Abstract:
Change has been the key in every organization as every organization strives to remain nominally competitive and design a better product, service or process. New technologies and non-standard approaches provide an opportunity to save time and means and meet the customer’s requirements. Organizations are always innovating and hence are flexible when the market is unpredictable and hence sustainable.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to develop a meta-ranking of the world’s most innovative firms, which underscores the importance of external perceptions of innovativeness and of an innovation-based view on firm performance, including product, service, process, business model, management and organizational innovation. Design/methodology/approach This is an exploratory empirical paper, which integrates the results of five rankings of the world’s most innovative companies. Findings The five innovation rankings include a variety of companies based on different methods and strategic focus. This variety underscores the importance of a meta-ranking, whose multiple aggregation methods lead to consistent results. Only the following 11 companies are mentioned in at least three rankings, leading to a list of the 11 most innovative companies in the world: Amazon, Apple, Tencent, Google/Alphabet, Netflix, SpaceX, Tesla, Microsoft, IBM, Intel and General Electric. Overall, the meta-ranking is dominated by US companies from various industries with firms from China gaining importance. Originality/value The paper contributes to research into innovation antecedents and consequences by illustrating the importance of innovation perceptions. The meta-ranking highlights the need for pursuing different types of innovation, following the innovation-based view on firm performance with first-order and second-order innovations. Moreover, the results deepen our understanding of digital transformation and of capturing value from innovation in the digital economy because a considerable portion of the leading innovators has a business model emphasizing artificial intelligence and digital platforms, which have led to the generation of new and to the disruption of established markets.

Abstract:
Radical innovations often upend the incumbents firms and even render them obsolete (Ansari & Krop, 2012; Benner, 2010), as these firms often have great difficulties in addressing the challenge posed by these innovations due to inertia (Ghemawat, 1991), tendencies to exploit existing competences (Levinthal & March, 1993; O’Reilly & Tushman, 2008), organizational rigidity (Beonard-Barton, 1992), complacency and internal culture (Tellis, 2006), problems in the incentive system and resource allocation process (Christensen, 1997), and gap in the organizational capabilities required for embracing the new technology (Henderson, 2006; Tushman & Anderson, 1986). However, as radical innovations become increasingly frequent across industries, responding to this serious threat has become a strategic priority for many incumbent firms.Research shows that incumbents survive or even prosper in the face of radical innovations by forging effective partnerships with challenger firms (Ansari & Krop, 2012), establishing a separate entity to fend off the threat (Christensen, 1997; Christensen, Raynor & McDonald, 2015), better evaluation and investment approach (Hill & Rothaermel, 2003), appropriately configuring organizational form and structure (Ansari & Krop, 2012), coupling their basic research function with applied research functions (Hill & Rothaermel, 2003), possessing downstream complementary assets critical for the commercialization of the new technology (Ansari & Krop, 2012; Hill & Rothaermel, 2003), and more importantly by possessing a high willingness to cannibalize their core business (Chandy and Tellis, 1998). Incumbents can also thrive or overcome the so-called incumbent’s curse by pioneering radical innovations by themselves (Chandy and Tellis, 2000).Previous studies on radical innovations focus primarily on a single product (e.g., Chandy and Tellis, 1998, 2000), technological or business model innovation (Ansari & Krop, 2012; Christensen, 1997; Hill & Rothaermel, 2003). These innovations may have the potential to shrink the incumbents’ marketspace, e.g., Gemesis’ synthetic diamonds challenging the natural diamonds (McAdams and Reavis, 2008), EasyJet challenging mainstream airlines such as BA, Netflix challenging the traditional movie rental business (Leonhartdt, 2006), or displace the incumbent market leader, e.g., IBM PC and its clones destroyed minicomputer makers such as DEC, Wang, Apollo and so on. Yet, they do not often disrupt the entire industry. But in recent years, more industry-wide disruptions have occurs due to emerge of not a single radical innovation but an array of them simultaneously from within or outside of a particular industry. In this process, it is not just the incumbent market leader or a few incumbent firms but the entire value chain, ecosystem or industry get displaced, the so-called paradigm shift, e.g., GPS device by software companies such as Google and Waze, desktop computing by mobile devices, and the traditional auto industry centered around the internal combustion engine by peer-to-peer service provider (e.g., Uber), consumer electronics (e.g., Apple), battery-driven vehicle (e.g., Tesla), and software companies (e.g., Google, Amazon). When this happens, incumbents are not fighting against a particular firm or a few firms that have introduced radical innovations based on similar technologies, but an army of very diverse entrants that are disrupting the entire industries from various directions, some of which are from remote industries with vastly different organizational capabilities, mindset and business model. How incumbents of the existing ecosystem should best cope with the massive and dramatic industry-level disruption induced by multiple radical innovations along a number of fronts or paradigm shift has largely remained unexamined. In the face of paradigm shift, can the above mentioned strategies or tactics for incumbents to combat single radical innovation or firm be adequate to deal with the fundamental existential threat? If not, what should be the appropriate strategies for them to survive or even thrive in the advent of a paradigm shift? In this paper, we attempt to sketch out a research framework to investigate this important issue.

