Library bibliographic classification (LBC) is the national classification system of Russia. The article briefly covers the history of the LBC and presents the structure and content of new sections of the LBC schedules, reflecting the modern literature on information science, information technology and cybernetics. The author considers specific features of delimitation of literature within the sections and between other divisions of the LBC medium schedules. Cybernetics section gives the most general and modern definition of cybernetics as the science of systems organization and control. The article studies the principles of literature delimitation between cybernetics, social and economic sciences. The author determines the main place for general literature on mathematical modelling and other methods of process control simulation. The article considers the principles of delimitation from the literature using mathematical modelling as a research method. The author presents the control system as a complex of interrelated and interdependent elements that form an ordered integrity and unity. In the construction of “Informatics and information technology” section the priority is given to the literature for users. The author analyses the principles of delimitation between informatics, mathematics, technology and scientific-information activity. The sources on preparation of text and graphic documents, technical and accounting documentation are considered as information technology, and literature on study and use of computer programs for these purposes is collected in the relevant divisions on computer technology. The article studies the principles of delimitation of literature on information processes in computer networks, network equipment, etc. The author determines the main place for the literature on Internet technologies and analyses the principles of delimitation from the literature on information search as scientific-information activity, creation and programming of web sites. There is fixed the place for literature on information systems and databases, the main areas of research in the field of artificial intelligence, virtual reality and virtualization technology. “Information security” completes the section. Delimitation is carried out with the legal basis of information security and engineering protection of information. New sections of the LBC schedules have improved the classification of literature and made it more convenient to search the catalogues.

Social networking sites (SNS) are integrated world wide web-based information, communication and community platforms that allow the creation of personal profiles, the upload and sharing of multimedia data, networking with other users with the help of “friends lists”, communication by tools such as e-mail, guest books, or forums. SNS combine a number of Internet technologies on one platform and are among the most popular Internet and web applications. Young people especially use them, which is why it is important to assess the implications of SNS usage by young people for society. In this paper, foundations of complex and dialectical SNS technology assessment are elaborated by introducing three different approaches of technology assessment: 1) technological determinism; 2) the social construction of technology; and 3) complex dialectical technology assessment. It is argued that technology assessment should be conceived as complex and dialectical and that it should try to identify contradictions of technology and society. An empirical study of SNS usage is presented as an example of complex, dialectical technology assessment.

ABSTRACT Objective: To investigate the quality of the data disseminated via the Internet regarding pain experienced by orthodontic patients. Materials and Methods: A systematic online search was performed for ‘orthodontic pain’ and ‘braces pain’ separately using five search engines. The first 25 results from each search term–engine combination were pooled for analysis. After excluding advertising sites, discussion groups, video feeds, and links to scientific articles, 25 Web pages were evaluated in terms of accuracy, readability, accessibility, usability, and reliability using recommended research methodology; reference textbook material, the Flesch Reading Ease Score; and the LIDA instrument. Author and information details were also recorded. Results: Overall, the results indicated a variable quality of the available informational material. Although the readability of the Web sites was generally acceptable, the individual LIDA categories were rated of medium or low quality, with average scores ranging from 16.9% to 86.2%. The orthodontic relevance of the Web sites was not accompanied by the highest assessment results, and vice versa. Conclusions: The quality of the orthodontic pain information cited by Web sources appears to be highly variable. Further structural development of health information technology along with public referral to reliable sources by specialists are recommended.

Internet users generally want a quick access time when visiting a website page to get the desired information. In the research conducted in the writing of this journal, the researchers wanted to show and explain the several important factors that
influence the speed of access from a website page, as well as analyzing based on technical factors. Where the main discussion in this study will focus more on the evaluation of technical factors starting from the programming side (server side programming and client side programming) and also the design of the user interface using web pages using minify CSS along with the use of AJAX technology. The results to be achieved from this study are to identify how much influence the technical factors mentioned above have on the speed of visitor access to a web page, apart from other technical factors such as internet network speed, devices and areas where users can access website page.

Findings – The trends in various information and library-related issues discussed online show a tending towards using new technology and the disadvantages of some, while advocating for review of some instructional methods by librarians to their clientele. Originality/value – The most current trends of discussion on the internet are presented up to the January 31, 2014.

