The California State University, Northridge (CSUN) Oviatt Library was the first library in the world to integrate an automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) into its operations. The AS/RS continues to provide efficient space management for the library. However, added value has been identified in materials security and inventory as well as customer service. The concept of library as space, paired with improved services and efficiencies, has resulted in the AS/RS becoming a critical component of library operations and future strategy. Staffing, service, and security opportunities paired with support and maintenance challenges, enable the library to provide a unique critique and assessment of an AS/RS.

The concept and applications of computerized information systems for the management of urban trees are reviewed. Among their uses are landscape planning, choosing species to be planted, organizing work on trees, departmental planning and evaluation, and public relations. Five types of data required for these purposes pertain to the location of trees, tree characteristics, site characteristics, actions recommended, and work completed. Methods for handling data are reviewed including collection, processing, storage retrieval, and updating. Computer equipment and software options are discussed, particularly microcomputers. Advice is offered on installing a management information system for urban trees and for using it effectively.

As a first step in an object-oriented approach to hospital information management and storing medical data in an object-oriented database, we connected electrocardiographs to a hospital network and established the integration of ECG storage and retrieval systems with a hospital information system. In this paper, the object-oriented analysis and design of the ECG storage and retrieval systems is reported.

Purpose State-of-the-art cloud applications are problematic for collaborative document management; their current design does not encourage active personal folder categorization. Cloud applications such as Google Drive and Microsoft’s OneDrive store documents automatically, so at no point are users directed to categorize them by placing them in folders. To encourage active categorization and promote effective retrieval of cloud documents, the authors designed an add-on “nudge” called Personal Organizer which prompts Google Drive users to categorize by storing cloud documents in personal folders. The add-on prompt is triggered when users attempt to close uncategorized or unnamed documents. The purpose of this paper is to test whether using the Personal Organizer add-on leads participants to actively store their documents in folders that they personally created, and whether this promotes more successful and efficient retrieval. Design/methodology/approach To test the add-on, the authors conducted a pretest-manipulation-post-test intervention study with 34 participants lasting over three months. In both tests, participants were asked to retrieve personal documents taken from their own “Recents” list to improve ecological validity. Findings Using our add-on doubled the percentage of documents that were actively stored in folders. Additionally, using personally created folders substantially improved retrieval success while decreasing retrieval time. Originality/value Implementing our findings can improve document storage and retrieval for millions of users of collaborative cloud storage. The authors discuss broader theoretical implications concerning the role of active organization for retrieval in collaborative repositories, as well as design implications.

In order to improve the data retrieval and mining ability of agricultural information management system, an agricultural information management data model based on cloud computing and semantic technology was proposed. Fuzzy C-means algorithm is used for adaptive fusion and clustering of semantic association features of distributed data in large-scale information management systems; feature compressors are used to reduce the storage space dimension of large-scale information management system to improve the target data mining capability and adaptive scheduling capability of information management system. The registration rate improves than the traditional method by 12.46% and computational cost by 23.76%. This method has higher accuracy in storage data mining and retrieval for large information management systems and superior performance than the traditional method. The introduction of the concept and technical methods of related data is the best practice to realize the fine disclosure, standardized description, semantic organization, and in-depth integration of massive agricultural science and technology information resources, which will play an important role in improving the visibility, visibility, and accessibility of agricultural information resources. It is innovative in the construction of the multidimensional semantic-related model and field knowledge service system driven by related data.

With the rapid development of cloud computing, massive data are transferred to cloud servers for storage and management savings. For privacy concerns, data should be encrypted before being uploaded. In the encrypted-domain (ED), however, many data computing methods working in the plain-domain are no longer applicable. Data retrieval has become a significant obstacle to cloud storage services. To break through this limitation, we propose a multi-keyword searchable encryption scheme by introducing probability trapdoors. Firstly, a keywords probability trapdoor is established to ensure that the scheme can resist indistinguishable attacks. Based on the keywords trapdoor, we present the keywords vector to make the scheme realize multi-keyword search in the process of data retrieval in the ED. Both security and performance analysis confirm the advantages of the proposed scheme in terms of search functionality and complexity.