Abstract:
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming software development processes, ushering in a new era of human-AI collaboration rather than replacement. This article examines how Large Language Models (LLMs), generative AI, and machine learning algorithms are revolutionizing coding, deployment, and testing workflows. AI-powered tools are enabling developers to generate entire functions from natural language prompts, predict deployment failures before they occur, and create comprehensive test suites that identify edge cases human testers might miss. Through case studies from industry leaders like Microsoft, Google, Netflix, Meta, and Airbnb, this article demonstrates that AI integration leads to substantial improvements in productivity, code quality, and developer satisfaction. However, significant challenges remain, including security vulnerabilities in AI-generated code, bias in automated testing systems, and the paradox of human oversight diminishing as automation increases. The article concludes that the most promising future lies in a synergistic collaboration that leverages AI for routine tasks while preserving human creativity, ethical judgment, and contextual understanding for complex problem-solving and innovation.

Abstract:
Netflix has undergone some actual revolution since its founding in 1997. This article introduces the way the strategic development of Netflix has turned it into a giant of streaming services from a simple form for renting DVDs. Utilizing a variety of theoretical frameworks and industry analyses, the paper analyzes Netflix's subscription-driven revenue model, innovation in original content investments, globalization efforts, and technology-driven innovation. The paper will discuss the international expansion strategy of Netflix, involving the need for localization of content and acquisition of content at the entrance of the company in the foreign market, and further appraises technological innovations at Netflix, such as AI and machine learning, VR and AR, and how they contribute to improvements in service outcomes and enhancements in engagement. The Personalization and recommendation technologies could be technologically advanced in enabling Netflix to become personal in its recommendations and, consequently, give an immersive entertainment experience, all from a global audience. In such a course, Netflix has seen unseemly success so far; nevertheless, some challenges remain. Content cost pressures, competition from foreign and domestic rivals, and consumers changing their preferences are to name a few. International expansion, diversification of content offerings, and partnership with the same business lie in growth and innovation paths. In this respect, Netflix will emerge as the preeminent player in the dynamic ecosystem of the entertainment industry by exploiting sustainability, adaptability, and innovation.

Abstract:
The globalization process has increased everything's accessibility and connectivity. Through information and technology, globalization makes it easier to move products, services, cultures, innovations, and creative ideas. As one of the most popular online streaming services, Netflix is fostering cross-cultural exchanges as part of the increasing globalization of capitalism. The author uses written sources, information, and evidence in the form of quotes from written works, written papers, and written responses to articles, reports, publications, and statistical data that are pertinent to Netflix. The author will apply globalization theory and a transnational approach to investigate why individuals favor Netflix over alternative online streaming services. These two theories are implemented in elaborating four dominant factors that Netflix has influenced the new habit patterns in today's society. Market growth will always play a role in globalization-related economic and cultural activities and processes. As a result, four key elements affect Netflix’s market dominance: substitution, barriers to entry and potential competition, measures of profitability, and market share.

