Full textThis thesis deals with the question : how to innovate with user communities ? As a matter of fact, user communities play an important role in the conception and diffusion of innovations. Addressing communities seems to be a solution for including users in the innovation processes of firms. However, innovation may then be so far from the company's strategy and its business model that it loses all its value for the company. To surmount this problem, one must consider innovation as the only process which crosses the boundaries of both types of organization. The Community remains outside the firm, but numerous links and common boundaries develop between the two entities. The company divides up its exploration and operating activities in a network which brings together the company and the user community. It builds common boundaries with the community without necessarily trying to manage it. It provides Open Tool Boxes for innovating in multi-sided platforms in virtual environments which help to facilitate creation, to generate innovations and to manage the user community. It aims at innovators who may be in the process of constructing or strengthening identities. In fact, innovation with user communities makes it possible to improve the alignment between technology and the market, and to reduce the strained relationship between operating and exploration activities by dividing up innovation in a network that brings together the company and communities

Full textThis thesis aims at studying the impact of interpersonal networks on the innovativeness of inventors. The academic literature underlined the strong relation between interpersonal networks and interpersonal cooperation. The cooperative behaviour appears as the best way to success in an innovative project, a complex project. We make here the hypothesis according to which repeated collaborations in a network of inventors have an influence on their innovativeness. We chose to study more particularly the capacity to innovate of strongly productive inventors by mobilizing data on the co-inventors of patents. We run an empirical study concerning 1157 French prolific inventors who obtained 30477 patents over the period 1975-2002. The results of the logistic regression confirm our hypothesis and show a significant impact of repeated collaborations on the capacity of prolific inventors to innovate

Full textThis research focuses on the field of collaboration between customer and supplier to improve their capability to innovate together. By considering collaboration as a process. It means that its performance could be managed and so improved, under the condition that it could be measurable. To address this issue, we have established a method and created a tool to evaluate the collaboration capability between a customer and its supplier in the context of an innovation project. By using this tool, the partners can obtain a better representation of their collaboration practices and a potential improvement plan adapted to the characteristics of the developed project and the quality of the relationship. The major results of this research include: 1) a qualification of the collaboration process through 18 collective practices, which are evaluated using maturity grids; 2) the proposal of a global indicator called “Potential Collaboration/Co-innovation Index (PCCI)”, which allows to classify the collaboration according to 4 categories: organized, supportive, aligned and fusional; 3) To generate the associated improvement plan. Furthermore, testing our tool on several case studies has enabled us to prove its robustness

Full textThis thesis is devoted to the study of entrepreneurial support in a perspective of innovation. It implements an empirical research through the combination of both qualitative and quantitative approaches, allowing to explore the contribution of the entrepreneurial support from a perspective of innovation.A theoretical analysis of main concepts in the field of innovation and entrepreneurial support, allows to highlight a conceptual framework adapted to study the SMS’s entrepreneurial support in order to innovate. This research aims to study the entrepreneurial support practices which may have an impact on the success of the leader for the creation of an innovative project phase. To do this, we have adopted a process that combines two complementary approaches. A qualitative study, which aimed to explore the forms and practices of support mobilized in a process of identification and exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities, as well as the personal perceptions of successful leaders. The quantitative study was conducted among two hundred leaders installed in the Lorraine region, including the Regional Actions device for the New Development Activities (ARDAN). Among our key findings, human capital determines the success of innovative projects, but does not fully explain. Our research has also demonstrated that social capital is a practical support to improve the chances of developing innovative projects

Full textFew economic contributions have been dedicated to the understanding of how Network structures influence knowledge dynamics and innovation, which is the main concern of the thesis. The latter provides both theoretical and emperical insights on such issue. We first review the formal analysis of organization design and propose an emperical analysis of how such design influences ICT adoption. Next we study the effects of firms'internal design and external relations organization on their propensity to innovate. Moreover, the thesis provides a theoretical model which allows us to study the emergence of networks through a dynamic process in which agents strategically choose the agents with whom they may want to interact. The model shows how such network architectures strongly determine the accumulation of knowledge, the diffusion of ideas and innovative performance at both individual and aggregate levels

