Abstract:
My Master of Fine Arts research project focuses on installation and sculpture that embodies the themes of Buddhism and War. My artwork examines how the two themes interact and influence each other. Making art, for me, is an intensely personal process of rediscovering myself. The project is an attempt to create a visual conversation between my personal experiences, memories and imagination. In particular, I explore the collective memory of the people of Hue in relation to the immediate past, and the longer historical heritage of the city and the region. The following study investigates the impact of the secular processes present in Early Modern Japan on Matsuo Bashō's prose. The theoretical basis for exploring this development is found in Durkheim’s distinction between the transcendent and the immanent, as well as the theoretical framework for secularism. The exploration of Bashō's writings is conducted through several key themes: self-presentation, people, religious concepts, nature and aestheticisms. From these categories a complex pattern emerges. It illustrates the enduring nature of the contemporary world-views through numerous reference

Classical music performance has long been perceived as the domain of people with talent. This pervasive way of thinking can inhibit individuals from reaching their true musical potential. I argue that this problem has to do with the habitual performing and teaching practices based upon the body-mind dualism, which ignores intrinsically connected qualities of the performing body and mind. In this project, I aimed to understand the intrinsic malleable capacity, or my terms, the malleable inner self, as the intrinsic measurement for lifelong learning and growth in the context of musical performan