AbstractSeveral satellite data receiving and distributing centers across the world support data storage, processing, and retrieval based on satellite, sensor, product, latitude, longitude, date and time, etc. These systems address queries on satellite products that are mostly high-level concepts. A more sophisticated retrieval system that supports ontological concepts, subconcepts, and concept hierarchical queries delivers refined results that broaden the scientific horizon of the application domain. To achieve this, the current research designed and implemented an ontology concept-based satellite data management and retrieval methodology. This enhances the performance of the satellite data retrieval system and supports semantic queries. The performance of the retrieval system depends upon the strategy followed to maintain domain ontologies and satellite data instances. Three ontology-based satellite data management strategies are discussed, and their performance was evaluated by taking real and benchmark metrics. A semantic query set of 25 queries was chosen covering various concepts, subconcepts, and concept hierarchical-related queries that involve various SPARQL query constructs. The test bed is taken from real-time satellite data received from Kalpana-1 of various sizes of triple stores.

This paper investigates some of the currently available optical disk storage and retrieval systems, image manipulation systems and OCR systems. Future developments are presented and an attempt at outlining a longer term trend is made. The main conclusions of the paper are as follows: 1. Optical disk systems which are currently available are costly and are accompanied by excessive software and hardware capabilities which might be beyond the needs of the straightforward document storage and retrieval application. A tailor-made system to suit a specific application might be the route to follow provided read-only and multiple access operations are required and the optical system has a definite overall performance advantage over-microform. 2. In general, the document handling times of both the scanners and the printers of optical systems present a constraint on their continued rapid operation. 3. For general applications it might be advisable to wait for at least a year or two by which time erasable disk media should be available and some degree of disk standardization will have evolved. Costs however could still be a factor at that time. 4. The office-supplies industry is not expecting optical systems to have an appreciable effect on the ‘paperless office’ before 1990. 5. Image manipulation systems currently available are too generalized, slow and require excessive computer storage. Their range of performance is somewhat limited. Should such a system be required, it would be best to develop application-specific software taking advantage of computer configuration.

As the Internet of Things (IoT) systems gain in popularity, an increasing number of Big Data sources are available. Ranging from small sensor networks designed for household use to large fully automated industrial environments, the IoT systems create billions of measurements each second making traditional storage and indexing solutions obsolete. While research around Big Data has focused on scalable solutions that can support the datasets produced by these systems, the focus has been mainly on managing the volume and velocity of these data, rather than providing efficient solutions for their retrieval and analysis. A key characteristic of these data, which is, more often than not, overlooked, is the spatial information that can be used to integrate data from multiple sources and conduct multi-dimensional analysis of the collected information. We present here the solutions currently available for the storage and indexing of spatial datasets produced by the IoT systems and we discuss their applicability in real-world scenarios.