Abstract Context.—There are numerous customers for pathology departmental Web sites, including pathology department staff, clinical staff, residency applicants, job seekers, and other individuals outside the department seeking department information. Despite the increasing importance of departmental Web sites as a means of distributing information, no analysis has been done to date of the content and usage of pathology department Web sites. Objective.—In this study, we analyzed pathology department Web sites to examine the elements present on each site and to evaluate the use of search technology on these sites. Further, we examined the usage patterns of our own departmental Internet and intranet Web sites to better understand the users of pathology Web sites. Design.—We reviewed selected departmental pathology Web sites and analyzed their content and functionality. Our institution's departmental pathology Web sites were modified to enable detailed information to be stored regarding users and usage patterns, and that information was analyzed. Results.—We demonstrate considerable heterogeneity in departmental Web sites with many sites lacking basic content and search features. In addition, we demonstrate that increasing the traffic of a department's informational Web sites may result in reduced phone inquiries to the laboratory. We propose recommendations for pathology department Web sites to maximize promotion of a department's mission. Conclusions.—A departmental pathology Web site is an essential communication tool for all pathology departments, and attention to the users and content of the site can have operational impact.

Over the years, human dependence on the Internet has increased dramatically. A large amount of information is placed on the Internet and retrieved from it daily, which makes web security in terms of online information a major concern. In recent years, the most problematic issues in web security have been e-mail address leakage and SQL injection attacks. There are many possible causes of information leakage, such as inadequate precautions during the programming process, which lead to the leakage of e-mail addresses entered online or insufficient protection of database information, a loophole that enables malicious users to steal online content. In this paper, we implement a crawler mining system that is equipped with SQL injection vulnerability detection, by means of an algorithm developed for the web crawler. In addition, we analyze portal sites of the governments of various countries or regions in order to investigate the information leaking status of each site. Subsequently, we analyze the database structure and content of each site, using the data collected. Thus, we make use of practical verification in order to focus on information security and privacy through black-box testing.

Abstract Context.—With the increasing popularity of the Internet as a primary medical information source, it is critical for pathologists to be able to use and evaluate both general medical- and pathology-related Web sites. Several published models for evaluating Web sites prove cumbersome to use and often involve computer- or statistic-based algorithms. Objectives.—To develop a simple group of scoring criteria to objectively evaluate medical Web sites and provide a list of the highest-scoring pathology-related sites that will be useful to the practicing pathologist. Design.—Using 11 commonly used Internet search engines, the top 50 “hits” retrieved from the search term websites for pathologists were scored using 5 criteria, including accuracy, ease of navigation, relevance, updates, and completeness. A possible 6 to 12 points per area were awarded, and the total score was summated. Results.—Scores obtained ranged from 12 to 21. Thirty-five Web sites, all scoring 15 or higher based on these criteria, were listed as most useful. Conclusion.—A simple, easy-to-use, 5-category scoring system can prove useful in evaluating pathology- and medical-related Web sites.

The advance of Internet towards Web 2.0 conveys the potential it has in a wide range of scopes. The ongoing progress of the Web technology and its availability in teaching and learning, as well as a students’ profile increasingly more used to managing an important amount of digital information, offers lecturers the opportunity and challenge of putting at students’ disposal didactic tools making use of the Internet. Programming is one of the essential areas taught in university studies of Computer Science and other engineering degrees. At present, it is a knowledge acquired through tutorial classes and the practice with different tools for programming. This paper shows the acquired experience in the development and use of a simple compiler accessible through a Web page. In addition it presents a teaching proposal for its use in subjects that include programming languages lessons. OLC - On-Line Compiler - is an application which greatly lightens the student’s workload at the initial stage of programming. During this initial period they will neither have to deal with the complexities of the installation and the configuration of these types of tools, nor with the understanding of multiple options which they present. Therefore students can concentrate on the comprehension of the programming structures and the programming language to be studied.

