Früher war das Schicksal älterer Bücher das Antiquariat, das ihnen ein vorzeitiges Ende zu ersparen suchte. Aber auch diese Institution stirbt allmählich aus – wer will noch alte Bücher? Von solchen Erfahrungen erzählt Inge Jens in ihrem letzten Buch Am Schreibtisch. Thomas Mann und seine Welt (2013). Sie erinnert darin an einen wenig bekannten Aspekt von Bergengruens Leben, seine Verbindung mit der ,,Weißen Rose“, der Inge Jens ein Buch gewidmet hat:

ZusammenfassungIngrid Belke (geb. 11.02.1935 in Falkensee/Berlin – gest. 24.09.2017 in Stuttgart) war ein einzigartiger und außergewöhnlicher Mensch, als Persönlichkeit und als Wissenschaftlerin. Als ich sie im Zusammenhang mit der Veröffentlichung ihrer pionierhaften Doktorarbeit über Josef Popper-Lynkeus und die Reformbewegung des Wiener Bürgertums (1978) kennengelernt habe, war ich von ihrer Offenheit, Gelehrsamkeit und aufgeklärten Gesinnung sofort beeindruckt. Wir schlossen schnell persönliche Freundschaft und haben uns seitdem regelmäßig in zahlreichen Gesprächen und Briefen ausgetauscht. Diese anregenden Begegnungen bezogen sich auf die gemeinsamen Interessen wie die Wiener Moderne, Karl Popper und die österreichische Philosophie, die Zeitgeschichtsschreibung, nicht zuletzt auf das durchgehende Thema von Emigration und Exil. Selbstverständlich hat Inge an unserem großen Symposium „Vertriebene Vernunft“ (1987) teilgenommen und sich mehrmals an den Veranstaltungen des Instituts Wiener Kreis mit Wort und Schrift bis zum Ende ihres Lebens nachhaltig beteiligt. Zuletzt tat sie dies eindrucksvoll an der Konferenz „Logischer Empirismus, Lebensreform und die Deutsche Jugendbewegung“ im Jahre 2016 mit ihrem wohl letzten Vortrag, nämlich über Friedrich Jodl (1894–1914), den deutsch-österreichischen Philosophen des Monismus und der Ethischen Bewegung. Dieser Vortragstext ist nun in gekürzter Fassung im vorliegenden Band als eine Art geistiges Vermächtnis der Autorin abgedruckt. Der Text spiegelt ihre lebenslange Beschäftigung mit der Wiener Kulturbewegung der Jahrhundertwende um 1900 und schließt einen thematischen Kreis ihrer radikal aufgeklärten Gesinnung seit ihrer Dissertation. Dieses Interesse an Wien verband Inge immer auch mit ihren persönlichen Kontakten, zum Beispiel mit dem Schriftsteller-Paar Elisabeth Freundlich und Günther Anders, oder mit dem Volksbildner und kurzzeitigen Kulturpolitiker Viktor Matejka, mit dem wir beide befreundet waren. Karl Popper, mit dem Inge lange eng verbunden war und dessen Autobiographie sie mitübersetzte, hatte sie eingeladen, seine Biographie zu schreiben, was sie aber nach längerem Zögern ablehnte. Der entsprechende Briefwechsel im Popper-Nachlass stellt eine beeindruckende Quelle für diese persönliche und geistige Zusammenarbeit dar.

Inspiriert von einem a-topischen Stadtrundgang in Bamberg setzt sich Ingo Juchler mit der Beziehung des Menschen zu anderen Tieren auseinander. Dabei wird zunächst der Anthropozentrismus überblicksartig reflektiert. Im Weiteren steht der Berliner Tiergarten im Fokus, wo sich menschliche und tierliche Geschichten überlagern und der sich für einen realen Stadtrundgang zu diesen Themen äußerst gut eignet: vom privilegierten Jagdrevier der Hohenzollern zur Öffnung für die Berliner Bevölkerung und der Einrichtung des Zoologischen Gartens, als Ort demokratischer Aufbrüche 1848, 1918 und 1968 bis zur Loveparade als größter Party der Welt, von Tierrechten und antirassistischem Aktivismus.

