Abstract:
Abstract The India-based Neutrino Observatory's (INO) Iron CALorimeter (ICAL) experiment will be instrumented with about 28,800 large area glass Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) as active detector elements. The mini-ICAL, which is a 600-times scaled-down prototype version of the ICAL, is currently in operation at the Inter Institutional Centre for High Energy Physics (IICHEP), a transit campus of the INO project in Madurai, India. The 4 m×4 m detector comprises an ∼ 85 t magnet, built using 11 layers of iron plates to accommodate 10 layers of RPCs — two RPCs per layer. A closed-loop gas system

Abstract The INO ICAL (India-based Neutrino Observatory Iron Calorimeter) experiment is an upcoming mega-science project currently in the developmental stages. This initiative employs over 28,800 Resistive Plate Chambers (RPC) based charged particle detectors used for tracking muon events. Each of these detectors incorporates an FPGA-based Digital Front End known as RPC-DAQ, with the primary objective of measuring the position and timing of particle interactions within the respective RPCs. The firmware embedded in the RPC-DAQ FPGA is designed to support this logic. The ICAL experiment is a 50-

The India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) is a proposed underground facility located in India that will primarily house the magnetised Iron CALorimeter (ICAL) detector to study atmospheric neutrinos produced by interactions of cosmic rays with Earth’s atmosphere. The physics goal is to to make precision measurements of the neutrino mixing and oscillation parameters through such a study. We present here the results from detailed simulations studies, as well as a status report on the project. In particular, we highlight the sensitivity of ICAL to the open issue of the neutrino mass ordering, wh

Abstract The mass-induced neutrino oscillation is a well established phenomenon that is based on the unitary mixing among three light active neutrinos. Remarkable precision on neutrino mixing parameters over the last decade or so has opened up the prospects for testing the possible non-unitarity of the standard 3ν mixing matrix, which may arise in the seesaw extensions of the Standard Model due to the admixture of three light active neutrinos with heavy isosinglet neutrinos. Because of this non-unitary neutrino mixing (NUNM), the oscillation probabilities among the three active neutrinos would

INO is an Indian-based Neutrino Observatory project which is a multi-Institutional Collaboration for setting up a magnetized Iron Calorimeter (ICAL) detector to detect atmospheric neutrino and study their properties. It is a world class underground laboratory for high energy experimental and nuclear physics research in India. The primary goal of INO is to study Neutrino because they are the fundamental particles having little mass but were expected to be massless in standard of particle physics. Today, determination of neutrino masses and mixing parameters is one the most challenging open prob