Interest in the internet as a media to enhance learning experience in education operations has increased over the last decade. The recent web era termed as web 2.0. In web 2.0 era, users have the convenience to design their own website without need of learning complicated programming language. Combination between offline and online learning is known as blended learning. Innovations related with blended learning are emerging. The purposes of this paper are to elaborate the features of Google Sites that are useful for blended learning and to share users experiences from utilize Google Sites as tools of blended learning program at Faculty of Economics and Business University of Padjadjaran (FEB Unpad), Bandung, Indonesia. Users are often inhibited in creating or maintaining a website because of the complexity challenge. Google Sites, known for its tag line“create, collect and controlâ€, offers ease of use in this regard. Faculty member and student can use this tool to interact. Users experience survey was conducted involving 84 users (78 students and 6 faculty members) to elaborate response of users, both faculty members and students. Results suggest that highest agreement rate was attained that Google site is helpful in share information. The lowest aggrement rate was found in “Google site useful for online discussionâ€.

Yet the processes by which collections of specimens are assembled, translated into information, combined with more information, and distributed are taking research repositories into the virtual realm.The term “virtual” has a number of meanings, and so a research repository can qualify as virtual in a variety of ways. The term would seem to apply, for example, to (1) constructing a repository by forming a network among institutions; (2) using the Internet or the World Wide Web to solicit specimens and information; (3) integrating web-based technology into the operation of the bank; (4) using the Internet or web-based technology to manage relationships with donors or collection sites and recipients; and (5) digitizing specimens. The all-digital repository would seem the most virtual of all possible repositories, a true cyberbank.

Building on student and faculty enthusiasm for Web resources, we addressed four significant questions as we revised a business communications class to incorporate the Internet: • What Web resources should we include? • How do we make sure we select high quality sites and assessment tools? • How do we effectively integrate Web tools with existing pedagogies? • Will students find Web assignments valuable, easy to access, and useful for course assignments? We integrated Web resources with other course pedagogies in the undergraduate business communications class and identified Websites relevant for teaching employment communication, including e-mail etiquette, online resumes, and elec tronic job searches. Student evaluations of our Web-enhanced course indicate that most found the Web-based assessments and tools accessible and valuable in fur thering their self-understanding and in leading them to explore other sites not required for class. We developed guidelines for using the new technology to support teaching and learning strategies.

This article examines the use of various Internet resources in education in the context of the global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The relevance of the research topic is determined by new requirements and trends in education in the era of distance learning. That is why recently it has become extremely important to introduce new educational technologies in the educational process, in particular in teaching a foreign language. The aim of the article is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of online learning and the impact of information technology on the learning process. The research was carried out using the analytical method and questionnaires. The article also raises the issue of using Internet resources and multimedia tools, which is the main way to provide distance learning using various communication platforms (Zoom, Hangouts, Teams, Skype, Moodle, and others) and social networks (Viber, Skype, WhatsApp, etc.). The result of the research presented in this article is the conclusion that the use of Internet resources and modern teaching aids of the new generation allows teachers to fill professional educational activities with new creative content and form, actively apply problematic, variable, innovative teaching methods, intensively use educational Web -sites, Internet portals.

Despite the recent uprising of the Web Services technology for programmatic interfaces of business-to-business (B2B) E-commerce services (e-services) over the Internet, most existing sites can only support human interactions with Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) through web browsers. Automating third-party client access into Web Services generally requires developing sophisticated programs to simulate human access by handling HTML pages. However, these HTML interfaces vary across web sites, and are often subject to changes. Client maintenance is therefore tedious and expensive. Even for the site owner, it may still require much effort in redeveloping the underlying presentation and application logics. This motivates our study for the requirement and the formulation of a conceptual model for such automation. Based on the requirement, we develop a novel approach to automating dialogs with web-based services (particularly for cross-organizational processes), using a high-level script language, called WebXcript language. The language provides features for HTML forms-based dialogues and eXtended Markup Language (XML) messaging. The XML syntax of WebXcript further enables convenient user authoring and easy engine development with extensively available XML tools. It supports expected responses and exception handling. We further propose a wrapper architecture based on WebXcript to integrate legacy sites into Web Services, where Web Service Definition Language (WSDL) interfaces are generated from high-level mappings from database or WebXcript parameter definitions. We demonstrate the applicability of our approach with examples in integrating distributed information, online ordering, and XML messaging, together with discussions on our experiences and the advantages of our approach.