Information Retrieval (IR) concerns about the structure, analysis, organization, storage, and retrieval of information. Among different retrieval models proposed in the past decades, generative retrieval models, especially those under the statistical probabilistic framework, are one of the most popular techniques that have been widely applied to Information Retrieval problems. While they are famous for their well-grounded theory and good empirical performance in text retrieval, their applications in IR are often limited by their complexity and low extendability in the modeling of high-dimensional information. Recently, advances in deep learning techniques provide new opportunities for representation learning and generative models for information retrieval. In contrast to statistical models, neural models have much more flexibility because they model information and data correlation in latent spaces without explicitly relying on any prior knowledge. Previous studies on pattern recognition and natural language processing have shown that semantically meaningful representations of text, images, and many types of information can be acquired with neural models through supervised or unsupervised training. Nonetheless, the effectiveness of neural models for information retrieval is mostly unexplored. In this thesis, we study how to develop new generative models and representation learning frameworks with neural models for information retrieval. Specifically, our contributions include three main components: (1) Theoretical Analysis : We present the first theoretical analysis and adaptation of existing neural embedding models for ad-hoc retrieval tasks; (2) Design Practice : Based on our experience and knowledge, we show how to design an embedding-based neural generative model for practical information retrieval tasks such as personalized product search; And (3) Generic Framework : We further generalize our proposed neural generative framework for complicated heterogeneous information retrieval scenarios that concern text, images, knowledge entities, and their relationships. Empirical results show that the proposed neural generative framework can effectively learn information representations and construct retrieval models that outperform the state-of-the-art systems in a variety of IR tasks.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of team learning processes (information acquisition, information processing and information storage and retrieval) on team performance in software development projects and to assess the effect of ethical leadership and its influence on these processes. Design/methodology/approach The authors examined 354 software development project teams in Thailand. A quantitative study was conducted through a Web-based survey, with structural equation modelling used to test the hypotheses. Findings The results of this study revealed that ethical leadership is positively correlated with the team learning processes of information acquisition, information processing and information storage and retrieval. However, only information processing and information storage and retrieval are positively related to team performance. The results indicate that ethical leadership has a positive direct effect on team performance. The results also show that the positive relationship between ethical leadership and team performance is partially mediated by team learning processes, namely, information processing and information storage and retrieval. Research limitations/implications This study highlights the importance of ethical leadership and guides managers towards considering the characteristics of both ethical leadership and team learning processes for enhancing team performance in software development projects. Originality/value This is the first study to the best of authors’ knowledge to examine the role of team learning processes in mediating the relationship between ethical leadership and team performance, particularly concerning software development projects. The present research contributes to the literature on team performance management, emphasising the manner in which ethical leadership can result in team learning and team performance. The findings of this study can be used to encourage organisations to develop ethical leadership behaviours and team learning processes in software development projects.

As both the availability of internet access and the prominence of smart devices continue to increase, data is being generated at a rate faster than ever before. This massive increase in data production comes with many challenges, including efficiency concerns for the storage and retrieval of such large-scale data. However, users have grown to expect the sub-second response times that are common in most modern search engines, creating a problem --- how can such large amounts of data continue to be served efficiently enough to satisfy end users? This dissertation investigates several issues regarding tail latency in large-scale information retrieval systems. Tail latency corresponds to the high percentile latency that is observed from a system --- in the case of search, this latency typically corresponds to how long it takes for a query to be processed. In particular, keeping tail latency as low as possible translates to a good experience for all users, as tail latency is directly related to the worst-case latency and hence, the worst possible user experience. The key idea in targeting tail latency is to move from questions such as "what is the median latency of our search engine?" to questions which more accurately capture user experience such as "how many queries take more than 200 ms to return answers?" or "what is the worst case latency that a user may be subject to, and how often might it occur?" While various strategies exist for efficiently processing queries over large textual corpora, prior research has focused almost entirely on improvements to the average processing time or cost of search systems. As a first contribution, we examine some state-of-the-art retrieval algorithms for two popular index organizations, and discuss the trade-offs between them, paying special attention to the notion of tail latency. This research uncovers a number of observations that are subsequently leveraged for improved search efficiency and effectiveness. We then propose and solve a new problem, which involves processing a number of related query variations together, known as multi-queries , to yield higher quality search results. We experiment with a number of algorithmic approaches to efficiently process these multi-queries, and report on the cost, efficiency, and effectiveness trade-offs present with each. Finally, we examine how predictive models can be used to improve the tail latency and end-to-end cost of a commonly used multi-stage retrieval architecture without impacting result effectiveness. By combining ideas from numerous areas of information retrieval, we propose a prediction framework which can be used for training and evaluating several efficiency/effectiveness trade-off parameters, resulting in improved trade-offs between cost, result quality, and tail latency.

