Abstract:
This study aims to examine the impact of differences in haptic description and style description on haptic information and product perception in their effects on consumer trust, and online purchase intentions. Experimental design with between subjects was used to test the 2 x 1 factorial design research model. Where, two groups would get random stimuli between haptic description and style description with a total sample of 100 people. The findings in this study are that haptic description has a higher influence on haptic information and product perception compared to style description. Furthermore, haptic information has a positive effect on product perception and consumer trust, but does not have an influence on online purchase intention. The findings in this study suggest that apparel businesses in Instagram are expected to be able to provide product photo quality and more detailed haptic descriptions to create better product perception in the minds of consumers. Furthermore, the sentence written on the caption is also expected to be made to be more persuasive, so that the three things suggested can increase online purchase intention.

Abstract:
E-learning systems use web service technology to develop distributed applications. Therefore, with the tremendous growth in the number of web services, finding the proper services while ensuring the independence and reusability of the learning objects in a different context has become an important issue and has attracted much interest. This article first proposes an extension of the Ontology Web Language for Services Learning Object (OWLS-LO) model to describe a multi-intentional learning object. This description ensures accessibility to learning objects. This research then presents a service discovery mechanism that uses the new semantic model for service matching. Experimental results show that the proposed semantic discovery mechanism using multi-intention model performs better than discovery mechanism based on single intention.

Abstract:
This article presents a framework for automatic generation and publishing of these service descriptions in a register. This framework is an Adaptable Intentional Web Service-Publishing Framework (AIWS-PF). The authors opted for automatic generation because the service supplier is unaware of this new structure of services. For this reason, they chose to automatically generate the description of intentional adaptable service using semantic annotations and the automatic detection of service intention through Natural Language Processing techniques (NLP). Moreover, the authors proposed an extension of UDDI register so that it saves intentional, contextual and QoS information.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of product description and involvement on purchase intention in a cross-border e-commerce (CBEC) setting from a psychological perspective. Design/methodology/approach This study proposes a research model of purchase intention in CBEC based on the involvement theory and commitment-involvement theory. The research model was tested using the covariance-based structural equation modeling technique. Data were collected from consumers on a popular CBEC platform in China. Findings A high-quality product description has no significant positive effect on purchase intention, but it has significant positive effects on product cognitive involvement, product affective involvement, platform enduring involvement and platform situational involvement. In addition, product affective involvement, platform enduring involvement and platform situational involvement all have significant positive effect on purchase intention, but this effect is not significant in the relationship between product cognitive involvement and purchase intention. Practical implications This study calls for sellers to optimize product descriptions on CBEC platforms in order to attract more buyers and generate more profits. Originality/value This study integrates two theories of involvement into the research model in the CBEC context. Based on this model, the authors analyzed how product description affects purchase intention under the joint influence of two involvement factors.

Abstract:
Summary Objectives: 1) To evaluate the design of the framework for computerized intention-based clinical practice guidelines; 2) to implement runtime features such as plan recognition and backtracking. Method: To evaluate the design, we implemented the heart failure guideline into GASTINE, a tool for representing and executing intention-based clinical guidelines. Result: Description of the current implementation of intention-based expressions in GASTINE and analysis of some generic shortcomings. Explanation of how these shortcomings are addressed. Presentation of how plan recognition and backtracking work and how they improve the system. Conclusion: The improved guideline system is rather flexible, i.e., it allows deviations from the guideline as long as they are in the spirit of the guideline. The recognition of actions as intended by the users facilitates a flexible decision support system. The intentions are used to explain why certain actions were suggested. Therefore it is assumed that showing the intention behind suggested actions provides a better insight into why these actions are advised.

Abstract:
This paper aims to determine whether iconic tracing gestures produced while speaking constitute part of the speaker’s communicative intention. We used a picture description task in which speakers must communicate the spatial and color information of each picture to an interlocutor. By establishing the necessary minimal content of an intended message, we determined whether speech produced with concurrent gestures is less explicit than speech without gestures. We argue that a gesture must be communicatively intended if it expresses necessary information that was nevertheless omitted from speech. We found that speakers who produced iconic gestures representing spatial relations omitted more required spatial information from their descriptions than speakers who did not gesture. These results provide evidence that speakers intend these gestures to communicate. The results have implications for the cognitive architectures that underlie the production of gesture and speech.