Full textIt is now common knowledge to develop an ambidextrous organization in a firm to guarantee a competitive advantage in its environment. Such perspective is rooted in James March’s model (1991) whose purpose is to sustain organizational learning through adaptive mechanisms between agents. This model anchored in the tradition of problem-solving offers a behavioural approach coping with biases and heuristics of bounded rationality. In contrast, with literature models studying the balance between exploration and exploitation activities (ambidexterity), we demonstrate how exploration can be more generative if it uses exploitation constraints as prior knowledge to generate concepts. These rely on positively conditioning them by decision-making parameters contributing to exploitation. New decision situations are designed instead of traditionally selecting explorations. This model - decisional ambidexterity-allows building up projects capable of exploring conditions overcoming limitations and performances of exploitation. A collaborative research conducted at Zodiac Aerospace allowed revealing such new model. It extends organizational ambidexterity into the unknown, more adapted to innovation management & governance, whilst precising how to drive organization metabolisms inducing change among participating organizations in a conglomerate of SMEs

Full textThis dissertation addresses the following question: “How to innovate in a traditional craft?” It is based on a qualitative empirical study conducted within the specific sector of French landscaping. After having introduced this sector, a conceptualization of tradition is suggested as a starting point. The question is then treated successively at four distinct levels of analysis—from the individual to the societal level—with adequate conceptual frameworks (i.e. innovation intermediation, institutional work, and tetranormalization). The overall dissertation raises several theoretical contributions, as well as managerial implications for both firms and institutions, either related to traditional craft or not. Finally, many fruitful research avenues dedicated to the relationship between innovation and tradition are identified

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to study innovation from a microscopic perspective through the discursive micro practices which construct innovation daily. Inspired by the process perspective of the organization (“organizing ”) and strategy (“strategizing”), this work proposes to stud y innovating. Innovation is then considered as a social process constructed daily through the actions of actors in interaction, through communicational practices. In this context, meetings, since they are both structured by and structuring to the organization, provide an analytical framework that allows privileged access to communicational practices and practitioners of innovation. Given the process and social nature of the object of research, this work is based on an ethnomethodological perspective to understand and analyze innovation’s communicational routines, practices, and patterns in the context in which they occur. Then, from the case study of a corrugate d packaging manufacturer, thi s work highlights the specific characteristics of the meetings and how they contribute to innovating

Full textFor twenty-five years now the french commercial landseape has undergone widespread change. Retail is very closely linked to demographic development, which is, combined with changes in the economy, largely responsable for the transformations of the consumer's behavior and lifestyle. In fact competition in the retail sector is very intense and it encourages the appearance of new types of outlets which reply to the new needs of the consumer. For this main reason the experts place hypermarkets in the critical zone of maturity in the retail life cycle. However the end of the 1980's is characterized by the desire of hypermarket directors to stay competitive by innovating their management methods. It is from this observation that we propose to define the characteristics of hypermarkets, according to whether they are more or less innovative, and to evaluate their performances. To do this, we have sought inspiration in existing works on the evolution of retail institutions. These studies have lead us to conclude on the importance of innovation as a factor for evolution and performance

