Investigations were made into the trapping biology of the pitchers of Nepenthes rafflesiana (Jack), Family Nepenthaceae, in Brunei, Borneo. The plant produces two distinct pitcher forms, upper and lower, which were found to differ in their prey spectra. High contrast U/V patterns on the upper pitchers were found to contribute to the attraction of some anthophilous insects, as was the fragrance of upper pitcher fluid. The Black Soldier Fly (BSF) is chosen as the insect-based conversion technology since it has nutritional properties, which serves both waste treatment and animal feed material production purposes.

Abstract:
The present study aims to investigate the diversity and flight activity of Staphylinidae in a citrus orchard of the Catania Plain (Sicily) using different sampling methods (car-net, window traps and pit-fall traps). The study looks at the complex of flying rove beetles with the aim of defining preliminarily the faunistic and zoogeographical structure of this family in the study area. A second aim of the study is to investigate, using window-traps and pit-fall traps, the spatial distribution of flying staphylinids inside the orchard and in adjacent habitats. The use of window traps and car-net

Abstract:
Pine processionary moth (PPM, Thaumetopoea pityocampa) is an active range expanding pest species having significant economic impact in terms of tree growth and public health. A lot is known about its natural history although one important aspect of its life history, diapause, has been so far neglected in spite of its acknowledged importance in pest establishment and dynamics. A few questions related to diapause have been addressed in this PhD project. Although the existence of prolonged diapause (PD) was reported long ago, no study provided its maximum duration.

Abstract:
We are currently faced with the global challenge of conserving biological diversity while also increasing food production to meet the demands of a growing human population. Land-use change, primarily resulting from conversion to production land, is currently the leading cause of biodiversity loss. This occurs through habitat loss, fragmentation of remaining natural habitats, and resulting edge effects. Land-sparing and land-sharing approaches have been discussed as alternative ways to engineer landscapes to mitigate biodiversity loss while meeting production objectives. However, these represen