Abstract:
I find myself in agreement with much of Jeff McMahan's analysis. Yet I have argued in the past (initially against Judith Jarvis Thomson, but also against McMahan) that it is insufficient, and misleading, to think about warfare and its moral assessment in merely individualistic terms. My disagreements with McMahan's discussion here are mostly linked to the same fundamental reservation.McMahan describes a clear-cut dichotomy between the individualist perspective— which he endorses—and collectivist approaches. These he characterizes as recognizing (in warfare) only collective moral agency, precluding individual responsibility. But in my view, we should reject this very dichotomy and adopt instead a dual moral perspective. Our focus should not be exclusively on individual choice, action, and responsibility: This should be combined with a collective perspective. In my comments here I will illustrate this by examining McMahan's discussion of terrorism and intention. I hope thereby to show that the description of warfare as a set of individual acts must be supplemented by its description as a conflict between collectives—between nations acting through their respective armies.

Full text
Abstract:
The moral act consists of object, intention, and circumstances. The word intention, as commonly used, is often mistaken for the technical meaning of the word intention as employed by philosophers. This produces confusion in the description of moral acts. The common use of intention signifies motive, or one's reason for action. We commonly say that someone has a good intention even though what he or she does is wrong. For example, we describe someone who wants to alleviate suffering, and so euthanizes a patient, as having a good intention. To the contrary, in the Catholic moral tradition, intention means an action that is done voluntarily and knowingly. A nurse who kills a patient has a bad intention because he or she acts freely and with knowledge. Alleviating suffering is indeed a good motive for action, but motives are formulated through deliberation prior to action.

Abstract:
Previous researches on Android malware mainly focus on malware detection, and malware’s evolution makes the process face certain hysteresis. The information presented by these detected results (malice judgment, family classification, and behavior characterization) is limited for analysts. Therefore, a method is needed to restore the intention of malware, which reflects the relation between multiple behaviors of complex malware and its ultimate purpose. This paper proposes a novel description and derivation model of Android malware intention based on the theory of intention and malware reverse engineering. This approach creates ontology for malware intention to model the semantic relation between behaviors and its objects and automates the process of intention derivation by using SWRL rules transformed from intention model and Jess inference engine. Experiments on 75 typical samples show that the inference system can perform derivation of malware intention effectively, and 89.3% of the inference results are consistent with artificial analysis, which proves the feasibility and effectiveness of our theory and inference system.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to post-event discourse which plays a major part in comprehending experience and forming the image of reality in one’s mind. The aim of the research is to define the peculiarities of post-event internet discourse in the context of the COVID -19 pandemic, that has affected all the aspects of human and social activity in an unprecedented way. The approach applied was approbated earlier and comprises the description of the main referential objects of discourse and their qualitative changes in the process of discussion, as well as the characteristic of intentional content and discourse structure.Diversity of message sources and internet platforms has determined the variability of intentional characteristics of post-event discourse during the pandemic. In translating opinion and seeking support of the audience, prime significance is attached to dialogical intentions, e.g., asking for information, clarifying, finding out an opinion. Negative intentions, linked with the expression of emotional states and criticism of the discussed objects, are also relevant. At the same time, positive directionality of communicants is revealed, with the focus on the intention to support the interlocutor and express gratitude to those who distinguished themselves throughout the pandemic. Considerable modification of referential objects in the course of the discussion, their generalization and replacement and increase in number as compared to the initial message have also been uncovered.