Full textWhat environmental law for which society? With a method that combines a socio-anthropological examination and a legal examination, this thesis raises the question for New Caledonia, through an analysis of the recent past, contemporary difficulties and a re-foundation made possible by an evolution of legal thought and by means of tools developed recently elsewhere, which have made it possible, for example, to recognize the legal personality of elements of nature.Recognized as a global hotspot of biodiversity, with the exploitation of its huge nickel resources being a major environmental threat, how does New Caledonia, nearly 150 years after its annexation by France and its commitment for thirty years on the path of decolonization, fare in protecting its natural environment? The answer we get from the study of positive law, institutions, comparative law, speeches and field work is clear: the law applicable today in New Caledonia is the result of an exogenous rationalization of social relations. It is in fact unsuited to the cultural context of the Pacific. Balanced Man-Nature relations have been "disenchanted" by Christianization, colonization and scientific rationalization. As in many places, in New Caledonia, the sacredness that characterized these relationships has been sidelined in favor of what we have chosen to call "Noah’s complex" and which has become the foundation of any environmental policy. Our diagnosis on the limits of the current environmental law, reveals in detail the shortcomings of contemporary institutional engineering, based on political concerns for a peaceful management of a plural society and for rebalancing between communities and territories to compensate for underdevelopment due to past mistakes. However, there is a favorable context in recent years to re-enchant the legal protection of nature and its elements. Governments or judges in other latitudes recognize the legal personality of elements of nature. It is now possible to go beyond a restrictive conception of legal pluralism as the tight coexistence of irreconcilable legal orders and to advance towards a hybridization of the endogenous right and a legal order associated with the forms of the modern state. We will closely follow the co-construction, with the populations and the customary authorities, by the Loyalty Islands Province, of a negotiated environmental law and innovative principles that finally allow to fully take into account within positive law the Kanak vision of nature. Thanks to a participative method of elaboration of the law, it appears that we can reconcile the pluralisms (cultural, social, political and legal) of New Caledonia in the 21st century, within the framework of a negotiated law that is the only guarantee for the effectiveness of the law to protect the natural environment in a context of global environmental change
Jolly, Clara. "Innover pour la périphérie : recherche agronomique publique et développement de machinisme approprié pour l’agriculture familiale en Argentine." Thesis, Montpellier 3, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019MON30030.
Full textIn Argentina in the early 2000s, the world of public agricultural research focused on the development of appropriate machinery for family farming. Family farming, which became a category of public and scientific action at the same time, refers to farmers working their land without employing paid labor. This model differs from the agri-business model, which focuses on the production of raw materials for exportation, which has grown considerably in Argentina since the 1990s.The thesis first focuses on the establishment of such machinery and its subsequent development in relation to family farming within Argentinean agricultural research, around the creation of new institutes specially dedicated to research and technological development for family farming (Ipaf). These institutions are particularly unique in that they are based on the reference of the concept of "appropriate technologies". Born in Europe in the 1960s, this concept is grounded on a strong criticism of conventional technologies, while at the same time proposing the development of simple, local, small-scale and decentralized technologies. After having observed the trajectory of circulation, made of hybridizations, of the concept of appropriate technologies in Latin America, we will present how it has been mobilized by Argentinean public agronomic research in the specific context of the 2000s. This context, politically marked by Kirchnerism, has seen the establishment of a mandate to put science and technology at the service of social inclusion. The thesis then focuses in detail on the work carried out by the engineers responsible for developing machines suitable for family farming. We return to two specific cases, namely the design and manufacture of quinoa post-harvest machines and the development of a semi-mechanized harvester prototype. We present how engineers are working on different fronts. They designed models, found funds to prototype them, participated in manufacturing, but also sought public funding to enable small producers to acquire the machines. We analyse this specific method of intervention, which is oriented towards the achievement of a mission, which is to ensure that innovations reach small producers. Finally, we present the way in which public agricultural research agents have, at the heart of this state-led project, interacted with the private sector and attempted to build a sector of machine manufacturers for family farming. This last theme is all the more complex in the context of technologies for family farming, where it is a question of considering the development of markets for impoverished individuals, or at least those with low or very low purchasing power. This thesis provides a detailed analysis of the role of public agricultural research in supporting family agriculture, and the changing relationships in science, technology and politics in a peripheral country like Argentina

Full textWith the spread of new technologies and the advent of economic and social changes, the volume of parcels has grown in France. Parcel deliveries in cities have similarly experienced an important increase. Deliveries have become more and more complex because of changing client patterns, urban constraints and cities' concerns for sustainability. The growing complexity of the ‘last mile' delivery poses economic, organizational, environmental and political challenges to parcel providers. Putting the spatial organization of cities back at the heart of the creation of new logistics organizations and integrating spatial studies to urban logistics techniques and tools, in particular in modelling, can be means of innovation. Until now spatial studies have been largely under-used in UF. This study will provide an in-depth analysis of the relationships between urban spatial organization, urban form and UF. Based on those results, the thesis provides the first elements of a spatial urban freight modelling approach. The modelling approach will enable the creation of a decision support tool able to identify homogeneous urban zones based on urban form, economic and political characteristics in order to offer the most suitable delivery solution to each zone of a city

Full textOne of the most important challenges in the current industrial policy of developed and emerging countries is to support innovation in SMEs, issue which has been approach as a problem only dependent on the availability of resources. Innovation capability does not have an appropriate framework of evaluation, mainly because of its complexity and abstract nature. Without proper indicators, it is not possible to establish objectives and identify the efforts and resources necessary for its improvement. In response to this, the ERPI laboratory has developed an evaluation approach of innovation capability, taking into account internal practices to promote innovation. A field of knowledge has been developed in this direction allowing for the proposal of a novel metrology, the Potential Innovation index (PII), based on multi-criteria analysis methods for studying the dynamics within companies. In this thesis, we propose an optimization model that replicates the evaluation procedure of innovation capability to generate an action plan, i.e., the model returns concrete points in which companies can work to improve its innovation system. The model considers factors such as the particular situation of the company, the economic efforts associated with the proposed strategy, the goals of the entrepreneur, etc. Three optimization strategies are proposed: access to a higher category with a minimum of effort, maximize resource efficiency and maximize innovation performance with a defined budget. Scenarios are simulated to test the results of the implementation of the different strategies