Abstract:
Streaming services such as Netflix are already penetrating the mainstream market in Malaysia. Netflix offers a wide range of binge-worthy content to young adults, such as K-dramas, anime, thrillers, rom-coms, sitcoms, or reality television shows. As a newer form of media engagement, media researchers are just beginning to understand the meaning of binge-watching, and how motivation to binge-watch (MBW) predicts binge-watching tendencies (BWT). Research on parasocial relationships formed with Netflix characters and how they influence BWT is also relatively scarce. Thus, we seek to identify predictors of BWT from the uses and gratification (U&G) perspective. We predict that parasocial interaction (PSI) will mediate the relationship between loneliness and binge-watching tendencies (BWT). Six hypotheses were tested using zero-order correlations and PROCESS Macro Hayes. A cross-sectional online survey was constructed using Google Forms, and distributed among university students in Malaysia during the COVID-19 pandemic (N = 284). Data was collected from October to December 2021. Four hypotheses were supported; results indicate that PSI, stress relief, and enjoyment predicted BWT. PSI also mediated the relationship between loneliness and BWT. Thus, parasocial relationships formed with Netflix characters prompted lonelier individuals to binge-watch more. The repercussions of these findings on U&G, PSI, and binge-watching literature will be discussed. Keywords: Binge-watching tendencies, loneliness, motivation to binge-watch, parasocial interaction, uses and gratification.

Reviews given by application users have an essential role in the decisions of potential users before deciding to use a service. Users can provide reviews of application services on the Google Play Store. A large number of reviews makes the data collection and analysis difficult if done manually. Therefore, a particular method is needed to collect and analyze these reviews automatically to obtain the hidden essential information. Topic modeling is an extension of text analysis that can find main themes or trends hidden in large sets of unstructured documents. This study applies topic modeling with the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) method for Netflix application review data sourced from the Google Play Store web. The Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) method is a probability model from textual data that can explain the hidden semantic themes in the review document. This research aims to analyze hidden topics that application users discuss. The results of topic modeling show that of the twelve topics generated, the most discussed topic by users is payment methods.

Abstract:
Objective: Surgical innovation (SI) can place patients at risk. We sought to explore what clinical information is readily available to patients who have been offered innovative surgical procedures, using two examples drawn from our recent experience: one a surgical technique, and the other a prosthetic material. We wanted to determine from our review the extent to which information available on the Internet might augment the medical literature and help satisfy the ethical requirements for patients to be adequately informed before they proceed with innovative surgery. Methods: A scoping review of the medical literature was performed to look for studies addressing the review aims; targeted searches on Google, YouTube, and patient websites were carried out to find readily available patient information on two chosen innovative surgical procedures. We conducted a content analysis of the selected references to determine the availability, relevance, and the utility of the published information to a layperson. Results: Medical database searches identified 614 records, 91 were screened and only six were relevant. The Internet searches returned thousands of results; however, we limited our screening to the first five pages of results for those sources. From both types of searches, 348 references were excluded because they did not meet the inclusion criteria and 51 were included in the analysis. The findings are presented in four themes: safety and feasibility of the technique, availability and accessibility to a layperson, relevance and utility to a layperson, and commercial information. Conclusion: The review has shown that lay people seeking to find out more about the two innovations would get very little useful information from Google, YouTube, or patient websites. Practitioners offering SI should provide sufficient information to allow their patients to make an autonomous decision about whether to proceed. For major SI, we encourage innovators to develop a plain language statement that would be made available on the Internet to the mutual advantage of both innovators and patients.