Abstract:
Correcting mistakes is a key component in sport performance. Typically, the coach is tasked with providing this feedback. While teammates could serve this role, it is not the norm for teammates to provide this feedback (Goldsmith & Fitch, 1997). The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of coach and player sources of social influence on increasing player intention to intervene with teammates following a technical mistake. Adult soccer players (N = 170) read one of five hypothetical soccer team vignettes where the description differed in the levels of coach and player social influence about intervening with teammates. Participants rated their intention to intervene with teammates who made a technical mistake during a game. ANCOVA results indicated that the overall model was significant (p < .002). Post hoc analyses revealed that intention to intervene was higher when teams were described as having a coach that encouraged players to intervene and the team norm was for players to intervene. However, this was not the case when coach and teammate social influences were at cross purposes. This provides initial support that aligned social influences from the coach and players increase soccer players’ intentions to intervene when their teammates make technical mistakes.

The paper is a tribute to the late Stuart Hampshire's investigations of the ramifying role of intention in our conceptual scheme. It surveys the central argument of Thought and Action and the third chapter of Freedom of the Individual. Emphasis is placed upon Hampshire's constructive account of human agency and consequent description of the manner in which perception and action are interwoven. His analysis of the character of intentional action, self-knowledge and autonomy is described. Various lacunae in Hampshire's account are identified and an attempt is made to fill them in in a manner consistent with Hampshire's insights.

Abstract:
One of the crucial issues for developing computer aided conceptual design system is representation of functions which represent designers’ intention. Representing functions is also crucial not only for representing design objects but also for describing conceptual design processes, in which designers operate mainly functional concepts. Namely, function is a key concept to integrate object modeling and process modeling in design. In this paper, first we extend the FBS (Function-Behavior-State) diagram, which we have already proposed, by introducing three additional concepts for representing a function; namely, function body that represents designers’ intention directly, function modifier that qualifies a function body, and objective entity on which the function body occurs. This extended FBS diagram, called FBS/m (modifier) diagram, enables us to represent designers’ intention more precisely than the original FBS diagram. Then, we propose an FEP (Functional Evolution Process) model to represent design processes. In the FEP model, the FBS model of a design object is evolved through three steps, i.e., functional actualization, functional evaluation and functional operation. Functional actualization depicts a process to obtain physical descriptions from functional description. Functional evaluation is a process to measure realizability of functions of the design object. Functional operation is a process to operate functions to improve the design. Based on the FEP model, we analyze an actual design process, and show that the FEP model is suitable for representing designers’ intention along with design processes.

Recent years have seen significant advances in machine perception, which have enabled AI systems to become grounded in the world. While AI systems can now "read" and "see", they still cannot read between the lines and see through the lens, unlike humans. We propose the novel task of hidden message and intention identification: given some perceptual input (i.e., a text, an image), the goal is to produce a short description of the message the input transmits and the hidden intention of its author, if any. Not only will a solution to this task enable machine perception technologies to reach the next level of complexity, but it will be an important step towards addressing a task that has recently received a lot of public attention, political manipulation in social media.

Abstract:
The author of the article states that in spite of the fact that manipulation has been broadly studied in various areas of science, such as psychology, sociology, politology, linguistics, etc., countermanipulation (the response action to manipulation) has been analysed mainly by psychologists. This phenomenon has not been studied in linguistics yet. The author of the article gives a linguotypological description of the verbal countermanipulation tactics as exemplified in political video blogs reviewing the events with the participation of A. Navalny. A special two-stage algorithm which included a communicative pragmatic analysis was used for revealing countermanipulative intention in political video blogs. The first stage included attentive viewing of the videos and their analysis to determine manipulation upon certain criteria (a hidden aim, use of non-cooperative strategies and tactics and special verbal manipulative techniques). The second stage consisted of analysing the response utterances to define countermanipulative intention (neutralising manipulation), identification of countermanipulative tactics, their definition and classification. As a result of the conducted research, the author of the article has distinguished two groups of countermanipulative tactics: overt opposition tactics and covert opposition tactics. The group of overt opposition tactics includes the tactic of manipulative intention revealing, the tactic of making a question about manipulator’s intentions, the tactic of manipulation technique revealing, the tactic of counterargumentation and the tactic of refusing to change one’s behaviour towards manipulator’s intentions. The covert opposition tactics are the tactic of clarification questions and the tactic of repeating the manipulator’s words. The author points out the importance of further study of verbal countermanipulation from the perspective of solving the problems of the personal and social information security.