To solve the existing problems of corporate information systems development, an algorithm of actions to increase the level of informatization and efficiency of corporations, which will address current issues of corporate information systems, taking into account domestic legislation and features of corporate governance, increase efficiency and transparency of business processes and provide centralized support for management decisions. at all levels and in all areas of business companies. It is emphasized that one of the main properties of information systems is divisibility into subsystems, which has scales in terms of its development and operation. The stages of creation and functioning (life cycle) of information are specified. It is proved that the use of information systems is a prerequisite for a modern enterprise, that will promote the adoption of sound strategic management decisions aimed at increasing competition (capacity and strengthening the economic security of the enterprise. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the ongoing life cycle of the world's first library Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) at the Oviatt Library at the California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Born from the pilot project at the California State University Chancellor's Office, CSUN's ASRS was inaugurated in 1991 and cost over $2,000,000 to implement. It survived a devastating 6.8 Northridge earthquake and protected the collection housed within. Almost 20 years later the CSUN ASRS underwent a major renovation of hardware. With the changing concept of library as space and the construction of Learning Commons at the Oviatt, the demand for ASRS capacity is higher than ever. Design/methodology/approach – In addition to the history and overview, the paper explores the major aspects of ASRS administration: specifications of storage layout and arrangement of the materials, collection policy for storing materials, communication of retrieval requests and ASRS interface and compatibility with successive Integrated Library Systems. Findings – The first ASRS served as proof of concept that a library collection does not lose its effectiveness when low-circulating materials are removed from the open stacks. Furthermore, with the changing concept of library as space and the construction of Learning Commons at the Oviatt, the provision of the nimble, just-in-time collection becomes paramount, and the demand for ASRS increases exponentially. Practical implications – Administrators and librarians who consider investing in ASRS will learn about the principles of storage organization, imperatives and challenges of its conception and long-term management on the example of CSUN. Originality/value – The paper carries unique qualities as it describes the formation and evolution of the world's first library ASRS. The visionary undertaking not only withstood the test of time and nature, it continues to play a pivotal role in Oviatt Library's adaption to the new generation of users’ demands and expectations.

Astronomers and librarians have been experiencing difficulties in keeping up with the amount of published literature. The astronomer tries to keep abreast in his particular field and the librarian in the management, control and retrieval of scientific information. The 1980’s have seen a revolution in the methods for information storage and retrieval and in particular the advent of the online database. The speed of processing information for storage has been embraced by all, however little thought has been given to how we shall achieve effective high precision recall of documents.Many librarians firmly believe the best road to success in information retrieval from automated systems is provided by vocabulary control. Contrary to belief, free text or natural language searching alone does not lead to high precision recall. Consistency and integrity of the online catalogue can only be achieved with the addition of a controlled vocabulary. With today’s technology it is possible to maintain the best of both worlds. The controlled vocabulary is used to index the major concepts of a given document over and above the natural language used within the document.

As Jon Beaumont describes, there was no centralised method of storage or retrieval for knowledge and Attorneys would have to contend with searching the firm's Document Management System (DMS), SharePoint intranet, internal discussion boards or ten disparate knowledge systems for document and matter information. ‘Knowledge Center’ was launched in 2015, following two years of planning, aimed at consolidating firm systems and providing users with a single interface to access any required know-how. This article will touch upon the consolidation and migration of information, but focus predominantly on Knowledge Center itself, examining functionality, search, filtering and browse. Processes for better knowledge identification of both document and matter know-how, all of which have contributed to the success of Knowledge Center, shall also be considered.

Space-based information infrastructure has matured over the years, but most of the satellite systems are independent, which cause the resources of the satellite computing platform are isolated from each other. In this case, storage and computing resources cannot be utilized fully, which also cannot effectively support space-based intelligent application platform[1]. In this paper, a space-based embedded cloud computing platform is designed by combining the application requirements of space-based intelligent computing and ground-based cloud computing system, which includes sharing and using large-scale computing resources, concurrent monitoring and management of multi-tasks, fault-tolerant migration of tasks, and distributed storage retrieval. The results of this paper are committed to building an intelligent information network computing and storage platform, which could support for space-based intelligent infrastructure application.

