Abstract:
As the complexity of microprocessors increases, functional verification becomes more difficult and emerges as the bottleneck of the design cycle. In this paper, we suggest a functional verification methodology, especially for compatible microprocessor designs. To guarantee perfect compatibility with previous microprocessors, we developed three C models in different abstraction levels, i.e. Polaris, MCV and StreC. An instruction behavioral level C model (Polaris) is verified using the slowed-down PC. In the implemetation of micro-architecture, a micro-operational level model (MCV) and RTL model (StreC) are co-simulated with consistency checking between these two models. The simulation speed of C models makes it possible to test the "real-world" application programs on the RTL design with a software board model (VPC). To increase the confidence level of verifications, Profiler reports the verification coverage of the test program, which is fed-back to the automatic test program generator (Pandora). The Restartability feature also helps to significantly reduce the total simulation time. Using the proposed verification methodology, we designed and verified the HK486, an Intel 80486 pin-compatible microprocessor successfully.

Abstract:
The microprocessor that became the machine for the IBM PC / XT microcomputers and their compatible. This processor is often referred to as simply "8088" or "8086". Although the hardware of the 8088 is slightly different from the 8086, they can be viewed as the same from a programming perspective. The Intel 8088/8086 is a 16 bit processor, meaning that the data path and registers are 16 bits in size. The addressing mode is divided into several types, among others, register addressing, immediate addressing, direct addressing and indirect addressing. In addition, in learning Assembly language, we must memorize all registers and understand their use. Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) is a variety of information in the way of learning. Computers as a medium will help students find new things that are more interesting than conventional teacher-centered ways. Although it is known that the ways of learning and teaching, as well as the acquisition of learning information for each individual are different.

Abstract:
The purpose of this research is to have simulation software capable of processing interrupt instruction and I/O operation that in the future it can contribute in developing a kernel. Interrupt and I/O operation are necessary in the development of the kernel system. Kernel is a medium for hardware and software to communicate. However, Not many application software which helps the learner to understand interrupt process. In managing the hardware, there are times when some kind of condition exist in the system that needs attention of processor or in this case kernel which managing the hardware. In response to that condition, the system will issue an interrupt request to sort that condition. As the I/O operation is needed since a computer system not just consists of CPU and memory only but also other device such as I/O device. This paper elaborates the application software for learning Interrupt application. With interrupt instruction and I/O operation in the simulation program, the program will be more represent the process happened in the real life computer. In this case, the program is able to run the interrupt instruction, I/O operation and other changes are running as expected. Refers to its main purpose, perhaps this simulation can lead to developing the kernel in operating system. From the results of instruction’s testing above, has a result that shows that 90% of instructions are run properly. In executing instructions, simulation program still has a bug following after the execution of Jump and conditional Jump. Index Terms—Interrupt; I/O; Kernel; Operating System REFERENCES [1] C. Abstract:
The thesis describes a Universal meta cross assembler and an emulator for the Intel 8086 microprocessor. The utility is designed to be used as an instructional tool to teach assembly language programming to students. One implementation is available to allow students to run Intel 8086 programs on the university's vax mainframe, so that students can test their programs at their convenience. This setup also results in low operating costs with no additional equipment requirements. Several options are provided in the emulator to debug the 8086 assembly language programs composed by students. The assembler, besides generating Intel 8086 machine code, has the capability to generate machine code for a number of microprocessors or microcontrollers. The machine code file generated by the assembler is the input to the emulator. Both the assembler and the emulator are completely portable and can be recompiled to run on any system with a standard C compiler.

Abstract:
The Cross Compiler is an excellent and valuable program development tool. It provides to the user a low level compiled language that allows character (byte), integer (8086 word) and pointer (8086 one word address) manipulation. It also allows recursion, has modern flow and a rich set of operators. The Communication Program which include file transfer utility allows the student to download or upload their C program to a PC. It allows use of the Modem. The file transferring can be done using XON/XOFF or XMODEM. It also supports INS 8250 UART chip, plus 16450 high speed device found in hardware such as IBM AT Serial/Parallel Adapter.