Abstract:
The study aims to prove the influence of local wisdom, learning, attitudes on the intentions and behavior of indigenous peoples in behaving sustainably or preserving forest resources in East Kalimantan Province. The population in this study is customary law communities, namely groups of people who have local wisdom in protecting and managing the environment sustainably in the province of East Kalimantan. The purposive sampling method was used to select districts and villages as sample areas, namely the districts of Berau, East Kutai, and West Kutai with a total population of 12,483. The sample of customary law communities was taken using the nonprobability sampling technique, which includes incidental sampling and purposive sampling of 387 indigenous respondents. Subsequently, in-depth interviews were conducted with 11 customary law community leaders as informants to produce more facts, complete the study description of the phenomenon being studied, and strengthen the research analysis. As a result, local wisdom has influenced the intentions and behavior of indigenous and tribal peoples to conserve forest resources. Learning can increase intention and influence community behavior to conserve forest resources. The attitude of the customary law community in supporting the preservation of forest resources has no effect on the intention to conserve forest resources and the stronger the intention to conserve forest resources, the more it will affect the behavior of the customary law community in conserving forest resources. Furthermore, the perception of indigenous and tribal peoples is that they are very supportive of the preservation of forest resources, forests are seen as an inseparable part of life due to their very high dependence on the economy.

Abstract:
The text proposes an approach to comeniology in the subjective perspective focusing on the content dimension of the research process. The considerations were based on the approach to science presented in Polish literature as a system of theorems about reality developed in the course of research. Comenius' work is considered from the perspective of the description of educational reality contained in it, which is composed of his concept of education. The intention was to present truths about the world, man and relations between them, objectively recognized by the author. The views on the concept of man, teacher and upbringing were reconstructed. Abstract:
Tangible cues are critical indicators of customer perceptions of authenticity and behavioral intentions. Few studies examine multiple dimensions of authenticity, the influence of language in service settings, and the effects of the service provider appearance. This research addresses these gaps by presenting two between-subjects experimental design studies, the first examines the tangible cues of menu presentation (menu item name and item description), and the second examines the tangible cues of the employee (ethnicity and name). Both measure customer perceptions of food, culture, and employee authenticity, customer revisit intentions, and willingness to pay more in an ethnic restaurant. Results find that using an ethnic menu name and possessing employees of referent ethnic origin have the largest impacts on customer perceptions of authenticity. Additionally, food authenticity has the largest impact on revisit intention and culture and employee authenticity have the largest impact on willingness to pay more.

Abstract:
The objective of this study has been to compare motivation, intention, fear of failure and self-efficacy in starting business ventures in Saudi Arabia. Inductive content analysis is used to identify the similarities and differences between two cites and groups of people in Saudi Arabia; both male and female entrepreneurs and those who have already established a business. Furthermore, the paper draws on data gathered from eight interviews in the cities of Riyadh and Jeddah. Four of these interviews were conducted with male entrepreneurs and the remaining four were with female entrepreneurs. A description and analysis of each entrepreneur was developed individually including short observations on the interviewees; noting movements and body language. We found the motivation for being one’s own boss is greater in Riyadh than in Jeddah (p=0.024) whereas self-efficacy is greater in Jeddah yet this difference is not significant. Regarding intention, no significant difference was found between region and gender. Finally, both regions consider fear of failure to be predictable. The study presents important contributions to theorists and practitioners in entrepreneurial activities in Saudi Arabia. Our research has contributed to the study in entrepreneurial motivation, intention, role of management, and role of culture of male and female entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia hence providing more knowledge and information towards the behavior of Saudi entrepreneurs.

This paper investigates the effect of job satisfaction on a turnover intention at the Star Hotel Semarang. We use 113 respondents using a non-probability sampling method at the Star Hotel Semarang. Using linear regression, we found the negative relationship between job satisfaction and turnover, suggesting a problematic association between job satisfaction and turnover intention. Therefore, our result suggests that other factors could be the obstacles to job satisfaction, such as the nature of the employee's work that was not under the job description, too strict supervision by the superiors, and a very long time to obtain the job promotion.

