Abstract:
Abstract The present study aims to fill the data gap analysis in urban wastewaters characteristics in Benin and its statistical analysis. Physicochemical parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity (EC), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN), Total Phosphorus (TP) and UV Absorbance at 254 nm, were determined on domestic (greywater and blackwater) and industrial (hospital, pharmaceutical and commercial laundry) wastewater in Cotonou city. Analysis of variance showed a strong significant difference in the physico-chemistry of the various effluents. The pharmaceutical wastewater has the highest concentration of organic pollution (COD = 5,912 ± 1,026 mg/L, Abs.UV254 = 2.667 ± 0.327 cm−1). The organic load of blackwater is mainly in particulate and biodegradable form. Besides, the correlation study showed the limits of pH and EC as an indicator of organic load. Furthermore, the choice of COD or BOD5 as the main design parameter would be limited to blackwater treatment. Abs.UV254 was found to be the parameter having a strong relationship with other parameters of all effluents except blackwater. It then takes priority over COD for the treatment of greywater and industrial wastewater. For future wastewater treatment plant design, we recommend to consider Abs.UV254 as an important parameter.

Abstract:
Abstract STUDY QUESTION What is the expression level of T-cadherin in endometriosis, and does T-cadherin play a role in regulating invasion and migration of endometrial stromal cells? SUMMARY ANSWER T-cadherin expression was reduced in ectopic endometriotic lesions compared to eutopic endometrium, and T-cadherin overexpression inhibited the invasion and migration of endometrial stromal cells. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY Endometriosis is a disease that involves active cell invasion and migration. T-cadherin can inhibit cell invasion, migration and proliferation in various cancer cells, but its role in endometriosis has not been investigated. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION We explored the expression status of T-cadherin in 40 patients with and 24 without endometriosis. We also isolated endometrial stromal cells to study the invasion, migration and signaling pathway regulation of T-cadherin overexpression. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Patients were recruited at the Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center to study the expression levels of T-cadherin. The expression of T-cadherin was detected by immunohistochemistry staining and western blot. H-score was used to evaluate the staining intensity of T-cadherin. The correlation between T-cadherin expression levels (H-score) and endometriosis patients’ age, stage, lesion size and adhesion was analyzed. Endometrial stromal cells from patients with and without endometriosis were isolated, and cell invasion and migration were detected by transwell assays after T-cadherin overexpression. The expression of vimentin in T-cadherin-overexpressed cells was detected by western blot. After T-cadherin overexpression, the phosphorylation profile of signaling pathway proteins was detected with the Proteome Profiler Human Phospho-Kinase Array Kit. MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE There was no difference in the expression of T-cadherin in the normal endometrium of control patients and the eutopic endometrium of endometriotic patients, but it was significantly decreased in the ectopic endometrium of endometriotic patients, compared with control endometrium and eutopic endometrium of endometriosis patients (P < 0.0001, for both). Western blot analysis also showed that the expression of T-cadherin was decreased in ectopic endometriotic lesions, but not the normal control endometrium or the endometriotic eutopic endometrium. The results of transwell assays indicated that T-cadherin overexpression inhibited the invasion and migration of endometrial stromal cells. In addition, T-cadherin overexpression promoted the phosphorylation of HSP27 (S78/S82) and JNK 1/2/3 (T183/Y185, T221/Y223) and decreased the expression of vimentin, MMP2 and MMP9 in eutopic endometriosis stromal cells. LARGE-SCALE DATA N/A. LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION The control group were patients with benign gynecological conditions (e.g. uterus myoma, endometrial or cervical polyp), which may have genetic or epigenetic variations associated with T-cadherin expression and signaling pathways. The case numbers of involved endometriosis and control patients were limited. This study only used endometrial stromal cells from patients with or without endometriosis. Ideally, ectopic endometrial stromal cells of the ovarian endometriotic lesions should also be utilized to explore the function of T-cadherin. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS Further investigation of the role of T-cadherin in endometriosis may generate new potential therapeutic targets for this complex disorder. Abstract:

The study investigated the factors affecting gender equity in science and technology among senior secondary school students. The study was carried out at the University of Benin Demonstration Secondary School in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. One hundred and fifty students of average age 15 years in their penultimate year were administered the questionnaires for the study. The data for the study was collected from a survey instrument titled, “Career Determinants. Analysis of the data revealed that sex, parental, peer influences, social and cultural stereotyping were the major factors affecting gender inequity in the choice of careers in science and technology among secondary school students. Less than 40% of the girls indicated interest in science and technology subjects even though they had the ability. More than sixty-five percent of the boys indicated interest in science and technology subjects even though they were not academically prepared for them. It was therefore suggested that gender equity in science and technology could be fostered by designing a training program in science to build confidence and assertive skills in students at the junior secondary school level. Recommendations were also made that seminars should be conducted for parents and teachers in primary schools to desensitize stereotyping acquired through socialization processes and cultural practices.

Abstract:
This study endeavored to downscale rainfall in Benin City so as to reveal what pathway would be more tolerable in the metropolis both now and in the future, putting the current effect of rainfall in the area in mind. Quasi-experimental research design was adopted and data for rainfall (1985-2015) was collected from the archive of the Nigerian meteorological agency (NIMET). While data of large scale predictors were collected from the HadCM3 data achieve. Calibration period was from 1985 to 2001, while validation was 2001 to 2015. Analysis of variance was used to trace if there was a significant difference in the temporal rainfall characteristics for A2 and B2 emission scenarios. However the study found that the predictors that explain rainfall patterns in the area were Shum, Rhum, R850 and R500; and during calibration it was found that rainfall significantly depended on these predictors at P<0.05. However, during validation, statistics show that the models performed considerably well in which case the modeled data related well with the observed data for all seasons of the year i.e. DJF season r-0.92 (r2-0.85; RMSE 0.31; RSD, 0.89) at P<0.05; MAM r-0.81 (r2-0.66; RMSE 0.41; RSD, 0.91) at P<0.05; JJA r-0.76 (r2-0.58; RMSE 0.31; RSD, 0.97) at P<0.05; SON r-0.82 (r2-0.67; RMSE 0.26; RSD, 0.82) at P<0.05. However there are some uncertainties in the data set for which caution must be taken while relying on the out puts of the model of the current study. As a result, the study recommends the use of clean technology, and a development of flood risk preparedness to deal with flood effects as a result increasing amounts of rainfall in the metropolis amongst others.

The history of the Beijing Institute of Technology (University) began in 1940 in the city of Yan’an. In 2019, two 70th anniversaries were celebrated — the establishment of the Russian- Chinese diplomatic relations and the beginning of cooperation between the Beijing Institute of Technology and Russian universities (1949–2019). 2020 became the year of the eightieth anniversary of the founding of the institute (1940–2020). In connection with this special and significant date, the generalization and outline of the history of development and experience of the Institute seems to be especially important. The history of the Russian-Chinese cooperation in higher education has been illuminated by the bright stars: the best people of the modern period and the heroes of the revolution graduated from the University of Workers of the East named after I. V. Stalin and the Sun Yat-sen University of Chinese Workers in Moscow. During the glorious but difficult early years of the People’s Republic of China, the Soviet government sent many of its educational specialists to China. Today, with the development of Russian-Chinese relations, this bilateral cooperation will only become more successful and closer. This article provides an overview of the three most important stages of cooperation between the Beijing Institute of Technology and Russian universities, on the basis of which the significant experience of the institute in this field is summarized, as well as the direction and possibility for their future cooperation in the light of “The Belt and Road” initiative, a comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China in the new era and the “double top level” program.

