I did not become a farmer or railroader like generations of my family before me–but I continue to rely on my hands and physical labor. The use of my hands as tools to construct through woodworking and metal fabrication techniques becomes a musing action. Using wood and metal as materials, I develop structures in an exploratory way to frame the endless process of making. When I lose myself in this progression of forms, I allow myself to breathe.

This study examined the relationship between lung capacity, speech volume and duration of utterances. 8 adult subjects, 4 males and 4 females (24-36 yrs), participated. By breathing into a digital spirometer, lung capacities such as Vital Capacity (VC) and Inspirational Capacity (IC) were estimated. Pulmonary delivery offers an attractive route for delivering chemotherapeutics, with the benefits of high drug concentrations locally and low side effects systemically. However, fast clearance of small molecules in the lungs and the pulmonary toxicity are the main obstacles in this field. In this thesis, we explored the utility of polyethylene glycol-paclitaxel (PEG-PTX) conjugates to achieve sustained drug release in the lungs. Paclitaxel was linked to 6 kDa and 20 kDa PEG and the conjugates showed good stability and cytotoxicity in vitro. PEG-PTX largely increased the maximum tolerated dose

Abstract:
The use of polar anti-solvents for the crystallisation of lactose from 10% (w/v) aqueous solutions has been investigated. Crystal growth was observed at 50-65% antisolvent content and showed a morphological transition from polyhedral to needle-like habit with increasing antisolvent content, which coincided with a polymorphic transition from alpha lactose monohydrate (t:a. H20) to beta lactose (L~). Where anhydrous dehydrating antisolvents were employed such a~ methanol and ethanol, evidence of La. H20 dehydration to form stable anhydrous alpha lactose (Las) was also observed at 95% antisolvent

Autostereoskopische Monitore ermöglichen das spontane dreidimensionale Betrachten des gezeigten Inhaltes, ohne dass zusätzliche Betrachtungshilfen notwendig sind. Eine solche räumliche Wahrnehmung kann auch für die Kartographie vielfaltige neue Visualisierungsmöglichkeiten bieten. Allerdings wurden dafür bisher kaum Gestaltungsregeln formuliert. Gerade das ist aber notwendig, um das Potential dieser 3D-Monitore richtig nutzen zu können.
