Abstract:
Unilateral tubal ectopic pregnancies (UTEP) are commonly encountered by physicians. Bilateral tubal ectopic pregnancies (BTEPs), however, are rare and due to the identical clinical presentations of BTEP and UTEP, there is a significant degree of diagnostic difficulty for the former, requiring a high index of suspicion. It should be considered a possibility in any newly pregnant woman of child-bearing age. The purpose of this article is to provide the reader with an example of a clinical presentation of BTEP, and a discourse on management of these patients. We present a case of a 27-year-old pa

Subsequent development and implantation of embryo outside the uterine lining are defined as an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancies have a wide range of presentations, for example, acute hemoperitoneum to chronic ectopic pregnancy. The case presented is an unusual case of ectopic pregnancy with large hematosalpinx with classic symptoms. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this case is the largest intact tubal ectopic pregnancy reported ever in the 14th week of gestation. A 40-year-old patient presented to the emergency department with lower abdominal pain, mild dysuria, and loose motion.

Ectopic pregnancy is a life threatening condition and can present itself in diverse ways. This case reports a 23 years primigravida, admitted with history of amenorrhoea of ten weeks and right sided unruptured tubal pregnancy diagnosed on routine ultrasonography. On laparoscopy, there was an unruptured tubal pregnancy with gestational sac measuring around 6 × 5 cm. The foetus had crown rump length of 32 mm and foot length of 5 mm; both of which correspond probably to 10 to 11 weeks size. Segmental resection of the affected part of the fallopian tube was done laparoscopically. Rarely tubal preg

Objective: To map management of different types of ectopic pregnancies in the Czech Republic using a questionnaire-based study. Methods: In 2023, a total of 95 obstetrics and gynecology departments across the Czech Republic were surveyed using an online questionnaire, which inquired about the management strategies for various types of ectopic pregnancies. The departments were categorized based on the number of hysterectomies performed annually. Differences in responses between large centers and other departments were statistically compared. Results: A total of 45 departments of all sizes compl

BACKGROUND Ectopic pregnancy is not only the gynaecologist’s most critical emergency but also one of the major problems because of its difficulties in diagnosis, increased risks of mortality, and its profound implications with regard to future reproductive performance. We wanted to study the types and accuracy of various diagnostic modalities, and effect of various management modalities of ectopic pregnancy. METHODS This study was conducted at Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Kanchipuram, for a period of 32 months from May 2010 to October 2012. During the same period,

Non-tubal ectopic pregnancy is a rare form of ectopic pregnancy with high morbidity and mortality. The diagnosis of non-tubal ectopic pregnancy requires a high index of suspicion. Clinical history, physical examination, and laboratory and ultrasonographic features may all be non-specific. Fortunately, a low threshold for diagnosis, urine and serum beta-human chorionic gonadotrophin (β-hCG) assays and transvaginal sonography allow earlier diagnosis. Consequently, both maternal survival rates and conservation of reproductive capacity are improved. We present 2 cases of non-tubal ectopic pregnanc

Background: Ectopic pregnancy mainly refers to tubal pregnancy and abdominal pregnancy. Tubal pregnancy presents as an implanted embryo that develops in the fallopian tubes, and is relatively common in humans. In animals, tubal pregnancy occurs primarily in primates, for example monkeys. The probability of a tubal pregnancy in non-primate animals is extremely low. Abdominal pregnancy is a type of ectopic pregnancy that occurs outside of the uterus, fallopian tube, ovary, and ligament(broad ligament, ovarian ligament, suspensory ligament). This paper describes two cases of ectopic pregnancy in c

The evolution of the process can take two different directions. If an intact pregnancy continues to grow, there is a tubal abortion or a rupture of the Fallopian tube. In the oppsote case, there is spontaneous resorption of the tubal pregnancy. In certain cases with the application of methotrexate, the ectopic pregnancy growth can be interrupted and spontaneous resorption can be induced. Nowadays, the international standards of treating patients with early ectopic gravidities and no peritoneal effusions, with ?-HCG values below 6000 Ul/I, gestational sac diameter below 3 cm, and without any vi

AbstractThe human species is biologically distinguished by low fertility. In fact, with each menstrual cycle, a couple at the peak of their reproductive capacity has only about a 30% chance of conceiving. The WHO states infertility as “a disease of the reproductive system defined by the failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular unprotected intercourse.”Assisted reproductive technology (ART) consists of all treatments or procedures that include the in vitro handling of both human oocytes and sperm or of embryos, for the purpose of establishing a pregnancy. The te