Abstract:
This article examines the involvement of citizens in the process of making technological decisions aimed at developing a smart environment, from smart home to urban infrastructure. The study is based on an approach that takes into account the dual behavior of the consumer of smart services - passive and active behavior. Highlighted the contradictions that create obstacles to the effective functioning of the smart city: the selective multidirectionality of the smart city development strategy and sustainable development goals; developing smart solutions for citizens without taking into account their opinions; polar approach of smart city residents to involvement in the development and implementation of smart solutions. The risks associated with the likelihood of incomplete return from the use of smart solutions are identified: consumer distrust of data security and privacy; insufficient literacy of residents regarding understanding of smart technology management processes; significant financial costs and the orientation of smart solutions to wealthy citizens; lack of sufficient evidence of the effectiveness of using a number of smart solutions; the difficulty of implementing an integrated approach to ensuring the growth of the quality of life of citizens. In accordance with the concept of the study, two directions for mitigating or eliminating risks are proposed - depending on the significant or insignificant involvement of citizens. Specific measures have been developed to help mitigate and eliminate risks. The experience of the creation of the People’s Institute of the Voronezh State Technical University was used.

Abstract:
Low-impact development (LID) has been widely used at both site-specific and local scales to try and mitigate the impact of urban stormwater runoff caused by increasing impervious urban areas. Recently, the concept of a “sponge city” was proposed by the Chinese government, which includes LID controls at the source, a pipe drainage system midway, and a drainage system for excess stormwater at the terminal. There is a need to evaluate the effectiveness of sponge city construction at the large urban catchment scale, particularly with different spatial distributions of LIDs that reduce directly connected impervious areas (DCIAs). In this paper, the performances of five design scenarios with different spatial distributions but same sizes of LID controls at the urban catchment scale were analyzed using a geographic information system (GIS) of the United States Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI)—based Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and MIKE 11 of Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI) in Xining City, China. Results confirmed the effectiveness of sponge city construction in reducing the urban stormwater runoff. The hydrological performance reduction was positively correlated and linearly dependent on DCIA reduction. Peak flow reduction was most sensitive to DCIA reduction, followed by runoff volume and peak time. As rainfall intensity increased, the hydrological performance was more sensitive to rainfall intensity than DCIA reduction. Results of this study provide new insights for stormwater managers to implement LID more effectively at the urban catchment scale.

Three case studies of research applications in the field of wastewater treatment technology in Japan are presented. The technologies being dealt with in the case studies are the two-stage dewatering of sewage sludge, the use of prefabricated panels for the construction of oxidation ditches and the multi-stage reversing-flow bioreactor (MRB) process. The main organizations in charge of development of these technologies are a city, a public corporation and a national research institute, respectively. The processes of research application as well as the associated problems are described and discussed through the case studies. The technology evaluation system that started in 1986 is also described here. This system was established in order to promote the actual use of new technologies, particularly those developed by the private sector.

This paper consists of an overview of programmes supporting sustainable planning and management in the City of Johannesburg one of the most important social and economic hubs of the transitional Republic of South Africa. Following from this is an analysis of the experience identified as most appropriate for Johannesburg City and its metropolitan region (Gauteng). This case study is used to highlight efforts and lessons learned from the international project "Designing, Implementing and Measuring Sustainable Urban Development" (DIMSUD) which have intended to contribute to new solutions for sustainable urban development through a collaborative multi-disciplinary, and participatory approach combining research, urban design, and capacity building. DIMSUD (http://sustainability.ethz.ch) is carried out jointly by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), University of Botswana, University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa) and the Catholic University of Santiago de Chile. Another partner was the United Nations University (UNU) at Tokyo. The project has enabled a global overview of core problems, providing a synthesis of realizable strategies and offering both a scientific forum and an "urban field laboratory" for joint learning. The strategies developed will not only help improve the conditions in the case study cities (Gaborone Johannesburg, Santiago de Chile), but will also provide working examples so that other cities can learn from and adapt and adopt appropriate "best practices".