Intelligent transportation system (ITS) sensor networks, such as road weather information and traffic sensor networks, typically generate enormous amounts of data. As a result, archiving, retrieval, and exchange of ITS sensor data for planning and performance analysis are becoming increasingly difficult. An efficient ITS archiving system that is compact and exchangeable and allows efficient and fast retrieval of large amounts of data is essential. A proposal is made for a system that can meet the present and future archiving needs of large-scale ITS data. This system is referred to as common data format (CDF) and was developed by the National Space Science Data Center for archiving, exchange, and management of large-scale scientific array data. CDF is an open system that is free and portable and includes self-describing data abstraction. Archiving traffic data by using CDF is demonstrated, and its archival and retrieval performance is presented for the Minnesota Department of Transportation–s 30-s traffic data collected from about 4,000 loop detectors around Twin Cities freeways. For comparison of the archiving performance, the same data were archived by using a commercially available relational database, which was evaluated for its archival and retrieval performance. This result is presented, along with reasons that CDF is a good fit for large-scale ITS data archiving, retrieval, and exchange of data.

Such information-related attention originates from many emergency-specific concerns including the limited focus of current emergency response information systems, decision limitations that challenge the formulation of decision support applications and the characterization of user requirements, the heterogeneity of emergency response information and the difficulty of integrating spatially distributed information sources. The increased attention in emergency response information also emerges from the recent technological developments (in terms of hardware, software functionalities, databases and telecommunication, among others) which significantly affected the processing, storage and retrieval of real time information. This paper focuses on the examination of the context of emergency response in Al Ahsaa area of Saudi Arabia and the applicability of multi-agent information systems through the proposal of an integrated architecture. Then it sheds light on the implementation concerns to ensure the contribution of the proposed architecture towards the engagement of stakeholders, the improvement of the availability and accessibility of emergency management information and the harmonization of emergency response operations. .

Since multimedia information is complicated inform and vast in amount, conventional database-management systems or knowledge-base-management systems are hardly appropriate to store, manage, and utilize expertise effectively. A new type of information model is developed according to an analysis of the information used by specialists for research and development, and a prototype information-management system is implemented. The system consists of three parts: (1) flexible storage without special constraints on format and representation; (2) self-organization of terms by extracting semantic relationships among them; and (3) advanced utilization functions such as analogical reasoning, inductive inference, abductive inference, as well as information retrieval, numerical calculation, and deductive inference. Thesauri which are automatically compiled and refined are used as conceptual structures of the information. Thus obtained, conceptual structures can be used for sophisticated applications, including analogical reasoning, induction, and abduction. The principle of open-world reasoning and an algorithm of analogy are developed. An example of practical application to polymer information is presented.

Purpose Vertical lift module (VLM) is a parts-to-picker system for order picking of small products, which are stored into two columns of trays served by a lifting crane. A dual-bay VLM order picking (dual-bay VLM-OP) system is a particular solution where the operator works in parallel with the crane, allowing higher throughput performance. The purpose of this paper is to define models for different operating configurations able to improve the total throughput of the dual-bay VLM-OP system. Design/methodology/approach Analytical models are developed to estimate the throughput of a dual-bay VLM-OP. A deep evaluation has been carried out, considering different storage assignment policies and the sequencing retrieval of trays. Findings A more accurate estimation of the throughput is demonstrated, compared to the application of previous models. Some use guidelines for practitioners and academics are derived from the analysis based on real data. Originality/value Differing from previous contributions, these models include the acceleration/deceleration of the crane and the probability of storage and retrieve of each single tray. This permits to apply these models to different storage assignment policies and to suggest when these policies can be profitably applied. They can also model the sequencing retrieval of trays.

Changes in healthcare, such as integrated care, the use of big data, electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, decision support systems and consumer empowerment, are impacting on the management of health information. Integrated care requires linked data; activity-based funding requires valid coding; EHRs require standards for documentation, retrieval and analysis; and decision support systems require standardised nomenclatures. The ethical oversight of how health-related information is used, as opposed to governance of its content, storage and communication, remains ill-defined. More fundamentally, the conceptual foundations of health information in terms of “diagnostic” constructs are creating limitations: Why should a medical diagnosis be privileged as the key descriptor of care, over disability or other aspects of the human experience? Who gets to say what matters, and how and by whom is that translated into meaningful information? These are important questions on which the health information management profession is well placed to lead. In this changing environment, threats and opportunities for the profession are presented and discussed. Highlighted is the need for leadership from the profession on the ethical use of health information.

