Abstract:

Abstract The article presents modern car industry and tourism issues. It is a case study of a multifunctional centre - the Audi Forum Ingolstadt, situated next to a large Audi factory in Ingolstadt, Germany. It was created in order to promote the Audi brand and provide service for the customers picking up their cars in Ingolstadt. It also performs tourist functions as it focuses on providing service for the people who arrive to visit the car factory, the Audi museum mobile and the region. The centre offers specific tourist products based on particular experiences, which may be included in industrial tourism. The facilities in the Audi Forum Ingolstadt are tourist assets in themselves; they may also be seen as tourist infrastructure. It is also a place where numerous events are held, attracting tourists. The Audi Forum Ingolstadt is an example of a multifunctional centre with distinctive tourist functions, situated on the premises of a large modern car factory.

Abstract:

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) are expected to be the next big step towards safer road transport, supporting applications to exchange information between vehicles. To develop novel applications for this area a high number of tests, considering all traffic situations, are demanded. However, it is unfeasible to reproduce these tests in real life, by the fact that any failure on the applications would cause severe impacts on transport system safety and could risk human lives. Thus, this paper presents the concept, model, and validation for InTAS, a realistic traffic scenario for Ingolstadt. InTAS’ road topology accurately represents Ingolstadt’s real road map. Elements such as buildings, bus stops, and traffic lights were added to the map. Twenty traffic lights systems were simulated according to the real program deployed on the traffic lights. Traffic demand was modeled based on the activitygen method, considering demographic data and real-traffic information. The city’s public transport system was also simulated accordingly to bus time-tables and their routes. The simulation step was implemented considering the best value for device.rerouting.probability, which was defined by evaluating InTAS’ output and real traffic data. The scenario was validated by comparing real-traffic data from 24 measurement points with InTAS’ simulation results.

It is possible, however, to establish that Grotius's book on the law of war and peace did influence the Westphalian negotiations. Abstract:

Abstract The explosion at the Ingolstadt oil refinery was widely recorded at seismic and infrasound stations deployed throughout Central Europe, to distances of several hundred to a thousand kilometres. This study focuses on the wealth of data recorded at infrasound stations in Central and Eastern Europe, while from the many detecting seismic stations within 400 km range, only seismic and seismo-acoustic arrivals at the close-in Gräfenberg array are considered here. Most of the infrasound stations are acoustic arrays enabling us to apply array processing techniques to determine relevant wave field parameters, such as backazimuth and slowness (resp. trace velocity). These parameters not only confirm the source direction, but also put constraints on the observed arrivals’ propagation modes. Wave field parameters suggest that we observe tropospheric arrivals to about 150 km and stratospheric and/or thermospheric returns for longer distances. 1D, 2D and 3D ray tracing predict tropospheric arrivals to westerly directions up to distances of 100 km, beyond which only thermospheric returns are obtained azimuth-independent beyond 250–300 km. Stratospheric returns do not follow from any of the increasingly complex ray tracing models. Parabolic equation propagation modeling however suggests that in a number of cases stratospheric ducting may be possible. However, neither the tropospheric seismo-acoustic arrivals at the Gräfenberg array nor the various arrivals at IMS station IS26 could be modeled. Therefore, the Ingolstadt explosion along with the observed infrasonic phases provide an excellent test bed to investigate our ability in realistically forecasting atmospheric wave propagation with existing algorithms and available atmospheric models.

However, use of salts and snow ploughing have environmental as well as economical disadvantages. To resolve these problems, hydronic road heating systems are valid alternatives. Heat transfer fluid, i.e. mixture of ethanol and water, is pumped into a tubular circulation system under the asphalt. By this technology, the road and pavements shall stay ice-free even in times of snowfall and temperatures below the freezing point. The system can also be used to cool the asphalt in case of extreme heat, which – besides the heating effect – could also prevent road from damages in extreme summers. This study aims to compare the environmental impact of use of salts and road-heating system in terms of GHG emissions. To assess the environmental impact, an operational road heating system for a ramp in Ingolstadt, Germany, is considered. A cradle-to-grave analysis technique is used to determine the environmental effects based on a life-cycle assessment (LCA) framework. The analysis includes nine components solemnly responsible for hydronic heating of asphalt surface such as local heating pipe, insulation, pumps, and heat meters. Comparison is performed in terms of relative and total impact over 50-year lifetime of three heated ramps having 1989 m2 surface area in total. The results show that the asphalt and heating-circuit causes the major fraction (65 %) of overall GHG emissions, with total life-time emissions of 28.10 kg CO2 eq./m2 of heated surface. During an operational life of 50 years, road heating systems emit 18 % less CO2 eq./m2 as compared to the use of salts.