Full textSustainable Develoment Goals aim by 2030, to « achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all and end open defecation », by « using safely managed sanitation services ». Sanitation service can be defined by its technical and social components, and their interactions. This thesis focuses on both treatment infrastructures and involvement of all the stakeholders into service definition. Cross analysis of French Overseas Territories (FOT) and Senegal contexts, has identified common constraints that weigh on sanitation sector in tropical areas. From treatment infrastructure point of view, these constraints lead to suggest treatment wetlands systems and particularly French vertical-flow treatment wetland (FS-VFTW) to easier sludge managment, as a relevant solution. Their adaptation for tropical climate is the subjet of the first axis of our work. It aimed at defining their adaptation in terms of design, plant choices and defining the treatment wetlands type to implement according to outlet requirements. A hundred of 24h sampling campains were performed on 7 full scale demonstration plants, accross the 5 FOTs. Results show that despite more compacity, the proposed design allows maintaining performances at least similar to those observed in temperate climate. Due to climatic and organizational constraints inn tropical climate, a statistical analysis has been done to point out the resilience and reliability of the systems based on regulatory selfmonitoring data. It highlights the fact that FS-VFTWs are more reliable than most of the conventional treatment processes when applied for small size communities. Their physical barrier (filter) and their lower maintenance requirement explain this observation. The second axis of our research is based on an observed lack of consultation between stakeholders during the sanitation planning phase, which is responsible for the construction of the sanitation system. In particular, the users, their needs and their constraints are poorly and badly taken into account. Companion modeling approach could create both a support (the model) for discussing technical choices, as well as the framework within which the stakeholders could exchange points of view and find a sustainable consensus. Such a process has been developed and implemented for sanitation planning in 2 areas (urban and rural) of Senegal. Focused on household population, this process has led to create a generic model for sanitation access, embodied as a role playing game, which include a significant part of expert knowledge. The relevance of such tools in the characterization of user needs has been evaluated. In addition, attention was paid to users' acceptance of the proposed service and its translation into a willingness to contribute

Full textThis thesis adheres to the hypothesis according to which competences are at the heart of the innovation process in a resource creation perspective. The theoretical analysis of the innovation seeks to provide, in the diversity of literature on the technical change and theories of the firm, the effects at the sector level and the effects at the firm level. According to competence-based approach of the firm, the empirical analysis of the innovation emphasizes the characteristics of the firm, its profile and its sector. We sum up the results of this analysis into three ideas. First of all, it is important to try to understand the characteristics of core competences implemented in an innovation process. We show that specific competences in the innovative firms are as much technological as organizational and that the tacit and codified part varies according to the type of competence. Secondly, the firm's core competence varies, depending on whether the activities of innovation are technological or non-technological. If the absorptive capacity of external technologies and the organizational competences are the core competences in technological innovation process, the engagement in the non-technological innovation depends mainly on organizational competences. The role of competence-market, appropriability of innovation and cooperation varies with the type of innovation. Finally, we broaden the analysis by identifying the firms'activities typology according to internal and external opportunites and we show that the activities of innovation of the firm may be based on the internal organization, research or market. This arise the question of corporate coherence. In a nutshell, it follows that the propensity of the firm to innovate depends on the coherence of its core competences, activities and its relations with external actors. The interactions between firm, market and cooperation are crucial in our analysis

Full textThis thesis stems from recent developments of research dealing with organizational capabilities to innovate. The traditional approach of the strategic management of innovation or corporate entrepreneurship appears to be prisoners of an “action-structure” duality. In contrast, our research aims at grasping the intraorganizational dynamics which are at work to give sense associate to innovative activities and innovation. Calling upon contributions from the field of intraorganizational institutions, we examine those dynamics as (a) productions of institutionalized forms around innovation, (b) effects on the innovative activities, and (c) their ordering in an institutional work. The methodological design of our research consists in an extended case method based upon four case studies. Secondary data were collected and semi-structured interviews were the conducted and submitted to a qualitative analysis. The results of this research suggest that intraorganizational institutions are a relevant theoretical frame to describe sensemaking around innovation and innovative activities within organizations. This thus helps better understand organizational capabilities to maintain innovation. Through a process of institutionalization, members of the organization and groups share a common understanding of the organization’s “innovation patrimony”. This social construct helps them deal with the anxiety attached to innovating. Organizational capabilities to maintain innovation rely on resilient capacities of “innovation-institutions” to give sense either directly via the institutionalized or more indirectly via the institutionalizing