Abstract:
The article presents the analysis of author's self-presentation means in historiographical texts. The author of a historiographical text studies scientific context of historic events and therefore acts as a historian and historiographer. The current study enabled to discover the major strategies of expressing author's intentions. Those turned out to be objectiveness, appeal to documents, detached subjectivity, explicit evaluation and argumentation strategies. Dialog strategy was in the periphery. It was found that historiographical texts show the dominants common for scientific discourse in general including a pattern of “a research analyst” who uses certain techniques of proving a hypothesis by means of elaborated logical description and reasoning. The analysis of linguistic means of expressing author's intentions enabled to reveal explicit and implicit indications of those strategies. The explicit ones included adjectives sometimes used with intensifiers; nouns; set expressions and phrases with evaluative meaning; an appeal to other scientists opinion with the abundance of quotations and references. The implicit ones contained argumentation strategies including author's comments with unfortunately rare appeal to the analyst's own research results and dialog strategies with interrogative sentences and question-answer patterns indicating them.

Abstract:
Does Hegel's social philosophy leave sufficient room for individual agents, or does the Hegelian vision of self-actualisingGeistultimately swallow up individuals in an over-collectivist and all-too-metaphysical system? It depends of course on what is ‘sufficiently’ individualist and what is ‘too’ collectivist or ‘too’ metaphysical. It is common knowledge that Hegel at least tries to avoid one-sided extremes: with concepts like recognition, ethical life and objective spirit, Hegel tried to develop a view, which gives both individuality and sociality their due. To judge how well Hegel succeeds is a matter of detailed analyses. In this paper I focus on one specific topic: intentional action, or more specifically, Hegel's views on the idea of retrospective and intersubjective determination of intention. The main point is to distinguish four perspectives on human action: 1) The agent's ‘moral’ perspective and the understanding and description under which the agent acted; from this perspective we can thematise the operative intention-in-action and distinguish ‘action’ from ‘deed’. 2) The agent's retrospective awareness and appropriation of the action: was what I did really justified and did it express my true goals? 3) The retrospective takes of others concerning the action, from within relevant social practices and the prevailingSittlichkeit. 4) The perspective of Reason or Idea as emerging in world history.

Background: The intention in the Theory of Planned Behavior is preceded by attitude, perceived control, and subjective norm. This theory had been applied to hundreds of studies from many disciplines. However, when a nurse applies this theory, it requires a detail description related to Muslim wives’ intention to undertake an HIV test. This detailed concept development will help nurses in employing the nursing process accurately to achieve the target of Prevention from Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) program. Purpose: The study aims to develop a model of Muslim wives’ intention to undertake an HIV test. Methods: Concept validation of Muslim wives’ intention to undertake an HIV test was traced by using keywords “intention”, “willingness”, “desire”, “HIV tests”, “readiness”, “commitment”, “woman and HIV/AIDS”, “awareness”, in EBSCO, CINAHL, and Proquest. Results: The concept of Muslim wives’ intention was developed from existing theories as deductive origin and literature reviews as an inductive origin. The concept consists of many antecedents that being categorized into two categories includes internal and external factors and six sub-categories as follows internal commitment, knowledge, ethical values, risk perception, demographic factor and subjective norms. Both attribute and consequence key words each have one category. Conclusion: The tentative model can be generalized for other settings or situations. There is no specification that this model just for a specific gender or specific situation.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTObjectives:Dance interventions are pleasant social activities that are often offered to people with dementia in care settings. Effectiveness of dance as a psychosocial intervention for people with dementia has been studied to some extent, but several methodological issues remain unexplored. This review aimed to analyze studies on dance interventions for people with dementia and to identify practice recommendations for the development of these interventions. Methods:An electronic database search was run in December 2017 to identify records of dance interventions for people with dementia. We included all studies regardless of experimental design. Selected records were analyzed according to five criteria: study design and intentions of interventions; profile of participants and in/exclusion criteria; treatment indications and contraindications; description and performance of the interventions; and involved physical, cognitive, psychological, and social processes in dance. Results:Fourteen records were included in which various study designs were observed. Description and performance of the interventions were well documented. Nine practice recommendations for implementing dance interventions were identified according to primary intentions of the intervention (therapeutic or recreational): indications; contra-indications; participant profile; dosage; session sequencing; setting of intervention; observance/attendance; contributors and facilitators;and assessments. Conclusions:Dance is a holistic intervention that can be implemented with a therapeutic or a leisure intention. Practice recommendations about dance interventions remain incomplete and insufficiently studied. Such recommendations could be helpful for clinicians to implement dance interventions in facilities where they work to better target people who could benefit from them, and for researchers to develop research in this field.

