Abstract:
Modern machine tools mainly affect the environment by their energy consumption during operational life. Model-based strategies could be used for decreasing the energy consumption of machine tools. To enable the use of these strategies in machine controls, model-based optimizers and control information need to be connected to an intelligent energy controller. This paper introduces an approach to an intelligent energy controller for machine tools, validated by process and component optimizers.

Abstract:
Conventional robot system design is either classified as a built-in centralized approach in which one processor on a robot controls all devices or as a module distributed approach in which several processors in a built-in network communicate and each processor controls several devices. The built-in centralized approach is limited by the number of devices on the robot. The module distributed approach has no such limitation, but requires changes in software or built-in network topology when devices are added. This paper describes a device distributed approach to realize a simple, expandable robot system that enables a number of devices to be attached or added to a built-in robot without significant changes to software and hardware. The robot system based on a device distributed approach consists of a serial bus connected to intelligent devices. Each device such as sensors and actuators has a processor for communication and calculation, so devices are added by connecting them to the serial network. We developed intelligent servos and intelligent sensors as prototypes of intelligent devices using super microprocessors with a 3×3 mm footprint, and build small humanoid robots to confirm the expandability of a robot, in which intelligent servos realize a wiring saving robot, a many DOF robot, and easy device addition.

Abstract:
Control engineering in renewable energy systems is a delicate and tedious task, especially due to the unpredictable nature of the renewable resources, which requires precision and robustness. These requirements can be ensured using intelligent control, which provides better performance than many conventional techniques and methods. This paper focuses on the modeling and the intelligent control of the NEREIDA wave power plant of Mutriku in Spain. In this context, the design of two novel intelligent airflow controls for a stalling-free operation of the Wells turbine-based power take-off system is presented and compared. The airflow control will ensure the avoidance of the stalling behavior using an intelligent PID controller. The first control design methodology is based on the metaheuristic algorithms to ensure the optimization of the controller gains. The second methodology is based on the fuzzy gain scheduling of the gains. Two study cases were performed to compare the optimized-PID and FGS-PID to a conventional PID in two wave conditions. The results show the superior performance of both proposed controls over the conventional PID, providing power generation improvement in regular and irregular waves.

Abstract:
This paper describes the use of an artificial neural network in conjunction with reinforcement learning techniques to develop an intelligent scheduling system that is capable of learning from experience. In a simulated environment the model controls a mobile robot that transports material to machines. States of ‘happiness’ are defined for each machine, which are the inputs to the neural network. The output of the neural network is the decision on which machine to service next. After every decision, a critic evaluates the decision and a teacher ‘rewards’ the network to encourage good decisions and discourage bad decisions. From the results obtained, it is concluded that the proposed model is capable of learning from past experience and thereby improving the intelligence of the system.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is essentially the simulation of human intelligence. Today’s AI can only simulate, replace, extend, or expand part of human intelligence. In the future, the research and development of cutting-edge technologies such as brain-computer interface (BCI) together with the development of the human brain will eventually usher in a strong AI era, when AI can simulate and replace human’s imagination, emotion, intuition, potential, tacit knowledge, and other kinds of personalized intelligence. Breakthroughs in algorithms represented by cognitive computing promote the continuous penetration of AI into fields such as education, commerce, and medical treatment to build up AI service space. As to human concern, namely, who controls whom between humankind and intelligent machines, the answer is that AI can only become a service provider for human beings, demonstrating the value rationality of following ethics.

In this paper, we propose a Fuzzy Regulator Effective Random Early Detection (FRERED) system, which is an intelligent fuzzy logic based controller technique for early stage congestion detection, at the router buffer in the networks. The proposed technique extends the Fuzzy-Based system in the Fuzzy Hybrid ERED algorithm by considering the delay variable in its inference system to ease the problem of parameter initialization and parameter dependency. Unlike the Fuzzy-Based controller in the existing Fuzzy Hybrid ERED system which uses two parameter settings in its inference system that is, the queue size and average queue length in computing the dropping probability of packets. The proposed technique uses the queue size, average queue length and the delay approximation as input variables in computing the packet drop probability. The applied fuzzy logic system yields an output that denotes a packet dropping probability, which in turn controls and prevents congestion in early stage. This was achieved after simulating the proposed technique and the existing Fuzzy-Based controller using Matlab. The results obtained shows that this approach results in less packet drops for about the same link utilization as the existing Fuzzy-Based controller. Therefore, this technique, generally, controls network congestion and improves network performance. The methodology used to achieve this is the object oriented methodology and JAVA programming language was used to develop the system.

Abstract:
<p>Accidents have become major issue in Developing countries like India now a day. As per the Surveys 60% of the accidents are happening due to over speed. Though the government has taken so many initiatives like Traffic Awareness &amp; Driving Awareness Week etc.., but still the percentage of accidents are not getting reduced. In this paper a new technique has been introduced in order to reduce the percentage of accidents. The new technique is implemented using the concept of Intelligent Speed Braking System. The Intelligent Speed Braking systems can be implemented any where essential in order to avoid the accidents. The main objective of this system is to calculate the speed of the vehicle at three different locations based on the place where the vehicle speed has to be controlled and if the speed is greater than the designated speed in that road then it will automatically open up the speed breaker to control the speed of the vehicle. If the speed is less or equal to the designated speed in that road then the vehicle will be passed without any disturbance. This system though it won’t avoid 100% accidents at least it will reduce the percentage of accidents. This is system is not only to avoid accidents it will also intelligently controls the speed of the vehicles and creates awareness amongst the drivers.</p>