However, these SMEs are fragile and do not actively participate in the growth and development of the country. Our project is to provide an effective and efficient solution for SMEs. this solution is to innovate through information. Innovation is defined as a way of adapting to environmental change. Certainly the collection of information requires considerable human and financial resources that SMEs do not possess, hence the need for state intervention to make available to these SMEs with the information they need

Full textThe law of 11 February 2005 enables a change about the way we perceive disability. Alike for models and definitions development, the associations of People With Disabilties (PWD) keep fighting for accessibility for all of them. It’s within this context that our researches claim the benefits of innovating design integrating the needs of these users that indutrials consider as a niche market. As PWD are approximately 50 millions European people worth, can this market be still considered as a niche one? The analysis of the assistive technologies market points up a full scope for an innovation process focused on PWD needs in order to overcome existing lacks. To define the characteristics and the needs of these target users requires to understand and characterize what creates a disability situation. Some PWD specific needs are already at the root of inventions and technological advances used by a majority of people today (e. G. Remote control, mixer taps, voice recognition, etc. ). We’ll try to demonstrate through experiments leaded in partnership with the French Neuromuscular Diseases Association that knowledge of target users needs can be considered as a potential source of innovation for everybody

This thesis aims at confronting the objectives with the reality of the corpus studied, spanning for a decade, centered on a given book series, Castor Poche, whose purpose has been to establish a link between picture books and adult literature. It analyzes the movement towards a legitimate textual content for a publishing house traditionally focused on the album : if image gives way to text, how does it happen ? Is it done well ? What does it mean for the publisher and how does he justify it ? This confrontation is studied within a given competitive environment, on the basis of available archives, data and statisticx, with a wiew to shedding light on one of the principal stakes in today's publishing world, i. Full textIf technology compensates for a lack of being, what is man's responsibility within the evolution of his condition? The intertwining of human capabilities with machines transgresses traditional boundaries, and brings to light many ethical questions. Artificial intelligence and biotechnological transformation completely redefine the ontology of life. What role does the artist play in the recreation of the human condition? What is the status of autonomous living beings turned into works of art? Is Art ready to engage in broader social, cultural, and biopolitical issues, not only with the creation of new objects, but also with new subjects such as living matter? We will see how artists are seizing new technologies to question them, in order to explore all the phenomenological and physiological realities to which they give them access. The perfectibility of the body as a technical or microbiological embodiment is envisaged. The body is exposed, at the risk of losing its status as a protected species. For the practical part of this thesis, we will use a device to give voice to living organisms and show their ability to manifest intentionality. We will thus expose the concept of a natural intelligence beyond the limited vision of current objective science. The prospect of the end of human exceptionality in its arrogance and predation is considered

Full textThis research work aims to suggest a methodology for analyzing the innovation and export capabilities of SMEs working in the manufacturing and process sectors. This methodology is based on the identification and the characterization of a conceptual innovation/export common space representing the activities, the resources, the skills that a SME has to mobilize first and foremost in order to improve in a simultaneous way its performances concerning innovation and export. Working on the activities included in the common space allows the reduction of the effort associated with this performance improvement. This work contributes to the scientific research through various aspects. First of all, the innovation / export relationship in SMEs, traditionally thought in a causal way, was envisaged through the prism of the complexity paradigm. This theoretical contribution allowed the identification of an innovation/export common space. Then, this common space was characterized through the identification of joint activities. The identification of these joint activities is both a theoretical and managerial contribution because by improving one of these activities, companies activate a single lever which echoes simultaneously on innovation and export capabilities. In the context of SMEs, for whom the lack of resources is a major difficulty, it makes perfect sense. Finally, an evaluation methodology of the innovation and export capabilities based on this common space was designed so as to propose a multicriteria decision-making tool dedicated to SMEs. This tool was finally tested within manufacturing and process SMEs of the Lorraine region

Full textThis thesis aims to highlight the determinants of medical innovation and its impact on economic growth. It is based on building a database of spending and consumption of health goods and services between 1980 and 2010, and also on three theoretical models. Established results for cohorts born between 1923 and 2010 show that medical innovations are mainly determined by demographic changes. Moreover, even if these medical innovations have historically allowed the emergence of significant economies of scale, they do not currently play a leading role in macro-economic growth. Indeed, in the current conditions of stability of the survival curves, the mechanics of medical innovation does not appear as a driving force for macroeconomic growth short term. The multiplier effects of medical innovation on economic growth would be, on the short-term, negative or zero