E-mail: wenzhou@csu.edu.cn; chengtao@ihcams.ac.cn Background: It is generally believed that multiple myeloma (MM) cells develop from either B cells or plasma cells in the bone marrow (BM). However, the nature of the earliest precursors of MM cells is still poorly defined and existing data are conflicting regarding the origin of MM cells. How these genes cooperate with other MM-related factors to induce MM oncogenic transformation in the hematopoietic hierarchy needs to be further defined. Materials and Methods: In this study, we employed single-cell gene expression analysis of HSC-PC lineage including HSC, MLP, B cells, Plasmablasts (PBs) and Plasma cells (PC) from one health donor (HD), one paired monozygotic twin(one is HD and another one suffered with MM), MM patients at diagnosis (AD) and relapse (RE) with FGFR3/IGH translocation. 672 individual cells from the 8 population were sorted for single cell real-time PCR reaction. Results: We focused on the HSC-PC lineage because of its implication in MM and identified several differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the HSC compartment with continuous activation throughout HSC-PCs. Among those, BACH2FA and DDIT3 showed consistent up-regulation, while FOXO3 and IL1 were down-regulated continuously. 7 DEGs (SIPA1L2, RBM34, SPI1, MDM2, AKAP12, DKK1 and c-Myc) showed overlap among the three conditions (HD, AD and RE, respectively). Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed HSC-associated signatures (HAS) in overlapping and non-overlapping DEGs with poor survival outcome, p=0.000). To compare genetic alterations between sporadic and hereditary MM patients, we analyzed two groups of DEGs - one from sporadic MM patients (AD) and HD; the other from the hereditary MM patient (AD) and the healthy counterpart of its paired monozygotic twin- along the HSC differentiation hierarchy. We identified both overlapping and non-overlapping DEGs. For example, MDM2 and c-Myc were over-expressed at the HSC and the MLP stage, respectively, in both groups. However, ARUKA was not activated in the monozygotic twin group, presumably because of the lack of FGFR3 translocation. By using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis, we detected IGH and FGFR3 translocation in 50-60% and 11% MM patients, respectively. These chromosomal rearrangements have been used to identify tumor plasma cells. FGFR3-translocated was found in 18%, 23% and 44% for B cells, PBs and plasma cells, respectively. Our work extends previous discoveries of chromosome translocation in malignant plasma cells, suggesting existence of heterogeneity in cells with FGFR3 translocation. Furthermore, FGFR3 translocation was accompanied by alteration of ARUKA. While B cell differentiation associated genes begin to express in the plasmablast stage, expression of multi-drug resistance genes occurs only in plasma cells in relapsed patients. Together, these molecular alterations likely constitute key elements of a sophisticated genetic program underlying the occurrence of MM. Conclusion: Our findings reveal the existence of genetically distinct cellular origins of MM cells from the HSC differentiation hierarchy within each MM tumor mass. FGFR3 translocation was accompanied by alteration of ARUKA, indicating FGFR3 translocation might cause CIN gene activation. Finally, we find that a small percentage of HSCs from MM patients could harbor oncogenic activation, thereby pointing to the need of a more vigorous quality control in autologous HSC transplantation for MM patients. Abstract:
The smart city trend has generated considerable interest in using digital technology to transform urban planning and governance, and in the UK the government funded Connected Places Catapult has been given the remit of stimulating innovation in cities. One of its focuses is urban planning and technology (#PlanTech) which has garnered attention from the Royal Town Planning Institute, a vast number of the UK local authorities, academia and technology companies. #PlanTech aims to revolutionise the urban planning industry across public, private and not for profit sectors in an era where fiscal austerity has catalysed a drive for using advanced technologies to improve the efficiency of operations and decision making. Technological innovation is being promoted to enable local authorities to deliver services with significantly reduced financial resources while simultaneously creating a modernised and more efficient public sector. Within this context, this article uses a detailed ethnographic study of planning functions in Coventry City Council, UK, to analyse how they have adapted so far in response to both austerity and the drive for digital innovation. The article concludes by examining how #PlanTech and digital social innovation may help deliver the broader smart city strategy.