The work is focused on features of knowledge storage and its reuse in companies whose activities are related to software development. The concepts of knowledge, knowledge management and knowledge management systems from the standpoint of their usage in an IT company are given. It is determined that organizational knowledge is divided into explicit, which can be presented in the form of a letter, instructions, reference book, etc., and implicit, which exists only in an employee's mind directly and cannot be easily extracted. The main goal of knowledge management is formed, which is the organization of processes of creation, storage, acquisition, transfer and application of knowledge. The main strategies of knowledge are described, including the creation of knowledge, storage and retrieval of knowledge, transfer and exchange of knowledge, application of knowledge, examples of their use in software development. The characteristics of the knowledge management system is given as an information system that is designed to improve the efficiency of knowledge management of the organization. This system allows to solve problems related to the variety of software projects in which the IT company is involved. The main structural components and functions of knowledge management systems are identified, which include search tools, content and interaction management tools, data storage tools and mining tools, as well as group and artificial intelligence tools. The features of the usage and implementation of knowledge management systems at the work of small and medium-sized IT companies on the example of the Academy Smart Ltd are analyzed. The emerging issues of implementation of the system and success factors are considered. The features of the knowledge management process in Academy Smart Ltd is given, conclusions about efficiency of this organization are made, according to what the directions of the further researches are formed.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to introduce a novel personal scientific document retrieval system. The most common approach taken for the storage of personal documents is to construct a hierarchical folder structure. Most users prefer searching for documents by manually traversing their organizational hierarchy until reaching the location where the target item is stored, then locating the specific documents within its directory or folder. However, this is very time-consuming, especially when the number of personal scientific documents is very large. Unfortunately, related personal information management (PIM) systems, which provide solutions for managing various types of personal information, have thus far made little progress at managing personal scientific documents. Design/methodology/approach – In this paper, we introduce the design of a personal scientific document retrieval system, namely, LocalContent. It is composed of database indexing and retrieval stages. During indexing, term feature extraction from scientific documents is performed by the natural language processing technique. The extracted terms are stored in the inverted index for later retrieval. For retrieval, a graphical user interface is provided by LocalContent, which allows users to search their personal scientific documents. Findings – The evaluation results based on 20 different personal archives taken from 20 graduate students show that LocalContent is simple to use and can facilitate the search for relevant scientific documents. Moreover, these users were willing to have a system which provides specialized search functions like LocalContent to explore their personal scientific documents in the future. Originality/value – LocalContent is a novel scientific document retrieval system and provides several particular functions of LocalContent including displaying the content summary of the query term frequency in each specific section of the retrieved documents, querying by local section specification and providing a number of recommended keywords related to the query terms.

Purpose – Procurement records are critical for the effective execution of the procurement process and have been applied as tools to measure compliance and performance of Public Procuring and Disposing Entities (PDEs) by the regulating authority in Uganda – the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA). However, the state of records in various Ugandan PDEs depicts poor records management. This situation has adversely affected the effective creation, usage and storage of public procurement records. This compromises the value and importance of records within the procurement process, with most documents being unavailable and unreliable. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between procurement records compliance, effective risk management and records management performance in Ugandan PDEs. Design/methodology/approach – The study adopted a quantitative research design and used a cross-sectional survey. The researchers developed a questionnaire on the study constructs of procurement records compliance, effective risk management and records management performance using measurement scales derived from previous empirical studies which were modified to suit the current study. Findings – The results indicate quantitative evidence of significant positive relationships between procurement records compliance, effective risk management and records management performance. Findings also reveal that procurement records compliance and effective risk management are significant predictors of record management performance. The results also suggest that effective risk management has a stronger influence on records management performance than that on procurement records compliance. Research limitations/implications – The study context is sub-Saharan Africa, and the findings are, therefore, limited to that context; they reflect existing knowledge in other contexts. The use of a standard questionnaire limited the ability to collect views about information outside the questions asked. The study was only cross-sectional, and the study variables could not be analyzed over a long time. Common methods bias remains a potential threat; future studies should use different source data. Practical implications – Custodians of procurement records, that is, procurement officers, records officers and accounting officers for Ugandan PDEs need to pay special attention to prevailing records laws and policies to minimize risks associated with the poor management of records, as well as improve performance in the management of records creation, storage, retrieval, access and the preservation of vital records. Originality/value – The study contributes to an important area which has not been given attention in the context of sub-Saharan Africa, especially Uganda where there is a difficulty of linking the value of records management to business processes due to a lack of quantitative evidence.