Bouaziz, Hafedh. "La conversion des actes juridiques." Thesis, Lyon, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017LYSE3006/document.
Full textThe thesis proposes to redefine the notion of conversion. The analysis of positive law shows that the classical definition of conversion, such as (like) the operation which consists in drawing from a null act a valid new act, may be extended from a double point of view. All that had been done was the conversion of legal acts; it has been discovered that it can be extended to instrumental acts. In the same sense, there had been contemplated only one cause of conversion, the nullity of an act; it is now accepted that it could operate as a result of a case arising a posteriori, like the lapse, the prescription, the foreclosure and the resolution. Conversion may, therefore, be defined as the technique which gives effect, by the will of the law or the judge, to a legal act which has not been formed because of an original defect or which Was able to survive because of a posteriori cause when the elements which remain correspond to the definition of a new legal figure satisfying the economic objective pursued by the parties. The thesis also proposes to modernize or renovate the regime of conversion. The modernized conversion requires the active intervention of the judge to verify that the conditions of the conversion are met, but also and especially to decide on its expediency. Conversion thus places the judge at the rank of true trainer or "maker" of the contract. The doctrinal analyzes which present conversion as based on an alleged virtual will of the parts are artificial. There is, however, no need to demonize the office of the judge by claiming that conversion is an exorbitant and authoritarian process. The anxiety which may arise from the increase of the role of the judge in conversion is appeased as soon as the judge is obliged to draw the elements of the new act into the original act. They have yet to be tempered by the constant search for a new act which responds to the original purpose of the parties. The ambition of this thesis was therefore twofold: the redefinition of the notion of conversion on the one hand and the regeneration of its regime on the other. In view of this renewed analysis, conversion is destined for a prosperous future as a technique for the rescue of legal acts

After semiconductor industry, TFT LCDindustry is the 2nd pillar of Taiwan’s so-called Twin-trillion/Twin-star high-tech industry. It was as successful as semiconductor segment before. For example, in 2004 Taiwan’s overall market share of LCD panel production was world-wide number 1 as 40.3%. However, it now faces severe challenge as either going up again or going down until perishes. This paper will propose a feasible strategy for Innolux on how to conquer the key issues in Board of chair arrangement, Management teamarrangement, supply chain and stock exchange ratio before merge AUO. Besides that, we will also utilize the successful case of Mediatek merging Morning-Star as reference.

The best way to boom an industry is to use the Mergers and Acquisitions(M & A) strategy which results in a “ 1+1>2 , integrated effect ”. The industry will reach the greatest benefit and scale economy by the least cost and risk. Given that the TFT-LCD industry is extremely sensitive to economics cycle and competition, the global manufacturers have been adoptied low price policy and production improvement to win the orders. But what has brought about is the predicament of “ the supply exceeds the demand ”. TFT-LCD industry in Taiwan has been facing the threat of the toughest competition and thinking of the possibility of industry integration to survive. The research will explore that the M & A influences the global arrangement and national development of the TFT-LCD industry-CMO & Innolux . But in fact, the future is not as bright as expectations. The complexities among personnel purchase and enterprise cultural difference are intertwined. The research is targeted at the two corporations to find whether M & A is the key to driving corporate performance and integrated effect for the industry after M & A.

November 14, 2009, Innolux and Chimei held a press conference, announcing that they will merge by the way of split-off。But after merging with Chimei, Innolux will change its name to Chimei-Innolux。 After Chimei-Innolux was born, it has become the biggest LCD company in Taiwan, even bigger than AUO. Chimei-Innolux is now the third largest LCD manufacturer, gaining a magnificent global market share of 18%, only next to Samsung and LGD, Korea. The merge is regarded as a win-win situation by the market. For Chimei, it has gained huge assembly power from Foxconn. Meanwhile, share holders such as Chimei can get away from LCD industry. For Innolux, it has got enough LCD capacity and technical support to boost the assembly business of LCD TV. As for foxconn, Chimei-Innolux has made foxconn the first manufacturer which controls business from suppliers to retailers in TV assembly industry around the globe. Both of the companies are huge and play significant roles in the industry, which makes the merge even more powerful and influential. The paper aims to analyze the impact the merge has on Chimei and on the whole LCD industry. With the method of SWOT and Dupont analyzes, the research studies the development and trait of TFT LCD industry, key parts as well as Clustering effect of Taiwan industry chains in order to know if the merge will result in multiple effects.
