fantastic and desirable lives. The fact that influencer marketing is an effective form of marketing has probably been gaining ground, but in addition to influencing consumers' purchasing behavior, they also have some influence on them on a deeper level. Given previous research examining a slightly older female target group young women in generation Z were selected as the target group for this study. The target group hass grown up with social media and is therefore interesting to investigate. Thus, the purpose of the study is to investigate how women in generation Z are influenced by influencer marketing on Instagram. To answer the purpose, two questions at issue were formulated, and the study was conducted using a qualitative method that consisted of interviews with a sample group of young women aged 15-20 and with the help of image analyzes of an influencer's Instagram feed. The results of the study showed that influencers affect young women in generation Z by painting up inventive problems, which they reinforce with unattainable, perfect ideal images while creating strong relationships with their followers. This means that the audience, despite being critical of influencers and aware that everything is not as perfect as it seems on Instagram, compares themselves - their looks and their lives - and thus questions their identity and consumes in hopes of strengthening it and to solve the painted problems as well as trying to achieve the ideal image. This contributes to stress and pressure, and in some cases mental illness. Belonging to a group is important for the target group when creating their identity and they feel that Instagram contributes to a fear of exclusion, while cultivating influencers and staying up to date on social media helps them feel group affiliation. However, they are generally positive to influencers in the aspect that they contribute to entertainment and inspiration. They find themselves seeing a positive trend among some influencers that everything no longer has to be perfect, which makes them feel like they are able to trust them more.

Full textToday, marketing is no longer just about communicating a message to a customer, but also helping to create a good impression so that customers begin to communicate and convey the message further on. With digitalization, companies can use different social channels to reach a wider reach and convey their message to a larger group of consumers. In the past, a good TV commercial or advertisement in a magazine could be enough for the consumer to want to buy the product, but today it is not enough. Today, consumers can easily use social media to find inspiration and be influenced in their buying process and decision-making process. As more people use social media, companies should follow. Due to the digital developments, more and more companies have chosen other marketing strategies to reach a wider range of consumers. An example is through social media which has become more important when it comes to marketing, advertising and communication. Social media users have also increased exponentially each year, which is why more and more companies are choosing to use social media as a marketing strategy. In this study, the use of social media will be researched and the attitude of influencer marketing through these channels will be examined. The purpose is to investigate the outcome of this type of marketing as well as how the marketing strategies should be applied by the companies using these channels. Furthermore, the purpose of this study is also to lay the groundwork and map out attitudes so that in further research it will be possible to immerse in the field. To be able to answer the study's research questions, a quantitative research method has been applied. A quantitative approach was considered most appropriate as the goal was to be able to achieve a more representative and broad result as possible. The study proves that marketing via social media helps companies reach more potential consumers with fewer resources. The use of social media is high and will continue to increase, thus marketing through these channels can lead to its message reaching a wider range of people. The study has resulted in the attitude towards influencer marketing via social media being relatively positive, but when there is too much advertisement it leads to irritation. Therefore, it is important as a marketer to find the right balance, where there is not too much advertisement but not too little. In conclusion, we believe that this strategy has succeeded with something that traditional marketing has tried for decades. This study will be written in Swedish.

Full textThe purpose of this study was to investigate the significance of influencer marketing on social media for young women between the ages of 18-25 years old, and whether it has any impact on young women's buying intentions. To meet the purpose, two research questions have been investigated and this empirical study has been based on a qualitative research through a survey and semi-structured interviews in the form of two focus groups. Influencer marketing is considered an effective marketing tool which indicates that companies use influencers to reach out to a bigger number of consumers and spread the information about the company's products and services. The result of the study shows that the influencers openness and credibility affect young women's perception of influencer marketing and also their buying intentions. Influencer marketing is considered more credible than traditional advertising, which also contributes to consumers increasing buying intentions in the pursuit of solidarity, belonging or just for inspiration. The way that young women are affected in their buying intentions of influencer marketing on social media are both varied and individual. Consumers process the information from influencer marketing in different ways, which leads to a varied impact on young women's buying intentions. This study is written in Swedish.

Full textAim: The purpose of the study is to analyze consumers trust in brands when companies use influencers in their social media marketing. The study is based on a customer perspective. Method: The study was based on a quantitative method where the empirical data were collected through a web-based survey. A total of 101 responses were collected, and 95 of them were representative. In SPSS, the data was processed and then analyzed by using descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis. The result was in turned used to conduct a discussion that led to the study's conclusion. Results and conclusion: The results indicate that influencers on Instagram have an impact on customer trust. Customers appreciate recommendations from influencers, which positively affects their buying behavior. Influencers also has a positive effect in companies´ honesty to customers. The results show that the marketing message should be informative and inspiring to increase the brands trust. Strategic use of influencer marketing would thus contribute to customers' trust. Contribution of the thesis: The theoretical contribution is about the customer perspective being studied in influencer marketing and trust. Previous research is both strengthened and confirmed. The practical contribution is to increase companies understanding of the application of influencer marketing in their marketing strategy. In this way, marketing can be more powerful with the possibility of improving customers' trust in the brand. Suggestions for further research: Further research may study further aspects of customers' trust in the brand. In order to achieve a deeper understanding of how trust works in relation to customers and brands, factors such as communication and customer recommendations could be studied. Further research may also study a different platform than Instagram and a more extensive sample.