Informational web sites on the World Wide Web (WWW) are another means for extension educators to transfer information to a clientele and provide access to new audiences. One of the problems inherent in the utilization of this new technology is the amount of effort required by those involved in order to become proficient enough to accomplish their goal of sharing information through a web site. Through the use of a HTML editor and the assistance from staff knowledgeable about the WWW, a web site on a main campus server was created by untrained off-campus personnel at a remote site to provide information on commercial vegetable production. Planning of the web site included targeting potential audiences, determining what information would be shared from the site, and building a team of extension and research personnel that would provide information and act as reviewers for web publications. Assistance in the form of graphics and general know how were supplied by departmental specialists. After development, the web site was maintained and refined on a regular basis through the utilization of the HTML editor and a web file transfer program.

Purpose – This study investigates the use of the internet by the largest companies based in Sweden and Spain to communicate their engagement in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. Its purpose is to analyse to what extent, if any, are there differences in the CSR communication on the web sites companies from these two countries. Design/methodology/approach – The paper examines CSR communication on the internet by companies based in Sweden and Spain. Non-parametric statistics are used to analyse some factors that influence disclosure, namely country, industry affiliation, profitability, and size. Findings – Findings suggest that in spite of the existence of a high degree of similarity between CSR communication practices, companies from Spain place social responsibility information in more prominent sections and devote more space to said information. Swedish companies are found to disclose more their codes of conduct/ethics and CSR-related press clips and published articles. Research limitations/implications – The sample is small. There may be content analysis issues associated with subjectivity in the coding process. Originality/value – It adds to the scarce research on CSR communication by companies in these countries by providing new empirical data and extends prior research comparing such practices in different international models of CSR.

The place of web-technologies in providing virtual user services and libraries’ strategic development is emphasized. Web-services in communication and information awareness, and other areas (e-mailing, teleconferences, mobile services for instant messaging, etc.), and the services to support building and hosting resources (www-sites, social media, podcasts, digital depositories) in library technological processes is defined. The examples of software solutions are given. Criteria for web-technology performance are introduced (efficiency, effectiveness, quality and others).

Informatic Study Program of Sumbawa University of Technology is a study program that has graduated many alumni, but so far there is no portal that can manage information regarding the whereabouts of its alumni. This causes the study program difficulties in getting the latest information of the alumni when needed. Therefore, in this research a website-based alumni information system was designed which aims to facilitate the Informatic Study Program of Sumbawa University of Technology in managing and searching for information related to alumni data. In building this system researchers used the PHP programming language with CodeIgniter Framework and MySQL as the database. Then for the development of this software is using Waterfall model. It is hoped that when this system is implemented it can be used by study programs and alumni in managing alumni information, making it easier and faster to conduct data collection and reporting of existing alumni data.

The management of university web sites is becoming more critical than before due to the rapid growth of the population dependent on the world wide web as the most important (if not the only) information source. A university can spread its research outcomes and education achievements through its web site, and consequently gain visibility and influence from the web population. Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (WR) proposed by Centre for Scientific Information and Documentation (CINDOC-CSIC), which ranks the university web sites, has obtained much attention recently. The rankings of WR are well recognized as an important index for universities willing to promote themselves by the internet technology. In this paper, we proposed WRES as an early warning system for Webometrics Rankings. WRES gathers the WR indices from the WWW automatically in flexible periods, and provides useful information in real time for the managers of university web sites. If the WR ranking of an institution is below the expected position according to their academic performance, university authorities should reconsider their web policy, by promoting substantial increases of the volume and quality of their electronic publications. Besides, the web site manages may adopt effective approaches to promote their WR rankings according to the hints given by WRES.

Purpose – This paper aims to report on research that tests the effectiveness of anti-phishing tools in detecting phishing attacks by conducting some real-time experiments using freshly hosted phishing sites. Almost all modern-day Web browsers and antivirus programs provide security indicators to mitigate the widespread problem of phishing on the Internet. Design/methodology/approach – The current work examines and evaluates the effectiveness of five popular Web browsers, two third-party phishing toolbar add-ons and seven popular antivirus programs in terms of their capability to detect locally hosted spoofed websites. The same tools have also been tested against fresh phishing sites hosted on Internet. Findings – The experiments yielded alarming results. Although the success rate against live phishing sites was encouraging, only 3 of the 14 tools tested could successfully detect a single spoofed website hosted locally. Originality/value – This work proposes the inclusion of domain name system server authentication and verification of name servers for a visiting website for all future anti-phishing toolbars. It also proposes that a Web browser should maintain a white list of websites that engage in online monetary transactions so that when a user requires to access any of these, the default protocol should always be HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure), without which a Web browser should prevent the page from loading.

