Canada is in the midst of a staggered implementation of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Canada (ICD-10-CA) and the Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI). These classifications are more comprehensive than historical standards and their capacity extends beyond the scope of their predecessor classifications. Canada is the first country to produce the new classifications in a database, with the final product in an infobase format. The Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) was responsible for the enhancement of ICD-10-CA, the development of CCI, the education of coders, and the provision of post-implementation support.

Abstract:
The disposal and recycling of chlorohydrocarbons waste from organic synthesis which is annually produced at least 1,5 million tons is one of the global problems and is under the great UN's attention. Organochlorine residues are xenobiotics and adversely affect the environment. Thermodynamic modeling of interactions in the systems ZnO-CHxCly (x + y= 4)-O2 for determination of the theoretical content of chlorohydrocarbons as chlorinating agents for extracting nonferrous metals from very concentrated ore is presented in this article. The studies were conducted using the "Astra" software based on the principle of maximum entropy. Infobase of the "Astra" complex contains information on 5547 compounds, 79 items codified in the National Bureau of Standards and the Joint Institute for High Temperatures, Russian Academy of Sciences.

Abstract:
Memory of the Future presents the archaeological record from the digital perspective. The aim is characterize some possibilities that interaction provides, especially on a possible change of archaeological´s paradigm research. The digital view added to Archaeology the possibility to study the relationship between space and human time, which allow the analysis of the present and the future. The digital is potentially an important methodological resource for the expansion of the Archaeology`s field, allowing the inclusion of new objects of study, made in the virtual environment. A Databank of Archaeological Information - in real time, on the Historic Center of the City of Sao Paulo, using as a model the Patio of the College, is presented as a simulation on the archaeological record in the digital environment. The main consideration of this work is that the archaeological record - in real time is a methodological resource important for the expansion of the Archaeological research, allowing the memory of the future.

au, pasqur@perth training wa gov, and Rita Pasqualini. "Searching for Safe Text: Transfers on to the Infobahn." Murdoch University, 2003. http://wwwlib.murdoch.edu.au/adt/browse/view/adt-MU20040520.163726.

Full text
Abstract:
“Searching for safe text” is the main title of the dissertation, and also refers to the process involved in writing (and reading) it. “Transfers on to the Infobahn” is the subtitle, which applies the guiding metaphor of movement to the central concept of transfer, used to explain potentially unsafe text, and to its application in cyberspace, seen as a further step from off-line experiences. The research is on difficulties in interaction associated with differences in background languages and cultures, with an increasingly narrow focus on trans-cultural computer mediated communication using written text, mainly in English. The thesis investigates whether and how forms of linguistic interference, particularly negative transfers, lead to unsafe text and serious misunderstandings, which negatively affect interactions. Aims of the project include increased awareness of the characteristics and problems of both media and messages, and promotion of basic skills and tools to recognise, resolve, reduce and prevent such misunderstandings, to supplement broadly applicable (trans-)linguistic and transcultural communication capabilities. For this research I have collected, analysed, evaluated and compared many relevant examples, which are mostly compatible with online settings, to illustrate problems and promote approaches to their resolution. The most serious outcomes are in areas which impact on basic human needs and values, such as life, liberty and self-esteem, and involving the notion of face, also in the context of linguistic conventions of politeness. This work brings a lifelong interest in forms of transfer between different languages to the new and rapidly evolving arena of computer-mediated communication, with primary concern for interaction difficulties involving native and non-native users of a supposedly ‘common’ language. Attention to polyglots, though not exclusive, intends to highlight the often ignored issues of differences in background languages, particularly within the wide and varied English-speaking world. The challenges range from ethical concerns for equity, access and diversity in multicultural societies to economic needs for competitiveness and effectiveness in the international arena.

Wolff, Paul John III. "Making places, making learners| Place-based approaches to designing learning environments in the Age of the Infobahn." Thesis, University of Pennsylvania, 2015. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=3721080.

Abstract:

The miniaturization of electronics, the commodification of information, and the growing domination of communications technology have created a culture characterized by a compressed sense of time and space. In this realm, technology allows immediate contact with people anywhere around the globe. Computers and smartphones collapse multiple geographies into one, with a touch of a button, by allowing real-time communication from any place. In this Age of the Infobahn, there are no physical buildings, landscapes, or bodies of water. Residents are likely to be avatars (digital representations of a people) whose sense of continuity and belonging is derived from being networked to the widely scattered people and places they care about. Functions that were once served by architecture, furniture, and fixed equipment are now shifting to portable devices. Places are constructed with bits (of information) and electronic glue.

Although making places for human habitation long has been the domain of architects, landscape architects, and urban planners, the realm of cyberspace does not yet utilize the theories, experiences, and practices that have guided the design of physical spaces for centuries. Just as there is a need for public parks and squares to be pleasant and welcoming to a diverse population in order to function effectively, so must the interfaces and places in cyberspace be. Just as there are architecturally significant places in the physical world, there also must be significant places in the virtual world. Thus, architectural frameworks are important for facilitating functional, enduring, and aesthetically pleasing virtual places where real people may interact with each other and with the place. This dissertation explores the similarities and differences of physical and virtual placemaking, and the extent to which the approach may impact the learning experience for students and/or the shape of learning spaces in the future.