A study to determine the financial benefits of intercropping immature rubber plantation with cassava in South Eastern Nigeria was carried out at the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria, Iyanomo near Benin City. The study was set up in a randomized complete block design with each treatment replicated three times. Yield data generated were used to determine the profitability of the systems. The results showed economic yield from rubber as the rubber trees did not attain tappable girth throughout the duration of the study. a mean yield of about 25.72 tonnes of cassava tuber were generated from the sole cassava treatments for the four years period while a mean yield of about 22.92 tonnes of cassava tuber per hectare were generated from the cassava + rubber intercrop treatments in the same period. A total amount of 160,000 Naira was spent in four years as cost of intercropping. Total revenue generated from the sales of cassava in the rubber + cassava system was 900, 000.00 Naira per hectare with a Gross Margin and profit margin of 740,000 Naira and 673, 090.98 Naira respectively. A profitability index of the rubber + cassava system was 0.75, indicating that, 75% of the total amount invested in the rubber + cassava system was recovered in the first four years compared to the additional costs incurred in the sole rubber plantation treatment. This study showed that intercropping cassava with rubber during the immature phase of rubber plantation guarantee early return on investment and more profitable compared with sole rubber plantation systems.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to cite the statistical data reflecting the trends and tendencies in research activity undertaken by Chandigarh city affiliations. The period under study is from 1964 to the first quarter of 2014. Scopus is the source of information retrieved. Various parameters like decade-wise growth of publications, publications of individual institutions, number of patents earned by each institute of Chandigarh under study, research productivity of top five authors of seven city-based institutes, document type, highly cited papers, research output of authors of parent institute vis-á-vis their affiliations with other institutes, collaborations at national and international levels have been taken into consideration for this paper. Institutes which have come up in the past 2-3 decades have also been contributing actively. An important finding of the paper undertaken is that foreign collaborations and foreign journals have remained the epicenter of the research activity. Chandigarh has emerged as a hub of academic and scholarly activity. It also reflects that the city-based research activity is also integrated into the global research activity. Design/methodology/approach The present paper reviews the publication output of Chandigarh city affiliations from 1964 to 2014. The publication data were procured from Scopus, which is an international multi-disciplinary bibliographical database covering 53m records, more than 20,000 titles and 5,000 publishers. It is a product of Elsevier and is the considered the world’s largest indexing and abstracting database and offers citation searching. Launched in 2004, it provides access to science–technology–medicine (STM) literature with a limited coverage of social science and arts and humanities. Database search was undertaken on May 22nd, 2014, and results were downloaded under various headings like year, author, number of publications, document type, affiliations and collaborations with other nations. The whole data were exported to MS-Excel format from Scopus database. Data of 160 authors were retrieved on the basis of at least one author affiliated to a research institution in Chandigarh. The paper was conducted by focussing on top seven institutes of Chandigarh engaged in diverse fields. These are Panjab University (PU), Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Govt. Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Punjab Engineering College (PEC), University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) and Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO). Although UIPS is an integral part of PU, Scopus has treated it as a separate institution and so have the researchers. The researchers have used simple percentile method to find out the growth in research output of these institutes in six decades covering the period from 1964 to the first quarter of 2014, collaborations with other nations and affiliations with other institutes. Taking into consideration the number of publications, their citations and h index, the researchers have tried to find out the most productive authors from these institutes. Although the research process in Panjab University was started early in 1926 as revealed by Scopus, to maintain the uniformity with the research process initiated by other city-based institutes, the authors have taken 1964 as the year of initiation of data analysis for writing this paper. Each city-based institute has to its credit research publications in more than 20 diverse subject areas. Due to this diversity, data could not be analyzed under subject areas. To study the research output of Chandigarh city affiliations for the past 50 years and the current year, the authors have divided the years into five decades and additional few months of 2014. Findings There has been a phenomenal growth in the research productivity of city-based institutes, which was nil or negligible from 1964 to 1983, except Panjab University and PGI. The research activity gained momentum with every passing decade. PGI and PU have emerged as frontrunners in research productivity, but at the same time, IMTECH and UIPS have also performed well on this front too. As compared to PGI and PU, which came up in 1962 and 1956 (Chandigarh), respectively, IMTECH and UIPS are of recent origin, that is, 1984 and 1994, respectively. In the first decade of its establishment, UIPS generated 27 per cent of its total research output. Not only this, the institute has fetched maximum number of patents (89) in just two decades and that too with 1,259 publications only. IMTECH has also been coming up with qualitative research since its establishment in 1984. It has to its credit 37 patents from 1,290 publications. Major research findings took the form of articles and that too in journals. Another remarkable feature of UIPS and IMTECH is that their publications have fetched maximum citations as compared to other institutes. Comparing all the seven institutes, the authors have concluded that the authors of Panjab University have made maximum affiliation with the authors of with other national and international institutes in generating research output. Panjab University tops the list of city-based institutes by collaborating with 97 different nations. PGI has taken second slot by collaborating with 88 countries. From a list of 100 collaborating nations, USA has emerged as the major collaborating nation. Chandigarh has emerged as an education hub. It has many institutes of repute in different domains. Consequently, the research scenario is very encouraging. Researchers have a vision and are active in exploring the emerging horizons as is evident from the paper. National and international collaborations also form the basis of growth of research productivity. Government should provide all round support and upgrade the existing infrastructure to enhance further the research output of the city. Originality/value Various bibliometric studies have also been conducted to know about the trends and patterns in the research publications. From a single institute, journal to a state, the analysis of research activity has become an area of focus. The present paper takes into account the research productivity in seven major academic institutes of Chandigarh, the city beautiful as revealed by Scopus.