In various practically relevant incompressible flow problems, such as polymer flow or biomedicalengineering applications, the dependence of fluid viscosity on the local shear rate plays an impor-tant role. Standard techniques using inf-sup stable finite elements lead to saddle-point systemsposing a challenge even for state-of-the-art solvers and preconditioners.For efficiency, projection schemes or time-splitting methods decouple the governing equations forvelocity and pressure, resulting in more, but easier to solve linear systems. Doing so, boundaryconditions and correction terms at intermediate steps have to be carefully considered in order toprohibit spoiling accuracy. In the case of Newtonian incompressible fluids, pressure and velocitycorrection schemes of high-order accuracy have been devised (see, e.g. [1, 2]). However, the exten-sion to generalised Newtonian fluids is a non-trivial task and considered an open question. Deteixet al. [3] successfully adapted the popular rotational correction scheme to consider for shear-ratedependent viscosity, but this resulted in substantial numerical overhead caused by necessarily pro-jecting viscous stress components.In this contribution we address this shortcoming and present a split-step scheme, extending pre-vious work by Liu [4]. The new method is based on an explicit-implicit treatment of pressure,convection and viscous terms combined with a Pressure-Poisson equation equipped with fully con-sistent Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions. Through proper reformulation, the use ofstandard continuous finite element spaces is enabled due to low regularity requirements. Addition-ally, equal-order velocity-pressure pairs are applicable as in the original scheme.The stability, accuracy and efficiency of the higher-order splitting scheme is showcased in challeng-ing numerical examples of practical interest.[1] Karniadakis, G. <p>In order to investigate the fatigue crack propagation characteristic of the rib-to-deck joint consider- ing welding residual stress, the finite element model of the orthotropic steel bridge deck was estab- lished for the typical box girder of a cable-stayed bridge. Considering the effect coupled with the residual stress field, the initial crack and the fatigue load, the fatigue crack propagation at the rib- to-deck joint was simulated based upon the extended finite element method (XFEM). The simulation result of the residual stress shows that there is a large residual tensile stress in the welding area of the rib-to-deck detail, and the peak value of the Von-Mises stress at the rib-to-deck joint close to the yield stress of Q345 material. The results of fatigue crack propagation behaviour display that the fatigue crack at the weld toe is led by mode I, which could keep in the plane during the crack prop- agation. And the fatigue crack at the weld root is mix mode I-III crack led by mode I, which cannot keep in the plane during the crack propagation, but slightly deflection.</p>

Real estate has always had great importance in law and legal transactions. They are part of the country, part of the territory of the state. For this reason, the need for registring the rights to immovable properties dates long ago inte the past. And in the modern legislations imovables enjoy a special legal regime of public registration. In our legal system, this is expressed through the existence of a special public book for recording rights to immovable property - cadastre of immovable properties, which ensures legal certainty in legal transactions. Immovable property rights are acquired, transferred, limited and terminated by registration in a public book. Non-observance of these rules leads to legal uncertainties, abstinence from legal transactions of real estate and problems in practice. For these reasons a public book for the registration of real estate rights, is of great importance for the protection of property rights and other real rights and the development of real estate markets. Consistent observance of the principle of faith in a public book, accuracy of data, as well as the existence of procedural guarantees - legal remedies are from exceptional significance for legal security in the civil law relations. Without them, the realization of legal certaintie is brought into question. In this work, the author points the role and significance of the Cadastre services as a key factor of legal certainty. Also throw the solutions of the comparative law, and current problems in practice, he is presenting the solutions in the new proposal of Cadastral Laws for strengthening the legal regulation in the Macedonian Law.

A chronological historiography of Mies van der Rohe’s architecture uncovers a constant reassessment of his work by critics in changing eras. By the 1990’s he was reassessed as a more complex figure than previously understood. Publications, such as, The Presence of Mies, and, Mies in Berlin/America revealed new ways to conceptualize his work. Today he’s a well-worn symbol of the elite European architect in a necessary, refresh¬ing, and fruitful landscape of broader inclusivity. However, in the canon of Western Modern Architecture Mies is the most mysterious; an architect who conceals multitudes with his silence. Mies’s works are like tofu, his buildings act as tabula rasa in which new meanings can be absorbed within the constant, restless, and shifting tastes of architectural scholarship. Mies cultivated this mystery by saying one thing and doing another. Like Andy Warhol he reduced explanations of his design process to the point of rationalist banality. But a closer understanding of Mies’s philosophy betrays a much deeper surface. A new English translation of highlighted passages in Mies’s personal copy of Romano Guardini’s “Der Gegensatz” (The Opposite), gives a clue into how mysteries within Mies’s works are cultivated. For Mies, these passages revised the understanding of dualities as laid out by classic German philosophy. Hegel supported the synthesis of contradiction through a reposed resolution, but this passage declares an irreducible simultaneity present within paradox. Architecture is a relevant discipline for exploring dualities because it is a discipline steeped in both the rational and the spiritual, serving immediate and abstract needs. Reframing a transitional period in Mies’s career—the projects for the Ulrich Lange and Hubbe House—within the context of his meditations on Guardini reveals a new complexity embedded in the work. His quest to understand the nature of dualities is the underlying flavor of his work after the 1920s.

Der Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb Nordrhein-Westfalen (BLB NRW) gehört zu den großen Auftraggebern von Bauleistungen am Markt und ist interessiert an Optimierungspotenzialen (u. a. hinsichtlich Zeit, Kosten, Nachhaltigkeit) bei seinen Baustellenabläufen. Der Einsatz von Baurobotern bildet hierbei eine vielversprechende Option, welche u. a. im Hinblick auf aktuelle Entwicklungsstände (TRL), Einsatzpotenziale sowie technische, logistische und regulatorische Randbedingungen eruiert werden muss. Vor diesem Hintergrund war der BLB auf der Suche nach Beratungsleistungen im genannten Themenfeld. Die vorliegende Studie legt den aktuellen Stand von Technologien, Prozessen und Maschinen dar, zeigt Entwicklungstrends auf und ordnet die Möglichkeiten und Herausforderungen bezüglich eines zeitnahen und praxistauglichen Einsatzes von Baurobotiksystemen unter Beachtung geltender Regularien ein. Der Bericht fasst die Ergebnisse der Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten der GWT-TUD GmbH (GWT) zusammen, welche stellvertretend durch die beiden Projektleiter Prof. Dr.-Ing.