The services and information offered in these web sites are discussed and used to describe the growth of internet usage in the real estate business.FindingsFrom the findings, most companies in Asia realised the importance of the internet as a marketing tool. This has been proved from the good average score of the internet business strategy attributes. The results indicated that top property companies in Asia implemented good internet business strategy.Research limitationsThe research is based on a study from the top 30 companies in Asia based on market capital values as at 30 June 2009. Only three countries were selected in this study: Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.Originality/valueThis paper examines the practice of property companies in Asia of using the internet as a marketing tool in property business in order to enhance the marketing strategy in this borderless world. The findings provided some insight and guidelines for the industry as well as academics on the use of information and communication technology in the property business.

At current stage tourist sites occupy a significant part of total number of Internet sites. E-tourism is the pressing topic for modern globalized society. But today the advantages of Internet´s impact on the tourism industry in Russia and the world at large are understudied. The article defines the role of Internet and satellite television in development new type of organization of tourism – e-tourism. This kind of organization of tourism has become very popular in Western Europe and in America, due to the development of information technologies and Internet expansion of Web-sites of many means of accommodation. Hotels with own Web-sites gives on their pages detailed information about the conditions of accommodation with an indication of the prices of all the services offered. When comparing the data of price-lists, we can note that they differ markedly in the price range from tourist agencies proposals. Internet capabilities are attractive to potential tourists. With their help he by himself can get acquainted with the country, he is going to visit, can learn about the attractions and hotels, as well as the living conditions in them. This paper explores the adoption of one of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools, i.e. the Internet and more particularly, the World Wide Web, by Eastern and Southern African governments as a means of facilitating interactions between the state and its citizens. It was observed that most governments in the region have constructed their own Web sites, some of which are up to date. English is the most com-monly used language to prepare the web sites. Other findings include: foreign missions recorded the highest number of web pages followed by political parties; the .com or .co Top Level Domain (TLD) generated most web pages followed by .ac or .edu in each country; most governments provide contact information as op-posed to sitemaps and feedback forms which recorded relatively few postings; governments with few web-pages and large quantities of in-links (including self-links) recorded high Web Impact Factors (WIFs); and only the South African government provided links to other Eastern and Southern African governments. Ethical issues regarding the analyzed variables as well as conclusions and recommendations are provided.

This study examined the effects of a Web site design project on students' motivation and achievement. Tenth-grade biology students worked together in teams on an ecology project that required them to locate relevant information on the Internet, decide which information should be included on their Web site, organize the information into Web pages, and link the pages together. A comparison group received traditional ecology instruction that included lectures and labs. Data sources included motivation questionnaires, achievement tests, student attitude questionnaires, and teacher interviews. While both groups showed similar achievement gains, the students that designed Web sites were more motivated than the students that received traditional instruction. Advantages and disadvantages of the Web site design project are reported and discussed. The results of this study indicate that it is feasible for a high-school teacher to use a student-as-designer model of instruction with Web-based technology.

Aplikasi absensi ini memberikan pemenuhan kebutuhan pengguna dalam memasukkan data, mengubah data, menghapus data, mencari data, menyaring data dan mencetak data. Sistem informasi ini dapat menjadi salah satu solusi yang dapat diunakan untuk mempermudah guru dalam pendataan murid, selain itu dengan adanya aplikasi ini membuat pekerjaan menjadi lebih mudah, cepat dan efisien. Di samping itu juga dapat mengawasi pendidikan siswa-siswi dalam kehadiran di madrasah dan membuat orang tua dapat mengetahui proses kegiatan belajar anak-anaknya.

