On 3 February 2020, the High Court of Malawi sitting on constitutional matters nullified the presidential election that was held on 21 May 2019. That decision was upheld by the Supreme Court of Appeal on 8 May 2020. Various reforms were ordered by the courts and legislated by Parliament, most notably a change in the electoral system, from a simple majoritarian, or first-past-the-post (FPTP), system to a two-round system where the winner must receive over 50 per cent of the votes. What is the nature of the EU’s authority? This fascinating book explores this question, and is much needed given the increased scrutiny of the EU’s actions in the face of growing nationalism and various other internal and external challenges. By setting out an original account of the preferred moral standard to evaluate such authority, ie demoicratic authority, it illustrates how that standard affects the practical reasoning of those subject to the EU’s authority. Theoretically significant, the book also has important practical value as legitimacy challenges in the EU increase. Constitutional

There are two major findings: first, most relevant judgments involved legal actions against the social welfare system and legal capacity issues; second, most judgments tended to draw on the CRPD as an interpretive aid to domestic law or simply included generic references to the CRPD