Purpose Since 2012, the University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt has been publishing an annual report on sustainability as part of its whole institution approach (WIA). This study aims to examine the participation in writing this report as it is experienced by the student stakeholders involved. The overall goal is to gain expertise concerning further improvement of students’ participation in sustainability-related aspects as part of WIAs. Design/methodology/approach The research is based on an explorative, qualitative study conducted at the Roman Catholic University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt. Students who have been involved in writing the university’s report on sustainability were interviewed, using in-depth, semi-structured interviews. Findings Various categories relevant for a successful participation have been found. Foremost, there are no general barriers seen which are hindering students from participating in writing the reports. Specific students’ motivation can be gained from work-related experiences and sustainability-related university classes. Students perceived the effects of their work as mostly restricted to the university. Their intellectual contribution was regarded as limited owing to structures given and their student worker status. Positive effects included an increased awareness of sustainability-related activities at the university and increased competences regarding research and writing. Suggestions for improvement comprised the instalment of databanks, special sustainability report-writing classes and motivational measures. Originality/value Very few studies have addressed the issue of student participation within the WIAs towards sustainable universities. Students’ involvement in writing university reports on sustainability has so far been neglected. Given this, the study presented provides insight into students’ participation and reveals fields needing further development to ensure successful WIAs.

W metryce akademii w Dillingen wpisano w 1623 r. dwa listy polecające opiece rektora Mikołaja i Franciszka, synów Mikołaja Daniłowicza. Autorem pierwszego jest ojciec chłopców, drugiego jezuita Mikołaj Łęczycki. Stały się one podstawą do rozważań o zagranicznej edukacji szlacheckiej, konkretnie o nauce Daniłowiczów. Szczyt znaczenia tej rodziny przypadł na 2 połowę XVI i 1 połowę XVII w., kiedy należeli do elity państwa polsko-litewskiego. Daniłowiczowie uzupełniali edukację poza granicami Rzeczypospolitej. Z racji wyznania wybierali ośrodki jezuickie – Ingolstadt, Dillingen, Lowanium, jeździli także do Włoch. Listy zawierają prośby do rektora o opiekę nad młodzieńcami oraz wskazówki, czego powinni się uczyć i jak należy z nimi postępować. Na końcu zamieszczone są tłumaczenia listów.

The identity of the Early High German author Johannes Hartlieb, who had been working as a court physician in Munich since 1441, with a pleban of the same name who was installed in Ingolstadt in 1436/37, was repeatedly called into question. The comparison of a letter of this pleban with autograph documents of the Munich court physician confirms now that both are the same person. Die Lebensstationen des frühneuhochdeutschen Autors Johannes Hartlieb vor dessen Zeit als Münchener Hofarzt (1441–1468) waren in der Forschung bislang umstritten. Durch den Schriftvergleich eines Briefes des 1436–1437 belegten Ingolstätter Plebans Johannes Hartlieb mit den autographen Dokumenten des Münchener Hofarztes, kann nun gezeigt werden, dass es sich bei beiden um dieselbe Person handeln.

During the 16th century, Neo-Latin epic poets in Germany strove for protection and patronage by means of their work, just as their precursors in the Italian Quattrocento. An example par excellence of such a poet – who, however, eventually failed – was Johann Engerd (born in 1547), professor for poetics at the university of Ingolstadt. In the following paper, the author presents Engerd’s biography and gives a general overview of his literary production. In a second step, the author discusses in more detail his epic poems which celebrate particular powerful families whose protection Engerd was seeking: the Montfort, the Fugger, and the Madruzzo families. The special focus in our discussion rests on the literary technique and the self-fashioning of the author in his works.