Abstract:
Abstract Kandy City is a UNESCO world heritage site. Being the second largest city in Sri Lanka and host to the annual Esala Perahara festival, it has a floating population two to three times its 120,000 permanent residents. Among the city's key landmarks is Kandy Lake, a culturally, environmentally, and economically significant ornamental lake. Nevertheless, inadequate urban development regulation has resulted in serious pollution of the lake. An integrated remedial measure was needed to improve the urban lake's water quality sustainably, for the Kandy community and their cultural heritage. A project was initiated by the University of Peradeniya (UOP), Sri Lanka, and the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI), Singapore. It started with modelling of Kandy Lake and community surveys, demonstrated implementation of wastewater management technologies (floating wetlands and an aerobic sequencing batch reactor (SBR)), and initiated community outreach with schools. The project also involved local authorities and government agencies in Kandy, and provided an informal cooperation platform. After project handover on July 10, 2014, further developments were observed in Kandy, including implementation of sewerage and centralised wastewater treatment, rehabilitation of Kandy Lake and the Mid-Canal, and integration of Kandy Lake into the city's development plan and regulations.

Abstract:
The work of the leading scientist in the field of mechanics – Vikentii Khomych Gerburt-Geibovych is analyzed. He became one of those who, after the successful graduation from the Kharkiv Practical Technological Institute, stayed in this educational establishment as a teacher. In addition, his further activities contributed to the establishment of higher technical education in Ukraine. It should be noted that for a long time the name of this scientist was out of the attention of historians of science and technology. Therefore, taking into account the scientific work by V. Gerburt-Geibovych, as well as the using of archival materials, it is worthwhile the outlining of the results of the scientific activity of this scientist. Information about the future scientist's family is provided. In particular, it is stated that he was from a noble family. The talented graduate of KhPTI was invited to work at this educational institution. It is shown what subjects the scientist taught. Heredity in teaching the course of flour-mill production from the teacher – Professor K. Zworykin to the student – V. Gerburt-Geibovych was traced. The information about the probation of a scientist at the enterprises of Russian Empire is considered. V. Gerburt-Geibovych᾽s formation as a scientist is shown. For example in 1902 the scientist withProfessor G. O. Latyshev, on behalf of the Kharkiv Agricultural Society, became one of the organizersof ploughs testing at Yankivsky Estate of the merchant P.I. Kharitonenko. In order to maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and exchange of information in 1909, the scientist visited the IX congress of flour mills and the 1st All-Russian flour-grinding exhibition held in St. Petersburg in the so-called «salt city». In 1911, the scientist was in a scientific trip in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland, where he inspected the several mills, elevators and factories that produced machines for mills. The activity of the scientist in the development of a new course of lectures – wood technology is analyzed. His research not only in the field of mechanics but also in botany is shown. The expert work of the scientist, including in the equipping of the salt-making plant and in the designing of mills, is shown. The activity of the scientist at the posts of the deputy chairman of the Student technical society and the chairman of the Committee for the needy students of KhTI are considered. Every month Academic Committee received a request from the students for material