Full textMotivated by scenarios of information diffusion and advertising in social media, we study an emph{influence maximization} (IM) problem in which little is assumed to be known about the diffusion network or about the model that determines how information may propagate. In such a highly uncertain environment, one can focus on emph{multi-round diffusion campaigns}, with the objective to maximize the number of distinct users that are influenced or activated, starting from a known base of few influential nodes.During a campaign, spread seeds are selected sequentially at consecutive rounds, and feedback is collected in the form of the activated nodes at each round.A round's impact (reward) is then quantified as the number of emph{newly activated nodes}.Overall, one must maximize the campaign's total spread, as the sum of rounds' rewards. We consider two sub-classes of IM, emph{cimp} (CIMP) and emph{ecimp} (ECIMP), where (i) the reward of a given round of an ongoing campaign consists of only the extit{new activations} (not observed at previous rounds within that campaign), (ii) the round's context and the historical data from previous rounds can be exploited to learn the best policy, and (iii) ECIMP is CIMP repeated multiple times, offering the possibility of learning from previous campaigns as well. This problem is directly motivated by the real-world scenarios of information diffusion in emph{influencer marketing}, where (i) only a target user's emph{first} / unique activation is of interest (and this activation will emph{persist} as an acquired, latent one throughout the campaign), and (ii) valuable side-information is available to the learning agent. In this setting, an explore-exploit approach could be used to learn the key underlying diffusion parameters, while running the campaigns. For CIMP, we describe and compare two methods of emph{contextual multi-armed bandits}, with emph{upper-confidence bounds} on the remaining potential of influencers, one using a generalized linear model and the Good-Turing estimator for remaining potential (glmucb), and another one that directly adapts the LinUCB algorithm to our setting (linucb). For ECIMP, we propose the algorithmlgtlsvi, which implements the extit{optimism in the face of uncertainty} principle for episodic reinforcement learning with linear approximation. The learning agent estimates for each seed node its remaining potential with a Good-Turing estimator, modified by an estimated Q-function.We show that they outperform baseline methods using state-of-the-art ideas, on synthetic and real-world data, while at the same time exhibiting different and complementary behavior, depending on the scenarios in which they are deployed

Full textThe digital world we live in has added new alternative possibilities for individuals to experiment with its identities and to present a desirable identity. People are constantly influenced by other people, both consciously and subconsciously. If a consumer sees a famous person who uses and pays tribute to a particular product, consumers become interested in buying it. This is actually an old phenomenon but social media and the digital era have cast a new light on this fact. An influencer is today a well-known phenomenon for many. Influencers usually have a more personal relationship with their followers, which means that influencer marketing is considered more effective than a traditional marketing campaign. With the popularity of social media, consumer behavior changes and social media users identify with profiles on various social media platforms. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate how female consumers' buying-behavior and identity-creation are influenced by influencer marketing on Instagram. Two research questions have been formulated to fulfill the purpose and with the help of a qualitative approach and scientific articles, the researchers have compared the collected empirical material. The qualitative method consisted of two focus groups where the sample was young women between 22-30 years. Based on the results, the study has concluded that young women today are very critical to influencer marketing. They believe that it is a good and effective marketing tool from company’s point of view but not from the consumer's perspective. The participants feel that their use of Instagram affects their identity and that they can consciously shape and present a desired identity. They are also well aware that the identity they present does not necessarily matches the person in question as they see Instagram and influencers as a superficial tool. Despite this, results show that it is very individual for how much an individual is inclined to access this information. This study is written in Swedish.

Full textInfluencer marketing as a marketing method seems to be in a rising phase and state of growth. At the same time influencer marketing is a method that formerly has been somewhat unregulated. Since the requirement of paying taxes when receiving products in Sweden was legislated the 1st of January in 2019, reason to draw attention to the intermediary in influencer marketing and its functions for brands has emerged. This study covers the intermediary in influencer marketing, its functions for brands and possible new position in the future. The aim is to contribute to an increased understanding about how the intermediary can function for brands, as well as what the intermediaries functions has or will develop to for brands due to the new law. In order to explore this seven semi structured qualitative interviews were held with respondents related to intermediaries in their daily work in some way. The respondents belonged to one of the three operator groups: brand, intermediary or influencer. The results show that the respondents portray three essential functions, whereupon these are the access to the intermediaries database of influencers, the function of the intermediary as the brands’ administrative support and the matchmaking between the brands and the influencers. Furthermore the study shows that the law of taxes on products has resulted in brands continuing growing dependence of their intermediary, and also the significance of the intermediary as an even greater administrative support for the brands. Regarding the future and the intermediary the implication is that the manufacturing of measurable data persists to be an advantage for the intermediaries and that the futures in-house alternatives can create competition. Aswell as how the intermediary ought to thrive for flexibility in order to stay competitive within influencer marketing.

Full textPurpose: The aim is to create an understanding of how companies work with CSR and whether it is possible to use influencers as a marketing tool when CSR is being communicated. The purpose is also to find out if this communication has any underlying challenges or opportunities. Method: The study is based on a qualitative method with an inductive research approach. The empirical data consists of ten semi-structured interviews conducted with two selection groups, consisting of companies and consumers. The empirical data has been analyzed with a thematic analysis, a SWOT-analysis and the study’s discussion has been done by relating the empirical material to the theoretical references. Result & conclusion: The result has shown that companies do not work according to a traditional design of CSR, but with an updated version of the concept, now to be referred as ”sustainability”. The three fundamental dimensions in CSR is still the basis of the renewed CSR. Influencers can be used in the communication of CSR/sustainability but there are several underlying challenges and threats that should be considered before implementing the tool. Suggestions for future research: The challenges and opportunities have been summarized in a SWOT analysis and the summary is the proposal for future research. Future studies can be to study other Swedish companies and see if these found factors agree with each other. If this is the case, a better– more developed – version of the model can be done for how this type of marketing should be carried out.