Abstract: Networks for data communication were developed on computers and made the internet appear with many applications. The presentation of information generated from the internet is very diverse and depends on the needs of users. Information obtained by users, one of which is educational sites from elementary schools to tertiary institutions. Therefore, with the development of technology, Madrasah Aliyah Wasilatul Falah Banten designed a web-based real-time attendance information system. This attendance application provides fulfillment of user needs in entering data, changing data, deleting data, searching data, filtering data, and printing data. This information system can be one of the solutions that can be used to make it easier for teachers to collect student data, besides this application makes work easier, faster, and more efficient. In addition, it can also supervise the education of students in their attendance at madrasah and make parents know the process of their children's learning activities.

In this paper, the authors propose to design, develop and implement a service oriented prototype research electronic automated teller machine service using Windows Communication Foundation technology to study and predict some reliability aspects of web services. One master service is designed to authenticate a particular user to access services that is acting as a service broker and redirects the query to content service executing agents, acting as a service provider. The system has been implemented using C# programming language, Visual Studio.NET framework, Internet Information Service web server and Microsoft Structured Query Language database server. The authors present here the novel prototype architecture, testing procedures, HTTP transactional status and reliability analysis of the system under massive stress of consumers.

A distinct feature of the tool is its lightweight, web service based architecture, requiring only commodity hardware and a basic Internet connection for deployment. Access to visualisations of prediction data is achieved by using an extended version of the Open Geospatial Consortium Web Map Service (WMS) standard, a technology that has gained increased attention in meteorology in recent years. With the WMS approach, we avoid the transfer of large forecast model output datasets while enabling on-demand generated visualisations of the predictions at campaign sites with limited Internet bandwidth. Usage of the Web Map Service standard also enables access to third-party sources of georeferenced data. We have implemented the software using the open-source programming language Python. With technological progress, electronic devices go through stages of software develop-ment that allow them to perform additional, more complex tasks, and process a larger flow of information. Almost every-one between the ages of 10 and 60 owns a mobile device. So mobile apps are always up to date. Therefore, it is quite logi-cal to use the mobile application as an auxiliary element in the educational system, especially as it provides many services such as accessing the Internet, browsing the web, sending e-mails, exchanging multimedia messages and files and provid-ing instant messaging applications with audio and video. Focusing on employing technology in education and its curricula, regardless of its level, is considered very important. This work diagnoses what users prefer when using the e-learning appli-cation through a questionnaire distributed to a group of university students to collect data on their preferences regarding mobile applications for e-learning.

This paper reviews major issues of mobile technology and mobile web usage among university students, including characteristics, importance and problems faced by university students when accessing web sites through mobile devices. This article also reviews the technology adoption models/theories that will best explain the adoption of IT/IS. The author identified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as the best model in explaining adoption of mobile web because TAM is the most suitable in explaining behavioural intention in the context of mobile devices. Mobile Web is the World Wide Web which is accessed through a mobile device such as laptop computer, smart phone or tablet. It establishes the entirety of the Internet and is not limited to webpages which have been specifically designed to be viewed through mobile devices. Distinctive features of mobile technology especially mobile web technology and its progressive impacts on information transfer and learning process has created many educational opportunities for higher education institutions. Although mobile devices are highly flexible, accessible and convenient, students are still facing great problems when they use mobile web for educational purpose.

Abstract
Objective – To determine whether programming at public libraries in the United States is aimed at older adults, and whether the programs help older adults maintain their health and well-being.
Design – Web site evaluation.
Setting – Public libraries in the United States of America.
Subjects – The main library of each public library system located in the capital city of each of the 50 states in the United States of America.
Methods – A scan of each of the web sites of the selected public library branches was performed by the author, to determine the number of programs specifically directed towards older adults.
Main Results – The scan of sites indicated that there was very little programming specifically aimed at older adults and their needs. Mainly, offerings for older adults took the form of mixing in with adults of all ages. Computer technology class offerings were particularly lacking. The majority of libraries had programs to teach how to access library resources and electronic media (although not necessarily aimed at older adults), programs for those who are less mobile, as well as some adaptive
technology for those with sensory disabilities. In addition, the majority of libraries had adult literacy programs, and active collaboration with community organizations.
Conclusions – Public libraries can do more to develop programs specifically for older adults. They should take into account the wide diversity of older adults’ information and other needs. In particular, they should consider offering programs that focus on technological skills, and also should offer assistive technology for older patrons. There also needs to be more research on the needs of older adults, from the perspective of the patrons themselves and that of library staff.