Abstract:
A huge amount of data is collected by search engines. According to estimates, the Google search engine, which is dominant on the market, receives billions of search requests daily. Of particular note is that a large part of the collected data is available through the Google Trends service. As a consequence, various types of data can be used by enterprises for their development but they often do not take advantage of this opportunity. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to prove the suitability of the big data concept for creating and implementing product innovations, using the example of Google Trends. Discovering human needs and searching for answers to them is not only the domain of entrepreneurs, therefore this study may have a fairly broad practical applications. By adopting general assumptions, i.e. ones that do not refer to specific products or industries, the author has shown that the presented path may be recreated by both entrepreneurs and creators of political programs, as well as leaders of non-governmental organizations who need to implement innovations. The results revealed the selection of specific ways of entering queries in Google Trends and certain periods of analysis which are the most useful for creating innovations. Descriptive statistics (such as median) clearly show that the results typed in Google Trends are better when taken from a user perspective and can be used to create innovations. Despite substantial differences, the results do not allow for the conclusion that these differences were statistically significant. Thus, preliminary data supports the hypothesis, but more research is needed.

Abstract:
Background The epidemiology of mental health disorders has important theoretical and practical implications for health care service and planning. The recent increase in big data storage and subsequent development of analytical tools suggest that mining search databases may yield important trends on mental health, which can be used to support existing population health studies. Objective This study aimed to map depression search intent in the United States based on internet-based mental health queries. Methods Weekly data on mental health searches were extracted from Google Trends for an 11-year period (2010-2021) and separated by US state for the following terms: “feeling sad,” “depressed,” “depression,” “empty,” “insomnia,” “fatigue,” “guilty,” “feeling guilty,” and “suicide.” Multivariable regression models were created based on geographic and environmental factors and normalized to the following control terms: “sports,” “news,” “google,” “youtube,” “facebook,” and “netflix.” Heat maps of population depression were generated based on search intent. Results Depression search intent grew 67% from January 2010 to March 2021. Depression search intent showed significant seasonal patterns with peak intensity during winter (adjusted P<.001) and early spring months (adjusted P<.001), relative to summer months. Geographic location correlated with depression search intent with states in the Northeast (adjusted P=.01) having higher search intent than states in the South. Conclusions The trends extrapolated from Google Trends successfully correlate with known risk factors for depression, such as seasonality and increasing latitude. These findings suggest that Google Trends may be a valid novel epidemiological tool to map depression prevalence in the United States.

Abstract:
Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft and Netflix have come under intense criticism for acquiring undue influence on the media, economy, society and democracy. Google and Facebook’s business models, especially, are cast as a form of ‘vampire economics’ responsible for the crisis of journalism and upending the media industries. Many media scholars argue that since the platforms increasingly function like media companies, media policy should be our North Star with respect to what new approaches to internet regulation should look like. This article agrees that a forceful response to the platforms is overdue but criticizes the case against them for too often resting on cherry-picked evidence and an exaggerated sense of their clout, while references to media policy obscure a better approach that draws on four principles from telecoms regulation to guide a new generation of internet regulation: structural separation, line of business restrictions (i.e., firewalls), public obligations and public alternatives.

Abstract:
This article explores and theorises what is here termed the Silicon Doctrine (SD), that is the legal ideology underpinning the libertarian version of the digital economy promoted (among others) by Facebook, Uber, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google. The first part of the text explores the Silicon Doctrine’s Frankensteinian ideological roots. The second part of the text scrutinises three dimensions of the Silicon Doctrine: 1) data extraction; 2) domination of the informational infrastructure; and 3) labour exploitation. This article examines the social contract proposed by Silicon Valley, evaluating its two-sided role as a disruptive breakout from the twentieth century social model, and as a continuation of the neoliberal shock doctrine.