assistance. Funds for such payments were provided by citizens from all over the Russian Empire who arranged special evenings, performances for the students of the KhTI, some of them left the wills, where the estates departing in favor of students. The scientist had to consider applications, manage the distribution of funds and made reports. On the pages of «Proceedings of South Russian Association of Technologists» the reports about received funds were published: sponsors were indicated by name and the amount of donations The information about cooperation of V.Gerburt-Geibovych with the Southern Russian Society of Technologists, the editorial office of the «Melnyk» magazine and the edition "People's Encyclopedia" was provided. In particular, in 1910, he published his articles «About the article A.M. Erlanger»,«Effect on the quality of the flour of forced work of roller machines and prepacking», «About the needing of thorough separation of small impurities before the grain delivering to cockler». Next year, in the magazine «Melnyk», he published his article «About cooklers and methods of grain cleaning». It was shown that the scientist was one of the founders of women's polytechnic education in Ukraine. The presence of five daughters in the family became a significant incentive for Vikentii Khomych to open the Women's Polytechnic Institute in Kharkiv. The first years of functioning of this newly created institution are considered. It is alleged that wife of a scientist and one of the daughters graduated from the Women's Polytechnic Institute. In addition, in June 1919 Vikentii Khomych elected the vice-rector of the Kharkov Technological Institute. Emphasis is made on significant stress in the work, which led to a weakening of the scientist's health. Thanks to interviewing of relatives of the scientist, the year of his death was ascertained. Despite a rather short life course, only 48 years old, the scientist has left a distinctive mark in the history of the Kharkiv Technological Institute, which he graduated from. The memory of prominent ancestor remains among his descendants.

Abstract:
Background: Several risk managem-ent standards had been developed including the Project Management Institute, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, actuarial societies, and ISO standards. Objective: The study aimed at evaluating risk management among managers of model and ordinary primary health care centers in Baghdad City and comparing the risk management among these centers. Methods: A descriptive comparative design was carried throughout the present study at 55 primary health care centers; 15 model primary health care centers and 40 ordinary health care centers in Baghdad City. The study was initiated from May 25th 2017 up to January 25th 2018. Non-probability (purposive) sample of 55 managers of primary health care centers was selected of 15 model primary health care centers and 40 ordinary primary health care centers in Baghdad City. A questionnaire was constructed for the purpose of the study. The overall number of items included in the questionnaire is 20 items. Internal consistency "split-half" reliability was obtained through computation of Cronbach alpha correlation coefficient. Data were collected through the employment of the questionnaire and the interview technique as means of data collection. Data were analyzed through the application of descriptive and inferential statistical data analysis approaches. Results: The study revealed that most of the managers of both model and ordinary primary health care centers had employed poor performance of standards of risk management of method of identifying risk (67%) (52.5%); risk management process (67%)(55%); potential risk treatments (60%)(67.5%); and cardinal rules for the practices of risk communication (60%)(50%) respectively. Conclusions: Managers of both sites unfortunately had performed the risk management standards inadequately.