Nowadays, e-learning offers advantages over traditional learning in terms of independence. Moreover, adaptive e-learning systems take into account learner's profile, such as learning style and level of knowledge, in order to provide the most appropriate learning object. However, the essential challenge is finding and identifying the learning objects from a big corpus while ensuring their independence in different contexts. To overcome these problems of interoperability and accessibility of learning objects, the authors proposed to define a learning semantic Web service for each learning object. This service is an extension of OWLS that encompasses the description of the learning intention and the use of context that characterize a learning object. In this paper, the authors propose a new discovery mechanism based on learning intention and context use guided by the learner's intention and profile in order to offer a personalized learning path. Experimental results prove the efficiency of the proposed approach and approve its notable contribution.

Abstract:
PurposeThe purpose of this study is to examine how luxury brand descriptions influence millennials’ impression of luxury, impression of sustainability, attitude toward brand and purchase intention using the impression formation theory.Design/methodology/approachA between-subjects experimental design was used to test the research model, wherein two randomly assigned groups received an online experiment with either a luxury-only or a sustainable-luxury brand description.FindingsFindings included that the impression of luxury did not change for a sustainable-luxury brand describing the use of recycled materials as compared to a luxury-only brand without the description of recycled materials present. Therefore, millennials perceived the luxury-only and sustainable-luxury brands to provide an impression of luxury, which was the sole impression to significantly predict attitude toward the brand. In addition, the results indicated that attitude positively influenced purchase intention for both brand descriptions.Originality/valueThis study provides support for luxury brands to transition toward sustainable efforts of using recycled materials in their goods as the impression of luxury is preserved, and provide marketing communication that favors sustainable brand positioning. This is one of the first empirical studies that focused on exploring sustainability strategies for luxury brands targeting a specific market segment (i.e. millennials in the United States of America).

Few studies have analyzed the mechanisms of how environmental labels influence consumers’ perception and consequent behavior. The present study puts forth specific questions of how pesticide-free products should be promoted through product labels. Data were collected via controlled experimentation. The results demonstrate that pesticide-free labels with specific information on the harmful effects of pesticides have a more positive impact on perceived value and purchase intention relative to pesticide-free labels with a general description of the harmful effects of pesticides. The results also show that the positive effects of promoting the absence of pesticides through product labels on perceived quality, perceived value, and purchase intention are stronger among individuals who are high in environmental attitude and familiarity with pesticides. Abstract:
AbstractThe aim of this essay is to read Attilâ İlhan's novel Gâzi Paşa, a historical novel about the Turkish Independence War, with a focus on the distinction between history writing and historical novel. I begin my analysis of this novel from the narratological perspective developed by Dorrit Cohn, who emphasizes two aspects of this distinction: different reference fields of history and fiction, and fiction's distinctive ability in reaching into the minds of characters. These aspects will help me to unravel the production of meaning in Gâzi Paşa through its ambivalent and intentional border crossings between the two fields. Then, I will explain this intentional textual swing through an analysis of its roman à thèse features, which I ground on Susan Rubin Suleiman's description of the genre. Finally, the essay will discuss Gâzi Paşa's authorial intention that aims at instructing an audience through a narrative of charisma, founded on a specific representation of Mustafa Kemal for the purpose of propagating a black-and-white perception of history and politics.