Abstract:
Forecasting stock market movements is a critical yet challenging endeavor due to the inherent nonlinearity, chaotic behavior, and dynamic nature of financial markets. This study proposes the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Ensemble Recurrent Light Gradient Boosting Machine (AR-ERLM), an innovative model designed to enhance the precision and reliability of stock movement predictions. The AR-ERLM integrates ARIMA for identifying linear dependencies, RNN for capturing temporal dynamics, and LightGBM for managing large-scale datasets and non-linear relationships. Using datasets from Netflix, Amazon, and Meta platforms, the model incorporates technical indicators and Google Trends data to construct a comprehensive feature space. Experimental results reveal that the AR-ERLM outperforms benchmark models such as GA-XGBoost, Conv-LSTM, and ANN. For the Netflix dataset, the AR-ERLM achieved an RMSE of 2.35, MSE of 5.54, and MAE of 1.58, surpassing other models in minimizing prediction errors. Moreover, the model demonstrates robust adaptability to real-time data and consistently superior performance across multiple metrics. The findings emphasize AR-ERLM’s potential to enhance predictive accuracy, mitigating overfitting and reducing computational overhead. These implications are crucial for financial institutions and investors seeking reliable tools for risk assessment and decision-making. The study sets the foundation for integrating advanced AI models into financial forecasting, encouraging future exploration of hybrid optimization techniques to further refine predictive capabilities.

Abstract:
The rapid development of digital technologies, digital transformation, business innovation, and the emergence of such technologies as artificial intelligence, blockchain, the Internet of Things provides significant potential for transforming business processes and creating new innovative models. The trend analysis conducted in this article (using the Google Trends tool) around the world for 2009-2023 showed that public interest in “business innovation” was almost constant until 2021 (according to the GT Scale, it ranged from 0.25 to 0.5). After 2021, it increased (according to the GT Scale, it was more than 0.5). At the same time, public interest in “digital transformation” has significantly increased since 2014, reaching almost maximum values in 2020-2023 (0.75 – 1.00 on the GT Scale). This confirms a growing need in society to acquire new knowledge related to the ability of businesses to adapt to digital transformation, including through creating innovative developments. Unlike trend analysis, bibliometric and comparative analyses identify trends in developing interest in this topic not among ordinary citizens – users of the Google search platform ‒ but among scientists who publish the results of their research either in monographs or in authoritative peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed by leading scientometric databases. The comparative analysis conducted in the article using the Google Books Ngram Viewer (Google) tool, which displays the frequency of references to relevant terms in English-language books for 2009-2019 worldwide, showed similar trends: the persistence of scholars’ attention to business innovation, while their interest in digital transformation is growing: in 2009-2013 – a slight increase, in 2013-2019 ‒ a significant increase. In the bibliometric analysis, a five-level mechanism for limiting the research sample was applied: only English-language and most recent (for 2018-2022) scientific articles indexed by the Scopus database in the subject area of Business, Management and Accounting were subject to analysis. Based on these limitations, the research sample for the keyword “digital transformation” was reduced from 12131 to 1700 papers, and for “business innovation” from 865 to 70. The analysis of the published articles, their views and citations, carried out using the SciVal tool, fully confirmed the conclusions drawn from the trend and comparative analysis results. In terms of digital transformation, the leaders in terms of the number of papers and the number of views are Germany, Italy, the UK and the US; in terms of citations – the UK, Germany, the US, and in terms of individual scientists – Brazil and Germany. As for the topic of business innovation, the United States is the undisputed leader in all these parameters, followed by China and the United Kingdom. Some scientists from Germany and Spain also attract the attention of the academic community (in terms of views and citations). Changes in trends and research priorities in each of the studied topics were identified and described using SciVal (analysis of the reference dynamics to the top 50 keywords in articles for 2018-2023). For example, in 2023, compared to 2022, scientific interest in issues related to “value creation” (+61.5%), “incumbents” (+66.7%), “service economy” (+83.3%), “digital marketing” (+75.0%), and “design thinking” (+150.0%) increased the most. VOSviewer software made it possible to cluster the scientific work by thematic areas. The largest cluster on digital transformation relates this concept to small and medium-sized businesses and technologies, and the largest cluster on business innovation relates it to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and the protection of property rights.