Abstract:
Three dining rooms located in east and south campus of Zhengzhou Institute of Aeronautical Industry Management were selected as the sampling points for the research. The kitchen waste disposal in Zhengzhou city was in a disorder state, and there was great space for the policy and social demand of the concentrating recycling of kitchen waste. The kitchen waste contained 19.52% of crude protein, 4.08% of crude fiber, 21.19% of fat, and 29.67% of total starch. After enzymolysis of the organic matter in the kitchen waste, the crude protein was degraded 61.17%, the crude fiber was degraded 50.90%, the crude fat was degraded 27.42%, the total starch was degraded 71.22%. The next stage of important research problems for the kitchen waste treatment were desalination and degrease technology, secondary pollution control technology, and the technology of reducing the inputs of auxiliary material.

Abstract:
3D city model is a digital representation of the Earth’s surface and it’s related objects such as building, tree, vegetation, and some manmade feature belonging to urban area. The demand of 3D city modeling is increasing rapidly for various engineering and non-engineering applications. Generally four main image based approaches were used for virtual 3D city models generation. In first approach, researchers were used Sketch based modeling, second method is Procedural grammar based modeling, third approach is Close range photogrammetry based modeling and fourth approach is mainly based on Computer Vision techniques. SketchUp, CityEngine, Photomodeler and Agisoft Photoscan are the main softwares to represent these approaches respectively. These softwares have different approaches & methods suitable for image based 3D city modeling. Literature study shows that till date, there is no complete such type of comparative study available to create complete 3D city model by using images.

This paper gives a comparative assessment of these four image based 3D modeling approaches. This comparative study is mainly based on data acquisition methods, data processing techniques and output 3D model products. For this research work, study area is the campus of civil engineering department, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (India). This 3D campus acts as a prototype for city. This study also explains various governing parameters, factors and work experiences. This research work also gives a brief introduction, strengths and weakness of these four image based techniques. Some personal comment is also given as what can do or what can’t do from these softwares.

At the last, this study shows; it concluded that, each and every software has some advantages and limitations. Choice of software depends on user requirements of 3D project. For normal visualization project, SketchUp software is a good option. For 3D documentation record, Photomodeler gives good result. For Large city reconstruction; CityEngine is a good product. Agisoft Photoscan software creates much better 3D model with good texture quality and automatic processing. So this image based comparative study is useful for 3D city user community. Thus this study will provide a good roadmap for geomatics user community to create photo-realistic virtual 3D city model by using image based techniques.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper explores water consumption in Dhaka city for better understanding of its usage, and considers the implications of findings from distributive rationale. Using 459 household survey data collected by BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), this study estimates income elasticities of water consumption after controlling the effects of other covariates including wealth-proxies, location, household size, water bill and spatial zones using the instrumental variable regression (IVREG) and instrumental variable quantile regression (IVQREG) approaches. The latter has an additive advantage over the former as the IVQREG provides a more accurate picture of the relationship of water consumption with the income throughout the entire water consumption distribution. Using the fixed pay variable as instrument, findings reveal the strong evidence that income is endogenous. The IVQREG results show that income elasticities are heterogeneous and vary significantly across the water quantiles, implying inequality in water consumption. It also provides strong systematic evidence as income elasticity of water consumption decreases with the increase in percentile. Significant spatial inequality in water consumption from IVREG approach disappears as we use IVQREG. This also strongly supports the systematic evidence obtained. Therefore, it is imperative to introduce different tariff structures among different water consumer groups for bringing equity in water consumption and revenue generation. However, Dhaka Water Supply & Sewerage Authority (DWASA) must ensure smart water meter before implementing such tariff structure as we face severe challenges while measuring residential water consumption.