This study reports the results of an experiment that examined alternative forms of web assurance for “B2C” e-commerce. Specifically, using a repeated measures design, variations in purchase intent were examined across four within-subjects web site conditions (two MP3 players and two digital cameras from different web sites) and five between-subjects assurance conditions (undirected or directed retailer disclosures, VISA, TRUSTe, and WebTrust™). The effects of assurance (present vs. absent) on purchase intent were studied relative to the roles of retailer disclosures, information risk (security, disclosure, and product risk), and familiarity (with the retailer and product). Control variables encompassing previous Internet and online purchase experiences, general intent to buy online, and web site design were also incorporated in the study. No differences in intent to purchase were found for the three assurance conditions and they were combined for further data analysis. Results indicate that higher intent to purchase is associated only with web assurance when consumers did not observe retailer disclosures and product familiarity was lower. When consumers did observe retailer disclosures, intent to purchase was not significantly associated with web assurance. Results also indicate that familiarity with vendor and information risk were not associated with intent to purchase. However, several of the control variables, including comfort with the Internet, general intent to buy online, and web site design, were significantly associated with higher intent to purchase.

The article explores the use of modern information technology by modern students studying at history department in the search for the necessary information. The work focuses on the ability of a student studying at history department to use the capabilities of the provided resources of the Internet correctly. It implies the ability to navigate electronic versions of libraries, archives and other sites of cultural and historical organizations, as well as the ability to select reliable information, which can sufficiently facilitate the search for high-quality material for writing all kinds of scientific papers. As a result of the analysis of statistical data regarding the popularity of the use of information offered by Internet resources, it was revealed that this topic is relevant nowadays. As a research task, the authors made an attempt to assess the nature of the use of Internet resources by students at the present stage. As a result, it was revealed that this issue has a number of contradictions. Methods of research. A significant part of the study is the description of reliable Internet resources that students studying at history department can use. These include the official sites of libraries, archives and museums. The results of the study showed that with the correct use of Internet resources offered on the World Wide Web, you can quickly find the necessary information and save time. It is concluded that nowadays it is necessary to continue developing the sites of cultural and historical organizations for the positive impact of electronic information sources on the quality of education, and it is also essential to build the information competence of students studying at history department.

AbstractFranchising is a business format which is becoming a global phenomenon in the contemporary business. Franchise systems extensively use modern information and communication technology (ICT) to enhance communication among franchisors and franchisees, and to provide interaction with end users. The aim of the paper is to highlight the importance of using the modern technology in franchise systems globally and need for more intensive use of ICT in our country and in neighboring countries, based on the comparative analysis of using the ICT and Internet in developed and less developed economies. The research was conducted through a comprehensive on-line analysis of franchisors’ web sites. In this paper, it is analyzed whether there is a connection between the franchisors and franchisees linking through web site and the number of given franchise. Correlation analysis showed a statistically significant strong positive correlation between the use of the web site for linking franchisors and their franchisees and the number of franchise units. It can be concluded that less use of modern technology and the Internet in developing countries affects the slower expansion of the franchise units network than in developed countries where the use of ICT and the Internet is at a much higher level.

Information management includes multimedia data management, knowledge management, collaboration, and agents, all of which are supporting technologies for XML. XML technologies have an impact on multimedia databases as well as collaborative technologies and knowledge management. That is, e-commerce documents are encoded in XML and are gaining much popularity for business-to-business or business-to-consumer transactions. Recently, the internet sites, such as e-commerce sites and shopping mall sites, deal with a lot of image and multimedia information. This paper proposes an intelligent web digital image information retrieval platform, which adopts XML technology for social curation commerce environment. To support object-based content retrieval on product catalog images containing multiple objects, we describe multilevel metadata structures representing the local features, global features, and semantics of image data. To enable semantic-based and content-based retrieval on such image data, we design an XML-Schema for the proposed metadata. We also describe how to automatically transform the retrieval results into the forms suitable for the various user environments, such as web browser or mobile device, using XSLT. The proposed scheme can be utilized to enable efficient e-catalog metadata sharing between systems, and it will contribute to the improvement of the retrieval correctness and the user’s satisfaction on semantic-based web digital image information retrieval.