Purpose As Agile management thinking spreads to every part and every kind of organization, including their competitors, corporate leaders need to take steps to ensure they get and keep a good seat at the Agile table. Design/methodology/approach The author’s first hand research finds that firms are learning the hard way that software process and value innovation requires a different way of running the organization to be successful. The whole firm has to become nimble, adaptable and able to adjust on the fly to meet the shifting whims of a marketplace driven by dynamic changes in customer value. Findings The Agile way of working is provoking a revolution in business that affects almost everyone. Agile organizations are connecting everyone and everything, everywhere, all the time. They are capable of delivering instant, intimate, frictionless value on a large scale. Practical implications Examples of the new way of running organizations are everywhere apparent. It’s not just the five biggest firms by market capitalization: Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google and Microsoft. It’s also firms like Airbnb, Etsy, Lyft, Menlo Innovations, Netflix, Saab, Samsung, Spotify, Tesla, Uber and Warby Parker. Social implications A new kind of management was needed to enable this new kind of worker -- a fundamentally different way of running organizations. Agile is economically more productive and a better fit with the new marketplace. And it had immense potential benefit for the human spirit. It could create workplaces that enabled human beings to contribute their full talents on something worthwhile and meaningful – creating value for other human beings. Originality/value Continuing the management practices and structures of the lumbering industrial giants of the 20th Century is no longer a viable option for today’s firms. To survive, let alone thrive, leaders today must recognize that Agile is not something happening in software alone.

The underlying problem of audience fragmentation does not originate with streaming services, but this profound contextual change, in concert with industrial aspects that further distinguish internet-distributed television from television’s past norms, must be addressed. The article concludes by identifying several ways the cultural power of streaming services can be investigated despite the challenges that emerging norms of Internet-distributed video provide. This article is based on a paper presented at the Media in Transition symposium (Utrecht, June 28, 2018), in the Industries and Infrastructures panel organised by Judith Keilbach. Abstract:
This article explores the historical evolution, current transformation, and strategic importance of the school subject "Technologies" in Ukraine, particularly under the conditions of full-scale war. The study traces the transition from the Soviet-era utilitarian "labour training" course to a multidimensional, interdisciplinary field integrated within the New Ukrainian School (NUS) reform. The shift in educational paradigm is examined — from manual tasks to a focus on critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, and entrepreneurial competencies. A special emphasis is placed on project-based learning, the application of digital tools (3D modeling, Arduino, Canva, Scratch, Google Workspace), and the implementation of STEAM approaches. The article highlights how technology lessons facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration with computer science, mathematics, biology, and arts education. The impact of the Russian invasion is analyzed in detail, illustrating how the subject has become not only an educational tool but also a psychosocial support mechanism, offering students a sense of stability, agency, and purpose through practical activities like candle making, sewing kits, and digital presentations. Key systemic challenges are discussed: unequal access to modern equipment, insufficient teacher training in digital and project-oriented methodologies, the lack of clear models for interdisciplinary integration, and outdated teacher certification procedures that fail to reflect 21st-century educational realities. Despite the difficulties, the Ukrainian education system continues to adapt and evolve. The article argues that the "Technologies" subject serves as a platform for resilience, innovation, and hands-on learning – forming an essential component of a future-oriented, inclusive, and socially relevant education system in times of both crisis and recovery.

Abstract:
The market for supply chain analytics is expected to develop at a CAGR of 17.3 percent from 2019 to 2024, more than doubling in size. This data demonstrates how supply chain organizations understand the advantages of being able to forecast what will happen in the future with a decent degree of accuracy. Google, Netflix, and Amazon are among the main corporations that use predictive analytics. According to Gartner research, organizations that use predictive supply chains have a good return on investment. Furthermore, owing to more precise demand forecasting, they may reduce inventory by 20-30%. Predictive analytics may help remove a lot of the guesswork from planning and decision-making. Supply chain predictive analytics, as opposed to historical analytics, helps supply chain management to foresee and plan. Supply chain leaders may use this data to address supply chain difficulties, cut costs, and enhance service levels all at the same time. Predictive analytics approaches enable businesses to uncover hidden patterns and trends in their data, allowing them to better analyze market trends, identify demand and set suitable pricing strategies.