HI is another interdisciplinary field around collection, storage, retrieval and analysis of data, reporting and enabling use of information, and (re)design and maintenance of systems to do all of these. SE and HI are complementary in their approach to identification of problems and solution procedure for (re)design and improvement. This combination has major implications for care delivery, research, and education to address the challenges.

With the rapid growth and adoption of cloud computing, more sensitive information is centralized onto the cloud every day. For protecting this sensitive information, it must be encrypted before being outsourced. Current search schemes allow the user to query encrypted data using keywords, but these schemes do not guarantee the privacy of queries (i.e., when the user hits query more than once with the same keywords, the server can capture information about the data). This paper focuses on the secure storage and retrieval of ciphered data with preserving query privacy. The proposed scheme deploys the sparse vector space model to represent each query, which focuses on reducing the storage and representation overheads. And the proposed scheme adds a random number to each query vector. Hence, the cloud server cannot distinguish between queries with the same keywords, which ensures the privacy of the query. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme outperforms other relevant state-of-the-art schemes.

This makes the process of data management to be slow, as well as when the supply of information when needed. The methodology used is through a process of interviews and observations to the user to analyze and implement the system. The results of the analysis is described by using the modeling language UML (Unified Modeling Language). Abstract:
The majority of the existing land information systems (LIS) are centralized, transaction processing systems based on object-relational database management systems for data storage, management, and retrieval. These traditional database management systems are dominantly based on a share-everything or share disk architecture and face challenges in meeting the performance and scalability requirements of distributed, data-intensive systems, including LIS. They support vertical, rather than horizontal scalability, which is of particular importance in distributed systems. In some cases, due to legal, administrative, or infrastructure constraints, LIS need to be distributed rather than centralized systems. Distributed computing systems and share-nothing architecture have become very popular, including new data processing platforms and frameworks with horizontal scalability and fault tolerance capabilities. In this paper, we present cdrLIS—a generic and extensible core of LIS based on relevant international standards and the NewSQL database management system (DBMS) that enables the implementation of consistent, distributed, highly-available, and resilient LIS. A generic core is implemented in the Go programming language and can be easily extended and adopted towards the implementation of a specific country profile. cdrLIS can be deployed either on a computer cluster or on cloud computing platforms and thus support the design and building of a new generation of distributed and resilient data-intensive applications and information systems in the land administration domain.

Abstract:
The software development industry is characterised by swift innovation and competition. To survive, software engineering (SE) organisations need to develop high-quality software products in a timely fashion and at low cost. Knowledge-based approaches to software development are extremely supportive to acquiring new knowledge and leveraging existing knowledge from software projects; this enables constant improvement of software development practices. In this empirical study of Indian SE organisations, we study the impact of managing knowledge for perceived software process improvement (PSPI) and its effect on software product quality. Information technology (IT) in knowledge management (KM) is an important facilitator for any SE organisation desiring to exploit evolving technologies for management of their knowledge assets and for carrying out various KM processes of knowledge capture, storage, retrieval and sharing. Surveys collected from Indian SE organisations were analysed to propose a model using a structured equation modelling (SEM) technique. Our findings reveal that the relation between KM and quality of software product is positively mediated by PSPI. These findings reinforce an arena that is of growing importance to researchers and practitioners and which has seen only a limited number of empirical studies to date in the context of Indian SE organisations.