Abstract:
A Recent concept of distribution infrastructure plays a vital role in the efficient utilization of energy. To avoid global warming and greenhouse gas emission, carbon based power plant should be replaced with distributed renewable energy (DRE) such as wind, solar etc. Renewable energy resources can be integrated to grid by intelligent electronic devices (IED). This paper deals with the novel automation architecture that supports power distribution systems to avoid power blackout and also it briefs the major requirement of the smart grid distribution system needed for a competitive world. International standard IEC 61850 and IEC 61499 provides a solution for substation automation through intelligent logical nodes (ILNs) which enhances interoperability and configurability.Later an open source platform is used for enhancing the communication that automatically generates the data model and communication nodes for intelligent electronic devices. However for future requirements in smart grid, the addition of new functions as well as the adaptation of function for IEDs is necessary. A concept of reconfigurable software architecture is introduced for integrating distributed and renewable energy resources. Such interfaces and services provide adaptation of the functional structure and contribute efficient Smart Grid system. This survey summarizes the communication infrastructure of smart energy system.

Abstract:
To achieve the desired dynamic impedance and the smooth chamfer contour, some adaptive controls and intelligent control schemes are incorporated in the impedance control for uncertain constrained robot systems. Most of them still result in an uneven chamfer for its characteristics in nature as the burrs vary highly. In this paper, an intelligent force controller based on impedance control with a neural network compensator is proposed for the robotic deburring process. The compensator is used to deal with the various burrs by modifying the input command according to the contact force and reference position. The performance of the intelligent force controller is compared with the conventional impedance control. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is testified by simulation experiments of the robotic deburring process.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has undertaken the Intelligent Vehicle Initiative (IVI) to improve transportation safety and productivity by accelerating the progressive deployment of intelligent transportation systems/automated highway system (ITS/AHS) technologies. Commercial vehicle operations (CVO) stand a unique chance to benefit from this initiative. Truck manufacturers and the trucking industry have made great progress in raising the standards of safety and operating efficiency over the past few years, but further significant advancements can be accomplished only by increased automation of vehicle controls and operations. That opportunity is addressed.

Abstract:
Versatile engineering applications have been developed to assist, reduce, and avoid human being from any heavy or harmful manufacturing processes. The gradually increased demand in force and position controls have simultaneously increased the usage of Electro-Hydraulic Servo (EHS) system. However, the time varying characteristics such as high-speed, outburst starting and stopping dynamic have led the EHS system to suffer from uncertainties and nonlinearities effects. Therefore, in order to enhance the performance of an EHS to surmount the uncertain and nonlinear effects, a hybrid Fuzzy-PID control strategy is developed which particularly improve the accuracy of the system by enhancing the control performance during the positioning tracking. By measuring the performance of the proposed control approach, the transient response and steady-state analysis will be performed which taking linear and intelligent control strategies as the references in the assessment process. The finding indicates the capability of a hybrid Fuzzy-PID controller in reducing the control effort applied to the EHS system.

Abstract:
The smart home is now an established area of interest and research that contributes to comfort in modern homes. With the Internet being an essential part of broad communication in modern life, IoT has allowed homes to go beyond building to interactive abodes. In many spheres of human life, the IoT has grown exponentially, including monitoring ecological factors, controlling the home and its appliances, and storing data generated by devices in the house in the cloud. Smart home includes multiple components, technologies, and devices that generate valuable data for predicting home and environment activities. This work presents the design and development of a ubiquitous, cloud-based intelligent home automation system. The system controls, monitors, and oversees the security of a home and its environment via an Android mobile application. One module controls and monitors electrical appliances and environmental factors, while another module oversees the home’s security by detecting motion and capturing images. Our work uses a camera to capture images of objects triggered by their motion being detected. To avoid false alarms, we used the concept of machine learning to differentiate between images of regular home occupants and those of an intruder. The support vector machine algorithm is proposed in this study to classify the features of the image captured and determine if it is that of a regular home occupant or an intruder before sending an alarm to the user. The design of the mobile application allows a graphical display of the activities in the house. Our work proves that machine learning algorithms can improve home automation system functionality and enhance home security. The work’s prototype was implemented using an ESP8266 board, an ESP32-CAM board, a 5 V four-channel relay module, and sensors.

Abstract:
Previous studies have demonstrated CO2 absorption by soils in arid regions, where the absorbed CO2 is conjectured to be finally sequestrated in the “subterranean ocean”—groundwater. This study compares environmental controls of ocean CO2 concentration (surface ocean pCO2) and quasi-ocean CO2 concentration (deep-soil pCO2). We aim to explore the latent relationship, both linear and nonlinear between the environmental variables, and CO2 concentration, utilizing two intelligent algorithms—the partial least linear regression (PLSR) algorithm and the artificial neural network (ANN) algorithm. For quasi-ocean CO2 concentration, RPD <1.4 and R2 <40%. While for ocean CO2 concentration, RPD >1.4 and R2 is 99.7%. Linear relationships between the considered environmental controls and ocean CO2 concentration are proved; however, there is no evident relationship between most of the considered environmental controls and quasi-ocean CO2 concentration. Groundwater level is proved to be a relatively important environmental control on the quasi-ocean CO2 concentration, suggesting groundwater discharge/recharge as a significant modulator of soil CO2 absorption in arid regions.
